stayed in the apartments, beautiful views. We were happy to be there, we were supposed to be at the estoril (dont ask). The food was very good, always varied, lamb, pork, spare ribs, salmon, veal, lots of fresh salad, pasta and yes chips, but lots of veg cauli, brocolli, even brussels! We found all the staff to be very helpful the only annoying one being the nutter at the pool bar.
If you want ciggs, its a long walk down by the harbour, but as it is so pretty its not too bad. The Starfish ferry takes you to Cala d,Or where you buy them at the tabco shop. Two tips catch the ferry from Cala Marchal rather the porto colom its nearer. Cigs are cheaper in the shops than the airport.
It was a lovely relaxing holiday, the only thing that I found fault with was if they ran out of anything, wine in the restaurant they didn't refill it, same with the bread. The restaurant manager suddenly couldn't understand you! Silly little things which could of been sorted out.
Apart from the annoying barman and lack of brollies it was very good

Was a bit wary after reading reviews, but, very few problems. Easy Jet was delayed for 4 hours. Transfer time approx. 1 hr [ but this was very early in the morning] Hotel is nice and clean. Food is fine, [ not all to my taste but then again I sure didn't starve for the 2 weeks I was there]. Plenty of choice and I was very satisfied with most of what was on offer. Pudding were great. Lots of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only complaint I had was that I had to ask after 8 days for my bed to be changed, but apart from that the room was nice and clean and towels changed every day. Great views from my room [ 5th floor ] Staff very helpful and Javi at the poolside snack bar is ''NUTS''. Cant comment on entertainment as I never went. Porto Colom is lovely, unfortunately I have to go in for a knee op. in August so that curtailed me a lot. 20 steps to poolside were a problem as was getting around but again that was only because of my knee. Porto Colom is quite flat so getting around would normally not have been a problem. I used the indoor pool a couple of times and also the jacuzzi to compensate. I paid 500.00 for fully inclusive flying from Edinburgh and it certainly was not a waste of money, so go and enjoy yourselves. and the weather was excellent - I got the sun on my balcony from early morning till after lunch-time, so not being able to get around didnt stop me getting a lovely tan - lol

fantastic place to relax and still have a good time ! beautiful little port , authentically spanish in flavour and population but lots and lots of english speaking people and places . the hotel is spotlessly clean the unobtrusive staff are always there to help but never in your face . the food is very very good indeed do not listen to previous moaners please. there is a huge choice every single day and its not just salads though they are fresh and varied every mealtime too, there is always a hot fish dish and at least 2 meat dishes and delicious spanish type vegetables as well as rice pasta and potato dishes to accompany. for the person who only likes "English food " there is ham pizzas chips saute potatoes and many other breaded things like fish fingers chicken cordon bleu etc etc , during the week i was there i counted no less than 20 different main course dishes . breakfasts are great too there are 5 kinds of bread to toast or eat au natural eggs bacon baked beans fried bread as well as loads of healthy options. the sweets are to die for and theres wine and iced water on draught (and tea mrs fussy hahahaha) I promise you if you go to this hotel you will not be disappointed unless you took the wrong turning for Southend or Blackpool and didnt want a foreign holiday !

Having just returned from 1 week all inclusive I would like to say what a great time we had! Having booked the holiday first, and then reading the reviews I was dreading what we were going to find when we arrived! When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly suprised at what we found. The hotel was clean and tidy, including the accommodation, the maids were in every day. The food was good, we never had a bad meal in all our stay. We took our daughters who are both 18 and they totally enjoyed their stay and also Porto Colom itself. It is definately somewhere we would go back to and what excellent value for money! We could not find anything at all to complain about, perhaps some people expect too much!!!

i loved this hotel,
me and my fella paid only £300 each with flights and transfers,
our flight was delayed by an hour, which was ok, our transfer was waiting for us and we head off straight away admittedly we were told that the transfer time would be half hour to 45 minutes it was in fact an hour and a half. agian not a problem.
when arriving at the the hotel we were welcomed by a member of staff had a quick and easy check in, we were informed of where the bar, restaurant and pool was, given infformation about teh hotel (timings for meals, tv channels and rentals, also excurtion info).
our room was clean when we arrived and was cleaned every day sheetson bed were changed at least 3 time over the week.
hotel in general was clean.
staff were all pelsant especialy the reception staff.
the barman at the pool was a bit crazy and a little sleazy but harmless.
food was good. all very simular each night but able to cater for everyone needs.
entertainment was ok each evening consisted of a kids disco and bingo followed by different entertainment each night such as reptile hsow, quiz night, dancing etc.
i had a lovey holiday here, was very stress free, i had no problems or quieres with the hotel and for the price i paid i was deffinatly not moaning.
all these people moaning, if they paid the same amount as me they should not moan at all. its a cheap holiday what more can you expect.

Having just returned from a weeks holiday at the Belsana which I was dreading after reading the negative reviews, I would like to say what a great time we actually had. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the med. We stayed in the apartment block which was spacious for our family of 5. The apartment was clean on arrival and had maid service daily. The food was nice too and there was something for everyone. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Roberto and Rosa who worked hard daily on entertaining us. How does Roberto actually remember everyone's name??? There was football, archery, rifle shooting, tennis, water polo etc and Javi (the headcase) on the snack bar. Porto Colom is a very quite resort so if you want loads of shops, bars, restaurants etc don't go there. The beach is a five minute walk away and is a beautiful cove. On the whole we had a relaxing holiday which is exactly what we needed and I've come to the conclusion that some people would moan about anything. You get what you pay for and this was a cheap holiday and well worth the money paid.

Location
The Belsana overlooks a beautiful bay and there is a lighthouse opposite, sat perched on the headland. Portocolom is a quiet town though there are signs that the place is being developed, with new hotels and apartments being built some distance from the Hotel. There is no interference from this development.
The place is easy to get too, we travelled by car and it took about 3/4 hour, just ambling really. From Palma airport head towards signs that say "Santanyi" and you can't go far wrong. The signposts are plentiful and it is only a small island.
Hotel
Clearly, the hotel is old, I think it was built in the 60's and frankly, it has seen better days. I do think the 3 star is a fair reflection but only just. I found the staff friendly and helpful, the beds were made daily though sheets not changed every day. The floors were spotless inside the hotel. The pool was very clean, but it was early season and little suntan cream used due to the recent bad weather but the pool was regularly checked by the hotel staff.
The outside of the hotel was run down and a bit scruffy if I am honest. It could do with some TLC, fencing replaced, a lick of paint and there was a build up of litter outside. That said, it is a windy head land so litter would be expected but more effort could have been made to clean it up. Also, there seemed a reluctance by staff to provide tables and chairs on the "patio". Its not really a patio, just the "outside bit".
There is a games area, but this only consisted of an out dated and useless pinball machine, 2 sega driving games from the 1990's ( both don't work properly so don't waste a single euro ) and a pool table that works ok.
There are 2 pools. Guests can use both of them. If you prefer it a little quieter, then use the "Belsana apartments" pool, which is small and clean. It has a gradual slope but gets to about 2 metres deep so non swimmers should wear arm bands or similar. There are no lifeguards at the smaller ( or bigger ) pool that I saw.
Sun beds are provided, free of charge and there are loads of them. At the bigger pool, the shallow end is separated from the deep end by a rail. The main pool has a bar area where you can help yourself to tea, coffee and soft drinks. Bar food is very basic, chips with everything but ok, if you like that sort of thing. Staff were reasonably helpful and friendly. The same lady who cooked the chips can later be seen with a chefs hat on, in the restaurant. I think she may have idea's above her station.
We did over hear some people moaning that the lighthouse kept them awake at night, because the light shone into their rooms. I suggest you just close your eyes and it shouldn't bother you.
Restaurant and Food
We went fully inclusive and our child has a very restricted diet but the hotel catered for his needs. Every morning there is the capability of a full breakfast, as well as cereals and toast, coffee, tea, fruit juices ( powdered ), salami and cheeses for the adventurous.
The aforementioned chef utilises her skills in re-generating the left overs but most of the food we had was fine, if a little plain but they are catering for everyones tastes. You can have seconds, thirds if you want. We had a variety of meats, veal, lamb chops, chicken, turkey, beef as well as hake and other, less well known fish dishes.
Puddings consisted of home made cakes, fruit and rice puddings, yogurt and ice cream. I can't knock the food. They said they would feed us and they did.
Rooms
We were given an end room, which was fine. Beds are collapsable and they had plenty in reserve. The room sizes seem adequate. Our shower was excellent and they kept the room clean. There are safe's available in the room. There are TV's with about 12 channels ( mostly spanish ) but euro news and CNN are available ).
Disabled access
Ok once you get in to the hotel. Disabled people should go around the side, where access is easier. Getting to the pool would be problematic though I would use the smaller one if I were you. There is a lift, takes 4 people at a time.
Entertainment
There was a chap there who was the entertainments man, organised shooting events and other things but we kept ourselves to ourselves. Kiddies entertainment was provided by a hyper active bouncy female, 1 hour a night of agadoo. Then bingo, so don't expect too much.
Summary
I have read other reviews and I think 6-7 / 10 is fair. We had nice weather and a car and so used the hotel as a base but we really enjoyed our stay. Its easy to be picky but we genuinely tried to relax and not to pick fault. There is, sometimes, a tendancy to criticise these older hotels which would be fair if staff didn't give a hoot but I felt that the staff at the Hotel genuinely wanted us to have a good stay.
The local beach is lovely and only a 10 minute walk away and if you are fortunate to have a car, visit the water park near Arenal, Porto Cristo ( lovely harbour ), Cal De Majorca has a very pretty beach and of course Palma is always worth a visit, even in the rain. I would recommend walking around the bay that makes up the town. There are a few restaurants and bars plus a pharmacy.
The Belsana isn't everyones cup of tea. If you are a teen looking for nightlife and all night dancing, go to Arenal NOT Porto colom. You will be bored and probably suicidal, But, if like us, you are chilled and happy to see your kids playing with other youngsters with parents from working / middle class england, you won't be disappointed.

Where do I start. The pictures on the website are not representative of the accomadation allocated The pictures shown are of the apartments opposite giving a false impression, therfore you are breaking the law with trading standards.
On arrival with my family,my husband and myself were given room 401, my daughter her husband and 2 children age 10 and 14 was issued 214 a little larger than ours but with three beds and a camp bed across the bathroom which
prevented access to the bathroom. On complaining my son-in-law asked why he couldn't have one the apartments which were shown on the internet, he was told, no you can't it will cost you much more. The only solution was to have our 14 year old granddaughter in our room.
The bedding was not changed during the week we were there and we are not even sure that it was fresh and clean when we arrived some of the sheets and pillowcases had holes in them giving us the knowledge they hadn't been changed. On one occasion we went back to our room after cleaner had been to find the television on on a Spanish channel, as we don't watch Spanish TV I will leave you to guess who does.
Apartment cleaniing - any cleaning done was only surface cleaning, in the bathroom slashback and tiles were not wiped, in the main area no dusting was done at all andany floor cleaan was done by sweeping and not by mopping. The balcony was totaly untouched.
Food no fit for human consumption every menu contained Hake, beans ,tomato, pasta and rice and bacon sausages and mushrooms put out for breakfast were presented again at lunchtime in some form of sauce, this reaaeared at the evening meal.
Everyone thought the food in the restuarant was so bad that as soon as the pool snackbar opened it was bombarded with customers requesting burgers, hotdogs and toasties adiet which quite a few people lived on all week. During Lunchtime and eveng meal only water and wine was available, tea, coffee and juice was covered over.
Pool Area - The food served at the snackbar was in such demand and under staffed that the food arrived either burnt or undercooked or even orders missed a lady sat near us ordered burger and chips at 12.10pm and received it 13.40pm.
The green tables and chairs round the snackbar were engrained with yellow dust which showed the had not benn cleaned for a long long time and the tiled floor was never swept as cups, food and cigerette ends were piling up all over everywhere.
Indoor Pool - this is a health hazard the suspended ceiling is in danger of falling, the chaginging is just a 7ft x7ft bare room and only nails or hooks in the wall to hang clothes. The indoor pool area was far from clean and there was no ventilation. The sauna had its door hanging off and was dirty.
On the day that we went in because of the weather we were the first in that day because we had to unlock it we notice a terrible smell my son-in-law investigated this and found a childs dirty nappy in the waste bin which had obviously been there for some time.
General Cleanliness - There was distinct lack of cleaning staff throughout the hotel in the downstairs bar area spilt milkshake or icecream was visible on the floor area around the slot machines and pool table and used plastic cups littered every window sill all of which were never cleaned up for some time.
On Our departure we waited for our Transport our granddaughter dropped something down the back of the cushion on the settee and when I lifted the cushion to recover the item I was shocked to see bottle tops, paper and crisps etc.,
The entrance to the hotel ie: steps and tiled area outside were not swept on a daily basis and were covered in leaves and litter.
5 OUT OF THE 6 OF US CAME AWAY WITH A VIRUS BASED ON THE ABOVE WE FEEL THAT THE 3STAR STATUS GIVEN TO THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE REMOVED UNTIL AN IN DEPTH INVESTIGATION IS CARRIED OUT

After reading many comments that were negative it was a pleasure to find my room was clean, freshly decorated, and had a completely refurbished bathroom. We had a beautiful sea view across to the lighthouse. The bed was changed regularly, and the towels daily.
Staff in the hotel were excellent at all times. A special mention goes to Javi in the poolside bar/snacks, together with the excellent team of Roberto & Rosario who organise the entertainment, which was ever present and always great fun. Their enthusiasm for a thankless task knew no bounds, and all deserve medals.
The food in the restaurant was fine. Any hotel catering to it's clients 3 times a day will tend to get a bit boring over a holiday, but there was always something good you could find, and the choice was always extensive.
Don't believe the negative reports - This Hotel represents excellent VALUE FOR MONEY!
Thanks to everyone who made my holiday enjoyable.

We booked this last minute and was really pleased with everything for the first week of our stay. The pool is great for little kids and older ones as the childrens area is like a paddling pool depth and separated from the main pool by a barrier. The pool area was clean and tidy and the food and drinks from the pool bar are great. The restaurant has lots of choice of food and the breakfasts are great. Even had Assam tea- my favourite!
The second week was the start of the school hols and the hotel was full. The pool bar couldn't cope with demand for food etc as there is only one guy working on it as best he can. The restaurant wasn't always cleared or the tables relaid in time and had to wait for a table. The food was very repetative after the first week and there is always chips pizza and a meat choice covered in garlic! Veg was lovely though and so were the ice creams.
Very helpful staff all round the hotel. Those that complained that the staff were rude were some of the rudest people I've met! The noise of people banging their doors late at night was a bit troublesome but nothing a couple of earplugs didn't fix. All in all a good place to stay and a lovely quiet resort with a fab beach.
