room was very basic but clean .Food was exellent and plenty of it .Not much to do though apart from sun bathing and walking, beach is lovely .Had a lovely time we would go back to the same apartments if there was more to do in porto colom.I would give the apartments nine out of ten but porto colom its self four out of ten.

just had 1 week at ola club cecellia it was enough the cockerels drove us mad at all hours of the night setting off a couple of dogs too. apart from that it was a bit too quiet with a limited amount of (expensive ) restauraunts .we ended up going into cala dor a few nights. i must admit the hotel entertainers did a very good nightly show and there was a spanish dance troupe 1 night which was enjoyable . we were troubled by ants in the kitchen area and bathroom ,on a plus side we had booked a studio and were upgraded to a four bed apartment. all in all we have had much better holidays and wouldnt go back to that resort.

Had a fantastic holiday, pool cleaned every day and the room was basic but clean

Did at first think the place needed updating, glad we was h/b if we had been s/c then I wouldnt of been happy to cook with just two rings But to be honest just so long as its clean and the kids are happy them we are. Had a few ants but once we sprayed that was the end of them in the rrom.My 12,8,5 didnt want to go home, kids club was just the best. The two boys love sports as most boys do and love playing games.

This was Lukes and steves area and they where fab at getting every1 involved.

Night entertainment was great fun, my husband couldnt stop getting on stage.

and on our last night he won Mr ola cecilia 2008 He He what a laugh.

We relax by the pool, with no rush to get a bed 9.30am was the time I went every morning for 5 beds. Food was very good quality excellent salad every night not in sauces. Plenty of fresh bread, fruit morn and night. Coffe and juice in mornings buth had to pay for drink any drinks with evening meal.

Met some great families. Mick,Berni and the boys.

WE CANT WAIT TO GO BACK.

Just returned from 12 days half board at Ola Cecilia 2 adults and two kids 6 and 7. I was very glad that we went half board as the restaraunts are expensive. The buffet style food, was good, with a good choice and plenty of it. There was always plenty of room and no queing in the dining area. We were around the corner from the main hotel area, it was lovely and quiet, approx 1 minute from the beach, the pool and the supermarket, we had a one bed ground floor apartment, with a big terrace area.

The resort is quite remote and ideal for young families as there is no disco and nightlife etc. We didnt use the kids club but the animotion reps were always around, and did shows at night which were good for the kids and unintentionally funny for the adults.

The pool as has been said elsewhere has no shallow end, my daughters both learned to swim at least a width each during our stay as there is no other option as the kids bit is tiny, so teaching them to swim was a bonus. The beach is great with a long thin stretch of sand, leading into a sheltered cove.

The operator we booked with were Sunshine, and full marks to them they were great.

All in all we enjoyed our stay, and for the price it was great value and great fun. If you have booked here, budget an extra 100 per week than you anticipated and enjoy!

Reception staff were always polite and helpful - apart from the 2nd to last night when we discovered our bathroom ceiling leaking. They gave us some towels to mop up and promised a workman in the morning. He never arrived.

Our apartment was on the ground floor though right next to a busy thoroughfare, so we didn't get much sleep... Every wheeled suitcase and late arrival, child that knocked on the wall as they walked past (knocking just above our heads), drunken Irish reveller - they all went to their beds via our apartment. No kettle and no toaster meant very little in the way of "self catering" - we boiled water for a coffee in a pan.

Our upstairs neighbours waited until 1am every morning until they started their hour long furniture moving game. The noise drove me potty, although my boyfriend refused to get wound up by it and just caught up on his sleep by the pool.

The pool was small and had no shallow end, which led to constant divebombing into the water with no one stopping this or seeming to care who got wet. The mornings by the pool were quite nice, but after lunch the children seemed to go mad.

The cleaning staff were great - we didn't use a safe and had no problems.

My only gripe would be that there was an awful lot of Irish holidaymakers and very little of any other nationality.

5 restaurants within a 5 minute walk - although the square at Porto Colom was only a 20 minute walk away and had more choice. We were quite happy with the local fayre tho - the calamari at the beach front restaurant that sells "tee" is stunning.

All in all this is a stunning resort - the beach is something else - but very quiet. Most nights we ate in a half empty restaurant. We wanted a quiet getaway - and that is exactly what we got. If you aren't prepared for a complete escape, pick somewhere busier

My boyfriend and I stayed self catering for 7 nights. We are both 24 and were looking for a quiet holiday with a nice beach.

The hotel was fairly nice we booked a self-catering studio for 2 but were upgraded on arrival to a bigger apartment. The location of the hotel for the beach was fantastic. The block stayed in was round the corner from the main hotel in a very quiet area overlooking the bay. We had a balcony and sea view which was great. The hotel staff seemed friendly enough not that we had much to do with them. The apartment was fairly clean and the self catering facilities were limited to two rings. The spar was on the same street so you didn't need to go too far for supplies! We were on the second floor and didn't have too many issues with ants they were on the balcony on the first night and then in the room in the morning but I found some insect spray under the sink and with one spray they were gone and two days later they were on the balcony so I sprayed them before they got in the room again.

The resort is small. This hotel is not in the main resort of Porto colom but in Cala Millor which makes it even quieter but a lot closer to the beach. The main resort catered for Spanish tourists which was refreshing. There was a good mix of nationalities, Irish, German and French which was nice.

The beach itself was great everything we could want. It was clean and the water was shallow we spent the whole time here. If you like a good pool this isn't the hotel for you. It was quite small and very busy!

There is a boat that stops in the cove and goes down to Cala D'or. We went on this and it cost 19 Euros each I think it was about 11 for a child. The boat ride was lovely it went into the coves down the coast but when we got to Cala D'or we were initially disappointed because the beach was tiny. It was half the size of ours and twice as busy! We couldn't understand how the resort was so big and the beach so small! It was packed you couldn't get near the water kind of glad we didn't book our holiday there! There was a lot more choice for restaurants there and we did have a nice lunch. It was a lot cheaper than Cala Millor!

For dinner we didn't eat at the hotel itself as we didn't fancy a buffet. The restaurants near the hotel were ok. Everything was served with chips, it was pretty much British pub food at twice the price, around £30 for a shared starter, two mains and drinks for two. I guess this is handy if you have fussy eaters or kids as it seemed to be ok quality but I found it expensive, boring and disappointing. We did find the Mexican restaurant El Cactus overlooking the beach to be quite good. They had a range of tasty Mexican food and grilled steaks etc. They seemed to have an extensive kids menu so fussy eaters were catered for. We found better restaurants over in Porto Colom on the harbour where the majority of the other hotels were. It was about a 10 minute walk and easy to find as you just follow the main road down from the beach til you get to the harbour. There was a nice Italian restaurant on the main road called La Toscana which was delicious. Our favourite was a German run restaurant on the sea front called Bahia Azul which was part of the hotel of the same name and their food was to die for! It was the most expensive place we ate but it was proper restaurant food a range of sea food and meat dishes that were full of flavour! The service on the Porto Colom side was also a lot more friendly and welcoming.

Overall we enjoyed the holiday very much and wanted to give it a high score, the main reason for only giving it a seven was the standard of cleaning and the lack of decent restaurants at decent prices. We would recommend this holiday for young families and couples looking for a quiet beach holiday who don't mind expensive pub food. We wouldn't recommend this to people who like a wide choice of good restaurants in an evening and I think most people know this isn't a place for a lively night life.

Oh and we wouldn’t book through alpharooms again as they told us our baggage was included in the price of our flight and it so wasn’t and we got stung at the airport. We complained via email but it’s a week later and we have not yet had a response!!!

Just returned from 2 fantastic weeks in Club Cecilia.

We had 3 kids with us, ages 12, 9 and 7. We got a 2 bed room apartment in Block B, perfect accommodation, very clean, no problem what so ever with ants, spotted plenty outside, none inside the apartment. We did some basic cooking in the apartment - omelettes etc. and had no problems. Found the staff very helpful and friendly. The kids club and nightly entertainment were absolutely fantastic, at night we would schedule our meals to ensure to be back in time for the evening entertainment. Stephen was the Team Lead, great guy. Luke is everyone's favourite and certainly a big hit with my kids. He is a natural born entertainer.

One draw back for families with kids who can't swim - the main pool does not have a shallow end as such - shallow end is about 6 ft deep. They do have a separate kiddies pool but is a bit on the small side - my kids can swim so this was not an issue for us.

The area to me was perfect - very quite and not too commercialised. Plenty of nice restaurants and a fantastic beach less than 5 minutes walk away.

I cannot say enough about the place - absolutely great, fantastic, superb.

Can't wait to go back next year - for 3 weeks this time.

We have just returned from our 10 day holiday. The staff when we arrived after our flight were excellent sorting out details and getting us to our apartment quick and easy.

The apartment was basic (even had air con) but very clean and the cleaning staff worked wonders in keeping us in fresh towels and bedding. Our apartment was a above the Spar shop and the smell of fresh bread in the morning was to die for.

A hop skip and a jump and we were on a superb beach never busy always a sunbed available and fantastic sand and lovely views. Not many eating places to choose from but all offering good menus.

Any staff we dealt with were always polite.

Only negative went for 10 days instead of 14

Me and my wife have just got back from ola club cecilia, and initially we where dissapointed with what we found, 11pm at night loud music from the entertainment, a bit cranky after flying etc.

But in the cold light of day (or should that be hot light of day) we decided to make the most of it, after all we where on HOLIDAY. although we had ants, after spraying near doors and windows a couple times they were gone.

Not really a good hotel for self-catering we ate most days accross the road in the Vistasol Restaurant which was cheaper than the hotel and the staff where friendly too.

The pool has no shallow end but does have a seperated shallower area for children and non - swimmers (like Me) who have no hang ups about not being able to swim. Plenty of room for sunbathing around the pool.

The entertainment crew are First class young workers who have kids clubs and activities most days for all who wish to participate - free of charge.

In the evening they put on shows and childrens disco's, bingo and make everyone feel part of the fun, if they could bottle what they have and sell it, they would be rich, all TRUE entertainers.

Im not the most outgoing person but was made to feel special by all and would recommend this hotel to anybody who has children or not, if you join in with the programme it is fun for all.

If you want clubs and 7am closing times goto cala d'or

If you don't like kids and family fun don't go to ola club cecilia

A holiday is what you make it and this was one of the best ever.

Met some fantastic guests who helped to make the holiday special.

Big Thankyou to Steve,Marieke,Maria,Arianne, Ineke and of course Luke, keep up the good work you are all stars in the guests eyes.

I just spent a week in the Ola Aparthotel Cecilia with my boyfriend, and to be honest it was the hotel from hell, i wouldn't reccommend the hotel to anyone. We were told we could check in by 1.30 p.m after a long day travelling, but when we arrived were told to come back another 2 hours later, as not to our knowledge they were fumigating the room, due to a major ant problem in the hotel. When we finally got our room, it was full of ants anyway, had electric sockets hanging off the wall, the bathroom sink hanging off and a broken toilet seat. We went down to complain, the receptionist sent up a so called electrician who only managed to fix the toilet seat let alone the electrics! We had the room sprayed everyday, which was a major inconvenience to our holiday, as the room would have a lingering smell for hours later. We phoned fleetway, our travel operator who didnt do much for us, i went down to reception and demanded to speak to a british rep but had no satisfaction as the receptionist pretended she couldn't speak english, however she had no problem speaking english when we checked in and paid deposits for a safe, air conditioning (which was advertised free on the website) and a toaster as the self catering apartment had little cooking facilities! We couldn't cook anything due to the ants, so had to eat out most of the time. There was a lack of restaurants and shops, and many restaurants were ant ridden. The only nice part of the holiday was Cala Marsal local beach which was beautiful. Overall, i thought the service by both the hotel and our travel operator was appalling, very incompinent, and i wouldn't reccommend this hotel to anyone at all. Book elsewhere.

Me and my Boyfriend have just returned from a lovley week in majorca.

I must admit after reading the comments that some people left, i was starting to think we had made a mistake as we are both in our twenties and didn't want a really quiet holiday.

However, our room was spotless and clean and the view from our balcony was great.

We had noisey neighbours one night but that was only because Spain had won the football and was expected!

The resort is very quiet, there is only 1 bar unless you walk down to the square.

The restaurants are all good espescially visa sol which is opposite the apartments which we only realised was there on the second to last night!

The entertainment for the kids and adults is great, and all the entertainers made our holiday really.

All in all we had a great time and would reccomend it to anyway looking for a quiet getaway.

All in all this is the PERFECT quiet get-away or recuperation holiday!! OR The worst place to go looking for FUN FUN FUN! Perfect place for a quiet holiday but if your looking to go out clubbing or have lots to do then this is not the place. There is an amazing white sand beach only 2 mins walk and cuz its a small place it is rarely crowded, and there is 4 restaraunts overlooking it. Theres no nightclubs here and all the "family stuff" like waterparks, pirate show, medievi show and marineland is on the other side of the island about 1 hrs drive or 120 euros return in a taxi!! There is the starfish boat which picks you up just along the rocks on the right side of the water and takes you to the much bigger resort of Cala D'or, (30 euros for 1 adult, 1 child) or at the bottom of the beach is a bus stops which takes you to as far as palma for just 5 euros each (Cala D'or 2 euros). If you are getting a taxi instead of transfers from the airport, it is very expensive (& plz tell the driver it is in Cala Marsal, or u'll spend much more telling him its porto colom)!! Between 60-70 euros each way in a taxi, so hiring a car is a much cheaper option

The restaraunt is open to self catering guests, you can buy vouchers at reception and give them to the waiter, these cost 5.75 euros (half price for kids)for breakfast which is a buffet of fresh fruit, ham, cheese, cereal, toast, fry up, yoghurt etc, dinner is 12.75 euros and is again a buffet inc salad, soup, main course and dessert. Always loads of very nice fresh fruit! The kids disco is fantastic but not long enough, only 30 mins some nights! Always a show for the whole family everynight and the kids club looked like loads of fun although we never used it. Only bad thing id say is they need to start heating the pool and cleaning under the beds.

We went to Porto Colom for a chill out week and that is what we got. The apartments are clean and tidy and cleaned 3 times a week. Believe me though, since the advent of the EURO Spanish hols are not cheap anymore. We went self catering so eating out at night was quite expensive EURO30-35 for two to eat. Avoid the centre and marina at Porto Colom as this is very expensive as we found out with 2 beers costing us EUROS 12.00! To continue on the eating theme try the Cecillia buffet. EUROS12.75 for evening and 4 courses and breakfast is a must at EURO5.50. The pool is very deep, there is only a very small space where you can stand up so sometimes it was hard work. The entertainment at the complex is first class and operated by 'Animacion'. Luke is very effervescent as one of the reps. Beware the Irish though! High season would be a nightmare for some as there would be loads of children there although at the beginning of June it was not too bad. Overall a pleasant experience and we may return next year.
