i just have to say how brilliant the entertainment in ola club cecilia was. The staff there did an amazing job at keeping people entertained not only the younger children but the teenagers aswel. the shows that where done at night-time were really funny and great to watch, i really enjoyed my holiday in club cecilia, + the beach is gorgeous.
Good facilities

Stayed here in May with my Partner, Son (8) and my mother in Law for a week. We had a great apartment, 2 bedrooms, living area, very well equipped kitchen. It was spotless clean. Although the complex is in a very quiet area the facilities are good. The nearby beach is fabulous. The entertainment in the complex was excellent - despite being there out of season the childrens entertainers were great and kept the kids well entertained and busy. Would highly recommend this complex for families with children. Even the bad weather didnt spoil our holiday.
A pleasant stay!

We have just come back from a week in porto colom, staying in the cecilia club. Due to the time of year it was quiet which was good, but few restaurants were open. The cecilia had clean and basic apartments, you dont go on holiday to spend most of your time in the kitchen cooking. The breakfast and Tea buffets were good value for money with plenty of choice. Entertainment for children is good, keeping them busy during the day and games and disco's in the evening. Adults can relax in the bar and adult entertainment starts later on in the evening. Friendly staff & entertainers. The beach, a short walk away was clean and beautiful.
Porto Colom and Ola Cecilia Apartments
from Philebas
Myself and my girlfriend (early 30's) wanted a cheap 2 week holiday in a reasonably quiet resort where there was enough bars and restaurants to keep us entertained in the nights before we went to bed (we didnt want night clubs or loud music bars). The hotel was going to be used as a room only as we explored the island for a week with a hire car and the other week being spent finding beautiful beaches and realxing all day. The island itself is very beautiful and my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed oursleves however Porto Colom itself can only be described as "Dull as Dishwater" and the Ola Cecilia Apartments are pretty shocking and look very cheap. When I read other comments on here about Porto Colom, I read the apartments were very clean, spacious and do a good job and Porto Colom itself has a good beach and reasonably lively night life with a good port down the road if you love walks and like to look at boats. All of the comments couldnt be further from the truth, or the people that have written reviews on here before have never experienced a good holiday or been to a nice resort. The apartments were clean, I will give them that however our apartment was overun with ants (and I mean infested). If you left any kind of drink out or food the next morning it was like a scene from Walt Disneys "Bugs". Thousands of ants everywhere. The shower (extremely important in my eyes) went from hot to cold in a matter of seconds and dripped out like a running tap. There was also only one setting (angle wise) so I could never wash my hair unless I went on my knees and my girlfriend had no option but to allow her hair to get soaking wet every time. The balcony was joined with all other baclonies on the same level floor with a very low divide so when you walked out on the balcony, you could see all your neighbours and so there was no privacy what so ever. The hotel apartments were also spread out across Porto Colom so you could either be situated by the swimming pool or you could be above an Irish bar half a mile down the road - very weird in my eyes. The swimming pool picture in the brochure looks really nice and spacious but when I actually saw it, my girlfriend and I burst into laughter, lets just say the brochure picture "doesnt do exactly what it says on the tin". It looks like someone has built a small swimming pool next to a main road in a council estate block, it was awful (so bad no one was ever in it) and hotel bar was shocking. The one time we both braved a drink in there, I paid almost £10 for a pint of lager and a vodka and sparkling water (worst than over here). The entertainment was driven towards kids which is fair enough but it looked cheap and awful on the night we went in to take a look, there was about three families in there looking bored and upset. As for Porto Colom, well what can I say..... The beach (which was extremely average) in my eyes was not very clean (fag butts and crisp wrappers everywhere) and its the only beach I have ever seen where there is graffiti on the buildings leading out to the sea - nice effect. My girlfriend and I went there once but then found much better beaches located further south or north (cleaner, better and cheaper). The night life (restaurants, bars) were hilarious. I wanted a reasonably quiet resort but this was a joke. It was like a scene from "Night of the Living Dead". There was no one and I mean no one anywhere, and the odd people you did see out looked miserable and in a "zombie like" way, it was so dead it was scary. I asked all the bar managers and restaurant owners where everyone was and they said it was always like this - weird. So we drove to Cal'Dor and other places so we could have a meal and drink in the company of others, not what you want as one can never drink as they have to drive. We met one other couple whilst we were out in Porto Colom on a regular basis (mid forties) and we simply spent every night we were with them stating how bad and dull Porto Colom was, yes it really is that dull. We also read that Porto Colom had a nice port with lovely looking boats etc... so you could take a lovely stroll and have great views whilst doing so. The walk from Ola Cecilia apartments involves walking up and down two hills (not a problem in my eyes as I love walking and its only about a mile but some people would definitely get annoyed by this). The actual Port with the boats was the biggest anti climax I have ever witnessed. You could see better boats and ports in any sea side resort in Great Britain, it was terrible and it should certainly not be called a port in my eyes. Other places in Mallorca like Port D'Alcudia, Cal'ador and Port Pellenca (excuse spelling) are much better for this. The icing on the cake was when we met a Dutch couple who were paid to entertain kids and families in Ola Cecilia apartments. After a hard days work they would come out for a drink. We learnt that they would do a months entertaining at one hotel and then move on to the next, and they had done this for the last 2 years all around Mallorca. When we became friendly with them they basically told us that Ola Cecillia was the worst hotel they had ever worked and stayed in and they couldnt wait to get out of Porto Colom as it was just so dull and miserable. To my girlfriend and me this just spoke volumes. The simple truth here is, if you want a average holiday with kids and have no intention of doing anything but going to a below average beach everyday and then going back to the apartments to watch medioke entertainment by an horrific pool and then sleep then this is definitely the place for you. However if you want an above average location to stay at, a reasonably lively night life and a lovely beach at your door step, DO NOT stay at Porto Colom and Ola Cecelia Apartments. The one word to describe it is "chavtastic". I will definitely go back to Mallorca but I will never go back to Porto Colom again. If you do stay at Porto Colom make sure you hire a car as its miles from anywhere and taxi fairs from what we saw were not cheap if you did want to explore other towns on the South Coast. My personal advice is stay well clear of Porto Colom but try other resorts on the East coast.
worst experience of our lives
from Wilchard
We arrived At Ola cecilia at 4am in the morning - were met by a man that didn't speak much english but did manage to tell us that there was no booking for us and therefore no room. We gave him our accomodation voucher and he just shrugged his shoulders and told us that we would have to speak to the Manager in the morning at 11am. He said that he would give us a bed for the night. The room he gave us was over the road from the Apartment block and above a supermarket. The room was absolutely disgraceful - it had 3 single beds, kitchen sink dual hob and a fridge. The beds were made out of chipboard with very thin mattresses on top - very uncomfortable. He would not allow us air conditioning and the room smelt. We could smell the swimming pool from our room - the smell was not of chlorine but of stale water it really was awful. The photographs that you see from the Travel Agents do depict the apartments and pool area quite well but seeing with the naked eye is believing. We left the resort the next day. Never Again!! We ended up being moved to Cala D'or and stayed at the Club Cala D'or Apartments which was great - pity about Ola Cecilia!
Total Bust

My husband made the reservations for this hotel when we decided we were going to visit Mallorca. Porto Colom is a absolutely lovely little port in the quiet area of the island. The walk from the hotel is a beautiful one to get to the main port where the nicer restaurants are in the town. The beach near the hotel is extreamly crowded and, although the sea and the water is beautiful, the beach is littered with cigarette butts and trash. When we first arrived at Ola we were greeted with a generous dose of rude attitude from the man at the desk. He was rude when my husband spoke Spanish to him, answering with an, "I'M SORRY?" in a distinctly unfriendly anti-American air, and gave us a hard time about not having a voucher in order for him to 'get paid.' When we got into the room, which no one showed us to, we were met with loud, tacky fabric on the beds and curtains. We were shocked to see that we had two single beds instead of a double bed and when asked to change were informed that there were no double beds in the entire hotel, which I would be very suprised to find out is the case. While the room was clean enough it was ugly as anything. The little tv was stuck up in the corner of the room like in a prison cell, the curtains only had one thick piece of fabric and nothing to just let light in and have privacy. We often didn't leave the sliding glass doors to the balcony open because our neighbors on both sides would be smoking. Our room was only cleaned two times in the five days we were there and our very cheap, paper sealed toiletries were NEVER replaced. The shower curtain was a flimsy piece of material that left a flood on the bathroom floor. At night we had to crank the air conditioning because of the noise of music, toys and people on microphones, which didn't allow us to experience the ocean breeze. Not to mention the flourescent light spilling in from all directions, and the lack of a lighter curtain to draw close. All in all the experience was a total bust. We may return to Porto Colom but we will be giving Ola hotels a wide berth.
Some rooms better than others.

We stayed at the old cecilia with our 15 year old son and his mate last summer and im glad i didnt read the reviews before we travelled . i think we hit lucky as we had booked 2 apartments at a very reasonable price and when we arrived the reception were very apologetic that our apartments were not linked, much to the boys delight!! The lads were in the main block surrounded by familys which i was pleased about and we had a fantastic apartment over the road with 2 balconys so we always got the sun, suberb views over the sea and lots of room. we had a lovely relaxing week on the beach while the boys were kept entertained by the staff and made lots of freinds around the pool. i must admit the pool was a bit chaotic because of the teenages pushing each other in and having fun so i wouldnt go with little ones but if you want a safe place for your teenages then it is good. We didnt worry at night either as there is nowhere for the lads to be tempted off to and they all stayed and joined in with the entertainment at the complex. I probably wont go back again as the lads have probably outgrown it this year and we like a bigger choice of restaurants and bars.

july 2005 we went to ola club cecilia with our 3 kids which were 9, 2 and 1. We booked through a travel agent but be careful cos on the brochure it says that you mightnt be in the apartment blocks and thats exactly what happened to us. Thinking that it meant we werent going to be in the main block we were shocked to discover that when we got to the hotel that we were over an irish pub which was about 5 mins from the hotel. There was alot of confusion when we were trying to find our apartment. The man on the reception had very little english and we have very basic spanish so not good as he was trying to direct us. We did get very fed up cos it was 1 o clock in the morning and all the kids were exhausted as our flight had been delayed. Finally we arrived at the apartment and i can only say that it was extremely basic and the first thing we saw when we opened the door was a big bottle of ant spray (not the best welcoming pack). The apartment was a studio apartment which had a double bed and bunk bed but had very old furniture. The tiles in the bathroom had also seen better days. We did go down to the reception to our rep but were not able to change our apartment. Our apartment did look onto a road and been overhead the pub wasnt the best for the kids. The sing song would go on till all hours and with 2 kids under 2 it wasnt the ideal. We did have to go down to the reception and get our apartment sprayed cos the ants were everywhere. Having said that the only good thing about the hotel was the entertainment as without this you would be struggling to find things to do with the kids. There was a pool there but there was no shallow end for the kids so it meant that my 9 year old had problems finding his depth. Porto Colom is a very quiet area and i definetly wouldnt recommend this holiday for people who like alot of activiites or shops. All in all we definetly would not go back to this hotel it was an experience not to be repeated
Great relaxing holiday

Date: 4th June 06 Porto Colom is a very quiet, relaxing resort. We have just spent a week at Ola Cecellia apartments and If you are a family with small children - you will love it! There is entertainment all day and into the night for kids. There's even a creche! We however are a couple without kids and still managed to have a good time. There are various restaurants placed around the apartments and near the beach which is only a small walk away. The beach is quite small and can get crowded, however having said that, once your in the green/blue clear waters you soon forget size! Its worth investing 3 euros on some snorkles at one of the beach shops, as there are all sorts of fish swimming around your feet. The local Champagne Sangria is a definate must! There are alot of steps down to the beach and up into Porto Colom which are full of sand and quite slippery - so becareful! There is a lifeguard on duty everyday at the beach and at the Ola Cecellia Pool. The apartments are very clean, towels changed 3 times a week, bedding once a week whilst you are there. Ola Cecellia reception staff are very helpful and friendly. Be warned though, there are no porters to help you with your luggage, we had to drag our heavy luggage up 5 flights of steps to our apartment upon arrival. Although we had a great time, as a couple without kids, we did have to sacrafice a few things, like not been able to get near or in the the pool for the amount of children. Also the Ola Cecellia's club night entertainment was geared around childrens parties even when singers were on for adult entertainment. All in all it was a lovely holiday, if your looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing then Ola Cecellia Apartment at Porto Colom is definaltely for you (esp if you have young children).
Never Again

Me and my partner stayed here last month (Aug 05) and we did not like Ola Cecilia or Porto Colom at all. The room was awful with three small beds seperated in each corner, the excuse for a kitchen had two tiny hobs with minimal utensils and a sink. The bathroom which was relatively clean started to smell each day at about midday but of sewage. Also the apartments are not safe at all. The front door is very thin wood with a tiny and unsecure lock and the balcony doors were just the same. One good point was that we were very close to the beach which was relatively nice however the view of it was runied as there is a big row of restaurants and buildings restricting it. Porto Colom is all on top of each other and there is absolutely nothing to do, apart from go on the starfish boat and go to the beach. There are minimal places to shop incase you get an overcast day however there are some lovely restaurants to eat at if you walk into the port. Calon restaurant is quite expensive but the food and service is just wonderful and well worth every penny. The swimming pool that comes with the Hotel is awful, it does not look clean or appealling in anyway shape or form and I did not swim in it once. This is not a place for couples to go really just families who have young children, however if I had children I would definately not like to bring them here. Also if you are thinking of coming here then defiantely do not come in August there was an extremely large beach party that happens annually and it goes on until 6 in the morning (House Music-NOT GOOD). We were kept awake all night and in turn lost a day of our holiday. How on earth Hotel Ola Cecilia got a 3* is completely beyond me.
If you like chips and green beans with your breakfast, then this hotel is for you! The only good thing about this hotel was the lovely people we met. pool was ok, the sunbeds didn't get too crowded. The bar and the restaurant were a complete joke. The 2 drinks policy was a... more
