Timewarp Hotel
A rather strange, higglety pigglety hotel directly overlooking the sea. I can't really fault the room for a 3 star hotel - it was clean and had a nice balcony overlooking the sea. The bed was uncomfortable but not desperately so. One lampshade had been mended at some point with masking tape but this was now cracked and peeling. Yes, the place needs a thorough overhaul decor wise. The decor and everything else is stuck in a timewarp - about 1976 I would guess. My partner and I thought it was all rather wonderful though. The dining room... more
Read Before Booking
We booked two rooms in the hotel for a two night stay- one double room and one single room. On arrival we were initially surprised by the presentation of the hotel. The hotel website had graded the hotel as a three star hotel but the appearance did not reflect this. We checked into our rooms and I was horrified by the room which we received. The smell of mould on the corridor leading to the room was a good indicator of what we would experience when we opened the door. The carpet was filthy with stains, the decor hadn't been... more
Room with a View
Friendly service on check in. Hotel full that night but you wouldn't know it. As per other reviewers the hotel is looking a bit worn and scuffed round the edges. Our room was clean and furniture was all in good condition. The TV was very small. We had a room on the third floor. The bathroom was up some narrow stairs in the room. Up here where two seats where you could relax and enjoy the view of the sea. Breakfast was ok with a basic hot buffet. All in all a pleasant weekend stay.
Worth a Look
My Wife and I are pretty fussy about the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotels we patronize. We can live with little things in need of repair as long as our room is clean and functional. Therefore, we were a little reluctant about staying at the Stade Court based on some of the reviews posted in Trip Advisor. But, since there were no other rooms available within our budget nearby and since we’ve never really had a major problem with any Best Western in Europe, we decided to give the Stade Court a try. We were not disappointed. Our room... more
Tired and desappointing
We stayed one night at the Stade. The decor is well past its renovation due date. The furniture is old and inadequate, the armchairs were stained. The walls and ceilings were showing marks and cracks. The bathroom was delapitated, smelled and even though you could see it had been clean, didn't feel clean. We came with other people and went to see their room, which was no nicer and even smaller. Overall we felt the hotel is very bad value for money.
Awful and tired hotel. Breakfast passable.
Mediocre and tired hotel. Stayed in room 302. Wall paper falling off wall. Bits falling off ceiling in bathroom. Staff mediocre. Breakfast passable when we eventually got served. It just felt like a damp, tired seaside property in need of a big overhaul. £90 for one night DB&B is a bit pricey given the quality. Bar man tried to charge £14.25 for 3 drinks. I got him to itemise it and it came to £9.90! Don't think he was trying to rip us off, just incompetent. Wish we'd stayed at Imperial, but they would only take 2 night bookings.
So Friendly
We stayed here for two nights and felt we had to add a comment on how friendly this hotel is. We had a lovely room on two levels overlooking the sea. My sister had a similar room which had an additional bedroom on the top level for her son. Our evening meal and individually freshly cooked breakfasts were superb. Its an old hotel so don't expect perfection in the room. It is very clean, very friendly, reasonably priced and overall it is just a lovely place to stay. I can't wait to go back.
Good value for money
My husband and I plus our 2 adult children have just stayed at Stade Court for 1 night whilst visting family in the area. We had a double room and 2 singles, all of which were spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. The double room had panoramic views over the bay and, apart from maybe needing a lick of paint here and there, we could not fault it. The staff were friendly and helpful. We particularly liked the pretty terrace in front of the hotel which was a pleasant place to take coffee after breakfast and read the newspaper. We would... more
awful
ON arrival we entered our room the bathroom still had dirty towels on the floor from the previous guest. They changed our room three times before it was okay. They also deducted £60 from the bill due to peeling wall paper and hairs on the floor in the bathroom. I had stayed at the Stade before and had a lovely room and good service. This last stay not good and I would'nt return.
Like a bad joke
I do over 150 hotel nights a year in seven different countries and this has to be the worst value hotel I have stayed in. Nothing but a run-down s£20 a night seaside bed & breakfast making itself out to be a £80+ a night quality hotel. I am surprised that Best Western continues its association. I turned up having decided to ask if they could extend my stay for another two nights but as soon as I walked through the door I changed my mind. Once I got to my room I was glad I had. Tired decoration and furnishing and a smell of cooking and... more
