Ramada Hotel reviews

Dec 2007, Mrs C Abbott

We are lead to believe that this is a 4 star hotel, having taught in the travel industry for several years, I have to say that I wouldn’t even give it a 3 star. On the Friday evening we arrived it was clear that some kind of party was taking place with the merry... more

will not stay again
Stayed for 2 days, nearly booked out on arrival, towels missing from room, complained but the staff did not understand me, room was not clean, Free WiFi did not work the signal was that low I had to stand in the corridor to get connected! for a 4 star rating we thought the hotel was poor and overpriced, My wife works in a 5 star hotel and agreed with me. Will not be staying there or any Ramada Hotel in the UK.
Nice little place with a GREAT restaurant
We stayed the night before our Norwegian Cruise at the Ramada Dover. We were a little worried, because we had read reviews that lamented its inconvenient location with regard to restaurants and entertainment and such. However, we booked late, so the more central locations had no rooms available. And ultimately, we were very glad to have ended up at the Ramada. The rooms were quite clean and nice and restful--and really a good size. The bathrooms were nice, the showers good, the beds comfy. The Ramada has a nice coffee and tea bar where... more
Dover Ramada
Stayed here one night on business. Hotel had been booked 2 weeks previously by my companys travel people. I was seriously delayed on the train and rang to tell the hotel, who said they had no notification of my booking!! I spent 25 minutes ringing my office getting someone to find my confirmation number. I rang the hotel back, who still couldn't find my confirmation even with the boking reference! I had an anxious 2 hour journey not knowing if I had a room for the night. I arrived at the hotel at 21:15, booking went quite... more
Great location for castle
My wife and I rented a car at Gatwick airport and drove to this hotel. We stayed 2 nights. Check in was uneventful. Room was nice, roomy and clean. Restaurant and bar were above the norm except service in the restaurant was unusually slow even thought there were few diners. Food was very good though expensive by US standards. Staff was very friendly and competent. My wife and I have stayed in many hotels in the UK and this one was one of the nicest for the price of $138 per night. We would stay there again.
Comfortable, clean and friendly
Stayed here in a family room (two double beds). Check in was quick and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Decor in the bedroom was modern and fresh, with good quality linens, comfortable mattresses and good thick blackout curtains. It was nice to see herbal/fruit teas provided on the hospitality tray, and handy to open the wardrobe and find an iron and ironing board in there. My only criticisms of the room would be that the vanity area around the sink was a bit small, and the leather executive style office chair in... more
Top Marks for the Ramada
We stayed at the Ramada Dover for one night and despite a mix-up with the date booked (OUR FAULT), the duty manager could not have been more helpful in trying to secure us a room at an alternative hotel. Seeing our distress and disappointment, he offered us a room which was officially "out of service" due to one of the beds being damaged. We were pleased to accept the offer which was handled with grace and elegance. The bar is relaxing and the food in the restaurant more than adequate even if the service was a little erratic. A... more
Did the trick
We stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding in Dover. We very much treated this as a 'transit' hotel - i.e. we wanted somewhere clean, friendly, and nice to stay but we wouldn't be living in the room. The hotel met our expectations and I'm happy to say more. The staff were friendly, check in and check out was quick, they arranged an early check in for us with no problem, the room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the room nice. We took the breakfast option (£7.50 each) and it was actually very good with a full... more
Family Friendly - Recommended
We stayed for a Friday night before catching the ferry to Calais and were very pleased with our choice. We stayed in a family room (two double beds) which was fine for us as my boys are still quite young and like sharing. The room was plenty big enough very modern and clean. Hairdryer and iron with board was also in the room as was a very welcome hospitality tray. TV with internet connection also in room. Our room was very quiet and did not hear a thing until our alarm. We had dinner in the restaurant which was great, an authentic Indian... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night prior to sailing for Calais in the morning. It is very convenient for the docks, just a moment off the main road and about 7 minutes from the port. The hotel was accessible from the car park, the room was the first on the ground floor bedroom corridor. A wide door led into a fair sized room with plenty of room to manoeuvre and with large twin beds. The bathroom was well thought out with a flat entry shower, a grab rail but with no shower seat. There was a raised toilet and easy mono tap at the... more
Not a convenient location
The hotel itself and rooms were very nice - reasonable size, clean, comfortable, modern and accommodating. We found the location to be quite isolated - it was a few miles outside of Dover. We had to take our car everywhere. It was quite busy and noisy as they had a special function with entertainment in the lounge/restaurant -- we felt out of place and not welcome. We would not want to stay there again.
