Look elsewhere......trust me!
This is by far one of the worst hotels I've stayed in....ever. Staff were just awful. Took nearly 20 minutes to just check in because the receptionist was incredibly inefficient and seemed utterly overwhelmed by a party of 4 arriving at the same time. Our evening meal was a joke. We waited again for an eternity while the disinterested and quite frankly rude staff pretended we didn't exist. Only one of us was asked if we'd like a drink - the rest were ignored! We asked for more bread... more
Stay Somewhere Else
Dingey rooms, have been badly tarted up, some odd features. Overly soft beds with massive roll together properties, and pillows made of scalplings. The few saterlite TV channels don't work very well, not even all the terestial ones are avaiable. Ground floor rooms stink of swimming pool, all rooms suffer massivly from noise, from the 2 nearby moterways, but worst still from the funcuion rooms which are located very close to the bedrooms. Didn't try the food, the pub at the end of the drive is 100%
Wouldn't go again
The rooms are poorly lit and look very 70's ish, the function rooms are very close to the bedrooms and they seem to get a lot of wedding receptions. This is not what you want when you need to get up before 5am for work! Breakfast is ok, but nothing special. The beds are not particularly good, the pillows are very disappointing, and I failed to get a complete night sleep in the 3 nights I had to stay there. The TV only gets about 8 channels, of which some do not get very good reception. I would not go back to this "hotel" again.
Lacklustre
If all you want is a bed for the night, a meal in the evening and a drink before or after it, the Best Western Donnington Manor will suffice. If you're hoping for anything more, prepare to be disappointed. I arrived to find that I'd been upgraded from a regular room to a suite. This was nice, except that a suite seems to have exactly the same furnishings as a regular room, spread slightly further apart. The bathroom was tiny, with a bath too short for me to get my knees wet and a shower too short to stand under. There's a health... more
Very Nice
My sister and I stayed here on July 1st. It was one of the hottest weekends so far this year and the room was very warm as there was no air conditioning. That aside our stay was very nice. The room was an adequate size, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were polite and the breakfast was very good. I would have no problems staying here again.
A fallback for a few nights if you're desperate
I spent a couple of months here off and on, during early summer and my overwhelming memory was of the heat. The guest room corridors have no windows or access to air so they just seem to get hotter and hotter - I was invariably sweating by the time I reached my room. The rooms were small, dark and a little cramped. They felt a bit dingy even if they actually we'ren't. The TVs all seemed to be broken or had such a poor recption that you could only get two terrestial channels and the Adult Channel, to which most of the working TVs seem to... more
1970's Revisited
The rooms were tiny and looked like a flash back to the 70's. Limited english spoken by some of the staff. We had 2 important telephone messages that were not forwarded. Gym and sauna facilities etc were good and food was acceptable.
Perfectly OK
They have fixed everything in the heating and breakfast departments. The restaurant's lunch and dinner menu was well up to standard. All staff were obliging and friendly. If you're househunting in Sevenoaks this is a good base. Last minute on-line rates through BW website are very interesting.
very pleasent stay
good hotel... nice location.. the whole family enjoyed.. friendly staff.. highly recommend.
OK, I guess
If you're in a tight spot for somewhere to stay then this might work, but don't plan any romatic trips here any time soon. The hotel has one nice feature - a very old tudor annex which is now the restaurant which is impressive. But I had a few problems. Firstly the heating was incredibly hot. Even turining off the room radiator completely did not make any difference since the temperature from the pipes alone was enough to heat tens rooms - maybe I was just in the room near the boiler or something. Although it was below 10 degrees outside I... more
