Most probably best avoided
I can only advise for people to steer well clear of this hotel if you are after a 4* experience (or even a 2* for that matter) The room we had (on the ground floor) was very very tired. Some of the problems experienced were: The windows wouldn't lock (a bit of a worry on the ground floor) The room was horribly overlooked by 50+ wedding guest on a patio - so much so on the evening we had to keep the curtains closed as people were coming up to the window (this wa sa problem - see below) The curtains were hanging from the... more
not bad 11
Stayed for a 1 night , mid week spa break . The hotel itself was lovely and our room was nicely decorated and spacious. We had lunch in the spa area ,which took over an hour to arrive but the treatments were fantastic and dinner in the evening was gorgeous. The only thing I would be wary of would be booking over a weekend; I understand they have lots of wedding parties and in such a small hotel, you may be overwhelmed.
Good, if you like that sort of thing...
I stayed at the BH Place for two nights on business, but got little sleep. The bed was lumpy, the road outside noisey, and there was an air conditioning unit humming away outside all night on both sides of the room. The room I was given was huge, and old. If you like 'old' then you might call it 'quaint', I call it tired. The kettle in the room was so full of calk that I didn't dare using it for fear of poisoning myself. Oh, and don't go there unless you have a car, there is NOTHING close (which again, is what some people like).<br... more
2 star masquerading as a 4 star. A big disappointment
the sort of place that gives British hotels a bad name : tired furniture, no room service, surely a mandatory for 4 star?, poor room facilities (including a sink that woudn't drain because the plug could not be removed), plumbing that you thought went out in the thirties (very noisy every time someone flushed the loo of another room), stained carpets and bedlinens(!)plus noisy - creaky floor syndrome. Which is a real pity because the staff were charming, pleasant and helpful and the setting is wonderful, gorgeous countryside despite... more
Nice hotel, excellent food
Just returned from a weekend at the Brandshatch and we had a great time. The hotel is located in beautiful settings and it's perfect for nice walks in the countryside. The pool, although not very big, is very nice and the sauna, jacuzzi & steam room are brand new. The rooms have a great & big plasma TV and a dvd player, which is great, specially during winter time! The best thing was dinner. The food was excellent and the service very good.
Such a wonderful place
I have just returned from a fabulous weekend at the Brandshatch Place. If I had read the other reviews before I visited (or booked!) I would have changed my mind. But my experiences are the complete opposite. I found the staff so welcoming and helpful; the room was easy to find (we didn't require any help with luggage and found the room very easily) and the facilities are wonderful. Check-in was quick and friendly - help was offered for luggage, and I needed some local questions answered which were no problem at all. We had a... more
A Hotel to stay at
I really enjoyed my stay in this very nice hotel. The food was excellent and the people very nice. I can really recommend you to stay there.
4* ?
We stayed on friday Oct 28th. to celebrate my wife's birthday and were expecting something really special from a 4*hotel ...However there were some real problems. When we received the key from the room, there was nobody to help with the luggage neither to show the way to your room.. We had room#34 and after going up and down forever through all different corridors (staff could not be found) one lady from the spa showed us our room wich was located at the front of the hotel..! It was very difficult to relax, seen the small size of the... more
Mixed bag
Lovely hotel in gorgeous settings, recently refurbished rooms are gorgeous and the Spa refit has been beautifully done. HOWEVER ... the staff are hard to find, badly trained, pretty incompetent and don't really care! The hotel food was lovely but very overpriced, breakfast was appalling and the service was equally terrible. The Spa is great and the staff there are wonderful but the swimming pool is very small, open to all and particularly in the school holidays it's overrun with lots of families with children spalshing around - great fun... more
