We spent two weeks at the Hotel Senior in September. Maura, the hotel owner, went out of her way to make sure we had a great time in Italy. She was always behind reception to answer any queries, Maura always had her finger on the button and spoke perfect English. The... more

We stayed at this hotel for the Motogp at Misano 2010. The hotel is one of the best we have stayed in for this price range. It is clean, modern and with a good pool. The staff are without exception friendly and very helpful, the chef is a genius. The proprietor - Maura,... more

We had a lovely holiday in the Hotel Senior. The room was big, very clean and comfortable. The balcony was small but we could both sit out on the supplied chairs. The food was good and the restaurant staff were all very helpful and friendly - nothing was ever a problem to... more

We went to this hotel in June 2008. The room was quite small but the balcony was even smaller! It would not even fit two plastic chairs on it - only one, and certainly wouldn't fit a balcony table on it! My husband and I took turns each to sit out on the balcony. The food... more

I would definitely recommend this hotel for families as nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the buffet breakfasts and evening meals are ideally suited to children: continental breakfasts and pastas and pizzas in the evening, followed by ice-cream, can't go wrong!... more

The cleaning service was very good.
I found there was a lack of entertainment.
The swimming pool was clean and fun to use.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Thank you for an enjoyable holiday and I hope to see you again soon.

This Hotel should be avoided at all costs. The brochure stated "family run" although it possibly was it certainly didn’t seem like it. The rooms were a good size but were not very clean, the balconies were little more than a large window and were not big enough to stand... more

Always very wary of unknown hotels, but the Senior is fine, although it suffers slightly from traffic noise as a lot of in-the-thick-of-it hotels do, but it's not really an issue. At least the Hotel is not right in the thick of the noisy main street where people-noise must... more

loved the senior
The holiday was great, the food was lovely and always plenty, staff just great the owner is excellent. The position of the room was nice top floor and very clean enjoyed every minute of it. I will certainly go back next year. Margaret
Basic, not 3 star
We spent a week at hotel senior in aug 2006, and have to agree it was a clean and friendly hotel. However, we found that the food was very, very basic, and not to the highest standard. Food was often cold, obviously re-heated from a caterer. The rooms were ok, but very basic, and didn't have the best views. The hotel is situated on a main road, and can be very noisy from traffic in the pool area. The pool area was clean, but small and again, very basic. We don't think the hotel deserves a 3 star rating, and would more likely deserve around 2 stars. The decor throughout the whole hotel is quite old-fashioned, and i would not recommend it, especially not for families with children, as there is little for them to.
Great value for money!
Had a great week with my 7 year old son. The staff are so friendly, food good and plentiful, pool area small but sufficient for our needs. Great location but on quite a busy road, ok if you have a room at the back of the hotel as we did. Lovely resort, no noisy clubs and pubs which suited me. Beach is fantastic, safe & nearby. Only thing that spoilt my week was the weather as we had 3 days rain, but hardly anyones fault!!!! Would definately visit again.
A wonderful 14 night break!
We booked our holiday in Cattolica as a 14 night allocation-on-arrival very late 'cheap' deal, right at the start of the summer school holidays. We don't consider ourselves to be 'package holiday' customers but the holiday seemed a good way of visiting Italy quite cheaply. It turned out to be one of the best holidays we have been on, and we certainly weren't disappointed. Don't let the first impression of the Hotel Senior put you off. It is not the most aesthetically pleasing hotel from the outside (it resembles a concrete block at first glance) - but everything else makes up for it. The hotel is quite basic but it was extremely clean and all the other guests staying there were remarkably friendly. The owner of the hotel was extremely helpful. There were a range of guests staying there - from young couples/friends (like us), to families, through to older couples. There were no misbehaved kids or rude guests, and the hotel did put on live music and quiz nights as evening entertainment for all. The restaurant served plentiful food and you were given the option the day before of choosing what you wanted to eat for dinner the next day, Only a really fussy eater would have had a problem with the food but we didn't really get bored of it even at the end of 2 weeks. However, dinner could only be taken between 7-7.30 and this did mean if you had gone afar on a day trip you would have to miss dinner. Drinks were cheap with the meal though (approx 6 euros for a bottle of wine). Breakfast was standard but again with plenty of choice. Our room was very clean and the shower was hot and powerful enough. In our first week we arrived in a heat wave but as we had a fan in our room we didn't feel the need to pay for air-con. The safe was 10 euros for the whole two weeks and I would recommend it as the room doors opened with a simple key. The only negatives were with the balcony and noise - a big chestnut tree blocked any view we might have had and there was only space for one chair. On a couple of nights, there was also a little bit of noise from the road and other hotels playing live music, but this did not go on very late. As for the resort - our hotel was only 5 minutes walk from the beach, which was perfect. The beach was very clean, and for 10 euros per day for two people, you had use of a sunlounger, gym, jacuzzi, table tennis. The sand was powdery and the sea warm. The beach front was perfect for strolling down after dinner and there are plenty of bars and shops open, although it was never unruly or noisy. The half day trip to Gradara was well worth it on the red train for the views from the Medieval castle walls. We also comfortably went on day trips to San Marino, Venice, and Florence. We travelled independently on the Italian trains and buses to these places with absolutely no problems and without any real knowledge of the Italian language. We were able to do the trips much cheaper this way (although if you are travelling this way you need to book ahead a day or two before). All in all a holiday at the Hotel Senior is definitely recommended and it is certainly a place I would consider returning to for the friendliness and relaxing atmosphere, with the added benefits of being situated in such a great resort.
Friendliest hotel i've ever stayed in!
Myself and two friends went for a last-minute allocate-on-arrival deal to the Adriatic Riviera, and were lucky to be allocated the Hotel Senior. The hotel staff were really friendly, the facilities clean and basic, the food good and plentiful, and the pool/sunloungers perfect for our needs. One of the few mostly british hotels, the other guests were amazingly friendly, and really made our holiday. I have never stayed anywhere before where the airport transfer coach had a send off party of waving guests! Wouldn't recommend Cattolica for people expecting a wild party every night, but would definitely recommend it to people wanting to wind down , enjoy good food and company, and soak in the very lively atmosphere of a beautiful Italian resort.
Never once pretended to be a 4 star hotel
The Senior is sadly in need of restoration work in the rooms as the photos clearly show. Food is nopt cooked on the premises but brought in from caterers and reheated in the hotel kitchens. The situation is on a busy main road in the outskirts of town and can be noisy. It's basic and suits some. However, to say it claims to be a4 star is totally unfair. It is and always has been a fairly below average 3 star property.
the bello hotel senior
This hotel offered great service, with friendly welcoming. the family run hotel, although small and basic, gives you a true sense of Italian life. it is situated near the town, market and beach. i felt the previous review was very harsh on the hotel, as it does not claim to be of 4 star quality, and the rooms although basic are clean and quite pleasant. it is newly refurbished, and anyone who goes will have a great time there. theres penty to do for all ages, the noddy train, goes around Cattolica and also to Gradara Castle. good night life and friendly people. also good for those who like to shop. the food in the hotel is of good quality and serves traditional italian food, with a choice each night. once a week there is an entertainer, in the hotel bar. the swimming pool is quite large with clean blue sparkly water. and a jacuzzi! what more could you ask for!?
had the time of our lives
My sister and i stayed at the hotel senior this May, we have both recommended the hotel to friends and family, the hotel has recently undergone refurbishment, which has been very tastefully done, the room was very comfortable and very clean, the food was excellent, plenty of choice, we both found the staff to be very polite and helpful, the Hotelier was very helpful, and also very friendly. We were made to feel very much at home for the two weeks that we stayed at the hotel, Cattolica itself was beautiful, and we were not far from places to visit. This was our very first time in Italy and it will definately not be our last, we both intend to return to the Hotel Senior in the future. We can both honestly say we had "The time of our lives at the Hotel Senior" Sincerely June and Liz Lyon
Don't Go If you expect 4 star
My wife and I and our 8 year old stayed here last year on our annual vacation, assured bt the travel agent this was a good standard 4 star hotel Half Board. Breakfast was very poor, except the coffee, the evening meal was very dull re-heated food, we ate there once and then went for a pizza. We stayed the first 5 days ans moved to the Hotel flora at our cost - EUR 900 Full Board A proper hotel I would reccomend, oure Italian food and family hospitality. The Senior was extremely run down, basic hotel with mildew in the bathroom, poor decor everywhere, bad food and a not so safe, very cold, dirty pool area. I did manage to get £130 back in vouchers from Airtours which incidently you cannoit use online so they are next to useless. If you go make sure you do not pay £1300 for a couple and one child, I would expect to pay £600 MAX for this one star establishment - Bring back Florida It's cheaper in the long run.
Great staff at the Senior
The Hotel Senior is newly refurbished and the rooms are very basic but clean and very comfortable with plenty of storage, the balconies are again small. The food was fresh and well prepared although buffet service for first course evening meal when we had to queue was not so good, the restaurant times were very limited e.g. 7.00 - 7.30 but people did come in later than that and were still served with a smile. The staff in the hotel were all wonderful, caring, efficient and very helpful, especially the hotelier who was amazingly helpful when my daughter was unwell. Cattolica itself has beautiful sandy beaches that stretch for miles and are very well cared for, lots of facilities for children to have fun and plenty of sunchairs and parasols. Good range of shops - local shops arrange trips to other areas, the best we found was to San Marino (duty free state) which offered good prices for leather bags, sunglasses and alcohol and Marino glass.
