Submitted By: credosThe rooms were a good size but were not very clean, the balconies were little more than a large window and were not big enough to stand on let alone put a chair on. We were first given a room with only a bath which was really dirty after I complained we were moved to a room with a shower which was better.
The food can only be described as poor. During our stay the food was cooked off site and shipped in and warmed up in the hotel. The breakfasts were continental and were always the same.
The pool was unheated and very cold as was the jacuzzi which, if you wanted to use it, you had to walk into the bar, first putting on your T shirt, and ask the grumpy bartender (nicknamed) Lurch if he would mind switching it on. Most of the time it appeared that he did mind.
Best food locally was a little bar around the corner called Bonnie Prince Charlie (?); we ate there on about 5 occasions.
We met a couple who had stayed there two years earlier and they told us the hotel had changed hands and the standards had dropped. A young woman who worked for Airtours was also holidaying there and she said she was putting in a complaint to her management when she got back.
Apart from that the area was very nice and clean and day trips to Rimini, San Marino and Gradara were very good. Gradara especially as this is like stepping into an Old Italian village a hundred years ago. Trips to Venice and Rome were offered but everyone who we spoke to were left feeling ripped off as the stay only lasted two or 3 hours and travelling took up the rest of the day.
I recommend taking the local transport to these places, as it is very cheap and efficient.
All in all I would say a good place to holiday if you are not in this hotel.

We had a choice of food for dinner, and some other folks staying at much more expensive hotels just got what they were given, and tough!! They were jealous of our choice.
Breakfast is the usual choice of sliced meats, sliced cheese, boiled eggs, fresh rolls, bread, cereals, (four types) fruits, cakes, marmalades and jams/jellies, plenty of tea coffee orange juice etc. If you want a bacon and eggs or English style breakfast, walk for three or four minutes to the Spiaggia, the wooden walkway next to the Sea, for a choice of brilliant upper-deck restaurants, and get whatever you like.
The "Barca" is good but they are all very nice places to get a breakfast/lunch/dinner, we were paying about eighteen euros for a damn good lunch with wine. House white wine is fine and cheap.
For a dinner meal at the Senior, choices always included decent fish, well prepared, plenty of pasta, pasta sauces, a meat choice, chicken was good, the pork was also fine, plenty of choice of salads, beans, vegetables, tomatoes, chips, crispy potato chunks, etc.
Soup available as a first course, also perfectly fine, and always a very nice torta and/or ice cream (Four flavours) to finish. Wine list available, but check make sure your choice is the red or white that you think it may be, they are not split into colour on the list. Price for wine is OK.
Lunch in the Hotel: Good snack foods and some main meal-type choices can be had at fair money, and eaten either inside near the bar and associated area, or outside at several tables. Table service was fine.
The Hotel owners actually run the place, and you will know them by their first names in about half an hour. Nice people. Nothing too much trouble.
There is a lift to the upper floors, only takes four people, so on arrival, go straight up to your room and relax, and come down for your main luggage when everyone has stopped panicking.
Pool table, outdoor pool, very simple and basic "bubble" pool, (not really what we know as a "Jacuzzi") loads of sun beds, comfortable conservatory style chairs and tables near the pool, for reading, snoozing, and bird watching. Pool temp OK but not "warm" as such.
Room’s decent size, with extra-charge Air-Con, some rooms with ceiling fan. Bathroom/Shower/Bidet perfectly adequate, always-available hot water. Rooms well cleaned. Beds/bedding very acceptable. Had no problem sleeping here.
Cattolica is great for those with families, just wait 'til you see the beachside facilities, its one big pleasure gardens all the way along!!
Trampolines, full sized gymnasiums, table tennis tables, inflatable, changing rooms, showers, toilets, bars, ball pools, baby sitters, Boule-enclosures, (with scoreboards!!) slides, hot tubs on the beach!!! Real Big swimming pools with slides, on the beach!!!! Bouncy castles, you-name-it.
Amazing for the kids, watch them play from one of the upper floor bar/restaurants. huge number of beach sun beds at small charge for day/week. Each one with its own brolly. Free beach areas every so often, here and there.
Boat Trips. Lifeguards, Safe and clean beach where they sweep the sand flat every evening. Not one bit of litter did I ever see.
Love the place, can't wait to take my new grandson, Ben, there when he is old enough.
This review is entirely my own opinion, I have travelled extensively the world over, love Italy anyway enough to be learning the language, but this place takes some beating, especially if you have a child or two of any age. Some thing for everyone.

The food was good and the restaurant staff were all very helpful and friendly - nothing was ever a problem to them.
The hotel owner was very approachable and always helpful, ready with advice and information to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
The pool was wonderful, always kept clean and tidy with ample sun beds and umbrellas plus comfortable chairs and couches for those wishing to sit out of the sun.
There was road noise but that can be part of any holiday and it did stop after 12.00.
I would recommend the Hotel Senior to anyone visiting Cattolica it is by far the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in.
Advice: A lovely resort with plenty to see and do. Easy to visit other towns and villages.
Activities: Florence and Venice are lovely days out and of course San Marino is a must.
Good for: Beach
