We bought a timeshare at Westgate Lakes in 2000 and have never regretted it. We go back every year near Christmas. Our apartment overlooks the fabulous lake which is a big draw for me. At night we can see the EPCOT fireworks from our balconey which is spectacular. Although... more

It was one of the friendliest places I have ever been to, if there were any problems they would sort it out there and then. I would recommend to anyone to go there. The apartments are clean and well maintained. There is netting on the windows to ensure no bugs fly in and... more

Dial a flight were very helpful, although a passenger name was wrong (Mr instead of Miss/so we had to collect another lot of tickets at airport, a wait we could have done without). Pre-booked our hire car with them, cost £240+ for two weeks, but had to upgrade from large... more

Just got back from a two week stay in a three bedroom apartment at Westgate Lake and Spa Resort. It was huge and so clean. A roman bath in the main bedroom, 54" television in the lounge. The large patio had the sun shining on it from morning to evening. Seven pools to... more

Not worth the hassle..
On our drive down to Fl, we were enticed by the billboards for cheap attraction tickets, so we decided to stop and check it out. The person we talked to said she could get us 2 Sea World tickets for $50 if we would stay that this resort. The only catch was that we would have to talk to a rep from the resort the next day for an hour just to see if we like the resort and would refer it to friends. Of course, we asked if it was a time share deal, and she said no. We asked several times, and were told no each time. The place looked great, so we decided to go for it. Of course, she lied. We really weren't all that impressed with the room. We had a studio, which was a good sized room, but it seemed kind of run down. The carpet was nasty and the tiled floors made noise when you walked on them, like they were loose or the floor underneath was rotten. The balcony was really nice though. We had a lakeview, and it was all screened in...so no bugs. The big shower was also nice. We, of course, realized that it WAS a time share deal, so we thought..fine, let's just get this over with. We tried to get in touch with the sales office to reschedule our time earlier, but no one would answer the phone or call us back. We ended up just showing up and they ushered us right in. We explained what we were told in the beginning, but we still had to sit through 2 hours of them trying to talk us into buying. We had no intentions, and told them that. Finally, I guess we got thru to them, and they got mad and sent us away for our tickets to Sea World. We initially had to pay a deposit, and no where on our final bill did that show up. We didn't complain, since we got charged less than quoted. The staff was nice...but it definately isn't worth the hassle. We are waiting to see if any charges show up on our credit card...we paid cash for the room. If you are interested in a time share, I think there are better, nicer places. This place is sooo big...you just about have to drive to get around. We will not be back.

So-So
I booked this trip on hotwire so wasn't sure what I was getting. We paid $55 a night for a "four star resort." The resort is kind of rundown looking when you arrive--the condo units need some yardwork done--grass was overgrown and just generally messy looking. We checked in without trouble--I knew this was a timeshare resort and had expected to get hassled. This was not the case--but perhaps only because I knew ahead of time what we were getting into and therefore managed to avoid all the "helpful" people, "free breakfasts" and "discounted tickets." We had a hard time finding our room. They put us in 1015B. We found 1015, but no B. Nobody told us you had to go into that door, which opened to a foyer with two additional doors (units A and B). To make matters worse, when the maintenance men (who didn't speak English) tried to show us how to get to our room, the key wouldn't work. The key card reader was smashed and broken. I was definitely not happy at this point--we had dragged all our luggage to the door and were going to have to go BACK to the front desk and wait in the line all over again to get the key fixed. Fortunately, a nice maintenance man who did understand English let us into the room. Eventually we did get the key to work--but you had to put it in about 10 times before it would read the card. It only worked sporadically--very annoying. The room was okay--clean but you could tell it was an older resort. The sofa is in a really stupid place--in front of the sliding glass door (you could barely open the door because the sofa was in the way) and not facing the TV--it was next to it. The only thing the sofa was good for was holding our suitcases. The room didn't have any lamps either--just two lights above the bed--not so good for reading. It did have a nice whirlpool--we didn't use it but if we'd been there longer we might have taken advantage of it. The patio was HUGE, but only had a table and two chairs. Maybe a lounge chair would have been nice. Overall, the place wasn't so bad--it was just the first impressions that I didn't like. The room was adequate in size and facilities. There is no daily housekeeping--you have to either hang up your towels or wash them yourselves while you're there. We stayed in a studio, but I got the impression that the bigger rooms were much nicer and would be great for families. We didn't go to the pools--the one near us had tons of kids screaming all day. It was quiet at night, though.
Poor Service
Very disappointing. It took an hour and half to check in. Was given the wrong room key three times. Had to drive back to the office/reservation desk each time and wait in line to get my key reprogrammed. When I asked to speak to the manager, he was unapologetic. I asked if he would do anything for our troubles and he said now. I was very patient and was looking for something little for my troubles. Westgate Lakes drop the ball on this golden opportunity to turn a bad situation in to something good.
Westgate Lakes Resort exceeded our expectations
I just returned from a one-week stay at Westgate Lakes Resort, and have nothing but the highest praise for it.We vacationed in Orlando with our children and grandchildren. The 4 bedroom, 4 bath unit worked well to allow all nine of us to stay under one roof. It was roomy, clean, attractive, and well equipped. We enjoyed using the pools, playground and gym, and loved the beautiful lake view. Prior to arriving, I had read some unfavorable reviews, and was apprehensive about what I would find. The Resort, and the condo we stayed in far exceeded all of our expectations. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it. I think it deserves five stars.
Disappointing.
This hotel can be a real hassle to deal with. From check-in to check-out, nothing was simple. They wanted me to go through a time-share sales pitch just to register for my room. I didn't come for the time-share, nor was I receiving any discount for doing so but this wasn't an important to them. When I got to my room, the tiolet kept flushing itself every few minutes. The tried two times to fix it but never did. There was also the non-stop sound of water dripping. They had no idea where the sound was comming from. The freezer door was frozen shut, the rug was bunched up in several places, there was only two low watt lights in the room, the sofa was next to instead of across from the television set, and they has left several plastic bags of trash outside my door. After four calls to the offic, I eventually got a new room and what a difference. Appearantly this resort has several different room types, but the call them the same room type when you register. The second room had no strange sounds, much better lighting, the sofa was across from the television and it also had a table and chairs that the first room didn't. The rug was still bunched up in several places. You need an ID card to get in and out of the resoft complex. Depending upon which building they assign you, the pools can be a long walk. The lake was a dirty blue green and difficult to get to. During my stay I asked for assistance in finding the local AAA office. They pulled out a printed sheet with instructions, sending me to Disney downtown. I went to the location only to find that there was no AAA office there. The Disney information office re-directed me to the closest AAA office which was a good 15 miles away in Kissimmee FL. When it was time to check out, they added a $5 fee which they say supported a Westgate run charity. They will remove the charge if you call and complain.
Con Artists!!!
The resort on Turkey Rd - I was talked into purchasing a vacation stay there, but after I left decided it's not what I really wanted as a vacation accomodations in Orlando. I immediately requested a refund of my $250.00 deposit in writing and returned everything that was given to me on that morning of my presentation. To this day I have not received a credit for that money and have disputed this charge with my credit card company. Thank God I made a copy of the letter requesting that I receive my full refund (in FL you have 10 days to receive your refund on a purchase like this without any questions asked)....well I guess I have to ask alot of questions now!! I would not recommend this place to anyone!! Buyer Beware!!
Loved the Westgate Resort
Westgate Lakes Resort was wonderful! Great service from the staff. Incredible rooms with all the amenities. Wonderful pools with live entertainment. Best Resort we have ever stayed! We will be back soon.
Nice complex for family holiday - worth a visit
Loved this complex. Staff were efficient and polite. Security good.Plenty of pools, parking spaces and good selection of activities for kids. Restaurant service was excellent and the food really tasty. Close to all of the Disney parks and easy to get to the other Florida attractions. We stayed in a studio for a week - large clean room with fridge, microwave, good sized bathroom. Going back for 2 weeks in December - booked a 2 bedroom apartment this time which looks fab. Recommend this place for families
worst trip ever!!!!
my husband and i were planning our daughters first disney trip.we had planned to stay at the carribean beach resorton disney property. westgate called us the night before we made our final reservations and offered to us what seemed to good to be true. they were going to put us in the royal plaza hotel (on disney property) and we would recieve two sea world tickets, a two for one carnival cruise, coupon books, and water park tickets. they said the kids would eat free on the hotel property also. we explained to them that we had to stay on disney property so that we would have transportation to the parks because we were flying in, and didn`t want to purchase a rental car.we even went to the web site while on the phone with them to make sure they were "FOR REAL"
