For a 2 star hotel its excellant value spotlessly clean. Rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towles the rooms are on the small size and if you are at the front of the hotel their is the usual noises i.e traffic ,revellers but we never found it to be a problem . We never botherd with the entertainment as Santa Ponsa has a fair amount of things going on from what we seen their was limited entertainment any way. The pool area is like so many hard to get round and the usual towels on sun beds why the staff cant just collect them up and leave them in a pile in reception beats us this is a way to stop this in every hotel. The beach is a five minute walk if that through pine trees and wonderful parakeets who chirp all day long and is clean and loads of room. The receiption area is very well run and the staff are helpfull. only I moan the resturant after a few other holiday makers reviews we were half execting a bit of hassle from the maitre de. It was hard to define who he was as we had a choice of 3 hard faced maitre de,s to choose from? all of them uselesss. On entering the resturant no one asks you were you want to go or take you to a table its a free for all and if you are lucky to find a table with any cuterlary on it grab the table quick. In one way their only seems to be about 7 staff on all charging around totaly ignoring the hotel guests if they have just cleaned a couple of tables that they are suposed to look after look out?. They choose to have the usual pidgeon english and will try to make you go else wear in the resturant away from if im mistaken an area that they are supposed to look after. Its a shame the resturant staff are not more aware that you are a guest and not a hassle for them as you are keeping these people in jobs?. After a couple of days of grabbing a layed table I just gave in and got the cutelary for my family my self as it was so much hassle as the Maitre de just look on and let you do it. It does grate on you but its the only way we found to deal with them otherwise you will be pushed all around the dinning area. Food is good plenty of choice for breakfast and eveining meals. Overhaul a good Hotel santa Ponsa is a really nice resort with a fair bit going on for all ages dont let the resturant moan put you off just be aware of what you could find.

Hotel Staff 1/10
Majority were unhelpful and ignorant.
Bar staff 3/10
Left children waiting forever at the bar. Some were downright rude and ignorant, though a few were very good. Almost impossible to get served at times
Night Entertainment 0/10
The management chose not to put the air conditioning on therefore it was far too hot to sit in and watch. This farcical approach to entertaining the guests is compounded by the fact that they switch the outside lights off at 12:00 midnight and you are sat in the dark.
Daily entertainment 8/10
Animation team were focussed on trying to raise spirits and entertain the guests, they were probably the only group who were focussed on the guests. 10/10 for them
Food 6/10
Repetitive but reasonably cooked.
Pool 4/10
Pool was clean but extremely crowded. The (female) attendant spent most of her time complaining at guests with a sour faced snarl whilst the second attendant was much more diplomatic and understanding.
Beach 10/10
Beach is fantastic, golden sand, blue/green sea - definitely the best part of the holiday
General ambience is very poor, most people I talked to felt the atmosphere was very negative mainly due to the attitudes of the people working there and the management who run the complex.
Overall the management need to change the culture within the hotel to a guest focussed, warmer and more inviting experience. Until then I would steer well clear.

Visited this hotel 12 to 19 June and found hotel areas and bedrooms kept to a very high standard and very clean with towels changed daily and bed linen changed twice in a week.
There were the usual complaints from a number of guests about the food; I must say the food was well prepared and always hot. It could however become a bit repetitive but it must be remembered this is not a five star hotel and with some hotel guests paying less than £250 for a week’s package holiday on a BB&EM basis (including flights and transfers).
I thought it was good value for money; anyone staying two weeks would probably end up eating out a few times on the second week because of the unchanging menu. However there was very little on the menu that was suitable for children, the hotel did say that the menu changes to accommodate a children's menu in July & August, but with a large number of children staying in June I would have thought a children's menu would be available throughout the summer season.
The pool was adequate and there were always enough sun beds available both at the poolside and up in the solarium, a large number of daytime activities were available and the hotel representatives did their best to involve everyone, archery, football, basket ball, water polo, shooting and much more.
For all inclusive guests there was a snack bar preparing toasties, hamburgers, chips and hot dogs throughout the day, most children did not eat in the restaurant but waited for this snack bar to open, (these could also be purchased by non-inclusive guests).
We were there on a fully inclusive package and found the selection of drinks adequate (again for the holiday cost) with local beers and spirits, drinks’ including bottled water and wine also available free with you meals.
All the staff including the bar and reception were very friendly and helpful, perhaps those who criticise would find staff more responsive it they took time to get to know them.
The only real down side was the entertainment area in the hotel was so very warm than few could sit there at night, even the Spanish Bar Staff complained and the entertainment was the typical very poor Spanish Hotel standard (but who stays in the hotel for entertainment at night).
Lastly if you are offered a room on the first or second floor beware you could end up looking at trees (ten feet from balcony and impossible to see through) for the duration of your holiday.

Husband and I spent one week here after a week Med cruise. We had a nice room overlooking the pool etc. Towels changed daily if required and sheets after three days.
Air conditioning, fan, fridge, TV, telephone etc, wall safe only extra, at reasonable cost. We used the telephone to phone UK several time and cost no more than phoning from outside.
Nice reception area with helpful staff and plenty of sun loungers. We did use the sun terrace away from the pool area.
Evening entertainment was reasonable for our age group. Only negative comments I would make would be the lack of variety in the dining room. e.g. What was on for dinner previous evening was usually on for lunch next day. A bit repetitive and boring after a few days. Other very negative comment was the very unpleasant barman in the evening bar. Slapped glassed down on the bar, often didn't bother with ice. Only time he spoke to us was when he flew into a rage when I got the two drinks order a bit mixed. I really got a bit of a shock and was unwilling to go back again. (Maybe this was the idea)
All in all though we had a good holiday. If we did go back here again think we would pick the neighbouring Pionero Hotel.

This Hotel is very tired and of poor standard for what it claims to offer. Although the entertainment staff worked hard, the restaurant, reception and bar staff were not only miserable but downright surly. No one is at all helpful. The place is not very clean and the restaurant is run in a bizarre way with supply of food running out frequently. Its only good feature is that it is close to the excellent beach.
Would not recommend it at all, unless you are happy with one star accommodation

My stay in Santa Ponsa Park earlier this year was fantastic!
There is such a wide variety of food, it's frightening, there are starters of all kinds (go for the soups), main courses of all varieties (fish, fresh meat) all with brill accompaniments. I don't like Spanish cakes and desserts but they were perfection!
The rooms are plentiful and the balconies are more than decent. The bathrooms are immaculate. The maid cleans the room every day to a fantastic standard.
There are internet sectors, inside bars, poolside bars, solarium, 3 pools, indoor pool, sauna, table-tennis tables and pool tables to keep you entertained. The night entertainment is okay, it is more children based than adult based but i enjoyed it.
It is a very short distance from the beach, pubs, restaurants, ticket booking offices and surgeries. I went on an excursion to Aqualand with a local ticket office and it was first class. I also went on a boat trip with a local excursion centre and that too was money well spent.
There are a mixture of cultures in the hotel, predominantly German or Dutch, but there were some nice Belgian girls there too! There are also quite a few Irish and Scottish people there and some people from NW England but no other Welsh people apart from my family.
The staff are reasonably friendly and the activities are top-class!
I loved my stay here and will be returning to that gorgeous hotel, warm Med Sea and the Euro very soon!

Hotel was spotlessly clean and well air-conditioned. Felt more like a 4 star hotel than 3. Rooms were of a good size and had plenty of space for two adults.
We were on a half board basis (along with 2 14yr old girls who are fussy eaters) and we could not fault the food on any of the 8 days we were there. There was ample choice both morning and night - something for everyone!
I personally found the Spaniards to be quite surly and curt but the entertainment staff were friendly and helpful.
The facilities were first class - 3 pools to choose from including an indoor one, pool and snooker tables, table tennis and a tennis court etc. You could also have a massage if you wanted! No problem with pre-booked sun loungers as there were posters in the lifts asking you not to do so which is an excellent idea.
The weather was scorching for most of our time there. I would not hesitate to return to this particular hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Forming part of the Pionera / Santa Ponsa Playa complex the Santa Ponsa Park is a good three star hotel. Hard working staff, good pool and solarium area with "in complex" daytime entertainment for children & adults (water polo, darts, archery, climbing wall, air rifle shooting, kids club etc). Slightly overpriced in terms of poolside (soft) drinks. Snacks and tapas are reasonably priced. Hotel has seen a programme of small improvements over the last year or so with in room fridges (chargeable) and upgrading of bedroom furniture.
On the down side bedroom paintwork was tired (although the room was kept clean by the maid with towels replaced daily and sheets three times per week. Bedrooms have air-con, ceiling fans and a safe (chargeable).
Food was reasonable with a good range of dishes but because of a lack of seasoning came across as bland and a bit boring. Bed and breakfast would be a good option (if you can get it) as there is a wide range of good establishments in the surrounding streets. Further back from the front the Spanish bars are plentiful and cheap.
Evening entertainment in the hotel was low key in June but with "bigger" acts from July onwards.
Customers to the hotel are a good mix of Brits, Irish, Eastern European, German, Italian and French people.
You need to be aware that because of the low-lying nature of the ground where the hotel complex lies, it does attract midges (or the Spanish equivalent) and they do bite as hard as the Scottish variety. So take a repellent and a sting relief cream and get it on before you step out onto the balcony (early morning or evening) Don’t sit too close to hedges as that’s where the little blighters live! Ants are also prevalent in the streets all around.
As always, be alert for your property as on the last day of our holiday, one gentleman had his video camera stolen from right under his elbow and another had his case rifled in the so called secure baggage area.
That being said Santa Ponsa is a nice little resort and safe and attractive for families. It’s not a clubbers paradise but the Irish quarter makes up for it with well-run, friendly bars and cafes.
Overall, a very enjoyable holiday in a good hotel in a pretty nice resort
