We stay in the Hesperia Playas de Mallorca in Santa Ponsa for 2 weeks in 2010. From entertainment to professional services for the entire 14 nights I would recommend this hotels in Many.
With the friendly atmosphere around the bars and restaurant we truly enjoyed our meal at Rafters Bar & Bistro the most.

Fantastic Hotel
Stayed at the Hesperia Playas on 11/08/07 - 18/08/07. A fantastic hotel in a fantastic location, across the road from the lovely beach. The food was good, hotel extremely clean and friendly staff. Only gripe had to pay extra 70 euros for fridge in hotel room and a further 28 euros for pool view as we had been allocated a room overlooking a smelly airconditioning unit. Even though we had to pay for the extras, I would recommend the Hotel to anybody - it's up to the individual if they require the fridge etc etc. Hope to stay there again soon.
Fantastic location
Myself, husband and twin 17 year old twin sons have just returned from Santa Ponsa and stayed at this hotel. After much price research we booked direct with the hotel. (We flew with Jet2 and used Shuttle Direct to and from the airport. Both fantastic.) The hotel is in the centre of the resort however it is not noisy as you go off to the left to one set of bars and restaurants and to the right to the Irish part of the town and then up to the 'The Square' which is the family area. I am very fussy when it comes to cleanliness of places and I could find no fault with this hotel. It was immaculate. There was also plenty of choice with the meals and always plenty of free tables. A couple of tips: We had rooms 364 and 359. Both faced the sea. Room 364 was much bigger as it was an end room. Both rooms had a double and a single bed in. (Note, the balcony was scorching hot at tea-time.) As mentioned in other reviews, internet access in the hotel is 9€ per hour and round the corner, in the Hotel Isabelle (a?), internet access is 4€ per hour however if you continue on the road up past the Isabelle (on the opposite side of the street) you will come to a cybercafe where internet access is 2.50€ per hour. All in all, an excellent hotel in an excellent location.
Loved the Hesperia!
We've just come back from 10 days at the Hesperia Playas De Mallorca in Santa Ponsa and had an absolutely fantastic time. The hotel is superb. Spotlessly clean, superb location (just across the road to the beach and a short walk to the pubs). The rooms are a very good size - we had a double bed and a single in our room for just the two of us! They were cleaned every day with new towels and bedding. The staff are so friendly, all of them go out of their way to help you and to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Although we never went around the pool (we are beach people!) the pool was cleaned every day and looked very nice, with plenty of beds and entertainment for everyone. The restaurant is a very good size and the food was fantastic. We never struggled to find anything to eat as there was always a big selection. For breakfast, the chefs will cook your eggs as you like them - omlettes, pancakes, fried eggs etc. There's the usual cereals and fruit, but bacon is available for those who can't go without a fry up! I would warn people about the fruit sellers on the beach - they will charge 25 euros for a tiny piece of melon. DON'T buy anything from them. There is a local man selling fruit called Alfredo - he is fantastic and will give you a big slice of melon, half a pineapple etc for 3 euros each. There's plenty of beds on the beach (they cost 9 euros for 2 beds and an umberella), which is massive and never filled up throughout our 10 day stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we can't wait to go back.
Fantastic
We stayed at the Hesperia in 2005 and have to say it was wonderful. We had a bit of a hiccup when we got there at 2am, mostly due to the travel rep who should have accompanied us into the hotel to ensure we could check in but who left us with our cases at the front door and hopped back on the bus (don't go with MYTravel) On trying to check in we were told the hotel was completely booked out and there was no rooms. The man at reception seemed quite rude but I think in all honesty he just panicked and was really mad at the rep. After calming down he managed to find us the last room in the hotel and got us checked in - apologising for the problem. Once settled in we had the best holiday ever. Pool was lovely, entertainment team was great, location excellant. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and clean. The only gripe I had was that there was no mirror in the room - only the bathroom, which meant I had to dry my hair over the sink. But that is me just being picky. Overall I would recommend this hotel - my fiance and I are returning next summer and looking forward to it.
brill
What a brill holiday. From the very start the hotel was great and I have travelled as far as Austraila and this hotel and resort was one of the best. Accomodation was clean, and more than accommodated our needs. Staff at the hotel were great but when I read the earlier report of poor standards it does work both ways and if you have an attitude then its only normal for somebody to react even in the tourist business. Once again the staff were brilliant and for the entertainment Marther and Hester did a fab job as there was only two of them, especially Marther, she could not do enough. The resort is also great, everything within walking distance and not rowdy, the parrots were an added bonus flying over the hotel from the beach area. All in all me, my husband and little boy had one of our best holidays ever, so much that we are going back in August to pick up where we left off. Look out for our update in August 07. Remember when you give respect you will get it back - long term traveller with plenty of experience - remember its give and take. Hotel tip top - if you want 5 star book 5 star!!!!!!!!
not for me!
after reading several good reviews on this hotel i was looking forward to our stay, especially as one of the party travelling had stayed there previously. we booked our holiday over a year ago and there were 6 adults and 1 infant travelling, requiring 3 rooms. requests had been made to the hotel via several emails for rooms nearby and pool view rooms. the party with the infant (who had stayed in the hotel in september) wanted to still take advantage of the entertainment in the evening from their balcony, and as pool view rooms or sea view rooms for that matter were unable to be booked in the uk,requests were the best that we could do and as we had booked so far in advance thought that this would be possible. on arrival at the hotel we were allocated 3 rooms near to each other, on the first floor looking over the road and what i can only describe as a sea overflow gully?!. the rooms were dark and very small. one room inparticular smelt of cigarettes and sewerage. when we went to reception to try and request other rooms the receptionist was extremely rude and abrupt. she said it was only a request and we would have to put up with it basically, however she could move one room to a pool view room, (from another booking due in later that day), however it would cost us 54 euros for the room for the two week stay. when asked whether she would have charged the couple who were allocated that room on their arrival, again she became rude and said that it was hotel policy and that if we wanted the room we would have to pay. so, 54 euros lighter the pool view room was paid for and the rest of us were told to come back the next day, after breakfast and see if we could request to move rooms too. like i said one of the couples had stayed before and recognised some of the staff on reception and so when we went to request a room change , went to find the small blond girl, who had helped them during their previous stay. this girl was lovely and managed to swap the second couple in our party to a pool view room on the second floor. we did not have to pay for this room! what happened to hotel policy! the third couple stayed put in the small poky room(that was five tiles shorter than the pool view rooms) and that never saw daylight, due to a large palm tree, as they could not be bothered to pack and move half way through the holiday. i would not recomend these rooms if you are claustrophobic. on several occasions during our stay we did notice many people having the same problems as we had had on arrival, and funnily enough with the same rude receptionist . we got the impression that all the english customers got stuck in small rooms over looking car parks, roads, etc. the spanish and germans seemed to get the sea and pool view rooms. had the rooms been pre bookable in the uk, we would have done that and had no problems at all but we got the impression that the hotel liked to give priority to other nationalities and so by allocating rooms themselves they could allocate who they wanted where they wanted. it made me wonder whether making a request was a hindrance, as they knew the reasons for wanting the pool view room and could easily have allocated it before arrival, but then they wouldn't have got the extra 54euros would they! the pool area got busy in the late afternoon with local kids coming to use the pool and airbeds, balls, toys etc. . again at weekend the hotel filled with locals taking advantage of the facilities. i don't suppose that during june this is too bad but i can imagine it being annoying in july and august, having to fight for sunbeds with people not even staying at the hotel. the pool area was on a whole clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds, just watch out for the balls hitting you during pool volly ball. the nets are placed directly opposite the kids pool and the stray balls were seen to hit several children as well as adults during the games. beware! the general cleanliness of the hotel was good , the cleaners were very friendly and came round daily, so once the rooms were aired and the smells blown away the rooms were ok. food was good standard and plentiful, although we did eat out several times as the menu did get repetative, but that was to be expected. waiters in the restaraunt were generally pleasant. on one occasion we ate towards the end of the opening times, we found waiters hovered to clear our plates away and seemed to want to get us out of the way, apart from that there are no complaints about the restaraunt. the position of the hotel was good for bars, shops and the beach. we used to get taxis up to the square where entertainment is on nightly. taxis were only 3.5 euros from the taxi rank or 4-5 euros if rang from the hotel. the entertainment and bars at the square are excellent for families who aren't wanting noisy bars but a quieter drink with something going on. hotel entertainment was a little bit poor unfortunately, but this is due to there being only 2 girls with limited resources, but they did work very hard and tried their best. on a whole if you just want to spend your time on the beach and to go out in the evening and are not too fussy about the hotel rooms and about spending your break in the hotel, then this would an ok place to stay. i have stayed in santa ponsa several times before but i would not go back to this hotel. the rude staff and the rooms put me off.
As good as 3 years ago
We last stayed at the Hesperia Playas de Mallorca 3 years ago when it had 4 star status. We had a fabulous time. When we decided to return this year we were concerned that it now only has 3 star rating. We needn´t have worried! The hotel has maintained its high standards and is worthy of the higher rating - honestly cannot see why it has lost a star! We returned home this morning after an excellent weeks stay and will definitely return in the future. The hotel is situated right opposite the main beach of Santa Ponsa in a totally flat location and only 5 minutes walk from the main bus stop. Most rooms have a pool view with partial sea view - there are a few looking directly across the beach that can be booked at a supplement. A few rooms look over a dry riverbed that is great Mossie territory and a couple look over a large Air Con unit that makes a terrible noise 24/7 - suggest you request at least a pool view when booking. Our room was compact but well furnished and decorated with 2 very comfortable Queen size beds and a very attractive bathroom. Hairdryers are not provided but these can be obtained from reception for a small deposit. The room had satellite TV - could perhaps have done with a few more English language channels as only had Sky News and CNN - and, in common with most Spanish hotels there are no Tea/Coffee making facilities but this was no problem as we took our own kettle, mugs, Coffee etc. Mini fridges are again not provided but can be hired from reception. The room/bathroom were spotlessly clean with daily maid service; towels were changed as required and bedding changed weekly. Food was first class with an extensive buffet and several show cooking dishes each evening. Plates + food were always hot. Children were well catered for with nightly burgers + sausages if they couldn´t be persuaded to be more adventurous. 2 soups each evening - one hot and a cold Gazpacho - with a nightly change of Paella/Fiduea. For British guests who cannot do without their full English there was Bacon better than that usually found in Spanish hotels, Sausages, Tomatoes, Beans etc and Fried Eggs or Omelette are cooked to your order at the Show Cooking bar. There was one of the best selection of Cereals + Fruits we have seen for Breakfast here in Spain plus the usual Continental Breakfast items of Cheeses, Meats and wonderful Pastries (try the Cherry Tart - scrumptious!). Entertainment was typical hotel standard and rather loud! Starts at 8.30 with the kids mini-disco then a live act from 10 p.m. - ranging from some very good singers + dancers to a somewhat lacklustre Parrot show! Music by the pool stops by midnight. Bar prices were on the high side but drink sizes were generous. Internet access available but expensive at Euro 9 for an hour. Much cheaper at the Hotel Isabella just round the corner where we used their machines daily at a charge of Euro 4 per hour. We were not disturbed any night by noise from people coming in after midnight as the corridors are well carpeted and doors do not slam. The staff were all lovely and went out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay. We ordered an Early Morning Phone Call for 5.15 this morning and the phone rang on the dot! All recption staff speak excellent English. Guests were a mixture of Spanish and Brits with a handful of Germans and Scandinavians; the hotel caters for all tastes. All in all this is an above average 3 star hotel in an ideal location and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to guests of all ages. We will certainly return.
Good value hotel in nice resort
For a comfortable stay in a clean hotel in a fantastic position this is the one, 50m from the big clean beach, 400m from the eateries or drinking holes, easy to get from the airport and very competitively priced , booking through hotels website we paid £20 each half board. The rooms are spotless, the hotel well run , food ok and plentiful, just remember this is a 3*. We like Santa Ponsa, there are loads of eateries, and good variety of music/ entertainment bars that are busy without being stupid. Give it a go for a good value break, would recomend the sandwiches/pastries from infront of hotel, and for a special meal try the restaurant to left overlooking sea (Meson sur Mer?).... good value for the tremendous meal we had, still as good as 3 years previous.
Fantastic!!!
Me and my Boyfriend stayed at this Hotel for a week in August 2006. We were so pleased with the Hotel and would definetly go back!! The rooms are spotless. Towels and bedding were changed daily and usually when we out, which was great. The pool area was clean and there were plenty of loungers at all times. Plenty for kids and adults to do every day, Wim was great at his job and got every1 goin!! The Bar Staff were very friendly especially Antonio who always looked after us!! Prices at the bar were reasonable!! The Hotel is situated across from the beach and is near to all the bars and restaurants. The only downfall we had with the hotel was the food... didnt like it at all. We were half board at the hotel but ended up eatin out!! I would highly recommend Scottish Corner for Breakfast, really good breakfast and friendly staff. Theres also a supermarket around the corner from the hotel which does the nicest baguettes!!! The best restaurants in Santa Ponsa is Kellys, its beautiful!!! We also went 2 a Mexican restaurant which was lovely!! The best bars are Strings (great for live entertainment), Simplies (for shots) and Barcode 7 (for entertainment). DEFINETLEY GO 2 THE PIRATES SHOW when u visit, BRILLIANT!!!
Excellent price vs quality
Hotel located in Santa Ponça - Maiorca. A local place away from the busy center of Maiorca but with also night life but not the fusy of Maiorca. With a calm atmosphere, nice service, average food. Excellent value for the money.
