Playamar

Went the last week in August, lovely resort, hot weather. We stayed in an apartment which was basic but clean. The bedding wasnt changed durin our week stay which was poor considering it was soo hot but we did have an air conditioning unit in the apartment. I spent a small fortune eating out as the food was very basic and catered mainly for germans but we got our moneys worth in drink durin the day. There was a lovely pub called the little welsh bar not far away which served nice food and lager at 1.50 a pint!! We went as a family of four with two children under eight and it was a cheap and cheerful holiday the staff were friendly enough and all the kids wanted to do was play in the pool. We went with other members of the family )(3 adults )who were in a tiny room with no air conditioning and left with over 50 mosquito bites so i really do think its look of the draw, The apartments you get what you pay for.. however the hotel rooms were terrible!

just returned from a weeks holiday half board. the breakfast just about made our needs .. basically very fatty streaky bacon . fatty eggs cold beans the toaster wasnt working till the next last day of the holiday, only 1 pop machine and always queing. bedroom basic no air con but cud have coped with that but was bitten badly at least 50 times by mossies or wotever they were.did mention this and was given a fan and some spray//.evening meal was awful only went twice.. went to the little welsh bar round the corner instead where food was good and cheap.and the red lion further round the bay. location wise it was excellent very close to beach.

DON'T GO ALL INCLUSIVE!!!!! We paid 375 euro extra for the 'All Inclusive' for five day's for a family of four. If you want air conditioning you have to pay for it, you have to rent a tv aerial for 25 euro a week, you were only allowed to have two drinks at a time served in 1/3 of a pint party cups, They had entertainment on of a night but didn't start til gone 9 but the all inclusive finished at ten on the dot? so if you liked the show you had to pay 3 euro a pint. The food was awful even the Danish and German's thought it was 'Crappy'. All served cold except breakfast which was dire! I lived in Germany for 3 years and I'm used to the food, this was the pits!
A couple we met had £900 stolen from their room, their door had been opened by a key but the Hotel didn't want to know and took no responsibility? The Beds were very small and are suited to people 5'10 or less? If you go self catering you get 2 hobs which are a bit rubbish, a small pan, and a frying pan.
Apart from the Hotel being German orientated and the staff only speaking German or Spanish it does have it's good points! It IS very safe for the kids around the pool area and the location is very close to the beach which was lovely! There are plenty of bars and restaurant's.
There's a bar/diner around the corner of reception called the Welsh bar which was very cheap and had nice food. Sa Coma was better than S'illot and is only a short walk away.
If your smaller than 5'10, don't mind getting fleeced, like eating out, don't need air conditioning or like watching the TV and only want to use this Hotel as a base then I'd recommend it. If your not of that criteria then I'd give this Hotel a miss and book a different one!

Just arrived back from our hols in sillot where we stayed at the playamar. Had a fab time beaches are lovely both at sillot and sa coma and weather was hot. The hotel was ok but the food was awful they cater for the germans but luckily we found a jewel in the crown just round the corner called the little welsh bar not only was the food cheap and good but they do lager at 1.50 euros a pint and have really friendly staff.
We went to the safari but found it a bit over priced and we caught the train to cala millor which is a bigger resort with more shops etc.
We would go back to the resort and we would probably use the playamar again because of it location but not do all inclusive.

Beware!!! There are two playa mars hotelsin Majorca, people make the mistake thinking this is in alcudia ... This is in sillot. 1 star hotel, room so basic just a bed and draws has a tv but everyone I talked to there's didn't work, no aircon which was a killer. Horrible stench of sewage from the room, maids never changed the sheets throughout stay just made the beds. First nite we both got bitten over 50 times over body, went on Internet says they were bed bug bites, which are in the mattress and they only come out at nite, everyone was walking round with huge welts across their body massive infestastious problem here, staff shortage always queuing, food horrible was inclusive but eat out 80% of the time. I have never written a review before but felt this place was so bad I need to warn others. Please don't go to the playa mar in sillot - do so at your own health risk!!!!!

me and my fiance have just had two weeks in playamr hotel.this was a nice hotel,rooms were cleaned every day,we only had a basic room.we went half board, this entitled us to breakfast and dinner.We never really made it down to breakfast, but on the occasions we did we didnt find it met our standards, dinner wasnt much better there was no lables to tell you what half the food was so you just had to guess what you were putting in your mouth. The area was lovely the bars and disco techs around the hotel were good,the welsh bar was the cheapest for its pints (1 euro 50).The restraunts were nice.Staff in the hotel seemed friendly enough. All n all
apart from the hotels foods i would recommend this hotel.

I was not looking forward to this hotel after reading reviews,but i found it a good hotel for a two star.
The room was clean and tidied every day,we had no tv in the room and the bidet was not working but that didn't bother us.
There is no air con in the rooms only in the Apartment blocks,but that was ok as we went in May and didn't find it a problem,it might be in the hotter months.
There was a major problem with mosquito's we were bitten to death,but you cant put this down to the hotel.
The food was very good and something to eat for everyone if you are not a fussy eater.
The reception and bar area were very clean and modern,the lady working in the hotel bar was very nice,she worked as a cleaner in the day,and in the bar in the evening,and was such a lovely person.
There are two good pools but were cold when first got in,the hotel had mainly German guests only about 2% British,all in all food good hotel good and would go back there again

My daughter and I spent 7 lovely days at this hotel.
The rooms were clean the food was good and the staff were most helpful.
To top it all the weather was good.
A very enjoyable holiday.

My wife and I are both aged 60 and we have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Playa Mar Apartments on a self catering holiday.The apartment was large, scrupuously clean and the sheets and towels were changed every three days.
Whilst a lot of the staff did not speak much English, they were very helpful and polite. Hot water was always on tap 24 hours a day. Entertainment was put on several times a week and given the location of the apartments near the beach and shops we had a marvelous holiday.

we read the reviews and some were bad, which made us think that were going to have a realy bad holiday and it was too late to change the booking , but we were very suprised, the hotel was very clean and the was food good, we never went hungry, the towels and bedding were very clean, all rooms were cleaned often and spotless, we thouroughly enjoyed the holiday and were glad we didnt have time to change the booking, could have done with more sunbeds tho and there wasnt any umberells.
On the beach the sunbeds were 11 euros for 2 beds and a brolly, very expensive, but it is a very nice place to stay
