Just back from a week in Puerto Carmen Aparthotel, and I have to say I am glad I didn’t let all the bad reviews put me off. We found it to be clean, friendly and a really nice spot to stay. If you are going on holidays to sit in boiling the kettle to make tea, watch... more

Returned last week from this hotel. Firstly Lanzarote in general. Went on a camel, it’s a must do,seriously great! The caves [north] of the island were pretty good too unless you are claustrophobic. The Brendan Behan Bar is good for karaoke- still going at 2/3 am! The... more

Trevors review
Tho holiday was good. We stayed a week it was cleaned 5 times in the week. The bar food wasnt great, and neither was the music. The pool was cleaned every day early in the morning. My daughter (12) made friends. The entertainment was VERY POOR at the complex.Daytimes adult and teens games none existent.Id advise you to go to the Bodega san jose by the harbour recommended 100% for a very good feed.Recommend 100% Flanagans bar for a great laugh nightly drag artist.El tomatoe rest excellent for pizza and pasta. But service is poor.Id advice the bungee jump by the shopping centre for all ages 5euro.Taxis 2.50c.Mulligans for Irish music for parents. overall really enjoyed it.
(A Total nightmare)
Everyone said when we told them we were goin to Lanzarote.... "lanzarotes a great place you'll love it when you get there" so me and my family thought it would be brilliant. well it wasn't!....It was a nightmare....to start with my granny was with us and she found it hard to climb the 21 steps up to reception and then the other about 10 to get to our room (which was very difficult to drag suitcases up)...We where in the middle of no-mans land and we had to climb a hill to either get to old town or new town which was about 10 mins walk.....the entertainment was absoulutely rubbish!!....karoke was on like every night and no-one sang....a man even came to sing and he sang in half spanish half english which never entertained anyone....all the children where under the age of 10 and had kiddies club which was ok...But for teens like me there was nothing for us to do... The pool was a bit dirty which gave me and my 2 sisters ear infections and we had to go to a doctor but the slide was really good fun....Overall we didn't have a good holiday that we expected and i wont be coming back again!
Loved it
We stayed here last August and we found the apartments gleaming and the staff very helpful but very overworked i went with my partner and we had no kiddies with us there was a lot of noise at night come entertainment time but on the other hand if you did have kiddies with you they would have a great time.If the pool area was to packed we would head up to our room and relax out on the balcony which had a great view of the pool. Our room was cleaned on a daily basis and the apartment had every thing you would need. The food was ok by the pool but it is well worth it to venture down to the old town where you would have a great choice of really excellent restaurants and then head to the new town for your nightly entertainment
Mosney in the Sun
Just back from a week in Lanzarote, stayed in the Puerto Carmen Apthotel, as another reviewer said it really is "Mosney in the Sun" it was a nightmare to lie by the pool as there were kids running mad round the place so unless you have kids stay clear!!! The initial impression of the complex was that it was nice as the reception area is lovely but the apartments were only "cleaned" as in a change of towels and sheets once, the floors weren't even washed or brushed and I had to use the dustpan and brush to clean the floors. I would advise you to also rent a fan as it gets very warm. The entertainment consisted of a girl playing a xylaphone on a stage one night and a karaoke another night which nobody even bothered with cause they were so pathetic!! Check out El Tomat just beside the shopping centre for the best food on the Isle and El Ancla & Puerto Cascada in the Old Town for other excellent restaurants, avoid the Lani chain of restaurants as the food is terrible. All in all I wouldn't recommend the complex if you are looking for R&R.
Brilliant Time!!
4 of us Went to Puerto Del Carmen and Stayed in The Puerto Carmen Aparthotel, We are all ranging in ages from 23-26. Lovely apartment. Cleaners called every two days and they were nice and spacious!! The only thing we were a little wary of was the pool. we never saw it being cleaned and as the week went on the water seemed to get a little less clear. didnt stop us though!! The apartments are only a 5 minute Max. walk from the main strip where the Bars, Restaurants and Beach are. Entertainment every night in the Hotel Bar. not always a Room filler though! There was alot of families and Couples in the apartments and around the general resort itself. Good for a relaxing Holiday but i generally Wouldnt recommend Puerto Del Carmen to a group of young people out for alot of fun. Very Coupley!!
Wouldnt recommend
We have returned from a weeks holiday in Lanzarote, staying in the Aparthotel Puerto Carmen. There were three of us on holidays and we went there hoping for relaxing, quiet break. However the stay in above apartments proved not to be the case.! On arrival on Sunday, we discovered that our ' studio' had not been cleaned properly. There were clean bed clothes and towels but the floor had not be swept at all. We asked for this to be cleaned twice and finally it was done. So not a very good introduction to the place ! But we said we d still have an open mind ! Asking for a pool view, was probably our biggest mistake. Night time entertainment started at 11.30pm which meant that there were people around the pool / bar area till 2am ,3am and sometimes later, as a result we were woken up on 4 of the 7 nights we stayed there by the noise. Ringing reception to ask if the noise could be kept down , didnt get us anywhere. However I have to be fair to our rep who did the best she could for us, as we were not the only ones complaining about the noise. I appreciate that people go on holidays to relax and enjoy themselves but after 4 nights of being woken up from noise, it seemed as if we werent on holidays at all. Our week of relaxation was beginning to look more unlikely . The apartments are situated on the side of the road basically. We thought we were in the wrong place when the taxi dropped us off . The pool itself is very small and packed with kids..so we mainly headed away to the beach - Anything to stay away from the apartments, that had no air conditioning. The general complex looked dirty and shabby. The whole place could benefit well from a power hosing. I would advise anyone contemplating a stay here, to think again.Personally I wouldnt set foot in there again. We've been on holidays to Lanzarote and Gran Canaria in the past and nothing was as bad as these. A lot of these accomodation are basic , no one expects the Ritz but these were in our opinion well below basic. However despite the apartments we still had a great holiday, beautiful restaurants to visit, nice beaches, beautiful weather ! Just stay else where would be our advice. From three Cork girls.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Just back and we (three of us) Stayed for 1 week. Initially we were hesitant because of the amount of Irish guests but found the area where our apartment was very quite and we hardley saw anyone. The rooms were very clean, cleaned every day. Decent size and everything worked. The Staff were excellent. Apartments were a good 10-15 min walk from the town centre and 5-10 mins from the old town depending if you stop and look in all the shops. There are some very steep hills so would wear comfy shoes and maybe maybe not suit eldery guests. Although a taxi at most was €2.50. Apart from the walking the place was excellent everyone is very friendly, transport and amenities outside the door, lounge and pool areas fab. We had a lounging area right outside our apartment which was excellent coz it was away from all the kids at the pool area. Food at the pool bar was lovely bar staff were exceptional (we named the bar man Smithie) we were all fond of the hamburger and chips :) Can highly recommend Pinochio's for an evening meal. We paid €340 each for the week, money well spent. Tours from the hotel are so worth the money, Gran Tour was fantastic (long day) Titty Trollops is and excellent night, The Submarine Safarie was really good and would reccomend anyone try the Texas Rancho Night fun to be had by anyone even families (as the kids are catered for very well). Definately go back but would bring the boyfriend next time :) as i personnally found it a very family and coupley place.................. but well worth the adventure :)
Location Good, Apartments terrible
We are a couple in our early 30's and we stayed here for two weeks last August. The apartments i found to be a bit shabby & we were positioned over the bar, which meant there was no chance of sleep before 2am. Also, we stayed away from the pool totally. There were so many children running around unsupervised, we had to head to the beach everyday. Food in the bar was not to my taste, to say the least and the evening entertainment was really geared for kids. Absolutely no chance of a relaxing drink here with all the screaming & shouting. I have been to Lanzarote before & I have stayed in some lovely places but I would definitely not be returning here & I wouldn't advise anyone without children to stay here either. Nightmare!!!!!!
excellent
Stayed here 10/04 and found accommodation and staff to be first class, a bit far from centre of Puerto Del Carmen but taxis cheap Would recommend it without hesitation
fun in the sun
Stayed for 2 weeks late September early October. Initially was taken aback by the amount of Irish guests 'Mosney in the sun'. The rooms were very clean, cleaned every day. Decent size and all functioning as they should be. Apartments were a good 1km from the town centre and 0.5km from the old town. Are up some very steep hills so maybe not suit eldery guests. Although a taxi at most was €3. Apart from that the place was first class, people very friendly, transport and amenities all outside your door, lounging areas and pool A1. Had a great sing song with all guests most nights and the evening entertainment was good for kids. Food at the pool bar was debateable, depends on who was working and choice of grub. Can highly recommend the old town for evening meals Puerto Cascada 'the one with the ques' and El Tomat, being favourites. Paid €369 each for the fortnight, money well spent. Tours from the hotel are worth the money also, Catamaran and titty trollops definately a winner. Definately go back.
