Good value. Poor location
from BondMacclesfield-UK
Great hotel for a cheap break. All inclusive food is pretty good. Plenty of choice. Entertainment is on the cheesy side, but fine if you like that sort of thing. Location is poor. Hiring a car is the only practical way of seeing anything other than the hotel. If you just need somewhere to relax by a pool whilst eating & drinking, then this place is perfect. If you want anything else though, look elsewhere.
not the greatest

we went with 1 baby aged 20 months 1 son 12 years old when we arrived we were put on the 5th floor it was mega hot and thats when we found out there was no air con on IWOULD NEVER HAVE BOOKED THIS PLACE IF ID HAVE KNOWN THAT! we asked for a room change so we moved to 2ndfloor which was alot cooler. when we got ther we asked were our cot was and we were told we had to pay 5 eorus each night i was appalled at that.however we had already had a bad start to the hol so we paid 70 euros for the 14 nights whwn the cot arrived it looked like a cage my daughter screamed her head off when we put her in it and i carnt say i blamed her so we sent it back and she slept with me and my parntner on 2 single bend which were pushed together and spent most of the night slipping through the gaps.the beds were the worst ive ever slept on in my life. there was no fridge in the room so we couldnt keep her milk or water cool.when we woke up we all had terrible sore throats dry tickley coughs and felt like we had something stuck in the back of our mouths we literally got ready and straight out the room the balcony was to small to sit out on n ours faced a motorway so was not pleasant anyway. the resturant was a nightmare as there was no air con on my baby cried everytime she went in...the staff were very rude and un helpful there was not enough high chair so sometimes she had to sit on my knee people were very unfriendly towards all of the distressed babies and toddlers that were going in.you were not allowed to take food out of the restaurant so if u didnt eat there u had to eat in the bar which was fine for snacks but certainly no good for meals i had to wrestle my daughter play games and try and force her to eat we were always stresses before and after the resturant as were many other parents,. the sunbeds were jammed together so when u had your pushchair you struggeled to get around and had to constantly ask people to move there beds which again was stressful. the only good thing i found was the entertainer exspecially eric he was fab and put his heart and soul into keeping the guest happy he was under paided and over worked the mini disco was the only part of the holiday my 20month enjoyed. the queues for the drinks became a joke towrds the end of the night u were queing for up to 20-mins to 30 as people were all doubling up there drinks. i would def not recommded this holiday to children under5 however my twelve year old made lots of friends and was constantly entertained he enjoyed the holiday my partner and baby did not
its okay, nothing special but value for money

Just getting back from week at Ola Maioris staying 1st week in June. Taxi from airport cost 28 euros, they seemed to bump a few extra euros on at the end with it being a Sunday. We arrived before 12 noon but got checked in straight away but at their sister hotel (Delta Hotel) as was told upon arrival that there was a water leak. Yeah yeah whatever - it later became obvious that they were overbooked, anyway given that it was just me and the wife and we heard some good reviews about the Delta we went along with it (oh yeah forgot to mention, we had to sign some disclaimer saying that we wouldn’t complain about this move - mmmmm a strange start then). The Delta hotel was right next door to Ola Mairoris and not too much of an inconvenience. In fact it was more of a relief as it offered a much needed respite from the jam packed Ola Maioris hotel. The Delta had two relatively quiet pool areas including a roof terraced pool. They also had free baggage storage and nice changing facilities next to the gym so we were able to freshen up for our late flight after checking out. Our room at the Delta was clean but no air con, didnt bother complaining as I wasn’t allowed to!! Plus if you read this website you are already clued up on what to expect. The bed was very uncomfortable and the tele was a small brick with only CNN and BBC world news english channels. Couldn’t see any sign of Setanta or Sky Sports at the hotels. Back to the Ola Maioris, the fresh foods - salads and fruit, soups and bread were excellent - no complaints there. However the main meals left a lot to be desired especially the meat dishes which we soon learned to avoid since the meat was mainly cheap off cuts - some german man complained saying it was "impossible to eat the meat" - well don’t eat it mate and just stick to some chips instead! We spiced things up by venturing out for evening meals a couple of times at the nearby Maioris restaurant/shopping arcade which was pleasant enough, if you could avoid all the dog poop on the pavements (got to say not impressed with the lazy locals who don’t pick up their dog’s muck). The tables in the restaurant were packed close together and not much room for manoeuvre but we found the plates, cutlery, tables and glasses always to be very clean. You sometimes had to wait outside for a table to become available given the numbers on site but you didn’t have to wait long given the number of staff changing over the tables and clearing things up nicely. As for the drinks, they were okay, the beer was some local beer called Estrella Damn, it tasted like a weakish Amstel but was fine. The wine and sangria was from a tap and didn’t taste good. You could pay a proper bottle of wine if you liked but was between 7 -12 euros. But you could get a nice cold drink of cava from a bottle as part of the all inclusive (until 11pm), so don’t be shy in asking for it. The spirits were all cheap equivalents but tasted okay and the bar tenders weren’t shy in filling the glasses nor did they query the amount of drinks ordered. Although the bar staff weren’t the friendliest of staff, they worked damn hard and managed to keep the queues moving. In general, all staff were pleasant and very hard working. There were also lots of different people staying at the hotel, young old, couples families and from many parts of Europe but mainly German and British. The hotel had plenty of things going on for the very young although I would reckon the teenagers would be bored easily. I wouldn’t recommend the internet stations they have as it costs 1 euro for 10mins and is very slow. We wouldn’t come back to this hotel since not really the best for couples and really for us our holiday was saved by being able to retreat to the Delta Hotel for a much more pleasant relaxed atmosphere. I would think families with young children would however enjoy it. But all in all though, this was definitely value for money.
Brilliant

Wonderful hotel! I had to write a review on here as I found them extremely helpful before we went and I felt I knew the hotel before I got there! The food was brilliant, loads of choice, my fussy 6 year old even managed to eat well all week! Breakfast had everything you could possibly want with self service drink. Lunch and dinner were similar with a wide selection of salds, meats, pasta and fish, and a wide selection of desserts and loads of melon!! Staff were friendly, entertainment was brilliant especially the kids disco every night which my 5 and 6 year old couldn't get enough of! The hotel was so clean, the rooms were clened every day and the whole place is spotless. The place is quite remote but we spent most of the week by the pool and had no desire to go anywhere else, lovely and relaxing. Kids club in the day 2 hours in the morning and 1 and half in the aftrernoon, they had great fun ther and gave us a little break as well!! The beach at Arenal is wonderful for the kids very calm and shallow although you do have to pay 5 euros for a sunbed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it was our first family holiday abroad and we enjoyed it so much we hope to go back later in the year! Its such good value I really dont know how they can do it for the price !!
Very goood!!

We had all inclusive and it was the best buffét ever. Fresh, many dishes and great personal. They were so friendly! The cleanliness was great allover the hotel. The pool was nice. The only thing i have to complain about was the miniclub. They had a whole floor wich was a map with streets, houses etc..but not a single car to play with. They had a "ball pool" but almost no balls in it. They have to buy some toys. They had painting stuff & paper. But that is not funny for a week..
Oh my god..........

I always check trip advisor before booking .. so was absolutely gobsmacked so many ppl put that this was a good hotel???? Not sure where to start.. we got there and was told we had to stay in the hotel next door but come back to the hotel we had booked for food and drink?? When we explained we wanted to stay in the hotel we had actually booked! we were told to come back & speak to management in the morning .. either sit in reception til then or go to the room they supplied us in a different hotel?!?! The next morning we got a move back (most didn't!) to the original hotel. The room was grotty and the beds were like sleeping on the floor but that made an almighty noise each time you moved :o( The food, well.. It left a lot to be desired. There certainly wasn't a trained chef working there. Honestly, this was NOT 4* hotel. I'd say 2 bordering 3* if i was been kind. There was ONE bar in the hotel so there were queues all the time. Bearing in mind, this hotel was full and it also had ppl from the hotel next door using it aswell.. you can imagine how busy it got. All inclusive stopped at 11pm .. and there was no air conditioning. We actually booked this hotel cos of the reviews & the fact of air con. They said it wasn't hot enough?? June wasn't hot enough! It should have been my choice if to switch on, not theres! I've never known such a 'tight' hotel. The lights in the loo's had timers on. so you could be on the loo and it go dark. You had to pay for anything, safes, pool, crazy golf.. anything at all. You had to pay for towels but did get that back thank god! but you had to pay 2 euros a day each to have your towel changed! that you didn't get back. The hotel backed onto residents .. who owned dogs. So we were woke each morning summat to 7am to constant barking. The whole experience was just terrible. I just can't understand the ppl on here putting that it was great. It was run down, the staff were rude, the food was dreadful.. the whole holiday was just a nightmare and I was glad to come home. It just was not my idea of a 4* hotel. Maybe spain have different standards??? If you go away often and you like 4* +.. honestly .. you will hate this place.. wish it was a different review.. but unfortunately not. The only positive thing about this holiday was it was only 2 1/2 hrs on a plane!! :o(
Fantastic value for money and service with a smile

We have just returned from a 1 week all inclusive holiday at this hotel and I had to get straight down to writing this for others to see, when it comes to value for money, cleanliness, service with a smile and a fantastic holiday for families look no further - you will not find better than this hotel. Forget all those horror stories about all inclusive hotels not giving out more than 1 drink at a time, or not having decent spirits for drinks or not allowing ice cream for kids when requested etc at this hotel there are no restrictions and nothing is too much trouble. The staff are helpful, friendly and very hard-working. Book here now, you won't be disappointed, you may come back overweight though as there is food provided all day and all night long!!
Good value for money but wouldn't go back

Just back from the Maioris Hotel and had a nice 7 day holiday there but what would stop me going back would be that they refused to switch on the air conditioning even although the temperature was 36 degrees! Apparently it doesn't get switched on until July (although the description of the hotel failed to say that) so be prepared for sleepless nights with the heat. The food was very good and the drinks were okay, with a choice of 2 cocktails but they're not quite the same in a plastic cup. I read reviews saying that the bar staff were really friendly, I thnk they must all have been on holiday somewhere else the week we were there as there was very rarely a smile from any of them. The rooms were nice and spacious and the towels were changed every day which was great. All in all, I enjoyed my week there but wouldn't go back.
Fantastic stay

just got back from a fun fab week here. The rooms are great and lots of room for the 2 of us had a great pool view also which is just what we booked The food was excellent, you really could not moan one bit! At breakfast there was bacon, sausages, egg, beans, mushrooms and then there was fresh melon, toast, omlette's, cereal, croissants etc. At lunch there was salad, fish, chips, lot's of meat etc, there was so much variety. For dinner there was fish, salad, pasta, chips, lasagne, spaghetti, potato's etc. There was so much more than that aswel. During the day there where poolside snacks, offering croissants, bread rolls, baps along with ham, salami, cheese, olives, melon etc. There was also crisps, cookies and sweet things! What more could you ask for?! The drinks where really good, you could literally have anything you wanted and not pay a penny! There was all sorts of cocktails, wines, beers, sangria and self service for soft drinks. During the day the drihks are in plastic cups (healthy and safety) and then in the evening they serve them in proper glasses. The two main swimming pools are both lovely and never had a problem getting a space on a lounger. The rooms where cleaned everyday, fresh towels etc. Hotel was always clean and tidy too. The hotel is a little isolated but is lovely and peacful during the day! There is a little shopping centre near by which has a couple of bars and places to eat and couple of shops to buy newspaper etc . But there are free buses into Arenal and Palma, which we didn't do becasue we where happy and satisifed lying by the pool all day. the entertainment staff were excellent, each day was something different which was really good. They would do rifle shooting, archery, football etc... If you won the different activities then they would give you a diplomare which the entertainment team in the evening would call your name and get you up on stage to collect it, and sing with them, there was plenty to see at night time had different shows to watch at night they do a mini disco for the kids with dancing and then the show which is very family organised and then they do more dancing which again all the family can join in. erik roberto lila and igor are great but erik is fantastic and has so much energy. I had a bit of an accident and the staff were fantastic all ways checking that i was ok which i cant thank them engouh. Overall this holiday was excellent and we could not fault it in anyway what so ever. So don't listen to the people who moan about it, you will have a fantastic time!!!! We met loads of really nice people there so if u see this you know who you are hi and get in touch
Brilliant holiday!!!

We have just returned from our 9 day stay at the ola maioris and had a wicked holiday! This was our first family holiday abroad with our children aged 9 and 12 (their first time abroad) and we were greatly swayed by the good reviews on this site when we were booking. We arrived late at night so didnt get to see much on the first night but were really impressed by the look of the hotel and by the size of our room. We had a family room on the fourth floor which consisted of a double bed and 2 singles with loads of wardrobe space and a lovely bathroom. The first 3 days we had terrible weather although not bad enough to stop the kids from going in the pool, albeit they were the only ones!! The bad weather did enable us to meet some great people though. The hotel was very mixed, lots of english, german, dutch and belgian guests as well as a few spanish ones too. As for the food, i managed to eat a different meal every time i sat down as there was so much choice. They had a hot and cold buffet with chips, meat, fish, salads etc as well as bread of all descriptions and lots of different puddings! Breakfast was the same, loads of choice, eggs, bacon etc or cold meats, bread rolls and toast. Basically whatever you want!! Drinks were self service. There was a cold buffet at the bar on offer all day long with crisps, bread rolls, cakes and fruit. The soft drinks were self service at the bar as well as the coffee machine but if you wanted alcohol or ice cream or a slush puppy then the barmen were always about (all dead friendly). Now for the entertainment staff. There were four working 6 days a week from early morning until late at night and they kept us thoroughly entertained! They really try to get you involved! Erik in particular was brilliant!! They did various games throughout the day which you could join in if you wished and i would recommend it as it was a right laugh! They worked so hard to make your stay fun and my kids enjoyed the evening entertainment so much we've even come home with some of the spanish songs embedded in our memories! Eriks impersonation of freddie mercury was spot on also!! The hotel runs a free shuttle bus into Aranel (which has a beautiful beach) and palma which i would recommend cos its free! There are a few shops and supermarkets nearby for ciggys and newspapers if you want them, also 2 supermarkets and a pharmacy. Theres also a nice pizzeria where the shops are! All in all we had a fantastic holiday, we made some great friends, ate some great food and came home with a lovely suntan and feel throroughly relaxed. We could not find fault with this hotel in any way and anyone who did must be proper moaners - you get what you pay for but i think we got so much more than that. I would recommend this hotel for a family break. Its not for you if you want the whole clubbing thing, although there was a hen party staying with us at one point!
We have just returned from the Maioris. Four adults who wanted a break wuithout the children. We wanted a holiday where there was nothing to do but chill out by the pool and not have to worry about food and drink. We got everything we wanted. The hotel staff are really... more
