More Traveller Reviews of Luna Park Tropical
we loved our stay
from dondib
me my partner and my two children age 2 and 5 , went for a weeks holiday here last week. we loved it. the hotel we clean and tidy i thought it was really nice inside.we had no problems here. the staff were freindly and polite. the food is ok, it just gets a bit repetitive as they only change one or two thing on the menu each day but ive had worse food.and as for the big steep hill you have to walk down to get to the beach, its a steet that has a slight decline. it really aint a problem. the hotel is close to all amenties and the beach is a 10 min walk away and its goergous. i think the people who didnt like this hotel must be used to 5 star accomodation cause it is a nice hotel. dont be put off by the reviews. i will defenatly go back there again.
Not as bad as the reviews make out!

Well what can i say, after reading some of the reviews on this site i was slightly worried about going to this hotel. But what i found was that the reviews are nothing like what i experienced. Hotels- We stayed in the Luna Park hotel, this was the main hotel (and i personally think it was the better hotel). The hotels are both clean and well upkept. The bar service was very slow and the queues got quite long so make sure you order 2 drinks for yourself each time you go so they last longer! Our air conditioning worked perfectly one night i even woke up and had to turn it down because i was cold! We heard no noise at night, no one running around screaming, banging doors nothing! Food- The food was always lovely! There was a very wide selection and there was always something for everyone! The chefs were always bringing out new trays to replace the old food. English Bars- There were very few English people staying at the hotel so if you want to socialise with english people there are two British bars i highly recommend. The first one is called the sports man bar ([--]) its the closest to the hotel, its upstairs so look out for an British flag sticking out! Its always lively in there and you can do karaoke. The second is called the Queen Vic, this is slightley further away. To get to it walk right up to Burger King then take the next right and it is just about a hundred yards up the road. Hope this helps you! Please dont worry too much about going here as it is a lovely place to go and you will make some wonderful friends!
Please If English Stay Away
from spellypants
OMG if it wasnt for me NOT letting the spanish occupants in the hotel ruining my hol, it would of been a absolute disaster. As the only two english people staying there, we were ignored, shouted and taunted at and taking the micky out of for been english, this was maily by the spanish students that overrun the hotel. they had no respect for there own country or people. From 2am until 7.30 am every day there was banging of doors, partys in the corridors, shouting, fighting, girls screaming. My freind who i went with is half spanish and to say the lest she was ashamed to be. After complaing to the hotel staff and getting no-where with chat, i had no choice but to raise my voice-it was 4.15 am and there was a party in the corridor, so you can understand my frustration, at this point the very rude member of staff said I,YES I, was disrespecting the spanish and if i carried on he would phone the police!!!! if you ignore the other reviews please dont ignore this one, i was only there last week. Im english, love a great hol, a great drink and a great time, but this was behond a joke. JET2.com currently hold my complaint aswell. I have to say the polietest and the quietest was the GERMANS!!!! after talking to local english bar owners in el arenal this hotel in mainly occupied with spanish and german students and english are put in spare slots!!!!! I wouldnt definetly go back to that part of majorca as the second language is german and there not good at all at english. there is also only 3 english bars on the island, 2 1/2 miles apart. Not a great place at all.

Flights: I flew with BMI baby from manchester airport, booked direct, cheap flights, cheap travel insurance. Taxi: I got a taxi from the airport, there is a huge taxi rank all under cover, with taxi's waiting. Very Easy. Cost me 16euro from airport- hotel and vis versa. Hotel General: ***YOU CAN USE EITHER HOTELS FACILATIES, RESTAURANT, POOL, BAR ETC.. ONLY USE LUNA PARKS*** I was allocated to the Tropical Park hotel (rather than Luna Park- Sister Hotels). Receptionist's are friendly although there can be a language barrier. Unusually laid-out difficult to find room, lifts at other end of hotel. LUNA PARK SEEMED AN OVERALL BETTER HOTEL!!!! BIG BAR AREA WITH ENTERTAINMENT Room: was quite small but served it's purpose. Double bed, TV, AIR/CON, large balcony over looking both pools. Bathroom compact again but had everything in it. SAFETY DEPOSIT BOXES AVAILABLE FORM RECEPTION AT 3euro per day + 5 euro deposit. My room was in a bad location literally on the stairs, and was awaken every night, with people coming in.Overall it's no 5* so dont be suprised it is basic. Pool: Tropical Park's pool was ok, some dirt in water (from trees) no bar or food area, sun loungers available. LUNA PARK POOL MUCH BETTER, CLEAN LOTS OF SUN LOUNGERS AND SHADED SEATING AREA, BAR WITH SELECTION OF DRINKS: LOCAL-ALCOHOLIC SPIRITS, BEER, SOFT DRIKS, COFFEE/TEA ETC.. ALSO BBQ COUNTER SELECTION OF BURGERS, HOTDOGS & CHIPS. THERE IS NO ICE CREAM! Food/Meals: Tropical Parks restaurant was very poor, limited food selection very quiet, 10-20 people dinning, unmaned bar. USE LUNA PARK: FOOD SELECTION MUCH BETTER, WARMER, SET TABLES, LARGE WELL MANNED BAR -FULL ENGLISH -CEREAL -CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST -PASTA -CHIPS -FISH -MEAT BALLS -BREAD LARGE DESERT SELECTION! Area/Resort: El Arenal- short 5-7 min walk to beach, very hilly not recomended for people with disabilities. Gorgeous beach white sand and turquoise water, plenty of shops, supermarkets etc...( watch the prices, there is a supermarket that the locals use just 2 mins from the hotel ask staff "El Arenal Shopping Centre".) Attractions/Things To Do: Go to Aqua City, a water park 10 mins from the hotel, can buy your ticket at hotel reception, they will give directions. No 15 Bus to Palma. 1.10euro each way, 40-60 mins. Bus Stop: Playa Palma. Walk down to beach and walk a good distance 500-700m, and you can't miss the bus. Palma- Cathedral, Tour Bus (must do) OVERALL RATING: ** WAS DISAPOINTED WITH TROPICAL PARK, KICK-UP A FUSS TO GET IN LUNA PARK. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND, HOWEVER IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BOOKED DON 'T CANCEL- IT IS OK.
not as bad as they say
from elmo2001
here goes the food was very good there was somthing there for everyone salad ,meats veg, differant varietys every night. you couldnt go wrong. even snacks burgers hot dogs, sandwiches from the snack bar, the accomadation was clean and adequate . not for disabled i strongly advise the rooms was just big enough to get around in with three beds in. the bathroom was a touch small really with a sliding door. the pool area was nice but it could of done with being a bit cleaner even thou the pool attendant did try a mop and a little elbow grease wouldn,t of gone a miss there is no access what so ever for the disabled down to the pool as you after go down about 20 steps .even down to the dinning room you have to go down two flights of stairs.with no lift access overall if your abled bodied and young i would reccomend this hotel to you . it seams to me this hotel could of done with being a 18 2 30,s complex lookely enough we had a pool view room over looking the sea which was almost perfect it was very quiet we as the other side of the hotel was a little noisey later at night . as the hotel was adjecent to its sister hotel.
don't listen just enjoy

my friend and i spent a fantastic 5 days all inclusive at this hotel at the end of april 2007. we had read several reviews most of which suggested that you should stay well clear of this hotel but we had a great time and found the hotel great.it was clean the staff were freindly the food was great in fact i would have to say the only down side was the BRITISH and there're crass behaviour. yes there were alot of dutch nad german people in the hotel but we always got a hello or smile and nod from them at breakfast etc.- as for the food my friend is vegatarian and also an extremely fussy eater but both she and i found the food to be well above what we expected and we never had the same things to eat whilst there ,we took the hotel picnics out most days with us and found them to be good consisted of sandwiches, fruit, cake etc. as for only being allowed 2 drinks at a time most hotels that are all inc only allow you to get 2 drinks at one time. in short don't be put off by reading other peoples reports i think you should give this hotel a chance.
Think Twice
from EnglangDsr
I and my husband have just returned from the Luna / Tropical Park Hotel, and I can tell you there is nothing tropical about it. Maybe it was the time we went which was from 5th may to the 12th. We went all inclusive. The hotel was just over run with German or Dutch people at one point I did think, myself and my husband were the only English people staying there. The food was ok if you like mushrooms in vinegar for your breakfast and very runny scrabbled eggs. There was your normal hams and cheese selection for breakfast. The hotel was quite clean but my main complaint is the noise from the other guests. Shouting and banging of doors and general rudeness. The hotel was also under going some building work so; we had banging in the day, from the work being done and doors banging from guests at night. If you do not mind sharing your holiday with this kind of person I would recommend it. Even though it was A/I you could only get two drinks at one time and no way would hey let you have a ham toasty with chips but you could have a burger and chips. And you could defiantly not get any food for your partner, they had to go and order it them self. Oh and god forbid if you might want a sun parasol they do not have any. I would like to say that the staff were all welcoming and friendly but I can honestly say I think there was only two I would say were that. To sum it all up NO WAY I WOULD I RETURN TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN
Bad idea
from PalaceCroydon
The hotel seems to be a stopping off point for various entertainment groups ( pan pipes. drums, dancers and tumbling midgets ) from around the world who required cheap accomodation and the chance to practice their talents any time of the day and night. Constant noise from these groups and german teenagers who seem to have to shout all the time to converse with each other. The trip was booked last minute and I failed to read reviews before we left, big mistake and could not wait to come home. To sum it up do not go there, pay the extra and hopefully enjoy your break elsewhere.
clean, friendly hotel
from mazo
me and my husband have just returned from 7 days at this hotel. after reading the reviews on this site i was terrified about going and very nearly cancelled, however, it really isnt that bad. the hotel was generally clean and tidy and our room was very clean. the food was good with plenty of choice and variety. the food was not always piping hot though and tea and coffee were only available in the dining room at breakfast. the waiting staff in the dining room were very friendly and worked really hard to keep the tables clean and free from dirty crockery. the bar staff were also very friendly and there was an excellent choice of spirits and soft drinks available. the two drinks per person rule did seem a bit daft to begin with but we soon got used to it. we did not have to queue for long to be served either. the entertainment was ok and i spoke to the entertainment guy who told me he is waiting for more equipment to be delivered so he can improve the quality of entertainment at the hotel. hi tony. now for the real problem.... the noise. it really is noisy at this hotel, our room was at the enterance to the lifts and the noise from this was unbelievable. there was not a night in our stay that there was not some person or other running and shouting along the whole length of the corridor at all hours of the night. we were in tropical park and the sister hotel luna park seemed to cater for younger people who would gather in the front of the two hotels singing shouting and screaming till the early hours of the morning. the hotel would really be suited to a 18/30s hotel. if you can stand the noise then its not a bad place to go but if you want rest and relaxation this is really not the place. look guys if you want five star hotels you have to pay five star money.
Hated this hotel
from buzibee
My mother and step father was taking me and my younger sister Bethany to Luna Park. It was my first time abroad and was reallylooking forward to it. But I was hugually dissapointed. This was not a hotel for children. The pool area was dirty and had swarms off wasps and other indects hovering around. The pool was freezing and not heated. We had paid for a room onlooking the pool. But all we got was a huge tree and if you bent over and leaned round the corner you could just see the pool!! The entertainment was said to be reasonable for children, this was a lie it was more for the older generation. The bar was packed and did not have very good air con. I was very dissapointed with the hotel. Although there is alot of problems. I got on well with the staff (bar men) as the taught me spanish. The food was delicious but there was no icecream being served at the barbeque for around the pool.
