me and my wife have just returned from here and i have to say it is not as bad as people have made out the we went all inclusive the food is delicious theres a whole different variety. The pool is lovely there are 2 pools and bar which serves snacks and drinks all day its very lively around the hotel and the pool which is too be accepted we are english and we had no problems with any other nationality the staff there are really polite the only down fall is the rooms in tropical hotel were horrible our view was a grotty wall and the rooms were very basic the hotel was not to far away from the airport cost us 20 euro. The beach was a ten minute walk away from the hotel with a couple of hills but worth the walk as the beach is absoutley stunning.Entertainment on a night could be better as theres not much to it just a disco all in all the hotel is for 18 - 30s alot of young people just having fun everything apart from the rooms was really nice also aquapark is a 15 minute walk and costs 24 euro for adults 12 euro for children

  • Advice: get out look around lovely place

Nightmare Holiday.

We stayed here for 1 week, 27/4/11 - 4/5/11, 2adults & 2 children (3 yrs & 13yrs old), booking through lowcostholidays.com.
We have been on a few all-inclusive holidays before and for the price we paid, we were not expecting perfection.
Firstly, with regards to the hotel, -you pay for what you get. The hotel overall is ok, basic but definitely in need of a refurb. The staff are friendly but overstretched. Usually 1 or 2 on the bar most evenings with long queues for drinks & 1 at the poolside bar in the day. Again long waits for snacks/drinks etc.
The rooms are very basic but we did have our sheets/towels changed daily which was nice.
The cleanliness around the hotel is questionable - inside not too bad but outside it is terrible. Cigarette ends around the pool and on the steps, plastic cups left everywhere. The pool area feels unsafe with one lifeguard between two pools ( he also wore jeans! ) and lots of steps/slopes which were unsafe for our youngest kiddy.
The reception staff were helpful when needed and were happy to answer any questions/problems.
The food was terrible. Breakfast consisted of various hot-dog type sausages, boiled eggs & tinned mushrooms every day. There was also a small selection of cereals, cheese slices etc but none of these were very nice.
The evening entertainment consisted mainly of a DJ playing a mix of euro-pop & chart music, and on a couple of nights they also had a singing duo (not good), a belly dancer (not good) and some old guy who sang along to backing tracks (terrible). He was taken over by drunk guests.
We rarely got to sleep before 2-3am due to noisy guests coming in from the bar downstairs or local nightlife.
Aside from the hotel, if you are considering going here, be aware of the local area. We were reliably informed it is one of the cheapest areas to rent a place in Majorca. It is very run-down in some parts and rough, particularly at night. We were followed home along the sea-front one evening by a man in a car. He kept on pulling over when he got level with us and staring at us, then driving on. He followed us for the best part of half a mile. There were no police around and we felt quite threatened. He left when we entered a local British bar. A local guy told us this was a common occurrence. The idea being, you are scared into walking up one of the darker side-streets and then mugged for cash. We felt very threatened by this, especially as it came as no surprise to the locals.
On our last night, at around 9pm, we also saw an attempted bag-snatch. A man casually walked up to a young girl on the main promenade and in full-view of everyone, he tried to yank her back out of her hands. She kept hold of it and he just walked on. He was with a couple of the local watch/sunglasses sellers and looked very intimidating. Again, no police around and nothing was done.
We also spoke to a few people in the hotel and bars who had been pick-pocketed and threatened in the local bars. The guys who sell fake watches etc on the main promenade also openly offer cannabis & coke for sale, even when we were walking along in the day with the kids.
One final downer is the local PR's & hawkers - they are very persistent. We have travelled all over Europe to most resorts but this place has to be the worst. The local restaurants/bars PR people are very persistent - some even physically stopping you as you try and walk by. We had them putting flyers in the pushchair, stopping our eldest daughter ( local tattooist trying to persuade her to have a piercing!)and following us up & down the prom.
On a good note, there is a great British bar (The Sportsman- Liverpool orientated but very friendly and nice) and the beach is super. Safe for the kiddies and clean. The shops sell the usual holiday tat but some good bargains if you have a look. Wouldn't bother with the glass-bottomed boat as it plays loud disco music and probably frightens the fish away!
Also be aware that this hotel, along with the rest of the resort is very German-orientated. Most of the bars, clubs & restaurants all cater primarily for Germans as did the hotel itself. If you want Spanish (or British) facilities, then go to another resort.
I hope this helps someone before they book. We aren't snobby by any means but we do like a decent time away. We wouldn't recommend this hotel or area to any British families, couples, groups of friends or even stags/hens purely because there are other places on the island that cater much better. However, if you want an eye-opener and are prepared to take as you find, then go for it & good luck.

One word - awful!

My fiancee and I weren't expecting the Ritz, just a cheap getaway for week - but if you stay here any standards you might have should be left at the door! The room we stayed in was grubby and very basic. Two single beds (on wheels) pushed together which roll apart as soon as you lie on them, bed sheets had some suspicious looking stains on them. The hotel itself is awful - the drinks are all served in tiny plastic cups and are seriously watered down - you'd have to drink your own body weight to feel even a bit tipsy. Also, if you love the taste of coconut or mouthwash then you'll love the drinks - they all taste like one or the other! The bar staff make up their own rules depending on their moods - one night you can have 1 drink, the next 2, my fiancee had trouble getting a drink for us both if I went to find a table first. The worst part of all is the food! A repetative selection of food which looked (and tasted) like it had been left out in the sun for days on end before being served up - yummy! The hotel itself is quite noisy in the early hours. We were woken up every morning between 3 - 6am by shouting, screaming and people running along the corridors, banging doors and even trying the room's door handle - pretty scary so definately not a good idea if you have any kids. There is no entertainment in the hotel - just a spanish guy playing a cd of barry white songs. The best entertainment was watching the ferel cats chase the rats around the bins at the back of the hotel (which was our lovely view from the balcony!). We wanted a cheap holiday but ended up spending a lot eating/drinking out 'cause we couldn't stand the hotel. The area of Arenel is not great - the beach is nice but it's basically a long strip of shops selling the same tat and not much nightlife. You also get hassled ALOT by people trying to sell you sunglasses/watches/hair braids/bizarre neon fish on string.
This is the only holiday were I couldn't wait to go home, we were literally counting the days down. By the end of the week my fiancee and I were joking about filling our bags and pockets with heavy rocks and walking out in to the sea, it really was that bad!! So do yourselves a favour, if your considering staying at the hotel luna park - DON'T!!

We have just spent a week in this hotel - glad it wasnt two!!
Hotel is not very clean. We expected a double bed and found we had two singles pushed together - and boy were they uncomfortable!!! You get one pillow, which is wafer thin - a thin blanket and what looks like a curtain thrown over the top. We found a couple of itchy blankets in the wardrobe, so had to use them to keep warm.
Our balcony had one plastic chair on, as it was tiny (we were in a corner room of the hotel) and it had a window with rusty old bars on, which made it look like a prison!!! People walking along the adjacent corridor could have seen us on our balcony had we chosen to use it.
Food was diabolical - cold, tasteless and almost the same thing day in, day out. Breakfast was the worst!! We only tried it once and that was enough. The dining room gets packed out - and the Spanish are sooo rude with their constant pushing and shoving (all ages, not just the young ones!!!!)
The staff have trouble understanding English, except the main barman who is brilliant and so much fun. Everyone got on with him!! The queue at the bar in the evenings is very long - but once you get a beer its ok. No bar snacks, you only get them at the poolside bar during the day.
Positives - the sun was shining all week and we had no snow :) :)

me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel with some friend this april and we want to go back next it was great. the staff were nice if you were pleasent and not stuck up like the older brits we seen. yes the germans could be a pain but so could we. when you look at these reveiws most people dont right the good things as much as the negative because the miserable negative ones right more because they feel they have too. but we liked this hotel food was good, beer was good it did the job if you know what i mean, staff great and the location wow- the beach is brilliant can get crowded, nightlife is great however i agree the hotel entertainment is rubbish. Fab holiday aslong as you keep an open mind when you get there and not beleive you are stayin in the ritz for £20-30 a night.

My Friend and I wanted a nice getway however this was not the place to do it!!
We were all inclusive and the hotle was 98% rude germans aged 18-35 very lound rude chanting all the time... pushing you out of the way at meal times in the que and also to get in the lift and when queing for drinks.
Absoulutely no manners at all. The germans stare at you when you are eating constantly and try to intimidate you as you don't know there language. I speak a few languages so not lazy , however very suprised the germans did not no any english and did not wish to speak to anyone but their own kind. They also kicked your door in virtually on some eveings at 5am when they were very drunk and tried to get into you room VERY SCARY
When we called security they DIDNT CARE ..NICE ?? what if we were raped or something happened???? NOT GOOD
Bar staff nice rest very rude and didt speak any english room never got cleaned very dirty and we got given towells with blood and dirt on them one evening..when we complained they tried to give they same ones back but folded differently !!1 what a cheek
We spent most of our time going to palma and magaluf a couple of hours away on 2 buses to get away from it. we couldn't wait to leave..Thompson should advise full of germans before you book!!! very bad on their behalf.

I've read so many bad opinions about this hotel, i was afraid of staying there. But... it was great! everyone here were complaining about the staff, but the staff were acually awesome. Barmen were always sympathetic, always smiling , we were always joking with the main barman, The queue was huge but they were nice to everyone even if they had to stand behind the bar for hours without a break. Waiters in the dining room were also very nice, generally if you were nice to them, they were nice to you too. As someone already wrote - they were the ones who had the right to complain. They had to deal with all those crazy, rude, drung teeneagers. They had to clean up all the [--]
About the germans. I've had no problem with them - okay , they were always drunk and noisy, but generally they were nice and fun to watch. Who I've had a problem with, were Brits. Those guys where not just drunk, they were agressive, trying to pick up a fight with staff who were trying to quiet them. I woke up in the middle of the night because they were throwing chairs on the street, out of the balcony. I never feared drunk germans, but those brits I was afraid of even in the lift! they were calling people names and they were very rude to girls. The great thing was that they were thrown out of the hotel after the balcony-chair incident. So it was well again.
The location is great for night life and the beautiful beach. It's very close to the shops, bus stop and everything you need on vacations. I think its best for young people who wants to have fun and meet new people. Germans and Spaniens were very nice (not all fo them of course, but generally), local people were very outgoing and sypathetic.
It was very cheap, and 3 stars so I don't understand people who were ekspecting something very sophisticated. It was the best you can get with this prize.
I absolutelly recomend it, I would like to come back there even this summer.

I went here with my girlfriend last week and to sum the hotel up in one word - HORRENDOUS.
It is full of german 18-30s getting drunk from morning to night. There manners are non existent and all they do is clap and chant. we averaged about 3 hours sleep a night. Its a disgrace they advertise this hotel to english people as the few other english people that were there wanted to fly home early. unless your a young german DO NOT GO!

If you want a holiday that is over taken by rude loud Germans with no manners this is the place to go. The food was cold and the same everyday. The bars shut at 11pm. Where you were then told "shut" must leave now and were ushered out of the bar. The pool was ok if you didn't mind being spat on my lads from their balconies above you. If you are disabled forget this hotel as everywhere you went there were steps. The staff were very rude and not helpful. At night you had to sleep through the noise of Germans running up and down the corridors banging on doors and ringing the phones randomly in the rooms. The security in the rooms was bad and 3 out of the 4 rooms we stayed in were burgled and we had to call police. The manager refused to talk to us. So trying to talk in broken English and Spainish to police we manged to sort this with no help from hotel. The rooms were ment to sleep 3 were so crowded there was room for 2 single beds and a put you up bed was squashed in as well so you had no hope of opeing curtains. The bathroom was clean although it could do with a spruce up. The towels were changed everyday but don't leave anything on display as the maids tend to be light fingered. All our clothes had been gone through and put back in different places. the hotel was very close to resort and the beach was great with a many different shops.

worst holidays ever!!

May 2009, natalie 21

me and my husband booked our honeymoon to luna park in january and i wish i had read the reveiws first. it certainly was not value for money, we paid £850 for the both of us for one week the room was very cramped with 2 camp beds put together that were very uncomfortable, there is no fridge in the room so bottles of water were warm and we were infested with ants and after complaining 3 times a cleaner came up and sprayed them and swept them away which did not solve the problem. The worst part of the holiday was the germans, iv not got a problem with german people but they were rude, arrogant and the whole place seemed to be catered for them, many times in the restaurant we were pushed about and knocked in to and constantly being stared at. The hotel is very boring no entertainment at all and many nights we tried to drink enough to sleep through the constant shouting and dragging around of furniture but after 11pm you have to pay for your drinks which are very over priced, there is just nothing to do they put no music or anything on, and to go outside the hotel at night you need to be able to afford to pay £5 per drink. our rooms were swept daily and beds were re-made every day however we had the same sheets on our bed all week. i would not go back here if someone paid me! first time ever that ive been away and actually got excited about coming home after only 2 days.

Apr 2009, mayday

When my son aged 5 and i got to the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable although the belcony was unsafe as my son could fit through the gaps and we were on the 4th floor!
There was hardly any entertainment for children during the day and at night it was the same thing every night for the week!
good thing my son met some lovely british boys who helped entertain him!
If u were nice to the staff they were nice to u but some people where rude so the staff were rude back!
There were alot of Germans and spanish people, they were friendly and livend the place up but the noise at stupid oclock was not on especially on the floors but when reception was called they sent someone up and the noise stopped until the next night!
The food was a hit and miss!
The drinks were ok but the cocktails were awful!

Just came back, group of 8 blokes in our 40s out to play golf. A lot of the comments that people have made are correct, lots of Germans/non british, rooms basic, not great evening entertainment, big steep hill to get to beach and is a 3 star facility. But you are paying approx £30 a day for an AI packedge what do you expect !!! you cant stay anywhere in this country for that so why expect it abroad. Staff were fine/helpful esp when we tried to speak spanish. The site has about 4 pools which where fine, yes this is a site mainly used by Germans but we did not have a problem and had a good laugh with them,as a group we were probably one of the loudest and yet no-one ever said a negative word or look our way. If you want to be surrounded by other brits then go to Magaluf around the bay, and like any big costal hotel you will get some noise till the early hours, just make sure you drink enough to help you sleep!! We eat more food in the hotel then any other place we have stayed at, and there are a number of other reasonable priced places around. This may not be a place for sensative souls but if you use it as a base at £30 a day the it is great value.
