Ceiba Del Mar Resort & Spa Hotel

My Husband and I spent 5 days here in Feb 2004 and would go back in a heart beat. You walk into the open air lobby and are seated in comfy chairs, greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and cool wet cloth to refresh from your travels. The ocean view rooms are creatively designed, well appointed and immaculate. Continental breakfast is supplied to the room (the coffee is great). I stayed at Ceiba in June 2003 for 5 days and had an amazing, amazing time! If you are looking for a break, this is the place. If you want night life, go elsewhere. Typical day: wake up to breakfast (brought to your room). Breakfast on the terrace, followed by an hour at the gym, followed by hot stone massage, facial, or seaweed wrap. The seaweed wrap was followed by a shower in an open air, enclosed shower. Spa services were usually followed by some beach time. Then, time for lunch. More beach, nap. Shower for dinner. What a confliting palce ..on one hand it is quiet and pretty on the otherhand the service is serverly lacking -- everything from slow waiters and cold food to allowing dogs to pee on the beach every day. The beach and rooms are average, definitely not luxe, although they are fine. Food is suprisingly good although inconsistenly served. People are extremly friendly and that goes a long way. My friend and I escaped to this gorgeous boutique resort in February and ever since I have yearned to go back. The staff treat you like royalty (ridiculous service with a huge smile), the facilities are beautiful and it is close enough to Cancun to be a short drive from the airport but far enough that it has nothing to do with the scene there. A bike ride away from a cute little village and a 20 minute car ride away from Playa del Carmen - what must be the most fabulous town in Mexico (you feel like you are in Europe). GO!

My wife and I came to Ceiba Del Mar the last week of Sept 2003 for our honeymoon. I honestly can not say enough about this place! It is truley a rare find in my opinion. From the moment you arrive, you are treated like royalty. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful, the service is phenominal! And to top it all off, the price is unbelieveable! I highly recommend the all inclusive package, it can get very expensive otherwise. My fiance and I visited Ceiba Del Mar in July 2002. We were pampered from beginning to end. The staff always had smiles and wanted to know how they could help you ( much of the staff previously worked at the Maroma, which is also a beautiful hotel but far more expensive). The all inclusive deal that we had was hard to beat- $900 p.p. included ALL DRINKS, ALL MEALS, 2 FACIALS & 2 MASSAGES! This place is paradise conveniently located south of Cancun (twenty minutes) but it will seem like worlds away. The service was excellent. There is a private jacuzzi atop each beautiful building with rooms. The rooms are constantly stocked with drinks and all drinks are inclusive. The food is excellent. I got an all inclusive deal for 3 nights from Liberty Travel for 800 (for two people) which is much cheaper than the hotel itself offers. Make sure to store your passport, money and panties in the room safe -- literally. During our stay my underwear and two other guests lingerie was stolen and the hotel management has yet to redress the issue.While I would love to give Ceiba del Mar a high rating for friendly and efficient staff, beautiful rooms, good food and a lovely pool area, I feel that I could not possibly recommend this resort to others given the management renitence to resolve this.

As we arrived at Ceiba Del Mar for our 10 day honeymoon (7/14- 7/23), 2 valets escorted us out of the car, whisked our bags away, and led us to check in where Champagne and warm towels awaited us. This royal treatment continued the rest of our stay consistently across the board throughout all aspects of the resort. We thought we were in pure heaven until we saw the kids - everywhere. Just came bact from 3 nights, July 6th - 9th with my new wife and I. Perfect for a honeymoon. We were treated like royalty, the spa was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and the room was terrific. We did the All inclusive plan, which I highly reccomend, and had a 3rd floor junior suite, which was excellent, right on the ocean, two balconies over looking the ocean, 2 large sitting areas, and a great tub that can open up to look at the ocean.
