Foot Prints on the Sand Hotel reviews

1 / 10
Aug 2010, Unique

I recently stayed @ Foot Prints, 1st time in Ja. (Aug2010.) and i so regret it. The hotel is in desperate need of refurnishing, the rooms, bath and outside is a complete turn off. First impression is very important and the this hotel gets an F all the way. I would... more

Not so great
Just returned with friends from a one week stay at FootePrints. I have to honestly say that we were very disappointed with the service we recieved from staff and also with our accomodations. Our rooms were not as we expected, they were dingy and depressing. The staff were very indifferent and aloof towards us. Other guests seemed to have issues with no hot water in their rooms. This seemed to be an on-going problem. The beach area was ok, considering the recent weather damage to the area. We spend most of our days walking up and... more
Best time ever, looking forward to next year!!!!
.This was my first visit to Jamaica, my wife's second and our friend's eleventh. Our friend suggested this hotel as she has stayed there before. Honestly, after reading some of the negative reviews, I did not know what to expect. I have stayed in hotels from Super 8 to the Opryland Hotel, so I am aware of what is considered to be an elegant hotel and what is budget hotel. I would rate this hotel a bit above average for the location, cleanliness and helpful maid service. I felt our room was very adequate space wise, especially for three... more
Many better options in Negril
We stayed here for two nights in September 2004 because buying a package with it was actually cheaper than buying air alone - we had a villa for a week right after this elsewhere in Jamaica. For free, it was fine. If I'd paid anything over $40-50 a night for it I'd be upset. The room was just OK, kind of dark, small balcony looked over staff cleaning area. Bed OK, bathroom, OK, all clean...but pretty dated. Our TV did work. I dislike the location, we have been to Negril several times and prefer to stay further down the beach where... more
You get what you pay for
First let me say if you decide to travel to Negril be prepared to be badgered by every single native you encounter. If you are white you are expected to be rich, careless with your finances and addicted to drugs and/or in need of a taxi. We arrived to this hotel to be greeted by some random guy they employ to sit around and take your bags 5 feet to your room. We check in to receive one key and a remote for our tv since the tv's buttons were all missing. Then this guy brings my friends bag(single) to the room up one flight of stairs... more
Save your money, dont waste it here!!!!
This was a total rip off!!!! Not only did Air Jamaica complicate our trip by getting us there over 12 hours late. The hotel's driver did not show up to pick us up from the airport. We got in at 4:00am and had to be checked in by the night watchman as there was no one atteding to the front desk. The room was another nightmare with missing light fixtures and lampshades. There was no balcony as advertised, no remote for the TV (so it was impossible to turn on as there were no manual buttons) and no complimentary toiletries. We were too... more
Never Again!
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in January. Our room was extremely small and dark very misleading from the photos we saw online. The restaurant is pricey and the service abysmal! Whenever we went to the beach two gentlemen, who I am not sure if they are affiliated with the hotel or not, pestered us constantly, even after being told we were NOT interested in whatever they were peddling / selling. One day while we were on the beach in front of the hotel, I had to use the washroom. I went into the lobby of the hotel and... more
good place, great location...
This was the first time my wife and I went to Negril. At first we did not like the hotel at all. We had the hot water problem mentioned by other reviewers and things did not look very clean. After complaining about the lack of hot water, the problem was actually fixed by the hotel personnel which is very friendly. The location of this hotel is great. A lot of places at the beach to eat. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all different places. Hence, if you cannot book another place, I would still recommend to book at this hotel just... more
Exactly what we were looking for!
We stayed at Foote Prints from 11/27/04 to 12/02/04, and it was not nearly long enough for us. With something like 27 rooms, it's a small and cozy place with a friendly atmosphere, nestled directly on the beach. It's not fancy, and don't expect any complimentary toiletries, but it's clean, comfortable, and perfect for those looking to avoid the huge resorts. Our room was spacious enough, and well-kept. While not fitted with the most modern furniture, it was all functional and in good shape. The mattress was firm and the bedding was... more
Missing Foote Prints
Although I only stayed here one week, I really did not want to come home. The hotel reviews I had read, were not brilliant, but I can assure you that I had an excellent time. The location could not have been any better, and although Ricks Cafe was still not open due to the hurricane in September , the sunsets were superb from Foote Prints. The Hotel staff treated you like family if you took the time to get to know them. I met a lot of tourists that appeared not to want to see the real Jamaica and the real Jamaican people. I feel that... more
Management response from FootePrints

Let me say thank you to all the guests who have chosen Foote Prints Hotel to vacation above all others. We try very hard to please all our guests and to keep our facilities in top shape. While we cannot please everyone we apologise if anyone stayed here and experienced any discomfort. Our rooms have recently been refurbished and with this exercise out of the way, we are happy to welcome both repeat guests and new visitors to our hotel. A friendly, caring and dedicated team is here to make your vacation truly special. For those contemplating a trip to Negril if you need a calm quiet haven, then Foote Prints is the place to go. ONCE YOU COME,YOU`LL KNOW. Mrs. Ingrid Daye Marketing Manager.

Cockroaches in the Bathroom!
I knew from the other reviews here that this hotel was not going to be the best I ever stayed in, and sure enough it wasn't! Its an OK hotel all in all, the bad points about the room is offlaid by the excellent position the hotel enjoys. At the end of the day Jamaica is a lovely island and even if you stay at this tatty hotel, you can still have a great time! The rooms were large, but very tatty. Badly finished around skirting boards and mirrors leaving gaps for cockroaches and other creepy crawlies to live in. We awoke on the... more
