Very nice hotel in a very godd position...with a wonderful sea...
BUT:
- the food was horrible and you find every day the same things...
- even if the room is large, it's not clean, and they change your towels just once a week...
- there is an animation staff, but they don't do anything, except of the night show...
I enjoyed my holiday just because of the wonderful sea and the wonderful people I met there...

The hotel was beautiful!
All the staff members were nice, with the exceptions of the front staff, but if you’re polite to them they will be in return.
The rooms were bigger than I thought they would be, and were made up nicely every day.
The food wasn’t bad it was just different! They do not have the same food as we do. But you can always find something that is similar and still good! Make reservations at the restaurants they are 100 times better than the buffet.
The pool was amazing, I never had to wait at the bars, and the snack bar made the most amazing burgers I’ve ever had!
We went one day to Havana, and it was amazing. (Even the cemetery commented on a few reviews before, was such a cool thing to see) .
I really have no complaints about this hotel; I loved it and would definitely be back if given the opportunity!

From start to end we cared for like royalty. we were upgraded to premier on the plane (an absolute must for any long haul flight),
The resort was beautiful! The staff were wonderful and very friendly, the beaches were out of this world and the food was amazing. Very local but so, so yummy! I would recommend this place to any traveler!
We visited Havana which in itself was amazing, another holiday just discovering the treasures of this much hidden city is required.

Absolutely perfect. The beach and the staff made the holiday. I would definitely go back. The food was lovely - always a lot of choice. The maid service was excellent - towels and linen changed daily - always fresh flowers in your room. The pool area was kept clean - entertainment was basic but the staff got everyone involved. Rooms were basic but what do you expect in Cuba!

After reading alot of reviews on different sites I was dreading going to this hotel. When we got into the hotel the room was clean and spacious, we went down for a meal, which was ok. The next day the sun was shining and everything was fine.
During our two weeks holiday there we found the people to be very friendly even out in the town. The room was cleaned every day with new towels. The food was good we are quite fussy eaters but found something every day. If I was to be picky about the hotel the pool bar only had 1 staff on at night and it did accumulate queues later on at night and it did close at 11pm although the reception bar was open 24hrs, but no beer served there. Also the restaurant did not replenish the empty trays quick enough, but anyone going and eating in la tasca look for leobel the waiter he will look after you, you only have to be pleasant in return.

Jan 2006, Ms C O'donnell

I went to this resort for one week - 30th November until 7th December 2005 to celebrate my 50th birthday with my daughter. The food was dreadful - unless you like runner beans and soggy fries for your breakfast! I stuck to bread and cheese. The pork and chicken was nice. The coffee was gorgeous. The accommodation was the worst I have ever seen - it was like something from Butlins in the 50's - it was depressing and it really stunk. I am not exaggerating I would have cried only I didn't want to upset my daughter any further. I regret not asking to be moved - others did and were successful but I didn't get the opportunity as the first morning, we were whisked off as part of the welcome meeting and it was all about booking trips etc. I booked lots of them.
The 2 day platinum trip to Havana/Pina Del Rio was wonderful apart from the hour we spent in a cemetery! Ask to be picked up later from Havana. I couldn't believe that I was actually spending part of my birthday day in a grotesque and morbid environment. The trip, apart from that, was fantastic - not to be missed. Take some toiletries with you to give to women who are begging - we didn't know what they wanted and regret that. The one day catamaran trip was breathtaking - but don't buy the DVD - there was nothing on the one I bought and watch you don't get ripped off with the dolphin swim - it can work out very expensive with the video and photos - take your time and think about the cost.
But all in all, apart from the accommodation, which did bring me down (although I had a reprieve on the 2 day Havana trip - staying in a 5 star hotel), the holiday was an experience. The beaches are breathtaking, the Vinales Valley and other rural areas are outstandingly beautiful - they fill you with nostalgia. The Tropicana is world class. It's not to be missed but watch out for your accommodation at the Gran Caribe Club Kawama - it will undermine all your happy memories.
