We stayed at the Veramar late Aug early Sept , we only paid €420 for the 10 nights. The appartment was very clean and well equiped, the staff friendly and the location was great. We never used the pool as you are only a 5 min walk to the beach. Loads of bars/resturants to... more

I stayed in these apartments for a week in Aug/Sept 2010. Was very pleased with them. The apartment was basic, but clean and had everything you needed. Towels were changed daily, and beds changed frequently. Pool abit smaller than the average, but still a decent size. Big... more

I was in veramar hotel in april 2010 and it was excellent. The staff was very friendly at reception and we even got a free room for a couple of days for my family since there was a mix up in our booking. The problem for me was getting there since the address given to us was... more

We stayed in a so called family room which was a room with 4 single beds a fridge and a microwave. This room was far too small for 4 people. There was also a horrible smell in the room all week. The Veramar apartments are however clean and in a brilliant location 5-10 mins... more

The beds was terrible!!! If you don´t have a backproblem before you go ther you will have it when you leave... The staff "no speka engles" but they try their best. It´s a wore down hotel (and i´ve stayed in some really bad hotels) I wouldn´t go back.. try the pyramid hotels instead :)
Simple but great!
I stayed here with my boyfriend and the apartments are simple but very adequate for our needs. Hotel is in a perfect location, a 1 minute walk to a large supermarket, 5 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes to the main restaurent/pub district. The staff were very helpful, friendly and sopke good English. The pool and all areas were clean. The pool bar is really reasonable, we ate each day there for 5 euros. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a cheap and simple place to stay in a great location!
Very Poor
I am 22 and my boyfriend is 28. We arrived on sat 21st July.Certain Staff were not very helpful at all.Room floor was dirty, bathroom sink had hair's in it and bed sheets were all marked,No air con be warned!!!!we had a stupid fan that cost 2 euro aday to hire + 10 euro deposit. The next afternoon the cooker started sparking and making a banging noise,i went to reception and they came to my room (didnt speak english!!) and the water was leaking from the kitchen tap along to the cooker and running on to the electricity cables!!We then had to move rooms to 7th floor. What a difference room was cleaner and much better. The area is very nice and we had a good time, weather was really hot.Places to eat- steak house-walk along main front towards busy part and look for sign its up on a back street to your left.Pizza places are nice and you MUST go to pit stop cafe/pub people are so nice went every day after the beach for a drink. I would NOT go back to this apartment as although all we wanted was a base it wasnt up to standard at all! How they keep open i do not know. I think they should knock it down and start again!!!!!
Small & Dark
We were meant to spend 8 nights at the Veramar in May 2007 but we only stayed for 1 as we didn't like it at all so we moved to a nice hotel. The room was tiny and dark, the lights did not work apart from 1 in the kitchen, the room just about fit a double bed in and a table, the bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen, not enough room for a full size bath and the kitchen was tiny, how people prepare food there I do not know. The area is not very nice and I heard someone was attacked outside the Veramar so not safe for a lone female to walk about as at night it is very dark and lots of small side streets; it is not easy to find your way from the hotel to the sea-front, we thought we were closer to the beach than we were, it is not near the Fuengirola centre either.
Basic but nice!
We booked last minute with 'holiday's you like' for mid-August so snapped up what we could find! Unfortunately, after promisses made by the tour operator, our taxi transfer didn't turn up and we were stuck at the airport at 4am. However, when we finally got to the hotel it was nice and friendly. Our room wa nice and clean with a basic kitchen and a half working fridge. The feezer was brilliant but for some reason the fridge wasn't cold and the milk we bought went off the next day. There is no air-con but you can hire fans for $2 per night. (with a frozen bottle of water infront of it, it's nice and cool) Breakfast in the hotel is a bargain $4 inc juice and coffee, but the cooked stuff was a bit cold and greasy. Howvever, there is also toast and cereal. Over the road there is a cafe which does lovely croissants and coffee. Supermarket is a few minutes walk away and there are bars and restaurants about 5 mins walk away on the beach front. Don't make the same mistake we did and eat and drink there every night as it's very expensive. little did we know the town was 10 minutes the other way, which is busy and cheap. Head for the harbour. The pool is small and there are few sunbeds but we were lucky enough to eventually get 2 everyday but you have to be quick. All in all a fun, relaxing, basic holiday! Probably wouldn't go back but would recommend it! P.S Also make sure you don't throw your plane tickets in the bin like us!They won't let you fly without them!
Great Base!
I stayed at the Veramar in July. My Mum and I had a wonderful time. I could not falut this hotel.... Location: 3 mins walk from the supermarket 5 mins walk to the sea front 15/20 mins taxi ride from the airport Room: Spotless 3 beds Bathroom (shower, bath sink toliet) Kitchen (2 hobs, kettle, brandnew microwave, plenty of cupboard room, fridge and cutlery) Balcony Double locking door (not that there was any trouble but its nice to know for piece of mind!) Maid service on Mon, Wed and Fri (tidy the beds, sweep up and change the towells) This is not a luxury hotel, but if you are looking for a good clean base you cannot go wrong. The pool was very clean, with 4 showers, a main pool and a small paddling / childrens pool. There is not that many sunbed but they are the most comfortable things ever !!!! They provide a green (4 inch thick!) cushion - its more comfy than a bed !! My mum used to go and put the towels on the sunbeds at 8.30 am !!! The only thing I would comment as a bad thing ... there is no air con or fans in the room so can get very hot !!! As i said I stayed with my mum (21 and 48 year olds), but there were familes with young children there, young couples, older couples and groups of girls / boys. it is a very mixed hotel but there was no trouble at night or round the pool.
Hotel Veramar studio apartment
I have just returned from a week's stay in the Veramar with my girlfriend, we stayed in a studio apartment on the 8th floor which had a sea view, (some rooms are at the side of the building so when booking it might be advisable to request a room at the front of the building with a sea view). We paid approx £17 per night per head for the room (which was about right in my opinion), if you are looking for luxury then the Veramar is NOT the place for you. That said , the room was spotlessly clean and apart from a few minor complaint's i think i would stay there again. On the down side 1. the light on the balcony did not work. 2. the kitchen had no kettle OR toaster (which in my opinion is pretty poor). 3. the pool isn't huge, nor is the pool area. Other than that i found the Veramar to be a decent base , i usually go away with a crowd of my mates on holiday so if you are planning a lads or girls holiday on a budget then this is the place for you (although it would be wrong to give the impression that this is a young singles only hotel/apartments) because there was a good mix of single's couple's & family's staying there when i was there. On the plus side 1. The Veramar is kept very clean with housekeeping in you're room & fresh towels every 2-3 days. 2. It is ideally located, 3-4 mins to the beach. 3. it has an excellent large supermarket 100-150 yards away(turn left out the front door then right) in the direction of the beach ( dont go into the first small supermarket you come to, walk on by for a further a further 30 seconds until you come to a roundabout , there you will find a better & cheaper supermarket). 4. it has friendly helpfull staff. 5. it's cheap. On the whole i would say the Veramar is a more than ok place to stay if you are not to nit-picky. GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY / CHEAP & CHEERFULL. BTW. You have to try the Tipi Tapi Restaraunt right beside the hotel, it has an excellent wide ranging menu at reasonable prices & their breakfast croissant's are to die for. When you walk out the front door of the hotel turn left then left again at the corner, you will find it about 20-30 yards up the street on the opposite side of the road. Enjoy !
spot on
had really good time at this hotel, location perfect rooms very good size with decent balcony very nice poolside area (although lot of selfish people getting down at silly o clock just to reserve best seats, but not really hotels fault),fell bar was a bit of let down but all in all definatly go back
Very good value and close to beach
i have just returned from staying 2 weeks at the Veramar although this hotel is very basic it gave excellent value with the beach and bars a few minutes away, even the centre of fuengirola was within easy walking distance and this provided a good choice of bars to suit all tastes one drawback was trying to get a sunbed due to the poor attitude of the other guests who got up at 8am as the pool opened and put their towels down on sunbeds but did not return until lunch time, but beside this I have little else bad to say I would go back again due to the location. BIG MATEY
Budget hotel situated in a good location
I have just returned from the Veramar Hotel after a weeks holiday in Fuengirola. I found this particular hotel after staying in an apartment building next door 4 times previously, therefore was happy with it's location. IE. At the quieter end of the town away from the bustle of the bulk of tourist hotels, only a 5 minute walk to the beach, and a supermarket, local bars and resturants all close to hand. I booked the hotel online through [--] and found the price very good for the time of year. For the hotels low price though you obviously loose in quality and although the hotels own website makes no false claims, I did find problems during my stay. IE. The patio door leading to the balcony did not lock. some of the light bulbs needed replacing, there was no toaster in the kitchen, a basic item for a kitchen I would assume, especially as there was a microwave (Not all rooms come with a kitchen, this was a studio that I had requested) and the sink in the bathroom was loose at the wall. On the whole the room could have done with a bit of a makeover, but nothing too concerning and in general the hotel facilities were on the basic side although there is an on site bar and resturant. The hotels pool is fine, but be warned, there are very few sunbeds to speak of. This may be due to the fact though that there is not a great deal of space around it. On the other hand and to be fair I found the staff to be welcoming and relitively friendly. Prior to arrival I had called the hotel directly to confirm my booking had been made, during the call I requested a room on a higher floor, two reasons for this - unless you like the sound of moped's screeching by untill the early hours it's best to avoid the lower floors and also I wanted a view. On arrival we were given a room on the top (9th) floor facing towards the beach... so no complaints there. One bonus during the stay there is a Spanish holiday 24th June and the night before the locals descend onto the beach for a festival (This will go on throughout the night) but there was the bonus of a free firework display from our room (See photo). As a summary I would say if you want cheap and cheerful this hotel is fine but if your looking for something with a bit of class I'd keep looking. This hotel at the end of the day is what you should be expecting for a European '3' star rating.
