Just b4 we went on our holiday,I...
8 / 10
May 2008, Mr B T

Just b4 we went on our holiday,I spotted the view from Mr McLeod who gave the Veramar 2/10, and obviously that concerned me, no need.
Mr McLeod may well have had a sh1te holiday but I've no idea why he blamed the Veramar. We were allocated room 315 and It was fine, certainly no sign of dodgy wiring that he reported.
Brekkie in the morning was 5 euros and was apparently brilliant value, I have cancer so thats the reason I didnt eat there, but my missus and parents did and they thought it was excellent value.
It's true there arent enough sunbeds to go round and u have to get down earlyish and put your towels out, but then I've seen that carry-on in 5* hotels.
It is only a 300metre or so walk to the beach and probably a further 400 to the resort centre, and thats where most of the good restaurants and bars are.
Gali Gali a bar from 1970 is worth a visit on the beach, and I would highly reccomend the Yorkshire Rose for a nighttime meal.
All in all I had a good 10 day break at the Veramar. The one thing I will say however is that Fuengirola as a holiday resort is now rather dated, but then again so is Spain.
I had'nt been to Spain in a few years, and I remember now why I stopped going, it's lost it's sparkle,it's as simple as that.
That my friends is what I think Mr McLeod was trying to say, only he made an @rse of it and blamed the Veramar, which is totally unfair

arrived at the place called veramar...

Apr 2008, Mr M Mcleod

arrived at the place called veramar apartments 1 on a rainy day so had no choice but to sit in. got room 814. when we got in the room it was very very dated and of poor standard. pool was very dirty and the staff did not speak a lot of english. in 812 nextdoor we had a couple from norway who where taking drugs and drinking till 3 in the morning. Because they where not on this planet they started to shout we asked to be moved but the couple must have woke every person up in the place as they went round every door kicking it and the staff done nothing about this. In 814 i would go as far to say that it was dangerous as there was sockets missing or hanging off the wall and well for the amount of money paid thats the last thing you want to see. Anyway we got moved to 802 we stayed in that room 1 night before the mircowave blew up in which the staff would not believe us and blamed us for doing it until they went up and seen it. so we got moved again in to 803 which had they lights hanging off the wall. the beds in all the rooms are of very bad old quality and the standard of the rooms are what i would say not fit for a dog. it was like being put in bagdad, the place was not fit for anyone the beach was tops and the zoo i cant say enough good things about but the place in general was a dive. would not recommend to anyone especially people with kids very dangerous place. never again shall i go to a dive like that. i looks great on the internet till you see it in real life. all this in a week we could not wait to get home away from that place.

Feb 2008, Mr B Hall

The room was clean with a Tv, kitchen (micromave, hobs, etc), bathroom and 2 beds.
The service was good and the staff was polite, the maids came every 2 days with clean towels and mopped the floors and the beds was changed every 3 days when we was there for 2 weeks, the location is near the beach and the town centre.
Overall 9/10 not one of my best holidays but its in the top 5!! out of the 17 holidays ive had

I went on an all girls holiday in...
9 / 10
Jan 2008, Miss C Lancaster

I went on an all girls holiday in June/July '07 and the Veramar Apartments was a fantastic hotel, which we used as a base to sleep and get ready to go out.
The rooms were basic, but clean and the beds were comfortable enough. The only problem we had was that 4 of us were put in a smaller room to our friends who only had 3 in a room!
The pool and area surrounding it was clean and the pool was not too cold. The only problem was the occasional waft of bad smells from the road and flies from the bins.
It was only 10 minutes walk to the clubs and even less to the beach, which was handy when sleeping, as you couldn't hear any of the nightlife noises.
We are honestly considering visiting Veramar again this summer, as we had such a fantastic holiday, the staff were great and polite and helped us with any problems we had.

The apartments are very basic and in...
2 / 10
Nov 2007, Miss LM Hickey

The apartments are very basic and in need of refurbishment, sockets were missing, ceiling light wire was hanging through the ceiling.
Landed on the Friday evening maids only came on the Tuesday, changed beds on Wednesday and didn’t see them again. Even though we had booked for three people there were only two dining chairs and two patio chairs.
In self catering apts. that we have stayed in before you have had a seating alternative, here it was the bed or sat at the table.
Pool area was okay but in high season it wouldn't be as there wasn't enough beds or space. The pool was dirty but this could have been due to the time of year.
In summer we paid not much more than we did for this holiday and went to Bulgaria and we stayed in fantastic accommodation, so the price that we paid for this holiday definitely did not match the high standard that we got in summer, but we booked that holiday through first choice.
If you book these apartments don’t expect too much as you will be disappointed.

I really think it depends which room...
5 / 10
Oct 2007,  C Howard

I really think it depends which room you get in this place. We was on the top floor (808) and it was the smallest room I’ve ever been in and I’ve been in a lot of small rooms!
It looked like something out of an 80's movie with it’s old fashioned run down atmosphere.
The view was dreadful over looking the "pool" which is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen! The surrounding area is very run down and needs a lick of paint on pretty much every building, however, when you reach the town things turned nice! Cool shops and some nice bars. People coming to your table smelling of goats and begging for money got a little old after a bit though. The train system here is great too. We spent most of our time in Benalmadina because it’s a 15 min train ride and costs about 70p each! The reception staff was always very helpful in pointing us to the bus routes and things like that – 10/10 for them!

I definitely wouldn’t return to this place or the resort in fact but am returning to Benalmadina in a few months.

Have just got back from Fuengirola...
10 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss Vanessa Ponder

Have just got back from Fuengirola had an excellent time. The Veramar apartments were very good value for money, clean comfortable and complete with everything you need. They're situated in an ideal location for everything you need a big supermarket just seconds away, the beach is just a stones throw from the apartments and along the beach front you have every restaurant you would possibly want to try. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Me, my partner and 1 year old son...
9 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss S Parnell

Me, my partner and 1 year old son stayed at the Veramar apartments for 10 days and had no problems. The rooms were basic but clean, they had 2 electric hobs, fridge, microwave loads of pots and pans plus cutlery. The bathroom was clean with constant hot water and the beds were ok.
The maid service was very good, every two days they brought you clean towels and mopped your floors. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful which really helps when you are in an area you have never visited before. Never ate in there so could not tell what the food was like. The pool was just a nice size a few sunbeds but not loads.
The beach is close by about five min walk, a big shopping centre not far from apartments about 10 mins away which has a KFC. There is a McDonalds and a Burger King not that far either. Also on the front there is a little English bar called little England I recommend there, does a great English breakfast plus more on the menu. Also there is a water park 10 min walk away also a zoo 10 mins away which I recommend both good days out.
All in all would recommend the hotel as I would the resort loads to do no need to get taxis really unless ya going further a field.

We cannot praise this Thomson Family...
10 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr Sha M

We cannot praise this Thomson Family Holiday enough, from when you get off the coach you get a warm feeling of welcome from the hotel staff and when the porter takes you to your room, and hear the kids being entertained by the best entertainers we have ever come across, you know you have arrived at great hotel.
The staff are all friendly and the manager always has a smile and a hand shake for you no matter what time of day it is.
The harbour area is a little expensive when eating out but it’s worth it for the view when feeding the family, if you want a great big evening meal that you won’t be able to finish, go to the London Inn the food is English but the prices are lower than the harbour and you get more for your Euro.
Nightclubs are fantastic best of the best; Fuengirola is an hour away from Marbella, one of the most popular places in Spain. GOOD LUCK!

Aug 2007, Mr S Miah

Apartments were very nice and clean, ideal for young group or girls or lads to go, nightlife is fantastic.
Food and drinks are much better than the UK. Veramar apartments were 3 star and very lovely to stay in, would recommend anyone to stay there with beautiful views and shops nearby. A+++++++++++ all the way.
Xl holidays were great in aiding with anything that we needed.

Jul 2007, Miss RJP Pomfrett

Wow I really enjoyed my stay at the Veramar, it was really good.
It was my second time going and it was really good. The first time was all right but the second time was brill. I came back on Tuesday night 10th July 2007 and I really didn't want to come back I enjoyed it that much.
The reception people are very welcoming. All of the cleaners are very happy friendly people even though it is hard to talk to them because there Spanish.
The swimming pool is really good you can make friends really quick round there. From about 9am - 5pm there sun is shining on the pool there is a little pool and a big pool. There is also toilets based round the pool in a separate like building.
There beach is like a 5 min walk to the front and the town centre is not so far. There is a big shopping complex call the Merimar and there are loads of shops in there free parking as well.
The Fuengarola zoo is near to the Veramar about 10 min walk. There is also a market that is on every Tuesday which is Fuengarola market which was really good and where you can find cheap things to buy.
I hope to go again next year as i really enjoyed my stay there hope to see it all again and stay in the Veramar again .

My girlfriend and I visited the...
8 / 10
Jun 2007, Mr M Sully

My girlfriend and I visited the Veramar in June 07. The room was quite spacious and very clean with maid service every two days.
The hotel was very well situated, a 5 minute walk to the sea front and main shops/ bars/ restaurants. The apartment block was surrounded by private blocks, not other tourist hotels so there was no noise, loud music etc at night.
There was a large supermarket 100m away that sold everything you would need.
The only downside would be the size of the pool and pool area; we went in off-peak season when the hotel was under occupied so this wasn't a big issue however I would imagine in July and August the pool side could become very crowded with not enough sunloungers to go around.
Overall this was a very good hotel/ apartment, very well situated in a really nice, clean resort.
