Absolutely Horrible
from Erv_Chang
I booked this trip through Expedia and this was without a doubt the worst hotel I have every stayed in. Even though the lobby area is nice and air-conditioned when you walk in, the rooms are run down (similar to what you would expect to see in a cheap american motel) and the furniture was dated and/or plastic (as in plastic patio furniture). I stayed on the first floor and found that my room (101) did not get cool enough even though I had the air-conditioning on and set to the lowest setting the entire time I was there. At night I got up and found that the temperature in my room was 30 degrees with the air conditioner on. The problem is that the air coniditioner's output vent is right next to air intake vent for the building so as soon as the air comes out it gets sucked out of the room. A major complaint for me was the noise. There were tons of partying kids at night (and I mean 3am in the morning) and this meant I never got a good night's rest. I complained to the front desk and they kickeds the kids outside but that only made the problem worse. Noise picks up very easily there. There is no carpet in the halls of the rooms so noise travels very well - plus the walls are paper thin, so be prepared to hear your neighours. As for cleanliness - they never change the sheets. My sheets had stains on them and so did my towels. The cleaning staff come around every other day and "clean" your room - they come around every day to make your bed though. The floors are very dirty - they never once mopped or swept them. They only provide toilet paper when you ask and they will only provide you with soap and shampoo at the start of your trip - they do not refill them. Again I would equate this to a dirty american motel that you see in the movies. There was a wide variety of food however it was not very good tasting. The fruits and vegetables were obviously passed their prime and a lot of grease was used to cook the rest. Moreover the dining options (I went half board) includes the food but it does not include the drinks. The drinks cost extra and they are very pricey. It cost me $3 euros to buy a coke with my dinner and it was one of the mini-cokes (175ml) that they serve on airline planes. By the way, they do not tell you the cost of the drinks when you first order - they just show up with a bill at the end of your meal. Oh yeah and they do not permit outside drinks to be brought in. It costs me and my partner about an additional 8 euros each meal in drinks (and we ordered water most of the time). Needless to say I was not impressed. The hotel is near the airport (5km away) however your only option to get there is by taxi since it needs to cross the freeway. The ride will cost about 15 euros and take about 5 minutes. The worst part of this experience was the staff. If the staff was more responsive or friendly then it would have probably rated as a 2 in my books. The cleaning staff were very rude (they walked into my room without knocking while I was stepping out of my shower in the middle of the night - apparently they needed to get access to the roof and my room was the access point. I ran down to the desk and yelled at the front desk staff who called down the staff member and yelled at her but never apologized for what happened. Moreover the front desk staff were never accommodating or friendly. The knew nothing about the local attractions other than the beach and always had this angry look on their face. On the positive, the beaches were nice and they had a nice 10km sceanic walkway that went all the way to Palma (the capital city). It was a nice bike ride to Palma. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the beach. By the way, the tours and and trips advertised in the hotel's guest services are over-priced. You can get better prices if you just go there and pay that way. In the end I would not rate this as a resort in anyway (like it was described in the Expedia holiday package). The pool was small (just go to the beach) and the nightly entertainment was very dull - about 6 people show up each night to see it. There was no effort put into the entertainment though. I would say that the quality of room for this hotel is like an average European hostel. Not worth the price for what is advertised. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would recommend you pay the extra to stay at a nicer hotel - one that quieter.
not enough polite in the Reception, old furniture in the rooms
from marci11
We stayed 10 nights in this hotel and I found very impolite persons in the reception, very bored and sometimes they did not even answer to your " hello" . The furniture wa very old in our room and the clean service not very accurate. The food was good enough but the same stuff every 4 days. I will not choose again this hotel in Mallorca.
unexpected pleasure

arrived back from the hotel linda yesterday,15/6/07.must say it was one of the nicest places i've stayed at.booked 4nites half board and for the price we paid(2 adults) it was certainly value for money.the food, service and general hotel facilities were excellent.food plentyful, varied and well presented.service in dining area very good, poltie and helpful staff.this is not a english only hotel but a mix of english, german, portugese and spanish which i found nice as part of reason i go away is to mix with other nationalities not just the brits.also the resort itself can pastilla is suited more for peolpe who just want a quiet relaxing hol,no real discos or music blaring from bars, lovely long beach joining can pastilla, playa de parma and arenal together, all enjoyed but sunlovers and windsurfers alike.hire a bike and visit all towns stopping at each to swim or just relax in the hundreds of beachside restaurants and bars the airport is nomore than 5min taxi ride away.planes takeoff regulary during the daytime but quite honestly you dont no they're there. there is 1 drawback it seems to be a place for the spanish school kids to visit.they are with teachers but the older ones,(14-16 yr olds) can be a little rowdy, the younger ones are no problem. all in all a lovely resort and hotel to visit
Best value for money around
from Phunky_Phish
We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights at the end of May and we couldn't fault it. Going full board we had breakfast, lunch and dinner that was of the highest standard. Plenty of choice everyday. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. There were two different sets of kids and teenagers that stayed over the 11 days, but they were no problem to the other guests. Entertainment every night by outside acts and the excellent hotel staff. Rooms have air con and very clean bathrooms and beds. Two minutes to the beach and the buses in all directions are right outside. For the money we paid we certainly caught a bargin.
dreadful place

The hotel was like a campus for youngsters, noise all night long, some staff not helpful would not recommend stopping here.
Don't go in June
from theyhaveallbeenused
For all of June every year the hotel is fun of spanish teenagers on school trips aged between 14 and 19. The manager said this is normal as the spanish schools where finishing. My husand and I where 2 of around 12 adults, with over 350 teenagers. So if you want a peaceful sleep or a swim, or even to get through the front door then do not go in June, what a nightmare. My rating is for June only. I think it would be okay any different month.
Tasty grub and a comfy bed !

I stayed at the Hotel Linda in Ca'n Pastilla just thirty minutes away from Palma for a fortnight in November, 2005. Unfortunately (or fortunately whichever way you like to look at it !) my wife was unable to come with me, but although therefore being a single traveller (of 62 years of age) I was fortunate enough to find that I had been allocated a double room on the second floor to myself which was comfortably furnished, and which overlooked the hotel swimming pool. A television was provided, and for a fee of 22 Euros per week I was able to avail myself of the safe deposit box provided in my room. The hotel dining room was extremely clean and bright, and it really was a pleasure to eat one's meal here. Breakfast was served from 8 to 10am, Lunch from 1.15 to 3pm, and Dinner was served from 7.15 to 9.30pm which really covered most peoples' needs. The only rules regarding the dining room were that firstly gentlemen were requested to wear trousers for evening dinner, and secondly whilst you were allowed to eat all that you could, they did ask that you did not take food away from the dining room, which really is fair enough. The food was very well prepared and presented with both varied German and English selections being provided. More importantly the selections provided were changed at every meal time, and so one never tired of eating the same old things. The food was very tasty indeed, and quite frankly the fried eggs at breakfast were better than many a fried egg I have eaten in England, and the bacon was out of this world. Evening meals were just as good - my particular favourite being the chicken portions which were delicious. The hotel lounge was comfortable with plenty of seating provided, and the hotel bar always seemed to be open - so top marks here ! Outside there was a swimming pool and a tennis court together with a crazy golf course which was always clean and tidy, and which was well cared for. Daytime entertainment was provided for the kids, not that I observed any staying whilst I was there, and during the evenings adult entertainment was laid on which included Bingo, Talent Shows, Dancing etc. all of which was very popular with the guests, although to be truthful I did not join in as I preferred to enjoy a quiet drink in the evenings. The only let down was the room service, which unfortunately one day left folded clean sheets on the bed in my room but failed to make my bed, and the bathroom was not kept as clean and fresh as one could had hoped for, more so bearing in mind that this is a hot country. OK - I know that these are minor matters (and yes, I did make my own bed without complaining) but these are the sort of things that can, and on occasions do take the icing off the cake, but yes I do understand that the odd slip up can occur, and so I will not dwell on this. The hotel is very centrally located for the town centre and the shops, and lies about a quarter of a mile away from the sea front. Bus stops to Palma, El Arena, Valldemosa, Manacor, Porto Cristo and the Caves of Drach are situated just outside the hotel, and although the Arenal and Palma buses are very frequent (but grossly overloaded and extremely uncomfortable), I would suggest that you check the times of the others as they are very sparse, but I did use them for day trips and they are fine as long as you have the timetable details to hand. There is a taxi rank just a five minute walk away in the town centre. A taxi from the Airport to the hotel ( a five minute journey) cost me 12 Euros, but going home taking a taxi from Ca'n Pastilla town centre taxi rank to Palma Airport cost 10 Euros.....you work that one out !! Should you need car parking space the hotel has it's own private car park adjacent to the main entrance, which I would have considered had enough parking spaces for around thirty cars. Although the hotel is very close to Palma Airport, aircraft noise wasn't really noticeable at all, as the aircraft seemed to take off on a flight path a mile or so to the west of Ca'n Pastilla, and so did not fly directly overhead. All in all, although not a new hotel, it has been very pleasurable to have stayed there, and although we all have differing needs and requirements I came away very satisfied, and I do feel whether you are young or old, with or without kids, you will enjoy your stay at the Hotel Linda. I would conclude by saying that should I have the opportunity to stay there again, the answer most certainly would be 'Yes please.'
Hotel Linda - Can Pastilla
from UkShoegal
Just got back from the Hotel Linda. Stayed 3 nights on a half board basis. I used to come to this resort when I was younger and have stayed in many hotels in this area. The Linda is an average 3 star hotel with friendly staff and is only a 5min walk to the beach. The restaurant is fairly small and could get quite crowded in peak season. The meals in the hotel are fine, with good choices at breakfast and dinner. All buffet service. The resort mostly caters now for Spanish and German holiday makers but the promenade along the beach now is lovely and well worth a sunset walk at night. If you're looking for a slightly higher standard of hotel and one that's directly on the beach, I would recommend the Hotel El Cid and the Alexandra (used to be Sol hotel), but the Linda was just as good.
Adequate
from freezingkiwis
Spent 3 nights during August - hotel was adequate in every way, but nothing special. Hotel has barely had an upgrade since the 80s, and it shows. Staff were mostly friendly, although potentially a little peeved when I managed to lose the Security Safe key (somewhere in the Mediterranean). Location was less than 10 minutes from the beach and a myriad of restaurants and supermarkets. Not the best view from the balcony, but pleasant enough. Room was very hot - no aircon, and the fan struggled. Sleeping was quite uncomfortable. Even without breakfast included in the price, I was unable to find anyone to take my money - so we ate it anyway - nice bonus. For the price I paid (£40ish) it did the job - but I'd be looking to spend a little more and have a more pleasant (beachfront?) experience next time.
Good standard at a brilliant price
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at Hotel Linda May 2004. Got a very good deal and was surprised at the standard of the hotel, ok it's not the ritz but was definitely above average, everything you wanted, pool, walking distance to resort of C'an Pastilla and very close to get into Palma. Good standard/choice of breakfast. The only thing to note is that it is quite close to the flight path (you can see the planes taking off from the airport) so there was a little bit of aircraft noise, not unbearable though. Would recommend both hotel and resort (particularly for families).

I stayed at Hotel Linda with my friend as 2 19 year old girls. It is very near to the airport but I don't regret paying for a transfer as we were likely to get ripped off by a taxi. Our room was basic but clean only thing that it should of had was a fridge! The Pool was... more
