" Nice Hotel Friendly But Quiet "

I stayed at Hotel Linda with my friend as 2 19 year old girls. It is very near to the airport but I don't regret paying for a transfer as we were likely to get ripped off by a taxi.
Our room was basic but clean only thing that it should of had was a fridge! The Pool was quite small and had a couple of issues whilst we were there as rubbish was appearing in it mysteriously, bit disgusting but the pool man was quick to fix it.
The main thing the hotel lacked was entertainment there was a stage with flasing lights, a big lounge but not one person in there on any of the 7 nights we stayed. Is was disappointing seeing as there was not many bars or clubs open at that time of year and we were back in our rooms by 11pm most nights. There is a Hotel Linda Salsa/Disco downstairs at the back of the hotel which we looked in one night to find it was empty.
Most of the staff are nice and helpful and excursions are very easy and safe to book at reception. We went to Palma Aquarium which looks bigger on the map than it actually is but was interesting and Aqualand S'Arenal which is good fun and both are not far at all.
The beach is only a 5 minute walk and from behind the hotel you can catch a bus or the little train which is EUR4.00 per person to Palma and back but you can get on and off throughout the whole day on the train.
There is many restaurants along the seafront but places like KFC were nearly double the price compared to England.Parts of the beach are a bit nasty with mounds of seaweed and rubbish. Also many people said breakfast was delicious I wouldn't go that far but there is quite a lot to choose from.
In all it was a relaxing holiday lying by the pool, would be a lot better more in season.

Advice: Yes

Activities: Rodes Bar for Paella and Aqualand

Good for: Beach

" Hotel linda "

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful ( nothing too much bother for them). One evening daughter left her camera at the pool area and staff phoned our room to ask if we had left it and to say that they had it safe for us. Hotel very clean. Room cleaned and clean towels provided every day . Large choice (and quantity) of food at all meals to suit most tastes including vegetarian.Pool area slightly small for size of hotel but kept very clean. We were there last week of season , in fact we were last guests there after breakfast on our final day but that was no bother to the hotel which closed as we left at 16.00 hours! Very near airport but this was no problem noisewise. Bus to Palma, which takes about half an hour to the centre of Palma, goes past hotel and very cheap . Clean beach about 100 metres from hotel.

" This was a very pleasant basic hotel,... "

This was a very pleasant basic hotel, very good value for money. We arrived at the end of August and stayed 9 days. Despite our concerns about its proximity to the airport there was no need to worry - there was very little aircraft noise and we were almost completely unaware of planes. We had a room overlooking the pool, which was clean, air-conditioned, and pleasant. In fact, this was an exceptionally clean hotel all round, with good facilities - and a large and varied self-service breakfast. The only slightly down side was a rather poky bathroom with an erratic shower, but it seems churlish to complain when everything else was so good.

The immediate area is a little bit shabby but its only a couple of minutes to the sea and a great range of shops and restaurants. We tried all the Spanish dishes we could, but one day I felt as if I had had enough of rich paellas etc. Much to my amusement I discovered 2 small British restaurants side by side in the little harbour - 'Mel's bar' and 'Buckingham Palace'. At Buckingham Palace I ate the best eggs and homemade chips with HP sauce, ever, and all for about 5 Euros!

In the evenings there is entertainment in the hotel. Its a bit cheesy, but very child-friendly in the earlier part of the evening. All the staff were very obliging and efficient. I thoroughly recommend this hotel to anybody onb a budget - you won't be disappointed.

" We booked this hotel instead of a... "

We booked this hotel instead of a caravan in Devon-it worked out the same price!.Absolute no brainer-great value for money in a lovely location.
We were initially a bit concerned that it was literally at the ned of the runway to Palma airport-no problems with airplane noise at all.
Our room was cleaned daily and towels were changed everyday without question-the first time we have ever had that!.All areas of the hotel were impeccably clean and relatively mozzie free-the air conditioning in the rooms was the best i've come across as well.
The staff were polite and helpfull at all times-Pepa the hotels entertainment organiser was fantastic especially as she has to deal with holidaymakers from all over the globe!
The food is some of the best we have ever found in any hotel.
If you are looking for a loud boozy holiday Ca'n Pastilla is NOT for you as it is very Spanish-however for only 1.1 euros you can go down the seafront to Playa De Palma/El Arenal, you'll find it absolutely rammed with Germans but if you go with a little less predjudice you can have a fantastic night out for very little cost-happy hour seems to last all night!
All things being equal, for a great holiday for a sensible price Hotel Linda gets 20 stars!!!

" An excellent hotel at remarkably low... "

An excellent hotel at remarkably low prices. For under £13 a night each we had a good-sized clean room with large balcony, overlooking the sun terrace on a half board basis.

The hotel had a good standard of entertainment compared to many, with Flamenco dancers one night and a very good singer/musician another.

The seating areas were comfortable, while the dining room was clean and bright. There was a an excellent range of food for both breakfast and evening meal, very well presented, though the choice of brussels sprouts for breakfast one morning seemed rather bizarre!

The reception staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

Lack of a hair dryer in the room was unusual, but we managed to borrow one from reception for a small deposit. On our last morning they rang us to ask for it back as someone else needed it, so it may be safer to bring your own. The air conditioning in our room wasn't working -this may be because it was out of season. We didn't need it as it wasn't hot weather so we didn't ask about it - hopefully it would work in the summer!

The hotel had a car park. It was a five minute walk to the beach which is wide and sandy. The area itself is a little run down, and in late October very quiet with many shops and bars already having closed down for the winter.

The other down side was the weather - we had plenty of rain, though we did manage a few hours sunbathing by the pool on every day but one, when it never brightened up at all. But you can't blame the hotel for that!

" Having booked Hotel Linda on the... "

Having booked Hotel Linda on the basis of reading reviews, we weren't disappointed. We had looked at El Arena and after reading reviews booked this hotel, what a good choice as went to El Arena and good for a visit as you can go back to the quieter Can Pastilla.

Well when we arrived the hotel said we didn't have a room due to two days of heavy rain had caused the bottom floor rooms to be moved to high ground, and that we will have to spend first night it sister hotel "Leo". They paid for taxi to and from Leo and when we returned they upgraded us to Full Board, only used it once for lunch but good offer. One for not causing a fuss or complain for the sake of it, off we went went to Leo, why worry still in same resort and Hotel Linda has sorted it out for us. God we are on holiday... enjoy it.

Leo was a nice hotel, but bigger than Linda, but would book Linda before Leo, only as Linda more relaxed atmosphere. When we returned to Linda, we was given a sea/pool view, couldn't really see the sea but new it was there.

Hotel only 5 minutes walk to nearest beach and what a nice beach, miles of it. The restaurant and bars are all good, especially the local tapas, and burger bars (try them). The resort is ideally located for taxi to airport, buses to Parma and other destinations, the promenade is so clean and goes on forever, if you want to see everything you can hire bikes, that's the manual ones.

It was great to walk every night looking in shops and stopping for drinks, ideal for older families and couples with very young children.

Lets talk more about the hotel, room basic but like every hotel room in the Med - beds, mirror, wardrobe, and bathroom (shower was great). Reception very friendly and helpful, bar staff good, entertainment funny even though didn't have a clue as it was spanish - spanish karaoke. Well when in Rome - err Spain.

The best bit was the restaurant, very very clean, waiters and chefs very friendly and friendly, food very cleanly presented, not sure what some of the dishes were but all tasted great - the chefs nightly grill special was good.

Breakfast a bit strange but normal egg/bacon and beans - you could of had Green beans, broccoli and peppers with it. My granddad also said eat greens as very good for the skin, should see my tan.

Enjoyed every bit of Hotel Linda and Can Pastilla, will book again, maybe not very soon though wife pregnant, must of been the holiday. However I wouldn't think twice to book Hotel Linda and Can Pastilla once new baby arrives as great place to holiday with baby, very flat for pram.
Hotel Linda try it.

" Hotel Linda is situated roughly 15... "

Hotel Linda is situated roughly 15 minutes away from the airport, but having said that you will not hear the planes in the night, you might be woken up by the kids in the school opposite if you are situated on the wrong side!

The resort was very quiet when we went there but being as its only 25 mins into the central of Palma, you can still have lots to do, loads of markets to visit etc.

The hotel we found clean and the staff pleasant but the food wasn't what we hoped for.

There are many English bars in the area including a street called Caller Virgilio, and I think between us we counted 18 bars not all of which were open, but that was where we had the most fun.

We had breakfast at Marys Den; the lady running it has the most infectious laugh! But the food lovely!

In the evening we ventured over the road to Inn Cahoots Irish Bar, where nobody’s Irish but the atmosphere was brilliant, and on Saturday afternoon my hubbie got to play on the gee gees at Claire’s with two guys, Jim and Shrek, all in all a very quiet resort but lovely people.

If you a looking for a break and to meet new people, I would strongly recommend this resort.

" Arrived for a weeks holiday for a... "

Arrived for a weeks holiday for a nice break. Unfortunately it was the wrong time. We had 3 sets of college children arrived at the hotel. NO discipline, NO manners, played LOUD music in their rooms and when the hotel reception was advised to get their teachers to sort it out, nothing was really done.

All we got was phone calls from the room of the noisy kids. Food was very good, entertainment was fair but shows cancelled to play loud music for the children. The entertainer should have played music between 3pm and 6 pm for the children as they had nothing to do but shout, run around and play their own music loudly in their rooms.

Would NOT recommend this hotel as the staff did not care for adult guests (even Spanish and German). Glad to leave after a week's stay. Most of the elder guests we spoke to were disgusted at the hotels attitude.

" I stayed at the Hotel Linda for a... "

I stayed at the Hotel Linda for a fortnight in November, 2005.

Unfortunately (or fortunately whichever way you like to look at it!) my wife was unable to come with me, but although therefore being a single traveller (of 62 years of age) I was fortunate enough to find that I had been allocated a double room on the second floor (out of five floors) to myself which was comfortably furnished, and which overlooked the hotel swimming pool. A television was provided, and for a fee of 22 Euros per week I was able to avail myself of the safe deposit box provided in my room.

The hotel dining room was extremely clean and bright, and it really was a pleasure to eat one's meals here. Breakfast was served from 8 to 10am, Lunch from 1.15 to 3pm, and Dinner was served from 7.15 to 9.30pm which really covered everybody’s needs. The only rules regarding the dining room were that firstly gentlemen were requested to wear trousers for evening dinner, and secondly whilst you were allowed to eat all that you could, they did ask that you did not take food away from the dining room, which really is fair enough.

The food was very well prepared and presented with both varied German and English selections being provided. More importantly the selections provided were changed at every meal time, and so one never tired of eating the same old things. The food was very tasty indeed, and quite frankly the fried eggs at breakfast were better than many a fried egg I have eaten in England, and the bacon was out of this world. Evening meals were just as good - my particular favourite being the chicken portions which were delicious.

The hotel lounge was comfortable with plenty of seating provided, and the hotel bar always seemed to be open - so top marks here!

Outside there was a swimming pool and a tennis court together with a crazy golf course which was always clean and tidy, and which was well cared for.
Daytime entertainment was provided for the kids, not that I observed any staying whilst I was there, and during the evenings adult entertainment was laid on which included Bingo, Talent Shows, Dancing etc. all of which was very popular with the guests, although to be truthful I did not join in as I preferred to enjoy a quiet drink in the evenings.

The only let down was the room service, which unfortunately one day left folded clean sheets on the bed in my room but failed to make my bed, and the bathroom was not kept as clean and fresh as one could had hoped for, more so bearing in mind that this is a hot country. OK - I know that these are minor matters (and yes, I did make my own bed without complaining) but these are the sort of things that can, and on occasions do take the icing off the cake, but yes I do understand that the odd slip up can occur, and so I will not dwell on this.

The hotel is very centrally located for the town centre and the shops, and lies about a quarter of a mile away from the sea front. Bus stops to Palma, Arena, Valldemosa,
Manacor, Porto Cristo and the Caves of Drach are situated just outside, and although the Arenal and Palma buses are very frequent (but grossly overloaded and extremely uncomfortable), I would suggest that you check the times of the others as they are very sparse, but I did use them for day trips and they are fine as long as you have the timetable details.

There is a taxi rank just a five minute walk away in the town centre. A taxi from the Airport to the hotel ( a five minute journey) cost me 12 Euros, but going home taking a taxi from Ca'n Pastilla town centre taxi rank to Palma Airport cost 10 Euros.....you work that one out !!
Should you need car parking space the hotel has it's own private car park adjacent to the main entrance, which I would have considered had enough parking spaces for around thirty cars.

Although the hotel is very close to Palma Airport, aircraft noise wasn't really noticeable at all, as the aircraft seemed to take off on a flight path a mile or so to the west of Ca'n Pastilla, and so did not fly directly overhead.
All in all, although not a new hotel, it has been very pleasurable to have stayed there, and although we all have differing needs and requirements I came away very satisfied, and I do feel whether you are young or old, with or without kids, you will enjoy your stay at the Hotel Linda.

I would conclude by saying that should I have the opportunity to stay there again, the answer most certainly would be 'Yes please.'
