Hotel Bellavista Mar

First visit to the area for my wife and myself 63 and 67 years old, must say we liked the area, nice promenade, etc but the hotel was a bit of a let down, we have come to expect more from our Spanish hotels.
First impression was good, nice lobby, trendy bubble lifts, nice outside pool area (inside pool closed) nice room and balcony but then it started to fall apart the room walls were hollow, the doors had no closers on them so they tended to slam shut, we couldn't get a decent shower because of an inadequate shower screen and a loose shower fitting - it broke twice we had water every where!
The restaurant was a let down, more like a works canteen, paper tablecloths, only a knife and fork on a paper place mat, no glasses when I asked for the wine list. I was told that it was either house red or house white.
The food itself was very limited in choice and basic, a chef cooked food on the spot, it was either salmon or pork every night, plenty of salads though. The desserts were disappointing, in fact it is the only time my wife has never had a dessert whilst on holiday.
Having said all that the staff were very friendly and the bar prices were ok. I never counted more than 30 people in the hotel - but that should have enabled them to have provided us with far better food than they did, I had to go into the kitchen twice to find a chef to cook my pork, the kitchens are immaculate.
We found a superb tapas bar called Gamb d'oro on the Ave Meditteraneo if more than made up for the poor grub at the hotel.
