This resort was brilliant, the people were polite and friendly and it is a really good place for all the family, including an internet cafe for kids and teens. Two swimming pools and a little one for babies and toddlers and lots of sunbeds to relax on. also a mini-market.... more

Club Marbella was perfect
from ebostic
My family stayed here for Christmas week in December 2007 as a trade-in for our time share. The hotel is built into a hill so there are several buildings and a lot of stairs but everything is very conveniently located. The staff at the front desk is fabulous – they all speak perfect English but were extremely patient with me as I tried to communicate using my intermediate Spanish. I particularly appreciated the staff’s help in calling airlines and the Malaga airport several days in a row to track down our lost luggage. Our very clean units each had two bedrooms, with ensuite full bathrooms. There was a fully supplied kitchen that had every non-perishable kitchen item we could possibly, including extra toilet paper. Highlights of our unit were plenty of windows with room darkening shutters, a balcony, a large TV with DVD player (although it is region-specific and did not play DVDs from the US), and most importantly, two space heaters that we used during the chilly nights. The weather was mild – highs about 60 F, lows in the 40s F. The showers were great but the water is extremely hot. You may want to make sure to test the water before you get in. We parked our rental cars in the free parking lot directly across the street from the hotel. The hotel has a shuttle that travels to its sister properties in the area but I would recommend having a car in order to get from place to place easily and at your leisure (taxis are very expensive). There are many restaurants and pubs within walking distance. There is a mini-market on the hotel premises and another just a short walk down the hill, however, there are three large supermarkets surprisingly close to one another at the bottom of the hill where you can get absolutely anything you need. The hotel is located right off of the highway and we found it convenient to everything we wanted to do. Our itinerary was Nerja; Granada; Fuengirola for dinner and the mall (to purchase essentials given the lost luggage); Jerez; Tangier, Morocco; and Mijas. Each night, the hotel has some sort of entertainment. We were either out or too tired most nights but did go down one evening. We were treated to a one-woman music review. She worked very hard and encouraged audience participation. It was fun. I liked this place, felt completely safe and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family. Oh, and you can make free (Spanish) calling card phone calls from each unit. We bought a 5 euro card, which gave us hours of time for international calls. We easily called back to the US several times during our stay.
Great facilities
from sarahml
Excellent customer service - excellent facilites. Only negatives - Swimming pool one depth, 2.6 metres, not suitable for young children. Evening entertainment is also exceptionally loud and can be heard from the rooms - again not ideal for young children going to bed early. cafe Marbella on site - fantastic chef, really delicious food at reasonable prices. Had a two bedroom two bathroom apartment and the facilites inside again excellent. Washing Machine was particually useful! Should go to Gibraltar for cheap duty frees.
Wonderful review from a picky person
from sil22sal
Hi, We exchanged our RCI for 2 different condos here for one week. I have to say I consider myself a fairly picky person and I was pleased with this place. We have stayed in a lot of places over the years and we all thought this was one of the better places we have stayed. The staff was super friendly and spoke very fluent English which was so helpful. Juan Perez helped us out almost every day with directions, suggestions or whatever we needed...even getting a taxi for us and telling the cab driver in Spanish we wanted to go to an authentic tapas place in Malaga. Neither of our rooms had air conditioning which I was not aware of prior to getting there. I would not have booked this place if I knew that. Now they did have wonderful big and fast fans which did enough to cool the place. I am used to a cool comfortable home which I pay dearly for each month but I was amazed I was satisfied with the doors open and the fans going most of the time. We weren't really ever home during the day. It was in the 90's each day and the nights were a little warm but we managed. So I personally would skip Morocco and spend the day at the beach or Granada or Ronda....All 3 were wonderful. Well, the beach was nothing like the crystal coast of the Florida Panhandle but fun if you can ignore the fat, old topless women it is a nice beach and 5 Euros for the whole day for an umbrella and lounge chair. Morocco made me very uncomfortable and down right scared at times when we were separated from our group because of the pressure from the rug people who would not take "NO". Ronda was beautiful. It rained all day but we stilll loved seeing the city which is easy to do in a day. The bridge was one of the highlights of our trip. If your wallet will allow it take time to eat at The Paragon. FABULOUS! and the view is incredible. It was also one of the less expensive day trips offered by the resort. We actually looked into trying to do several trips on our own and they were not doable for the rates the resort was charging. Yes, you had to make a few stops along the way and you do have to put up with some folks you would rather not have to spend the day with but all in all it is a bargain. The apartments are all very nice and I am assuming recently redone. Well equiped in my opinion. We cooked several meals, by the way the grocery store is very cheap I thought. Wine and beer especially is $3-$6 a bottle. We went to the store on the shuttle, "El Zoco". Check out the shops down the hill from the store...pottery and lots of items to take back to family and friends. There are some steps involved in getting around the resort but not so many that my 79 year old father who spends a lot of time in a wheelchair and 75 year old mother with a new hip can't maneuver. Their problem was mostly getting lost on the realativly small resort. We loved the resort food, yes it was a bit pricey. The BBQ at the other club was a lot of fun and the steaks we had were wonderful as far as the food went. We also thought the dancer were great and a nice evening of entertainment. Well worth it and it was dark when we left but the shuttle came right back to pick us up so we weren't worried about sitting around a little bit in the dark. It was a fun evening! Hey, we also loved the Chinesse place and they gave us a round of after dinner drinks as well. It is just down the hill from the resort. The best meals we cooked ourselves and like I said so much cheaper. We bought food for 3 meals for 6 people, plus leftovers, water for a week for 6 people, soft drinks for the same and several bottles of wine and a 12 pack of beer for less than 150 euros. That also includes things like salt (28 cents) toliet paper (68 cents for 12 rolls), napkins, plates, cups, butter, olive oil, flour, sugar, cheeses, crackers, and some fruit. I'm not even kidding! Another big plus for this resort was the individual washers. No TV to speak of in English (2 news channels from the UK) The washers were wonderful after a day with camels in Morocco and the clothes dried overnight inside with the fan going full blast on them also kept us cool at night. I can't say enough good things about this resort. I have stayed in some not so nice places trust me. I can't imagine someone would not be happy stayin g here. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions. Enjoy!

Loved Club Marbella
from Oceansidemom
This is a great resort in a beach town of Spain. There was six of us in our group and the two bedroom/2 bath accommodation worked out perfectly for us. It was very clean and well maintained. The resort had a restaurant/bar and provided nightly entertainment for the guests. They also had other amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, spa, game rooms and internet room. They had a free shuttle to the beach during the week and provided access to some great tours of Spain. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They all spoke perfect English. The kitchen was great with all the necessities for using it. We were able to buy breakfast foods and other items to store to help keep food expenses down. It also had a washing machine which was helpful especially after going to the beach. The location was perfect. We could walk around the corner to get to grocery stores, bars and restaurants. We did perfectly fine without the need to rent a vehicle which would have been expensive for 6 people to travel in. I would highly recommend this resort and definitely stay here again.
Nice friendly resort.

We swapped into this resort using our RCI membership. We had a 2 bed / 2 bath split level apartment. The apartment was well equipped with plenty of linen/ towels/ kitchen equipment etc. Looks like aircon has been added since the last reviewer stayed there and the celing fans were inplace so the unit was nice and cool. Only downside was discovered on our second morning when the kids miniclub disco kicked in in the room below ours.Oh well we should not have been rotting in our beds after 10am anyway :-) Although there is a small toddler pool I did not like the pool being a constant 9 foot all round. This was not a problem for our boys but some of the other kids had difficulties. Boys did appreciate having Playstations and Internet access to help pass the time in the evenings. We did not take part in the evening entertainment but the bar always looked busy, people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Also did not appreciate a visit from the onsite sales team trying to get us to buy RCI points. Apart from this the staff at the resort were very helpful and friendly. Would certainly recommend a car if you stay here so you can get around the area easlily although the resort does lay on trips. We like to please ourselves a bit more. Highlight of the trip was Gibraltar - well woth a vist and only 1 hour tops in the car. The boys also liked the waterparks in the area. Tivoli gardens were a bit of a disappointment. All in all Club Marbella was a comfy place to stay while touring the area.

club marbella in calahonda is a lovely complex.apartments are excellent.staff are very friendly.nice bar restaurant very reasonably priced.only small swimming pool and is 8ft deep all round-no good for novices. that is the best bit about it. calahonda cannot be described as a good holiday resort in any sense.it is an urbanisation for people who live and work in area. there is a small beach but long walk to and fron either over motorway or under it but when you get there not worth the bother. big hills up and down from club marbella to just about anywhere.some english bars and chinese restaurants if thats what you want.little village called la cala just a short bus ride away for some shops and resraurants and a nice beach but otherwise marbella and fuengorola are both about 15 kms away on busy motorway. we had a great time because weather lovely and complex lovely but would not go back to this area again.
Nice stay at Club Marbella in Calahonda
from filamblogger
We just got back from Costa Del Sol and stayed in this property from Sept 2-9. This timeshare aparthotel property is not to be confused with Alanda Club Marbella in nearby Elviria and another one in Marbella. Property is managed by Crown Resorts. This resort is on Monte Paraiso street in Sitio de Calahonda which is about halfway between Marbella and Malaga. We stayed in a typical 2 br 2 bath 3rd floor unit located at the far end of the property so we were not bothered at all by the noise from the nightly outdoor entertainment. Room has no airconditioning but living/bedrooms have ceiling fans. Kitchen is fully supplied with utensils plus there is a washing machine. No dryer but there is a rack to hang dry clothes in the balcony. It is only a 5 minute walk down the hill to the nearest restaurants and grocery stores which was convenient. We bought food (very reasonable prices) and cooked in the kitchen. Be sure to buy the local champagne, Cava. It only costs 3 euros a bottle and was very good. Overall, room is OK and looked cozy and TV has CNN and Skynews. Weather is warm and no aircon can be uncomfortable but what the heck. You go out and it's warm anyway, even at 6:30 in the morning. The bus stop is 10 minutes walk and you can go either to Fuengirola (1.0 euros) or Marbella (2 euros). We did not rent a car. No need to as you can around by taxi or bus. It's a lot cheaper and more interesting as you mingle with the locals. Plus we booked tours to Gilbraltar (35 euros) and Tanger, Morocco (70 euros with ferry ride and lunch.) Both are not to be missed, especially the monkeys in Gilbraltar. We were out a lot that we didn't even have time to go to the beach. The resort has a minimarket, gym, sauna, internet and playstation rooms, a restaurant and billiards room. I brought my laptop but didn't have a 220w adaptor so that was unused. Internet rate was like 1 euro for 6 minutes so we typed really fast. Staff was very courteous and helpful and all spoke English. Since this is a timeshare property and not a hotel, housekeeping is done every 3 days so bring or buy toiletries. During our stay, there were plenty of British tourists, families with kids or retired elderlies. Adult pool is indeed 9 feet deep all around. So if you can't swim you can meander over to the indoor pool where the kids were (I call kids' pools the pee pools so beware.) Re shopping, many stores are closed Sundays and from 1-4PM so the safest bets are the malls (La Canada in Marbella and the one in Fuengirola with Eroski, their Walmart equivalent.) Mijas is recommended. Just be careful with your handbags and wallets. We enjoyed the trip (despite my lost luggage) and we will not hesitate to go back to this resort.
never again
from rich777
The pool is 9ft deep, all the way round, there is no shallow end. You get used to this eventually, or drown. The night entertainment is mainly poor. The entertainment staff do a few shows themselves and these are torture mainly because they are pre-recorded in spainish with some english. This is not the staffs fault, but the managements for being cheap. Our apartment was very noisy, with tiled pavements on three sides, but the whole place seemed to echo. And as for the neighbours in the second week, well they thought they had the place to themselves, and kept us and our young children awake until 2am every morning because of the noise on the balcony. The management never enforced their noise policy no matter how many guests complained. The only good thing about the place was one of the Spainish waiters who was consistantly happy, and the food in the resort "restaraunt" was good. Reasonable prices and food around. A good beach a short car trip away - Cabapino ? Do not not get suckered into the the BBQ at Club Delta Mar - expensive - dancers good, but we were left in the dark carpark waiting for the coach to collect us after the resception shut up before the coach came. Glad to leave. Will never return and will not recommend. Have never done a reveiw before, but felt needed to let other RCI holiday makers know of our experience.
A change for the better.

Owned and managed by ourselves, all profits ploughed back into resort and not into some companies pockets! Regency Palms are 5 star listed and are in the I-I exchange scheme having been awarded high marks by the I-I board.I personally haven,t used the exchange scheme as I find every facility at the resort and around the area to be excellent with continual improvements for our benefits. The staff are polite and helpful and are always ready to help when needed. The apartments are well maintained and clean with regular updates to the equiptment and furnishings. This is due mainly to the resort being managed by us the owners.I bought into Regency Palms when it was owned by(Club Riviera) and I was one of the owners who at that time battled with their management!!? team to wrest control from them. What a difference now.
