Not Supposed to be here!?

We were supposed to be at the selen apartments for our 12 day holiday but upon arrival we were shunted into the selen 2 into a downgraded room for 2 people. We were at that time travelling in a party of 3 and 2 people. Staff unfriendly . nice area. would recommend Icmeler and selen apartments but not selen 2.

  • Advice: Go to Coco Beach bar and restaurant down by the beach front very cheap and friendly and they have their own Facebook account.

Selen 2 deceives

Me and my sister went to Icmeler in July 2011. We booked our flights and accommodation with easyjet. We booked a twin room at Selen 2 Hotel and paid for B&B. When we got there, we reported at reception, and after having our passports photographed, we were immediately taken to a completely different B&B called 'Sahil Cafe' which was round the corner. We were downgraded by 2 stars. Me and my sister didn't question this as we had got there at 2am
And were really tired. The room at sahil cafe was maintained well, but the bedding was atrocious - the sheets smelt like old tobbaco and vomit, and looked riddled with STD's and bugs. In the morning we spoke to reception staff at Selen 2 who said that the hotel was fully booked, so they had to move us to Sahil cafe. They did not apologise and didn't seem to care that we were unhappy there. We know they weren't full booked, as a couple checked in 30 minutes later and were shown up to their room. We were disgusted by the response we received and were unhappy that we paid for a 3* hotel, but got shoved in to a 1* apartment. Nothing was done and due to lack of communication, we decided to bite our tongues and try and enjoy the rest of our holiday. On the day of our departure, we were waiting in the reception of Selen 2 and overheard a group of boys having a heated conversation with the reception staff - we found out this was because, they too were being carted off to a grotty apartment, even though their booking was for Selen 2. hotel. Yet again, the staff were unresponsive, and did not care. The boys persisted and miraculously a room became available (this was after 2 hours of arguing and threatening to sue). I wish me and my sister had done the same.... The holiday was brilliant, but the thought of having to jump into that horrible bed at night dampened our mood in the evenings. Selen 2 itself looks like a great hotel to stay in - if you do book a room with them, make sure they give you a room there and don't bungle you off to another place, which you clearly could've paid peanuts for.

arrived there to stay in the apartments, but they wanted me to stay in hotel,i said no way.. the staff were horrible horrible horrible, not helpfull at all, they tried to blame the tour company - they didnt like it when i said i had rang the tour company, which didnt go down well at all, which made matters worse for me.you dont get what you pay for. i,ve been going to turkey for years and always go to icmeler, they ruined my holiday, will NEVER go to the selen again,so you have been warned, there are much better hotels than the selen 2

Visited this hotel for the first time. The owner Mehmet and his brother Tam are really lovely guys. All the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
The rooms were a bit run down but this is Mehmet's first year in the hotel so he can't do it all at once.
After saying that, we can't wait to get back next year to see them all.
Food was good and reasonably priced.

Pure Dead Great Holiday.

It was our first time in Turkey and we went 2 Selen 2 ,for me and my wife we really enjoy'd ourselves .We did'nt need 2 go out for anything 2 eat as the food there was good there although we did venture out 2 other places for entertainment but when we came bk 2 our hotel we were greated and asked if we needed anything ,now the waiters were great as they ran down 2 the wee kebab shop and brought us all back chicken wraps which every-1 enjoyed and we were amazed at the cleanliness of the hotel ,may i add we got freindly with all the ppl there ,the maids work'd all day and anything u did'nt like they came and changed for u at once.As u can see how much i (we) enjoy'd ourselves we are going back again in Sept 2010 ,if u don't like what they r doing in the hotel u can go else where but there is always something good and enjoyable there , the rooms ....well my opinion is when u go on holiday u don't really want 2 sit in ur room all day its just for sleeping in at nite then in the morning you can't wait 2 get out and enjoy the sun and the ppl ,obviously u go for a shower before u go out at nite and the shower is ok the toilets r clean and the guys that work there are great ,thats all ive got 2 say about my holiday in Selen 2 .See you all soon Guys !

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at selen 2, On arrival you are asked to pay £30 for safety box, and £52 for the pleasure of using the air con!!!
Hotel lobby is very clean, reception staff are very helpfull.
Rooms are very basic, but cleanish, i found the maid service was very poor, (not maids fault, as she was told to cut down on how many times she changes towels, sheets ect)!!!!!!! we were there for 14 nights and had one change of sheets, never had a change of pillow case!!! i was forever ringing reception for clean towels, as the maid would come in and just hang our dirty towels over balcony to dry!
I know you dont have to spend much time in yr room, but omg the little time u spend in them you want it to be right!
We found the bar staff were very pushy, expecting you to eat and drink there all day every day!
Also the entertainment at hotel was very poor! And bar staff do turn music off at midnight, but seem to have no respect for holiday makers in bed , as they were letting people blow vuvuzellas at 1am!
Also the breakfast is toast, butter, jam, ham and egg, (scrambled or boiled!!!you can order a full english for 5 lira, which is ok.
the actuall location of hotel is very central for everything, dolmus (bus) is 3-4 minutes away, which you catch to Marmaris for 2 lira. beach is 10 minutes walk away, the canal is also 5 minutes, which is great for baagging a bargain!
must say i stayed at this hotel last year 09, and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it, but this year 2010 its really gone down the nick!
i will not go there again, i know you get what you pay for, but i do expect, a frequent change of towels and sheets, oh yes and toilet roll...is that really too much to ask for

Basic Accomodation, but Great Holiday!!

Stayed in the Selen Apartments which were basic but clean. Dont expect to cook a three course meal as you get a hob plate and a kettle, but this makes you have to eat out which is a huge bonus!!! The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are provided. On the whole for the price the accomodation is value for money.
All entertainment, pool, bar etc are provided at the Selen 2 Hotel across the road. The pool is a fair size with a good slide, and a tiny separate baby pool.
I would recommend this hotel for families with older children as the pool has no shallow end and the slide can be a little frantic!!!
On the whole the staff at the hotel are excellent. The bar staff are extremely entertaining and attentive, and provide hours of fun for adults and children alike. The staff work extremely hard (for very little pay!) The turkish night with barbeque is great fun, prepare for break dancing, traditional turkish dancing and a feisty bellydancer!
The jewel in the crown of the Selen must be Chicco the barman who is full of life and is a bigger kid than any child there. He together with his friends will put a smile on any face!
Icmeler itself is a fantastic place, the food is excellent in every bar we visited and you are given a cordial friendly service in most places, the locals cannot do enough to make your holiday complete.
The beach is lovely and a sunbed costs only 2.50 lira per day. The beach is patrolled by masseurs, barmen, newspaper sellers, icecream men, nothing is too much!
We went on an all day boat trip with barbeque for £8 which was paradise!
Our favourite bar was "Dreamboys International" which served delicious food and came alive at approx 10 oclock each night with fantastic entertainment such as climbing a tree with a tray of cocktails on the head!!! The welcome that they give is exceptional, you must visit!!!!
On the whole we had a fantastic holiday and will definately return!!!!

First time we had been to Turkey and not used to booking package holidays so was very aprehensive about what to expect! We were very pleasantly suprised! Even though we arrived at 6am the friendly staff came out to greet us and took our cases to our rooms. The rooms are small but kept very clean by the wonderful maids who made us smile each day with their great creations with the towels! All the staff are very friendly and are happy to help with whatever you asked them. The pool was great and there was always a sun bed available. The food in the resteraunt was good and the breakfasts were just as you would expect, ham, cheese. eggs. bread....when in Turkey.....!!!!We had no problem being offered a room for the day when we checked out and all staff came to see us off even though they were in the middle of their Turkish night! Each evening the bar was quietly lively and the music was always off by midnight. We loved Selen 2 and Icmeler and would recommend it as good value for money!

Clean well located accommodation

Having been here 2 years ago, we wondered if it had changed any - it hadn't, even though most of the staff are different, they are still a very welcoming people and can't do enough for you. We stayed in the apartment block just across the road from the hotel block, and again, the accommodation was clean and had been redecorated at some point, and the furniture was in good condition with ample items in the cupboard for self catering.
There is a turkish night once a week, and although there is no formal entertainment as such, the staff did a great job of entertaining everyone on a regular basis with a variety of the usual party dances, to some nifty dances they have choreographed themselves, to some of the more traditional dances for the region. There is a waterslide at the hotel which keeps the kids(old and young alike....) amused and a reasonable sized pool for the size of the place. There was never a real problem with sunbeds, but if it gets really busy then it could be a problem, but again, the staff did what they could to get you a sunbed, brolly, etc, if you asked them. Music, etc goes off at midnight, so no worries about not getting a decent nights sleep, and there are some really nice restaurants neaby, although the hotel restaurant was very good in terms of choice and price.(most comprehensive kids menu in the resort). Once again the Selen 2 has lived up to expectations and we will be back there again at some point in the future and would recommend it for families who want a quiet location but still be within easy access of the main centre, beach, etc.
