Oct 2008, Mrs J Wood

Hotel was in good location, basic, and our room was clean. Extra cost of £40 for two weeks air conditioning was a bit steep but necessary as it was hot.
The staff were totally not interested in us from the word go. We were left to carry our own suitcases up two flights of stairs (not on when you're in your sixties and seventies) and eventually had to ask for our passports to be returned after 4/5 days. We did use the pool area most days as it was shady but preferred to eat out as we knew Icmeler from previous holidays. In any case, breakfast was a joke - no fruit juice or coffee unless you paid for it, and the crockery was cracked and chipped, and not very clean. Most regular guests brought their own mugs. Regular guests were the kind who liked to stay up all night drinking, which suited the young lads and the owner who joined in. The two young men who seemed to be running the place spent most of their time playing round the pool with the young female guests or sitting talking to others who ate and drank in the hotel - in fact it was debatable who was having the most fun!
For most of the first week the noise from the 'entertainment' carried on well after midnight but to be fair it came from the two nearby establishments as well, but the attitude of the staff was that guests were drinking (therefore spending money) so that was all right. However after the police had closed another restaurant for three days the whole town quietened down.
Although there were notices advising that no food or drink from outside was to be taken to the rooms, we did buy water outside as the hotel charged twice the price for a bottle.
We handed the keys back on our last day to the same disinterest as we had met with when we arrived. No help was offered or given with luggage and we made our way to the bus without as much as an acknowledgement that we were leaving.
Definitely will not use this hotel again or recommend it to anyone.

Ercanhell..The hotel is of a very poor standard. You have to chase the sun around the hotel as a part of hotel is always in shade. The rooms are below basic, kept&cleaned to minimum standard. The shower 'square' is unsafe,no slipmat, curtain holder constantly collapses,no where to put showerhead. No hairdryer provisions.Air con which costs £25pw is damp.Holes in walls.Noise levels at all hours are very high.Sky tv screen in bar doesnt work properly.
Unless you are girls(for obvious reasons!)or a family sucked into bringing staff presents!!taking staff out for meals!!(unreal how gullable people are)the manners, rudeness & treatment from staff is disgusting. We complained to owner who told us he couldnt understand or speak english. This was a lie.We were then ostracised&made to feel very uncomfortable. We made rep aware but were afraid of repercusions should an official complaint be made then so we complained about nothing more..beers appearing on bill(we then paid up front)staff intimidating when bringing beach bags in,staff eating takeaways in front of us(supposidly no food or drink allowed in)Staff would only speak&smile when a rep about. We spent the rest of our holiday out of the hotel as much as possible and found some nice&friendly places where we took our custom&were joined by many from the hotel. An awful, unfriendly hotel which should be below 1*& be avoided.A 5*costs £100 more!!..A very intimidating atmosphere if you are not 1 of the in crowd sucked in.
Although we found some nice bars/resteraunts Icmeler is very expensive&we got sick of paying through roof for food&drink.Food is very similar to home &drink is about same but cocktails or soft drinks are much more.English breakfasts advertised as £1 but the tea/coffee/soft drink costs £3 with it.!!You are just seen as a walking cashpoint. For every 1 friendly there are 3 to rip you off.We have travelled all over the world & it is very sad how Turkey has changed.Mexico is pure paradise, friendlier more luxurious & cheaper!!.I dont think we will visit Turkey again but we will definatley not be going to the hotel from hell.

This was an excellent hotel. The accommodation was clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. When we left they all turned out to wave us off which made us feel special (or maybe they were glad to see us go!!) The hotel rep was almost always on hand and very, very helpful.
We are already contemplating going back there next year.
The only slight fault we had was the turkish breakfast which was something we wouldn't have chosen but it was so easy to get a good, cheap english breakfast in the resort.
We have previously been to Marmaris and because we had heard Icemeler was quieter we thought we would be taking the dolmush to Marmaris quite often but this wasn't the case. Icemeler was much livelier than we expected and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We had a fantastic holiday curtesy of a lot of wonderful people. Thank you.

It was our first holiday abroad. We were very nervous about the hotel. When we arrived at 6-15am in the morning we were made very welcome. The staff treated us with a great deal of respect. They were very helpful and we had a great deal of fun with them. We enjoyed it that much that we are going back again. Yes to the same place and hotel. We rate it very highly.

Aug 2008, Miss D Rose

My four close friends and I visited Icmeler for the first time this year. The cost of the flights and hotel were very reasonable so to be honest we didnt expect too much.
Upon arriving at The Ercanhan, we had to Pay £25 for air conditioning per room, and also £6 for the safety deposit box which was abit of a shock! However, going up to our rooms we were pleasantly suprised. They were of a good size, very clean with a nice bathroom. I was particularly impressed with the balcony (which we didnt know we would have) which gave us beautiful views over the rooftops and the valley. Another bonus we discovered during our stay at the Ercanhan, was that there are infact two pools which meant we pretty much had a whole pool to ourselves for the entire week! The food and drink at the hotel was very nice and also cheap so we often ate in. The Turkish Night was definately the highlight of the week ; bellydancing, breakdancers with sparklers on their feet, plenty of cocktails and a great atmosphere; not to be missed!
All the staff at the hotel were friendly and willing to help. Mehmet and Emre were always smiling and couldn't do enough for us.Though it has to be said Murat likes to try charm the blondes!
Icmeler itself was brilliant. Literally a minutes walk down the road takes you into the centre, where there are plenty of resteraunts, shops, markets and supermarkets to choose from. Another plus was that it was really cheap to eat out, 10lira a head usually for your food and drinks which is equal to about £4.50! The beach, a 5 minute walk away, was beautiful and not overcrowded so we were free to relax - and go banana boating :) Annies, by the beach is definately worth a trip if you love waffles!
I give the Ercanhan 8/10, the only negatives being the basic breakfast and hidden costs of a few extras. A brilliant holiday, would definately go again :)

Aug 2008, Miss S E Harwin

I have just come off holiday with a group of 3 other girls, we have literally been back in England less than a week and already 2 of my friends are returning in 2 weeks and myself and my sister (who heard how amazing it was) have booked to go back in October.
From the moment we stepped off our coach, after a long night journey we we're greeted by the lovely Mehmet, he was warm, charming, helped us with luggage, air con and safe.
The rooms are basic but fine because we only wanted somewhere to sleep, the views in a morning are to die for.
The contininental breakfast is lovely and the chef is amazing and accommodating (his tomato flowers are phenomenal).
We had a couple of nights in with the staff and Morat is the coolest dude i've met and my little Emre is luuuuuuuuurvely we took him ringo-ing with us one day!!! (ASK HIM FOR THE CONDOM SONG!!)
Nightlife is lterally 3 minutes round the corner and I cannot wait to go again in 2 months. See you then.

Jul 2008, Mrs L Firth

Me and my Husband have just spent 3 weeks in this hotel. We have traveled to many different places and have stayed in many different appartments and hotels in Icmeler, including 5 star all inclusive hotels.
This hotel and the staff were brill!!!! Better than any other hotel we have stayed in. We were a little apprehensive before we arrived as it is only rated as a 2+ star, but we had nothing at all to worry about.
The rooms were basic but clean, the cleaner ensured fresh clean sheets and towels were always available. The 2 pools were kept very clean and the staff couldn't do enough for you, they were fab!
The breakfast is the only let down in this hotel as you get fed up of eggs, bread, cheese, tomato's and cucumber after a few days but you can buy a full english cheap enough.
The chef in the hotel makes wonderful meals, give them a try and don't let the breakfast put you off.
This hotel is only a 1 minute walk to the town center which is full of wonderful bars, resturants and shops, but is up a side steet so it is quieter at night.
The Hotel, staff and the location made this the best holiday we have ever had.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and have already booked for this October and July next year.
I have given this hotel a 9/10 rating only because of the very basic breakfast.
Thanks again for a wonderful holiday.

This fantastic hotel in icmelor is amazing. I can hand on heart say it is the best holiday i have ever been on. I went with 4 friends at the age of 18 and found it was as quiet or as loud as we wanted it to be. Everyone in the hotel includibng staff were lovely and helped out if we got stuck. You are near the beach and a great selection of bars restaurants and shops. I highly recommend everyone to participate in the turkish night in the hotel, as it was the funniest thing i have ever seen in my life. All 5 of us will definately be returnign next year!!!

Jul 2008, Mr K Harrison

just returned home from 2 weeks in the Ercan Han Hotel [should be ERCAN HELL] it only saving grace is the fact it was clean, the cleaners were the only people that were prepared to work.Memet & Murat the bar staff were lazy and surley with attitude problems unless you were 18-25 and female. They lay asleep on the sunbeds or splashed about in the pool while guests had to wait at the bar to be served untill they were ready they kept a master key to the fafety deposit boxes which you had to ask for each time you needed to use your box this always seemed to irritate them as it stopped them fratanising with the young girls and always came with a sarcastic attitude, never felt so unwelcome on holiday in our lives.Booked onB&B basis but have never had to pay for coffee as extra any where else breakfast is basic to the extreme bread cheese salami tea there is no option for cereal or juice. This was our first holiday to turkey and was a bit apprehensive and our feelings were justified .Icemelar is full of resturants bars & a neon light explosion and hasselers front every bar and resturant the are as bad and as relentless as timeshare touts nice to youre face VILE to your back dont be taken in by there o so false freindly manner if you do enjoy being surrounded by scallys chaves and the tipical HP & KETCHUP BRIT ABROAD then this is the place for you ,you cant so much as glance into a shop before the shopkeeper sitting outside is of his seat faster than a greyhound out of the trap to get you to part with your sterling constant yes please yes please heres the deal they only see us as a walking wallet ,turkey what a false patronising place never again

Jul 2006, Mrs Y. A. Robbins

Good location, near to shops, bars and beach. But tucked in a side street, so very little noise. Hotel was kept clean and tidy, very friendly staff. All spoke good English. B.B.Q night not to be missed . Fantastic all round entertainment. Felt more like staying with friends. Would certainly recommend this hotel, if you want small and friendly. Be sure to say hello to Ozzy, Memet, and Merat, and then English partner in crime Derek, for me.
Not recommended, the organised shopping trip to Marmaris, you feel constantly bullied and harassed into buying something. The Turkish shopkeepers/restaurants find it hard to accept 'No'.
Recommend the Turkish bath and the trip to Daylan for the mud bath, boat trip and turtle beach.
Be sure to go to the Cavalier Restaurant, in the day time they have free sun beds on beach. The meals are superb in the evening. A bit of a walk to reach them but well worth the effort. Its by the helicopter pad on sea front.
Try Annies for their waffles absolutely to die for. Again on the sea front but near the canal bridge.
