This hotel is vast and has a magnificent entrance and bar area. We came to stay here to travel to the Volvo Masters Golf Tournament in Valderrama as the Aparthotel was not too far from the golf course.
The hotel was clean and tidy. We stayed in an apartment with kitchen facilities. Few problems with the microwave which was above your head so cooking anything in water was a bit dangerous. We also had to go to reception to get a kettle and leave a deposit (refundable) and if you wanted a toaster or any other small appliance you had to go to reception.
Apart from these few small things out stay was very enjoyable and the complex was great with the spa (we received a few treatment each), swimming pools, bar, etc.

We stayed at the Caledonia aparthotel after much searching for accommodation in mainland Spain. We were assured by the travel agent that this was a beautiful place to stay.
The only positive comment about the hotel was that the rooms were nice, clean comfortable and well maintained, however our view of the drive way was not what you'd call ideal.
Everything else about the holiday was terrible; we were miles away from anywhere and had to get taxis or buses into Estepona or Puerto Banus, or simply to the beach or even shop. The hotel ran one shuttle bus to the beach and back which left at 10.00am and returned at 4pm, god help anyone who wanted to venture out the hotel at another time of day.
We stayed on an all inclusive basis and will never stay all inclusive again as it’s not worth the risk. The food was disgusting! One day we ordered a lasagne for our 7 year old daughter; it came out stone cold and was not even cooked.
What appealed to us about the hotel was the kids club, this was rubbish, as most of the hotel guest were Spanish, the staff in the kids club didn't even attempt to talk English to our daughter this was infuriating, and understandably she never wanted to go to it.
The staff in general were horrible, they made out like they could not speak English when it was obvious they could, they were obnoxious, arrogant and rude.
We will never go to Estepona again, let alone the horrendous Caledonia!

When we eventually found the hotel, no hotel name sign on the main coast road, we were very impressed with the entrance and foyer of the hotel.
The reception staff booked us into our room even though it was only 11.30am!
A nice room overlooking the outdoor pool and hotel grounds.
Only basic kitchen facilities for a self catering apartment. 2 ring hob with extractor fan, microwave and fridge. No kettle (we had to get one from Reception and leave a deposit of 20 Euros). No coffee machine and no toaster.
The indoor pool we could only use once because Reception gave us two vouchers to use when we booked in. If you wanted to use it more than once you had to pay extra!!
You also had to book the time you wanted to use it, and if you had kids, which we have, you could only use it between 12 - 3pm or 6 - 8pm. You also had to wear swim hats.
We didn't have any so we had to buy them from the pool reception at a cost of 3 Euros each!

The hotel itself was beautiful and the food could not fault, but it was right at the top of a long road which took about 20 mins to walk down, which then only took you to the bottom of the road and then you would have to walk another 10 mins just to get to a few shops which then you’d wish you wouldn’t of bothered.
It also stated that there was a shuttle which took you to the beach and to Puerto Banus, well! It only went at 11 o'clock in the morning and the beach was not even the one in Estepona it was just awful. Then you had to return by 4 o'clock so it definitely shouldn’t be called a shuttle service. The hotel had a so called children’s menu, a choice of one thing, which looked like rubber. Which then only was served at half past seven, so by then the kids were past wanting to eat.
The entertainment was appalling, all it was the girls who looked after the kids club, well if you could call it a kids club. That was only a room which didn’t even have air conditioning. If you hire a car then I suppose the hotel would be ok but its no where near Estepona centre it’s nearer to San Pedro.

This is an excellent hotel if you are planning just to stay at the hotel and go nowhere else during your holiday.
It is situated at the top of a hill and it is a 25 minute downhill walk to the nearest shop and even further to the nearest bar.
If you plan to eat in the hotel please note that you will be charged 25 Euro at the evening meal even if you just have some soup, the reason is that you are paying for a buffet and you can eat all you want!
The hotel is very nice with good clean rooms and an excellent spa but please note that after your first use of the spa you then have to pay to use it again during your stay.
The hotel has some lovely views from the rooms and is ideal for a nice break away from it all but if you plan to see some of the area then you will need a car or have to pay for a taxi.
