Our holiday at the Chihuahuas Hotel was great. The view from our hotel room was fantastic overlooking the sea (i think most of the rooms have a sea view). The food was very good with an excellent choice, the kids enjoyed the food too! The staff were friendly and the entertainment in the evenings was good fun. The pools are of good sizes and were very clean whilst we were there. The only downside was that the hotel is dated and looked abit shabby in some areas, but this did not affect our holiday in any way, we all had a fab time and would recommend this hotel. Would also just like to say that the resort is really good for families and couples.

The hotel in general needs to be updated. The rooms are clean, but basic and there is no air conditioning which was needed. Just a ceiling fan that was noisy and ineffective. Room just consisted of bed and dressing table - no TV or appliances. Beautiful view overlooking the pool and sea, which most rooms have bar a few. The food is of limited choice and although we were half board, we ended up eating out. Pool area is very nice, with a choice of 2 pools and 2 childrens pools. Entertainment in the evening was okay, but the bar was expensive and it was cheaper to walk into the town for drinks. Resort is small, but lovely beach (was overcrowded) and lots of bars and restaurants. Would go back to the resort, but not this hotel.

what can i say its absolutely amazing. it's actually better hotel then what the picture show u. i went during mid august 2008 and we had a brilliant time. the rooms are huge and the view is outstanding. the food was brilliant with so much choice and i would defo go back there. the beach is a 10 min walk where you can do boat excursions and the hotel also have tourist reps coming where you can book day trips to places like palma and inca market for only 15euro's per person its a bargain.....
the hotel is 1 n half hours away from Palma airport.

I feel I must review this hotel despite not actually staying in it...let me explain. Arrived at reception desk and found we had to join a queue to check-in. After a 30 minute wait we reached the desk and were told that our room was not ready. Considering they had been expecting us to arrive at mid-day, and due to a 2 hour flight delay and bedlam at Palma airport we actually arrived at 3pm, this was not really acceptable. However, we waited one hour as requested (while others checked in and were allocated rooms) and then returned to the reception.
We were told our room was on the first floor, but was actually on the ground floor, facing a public laundry and toliets. What we had actually be allocated was a single room, with three beds squahed in. Balcony view was of the bins and had only one chair and no table. We had specifically requested a high floor and sea view, so were not pleased. There was an air conditioning unit, but no control. Worst though, was the bathroom. It was filthy, covered in dust and bugs. When we looked up we discovered why. The ceiling was made of badly fitting panels, and was the only barrier between us and the open air!
Marched straight back to reception to ask for a change of room and discovered that the hotel was full and there was nothing available till much later in the week. Spoke to the general manager, to ask why others had been allocated rooms after we had arrived and we were left sitting, only then to be allocated something which was totally disgusting, and all he did was shurg and apologise. Main problem was that the neighbouring hotel was supposed to be open, but he decided to close it beacuse of a lack of bookings. Therefore everybody had to be accommodated into just the one. Meaning rooms that probably would never be used, were being used. He explained that all tour operators were advised and asked to tell their clients to make different arrangements. Thomas Cook failed to do this and as a result the hotel was full to overflowing.
The staff in the hotel were rude and their broken English was not sufficent for an international hotel. Thomas Cook in the end moved us to a different resort, and we finally began our holiday one day late! As we were travelling with an 8 year old on her first package holiday, we not only had to deal with Thomas Cook, but also a very tired and emotional little girl.
I will not only never return to this hotel, but will never use Thomas Cook again.

We stayed from 20th July for two weeks and had fantastic time. 3 star hotel with 3 star food, 5 star view and 5 star entertainment staff.
My daughter made lots of friends and we enjoyed the pools (always very clean), the area by the pool and the childrens park on site.
Big thanks to TBo, Diogo and the rest of the team for their huge enthuasism and the amazing Fantasia show.
Rooms were big, could do with being updated but always kept clean and a view that blows you away.
Check-in process slow, reception staff try to be helpful but could be better source of information.
Would go back tomorrow!
Hello to everyone we met, hope you all enjoyed your holiday as much as we did!

We first came to this hotel in 2006, then again last year and then this year. In our party there were to two senior citizens, two adults and two children (so a bit of every age group!).
I can honestly say that we have had the best holidays we have ever had. Yes the hotel is a bit dated but it is spotlessly clean. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. There are always plenty of sunbeds to go round for everyone without having to get up at 6am!.
Our children loved the kids entertainment and the kids clubs. The staff really work hard to keep the children entertained and we had to try to keep our children away so they would spend some time with us!
In our opinion the buffet restaurant was great. They have something to please everyone at breakfast and dinner so please don't let other reviews put you off.
OVERALL THIS WAS A GREAT FAMILY HOLIDAY AND WE WILL DEFINATELY BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SOL MASTINES!

Stayed last 2 weeks of July and absolutely loved it!
When we arrived we were the only people arriving at the time and were greeted with an orange juice.
Rooms are basic but clean and all the rooms in the Chihuahuas look out over the pools and the cliff to the sea. It does get hot in the room because there is only a ceiling fan. There are only 3 lifts, and they could be quite slow. We were on the 8th floor, so didn't fancy running up the stairs all the time. The hotel itself, although perhaps dated, was very clean throughout.
We stayed by the large pool most of the time - I agree with another review that the pool area would get very busy if the other hotel in the complex, the Martines, was open. As it was, there were plenty of sun loungers. The pools were all very clean and well maintained, as were the whole gardens.
The closest beach, to the left of the hotels is nice and sandy, but as soon as you go into the sea it is viciously rocky, so we recommend the beaches to the right, a longer walk round a well-maintained cliff path. These are sandy right the way into the sea. They do get busy though - sometimes it was hard to get through the people to the sea!
Food was really good. I enjoy food and thought that the range and quality of the buffet was very good. There are loads of salads and fish and meat, with variations every day. The staff in the dining room were very attentive, immediately removing empty plates.
Entertainment in the hotel was excellent. The kids would go to the kid's clubs, and we would go to the air-rifle shooting and archery that takes place most days (Richard 2nd and Liz). Also played in the daily water-polo matches. There was quite an intense rivalry between the Chihuahuas and the Sol Balmoral hotel next door, and each week there was a water polo match and shooting match between the hotels. There was a set of regulars who'd do the events, and they were a really friendly group of people.
A mention must go to the entertainment staff. T-bo is a star, with the gift of the gab in multiple languages. Michelle and Diego and all the other staff looked after us and the kids really well. The entertainment staff all did a couple of evening shows in the hotel bar during the week, Fantasia being really impressive. On each of the other evenings there was entertainment from various acts (magic, circus-stylee, singing), all of which were pretty enjoyable. The bar staff also liked to get involved, wearing loads of different hats and shouting "bingo" randomly all the time when we played bingo.
Because of the children we only tended to go for an early evening walk into the small town to look round the tourist shops, where there are also a couple of crazy golf courses and a small amusement park with gocarts. There are some bars and pubs, but I don't know how busy they got or how good they were.
In summary we had a fantastic time, and would recommend the Chihuahuas to anyone with a young family, who wants a relaxing pool-side holiday without having to worry about finding food, and with the option to join in with the fun events when the sun gets too much.

Went end July 2008 and one of the pair of hotels that share the complex was closed - with both open I suspect it would have been overcrowded for swimming in the pool (which is shared).
7/10 though I'm hard to please.
Air conditioning might have been nice.
People chavvy, on the whole.
No tea/coffee facilities in room.
Beautiful location/pool. Nice and breezy in the heat.
Very quiet town - good for kids/families.
Entertainment good/staff friendly/helpful.
Ok maybe an 8/10 or 7.5

We booked the hotel through the sol website , flights through jet 2 and a hire car instead of tranfers and saved quite a bit on the brochure price.
Parts of the hotel were dated and it needs a refurb but the rooms were fine, spacious and cleaned daily. The hotel rooms had superb views over the sea and as it is a on a cliffe edge there was a nice breeze so you didnt get too hot.
The breakfasts were good as were the evening meals although after a week you could start to get a bit tired of the choice.
The pools are the best thing about the hotel, five in total including one indoor . No problems getting loungers.
The evening entertainment was good as were the day time activities for both adults and kids. The entertainment staff were really good always with a smile and putting in 100%.
The resort itself is nearby with a resonable selection of bars and eating places but it is quite small and more family orientated.
Overall a value for money hotel with good staff, good rooms and decent food in a great loaction.

SECOND VIST TO THE HOTEL WENT IN 2005. STILL LOOKING TIRED AND COULD DO WITH A GOOD FACELIFT. VIEWS FROM THE ROOMS BREATHTAKING. WENT WITH HUSBAND BARRY (AS T BO CALLED HIM....MR WHITE) AND OUR DOWNS SYNDROME SON RICHARD AKA RICARDO AKA SLINKY. THE ENTERTAINMENT STAFF WERE BRILLIANT WITH RICHARD ALONG WITH A VAST MAJORITY OF THE GUESTS EVEN WHEN RICHARD CALLED THEM `LOOSER` !!! IF EVER YOU WANT TO SEE A MAD WAITER THEN THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. BO-BO IS HIS NAME AND HE IS A VERY ENTERTAINING MAN, STEALING THE BINGO BALLS, WEARING STUPID HATS AND `ACCIDENTLY` SPILLING A DRINK OVER ANY ONE WITH HIS CUP AND SAUCER.
THE FOOD IS FINE BUT AFTER 2 WEEKS IS DOES GET A BIT REPETITIVE BUT ALWAYS A GOOD CHOICE. GOOD SIZE ROOMS PITY THERE ISNT ANY AIR CONDITIONING BUT THE CEILING FAN WAS BETTER THAN NOTHING. WE HIRED A FRIDGE FOR THE HOLIDAY, BRILLIANT FOR KEEPING WATER COLD ...AND THE WINE....AND THE BEER.
OVERALL HAD A GREAT TIME. MADE NEW FRIENDS IN CLIFF AND CAROL FROM STOKE, LAURA AND LAUREN FROM GLASGOW, RICHARD THE AMBULANCE DRIVER AND FAMILY FROM DONCASTER AND RICHARD THE RUGBY PLAYER WITH HIS WIFE LIZ FROM IRELAND PLUS MANY MORE.
WOULD RECCOMMEND THE HOTEL TO ANYONE.

I stayed in the Chihuahuas Hotel with my daughter for 10 nights. The view from the room was breathtaking, food was amazing and staff were lovely. My daughter loved the kids club and Diogo who ran it. He was great with the kids. The entertainment at night was great family fun with Fantasia being the best by far. All the kids from the club got to participate in it. The bingo was a good laugh with T-Bo, we won it twice! :) Free bottle of Champers. There was always lots to keep you busy. Water polo in the afternoons was a great way to have fun and work all the calories off. I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially with a family. My daughter cried the whole way home and hasn't stopped talking about it since we got back. Hopefully going to book up for next year. Thanks Diogo, Michelle ,T-Bo and team for a great holiday!

the hotel was fantastic , clean, amazing views, the staff go out of their way to be friendly and have a laugh with the children. There is entertainment in the evening which is lots of fun, and the mini disco for the children is great too. This is a great family hotel, with 4 clean and safe pools, great activity program for adults too.. water polo , rifle shooting, archery foot tennis etc and staff are happy for everyone to join in and have a go. We had the most amazing week, the only reason i would say 9 not 10 is there are only 2 lifts, and on the 7th floor it was too far to walk and the lifts are very slow !! would go back again tommorrow, a great 3 star hotel.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday half board at the Chihuahuas and we had a fabulous time. The food was superb, the facilities great and the entertainment team were brilliant - especially Tebo who was so good with everyone children and adults. My children enjoyed the kids club activities and were thrilled to be included in the entertainment in the evening. The swimming pools were clean and well kept, the hotel itself was very clean and the staff were great. My husband had his birthday whilst we were there and the management sent us a bottle of champagne and a card which I thought was very touching. The only thing which we thought could have made this holiday perfect was if we could of had softer beds - they were very hard! All in all we really enjoyed this holiday and would definitely return to this hotel.

we have stayed here 3 times and would recommend to anyone. If it has one fault it is the access to the beach, it is down a lot of steps ok going down not so good coming back up, but if you walk approx 10 mins on the flat you come to a lovely beach. The rooms are nice the views amazing from almost every room food good entertainment very good, beautiful pools, one of the best 3 star i have stayed in. I have heard a lot of bad reports about the Hotel America, but there is nothing to complain about with the mastines, you will not be disappointed with your holiday if you choose this hotel.

I went away with my girlfriend & another couple. We had a fantastic holiday, the hotel was very clean with a good mix of people in there of all ages. Staff were very friendly and helpful, i'm in my mid twenty's and couldn't have enjoyed it any more. Granted the food wasn't up to a michelin star, not that we expected it to be but there is plenty of choice so every day there was something for everyone. The grounds of the hotel are amazing, lots of places to sit or sunbathe, beautiful views and the area is very well looked after, the groundsmen always had something to do which to me showed that the hotel was well run. We didn't stay in the hotel at night although there was entertainment on as there is a village close by where there are a number of bars, restuarants and lots of shops selling the same things but well worth a look, a couple of crazy golf courses too, which were good fun. The pools were cleaned every morning and although cold at first you could swim around all day in them. The staff also have things going on in the day like water polo which was good as it sort of brings the hotel community together! There was no TV is the rooms or mini bar but who goes on holiday to sit in a room and watch TV certainly not me! Overall I think whatever you are looking for out of a holiday this hotel can cater for you, young, old or a family there is lots to do the location is fantastic. I'd go as far as saying that this is the best overall hotel I've stayed in in Spain and really would recommend it to anyone. My only slight downside was the food after 7 days but it's a 3* hotel and the food was well up to 3* standard, as you can see it wasn't enough for me not to give it 10/10.
