The poolside is extremely dangerous, especially for one pregnant woman who was struggling there the first week.
This place is not suitable for families, full of arrogant Dutch groups who take over the pool and drink in it. The manager drinks at night with them and does not wish to upset them as they are spending money in the place. Despite numerous complaints from different families, no action was taken.
The village and people were lovely but the manager of Esperides is not a manager as he does not manage.

We had a very relaxing stay in Koutouloufari. It's a pretty, unspoilt village with many tavernas and restaurants to explore. Many evenings were spent people watching from the various bars and rooftop restaurants.
As the resort is situated in the foothills of a mountain it wouldn't suit anyone with walking difficulties. However, taxis are reasonable and plentiful.
Upon arrival we were told by the manager that they had no trace of our booking! There had obviously been some communication error between the tour operator and the apartments. Luckily they had an apartment available so a potential nightmare was averted. The accommodation was fairly basic but spotlessly clean with a maid service every other day. It was definitely worth paying the supplement for air-conditioning in the room. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is a pleasant poolside bar which also serves snacks.
One note of caution: the poolside area gets very slippery! The nearest beaches are about 1km away and were a little crowded for our liking. It was our first visit to Crete and we were so impressed by the genuine warmth of the local people. We will definitely return.

Esperides is a nice set of apartments. As the greeks are known for basic apartments the Esperides lives up to the standard of a 3/4 star accommodation.
The complex does comprise of many different aspects including tennis courts, 2 pools, 1 jacuzzi pool, a gym and an area where beauty treatments can be taken just to name a few, but due to low numbers in accomodation it was mostly closed although the staff where only too accomodating to open any area for you.
We had a few basic problems with the apartment but they where overcome quickly and efficiently by Stratos the site manager. He was very helpful and courteous and was always on hand, should we need him for anything. The apartments where kept clean and tidy by a lovely maid.
Koutouloufari is a stunning little village set on the hillside 1km above the town of Herssonisos. This is the 2nd time we have stayed in the area and we have still not discovered all the charm and beauty of such an extraordinary place. There are many fine dining restaurants, tavernas, little shops and boutiques. Be sure to visit the Dutch pancake house and the Italian restaurant set in the centre square - they're both FABULOUS!!!!!!!
We have 2 children and the area was suitable to accommodate them although it could equally be enjoyed by senior citizens or young romantics. Dont miss out on this wonderful place. Asked would i stay in Esperides again - YES I WOULD!!!!
