Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel

We were on a three resort holiday where we visited New York, Hawaii and San Francisco.
After 3 days of non stop running about in New York we travelled onwards to Hawaii via LA. The flights were long but arriving there definitely made up for it.
Oahu in Hawaii was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better hotel. The Renaissance Ilikai Hotel was out of this world. Gorgeous room which was more like a suite but was classed as a standard room. I'm not sure if this was meant to be for us or a mistake but there was no way I was checking in case they moved us.
The hotel grounds were fabulous and looked directly onto the harbour .It is at the other end of Waikiki but within walking distance of all the shops and nightlife.
All in all I could not say anything bad about this hotel. The place was immaculate and the staff very friendly and helpful.
It also was quite special to me as I used to work for the Renaissance cruise line before they stopped trading and I'm glad their hotels still exist even though I think they have been bought over by Marriott.
If you are looking for luxury surroundings but not at luxury prices then this hotel is definitely worth trying.
The next part of the holiday wasn't of the same standard (read my review on the Powell Hotel San Francisco) however I enjoyed Oahu immensely and would have no hesitation in returning there and to that hotel.
