Comments:  We arrived at the Samoa Hotel after an hour and 20 min transfer, unfortunately we had to drop off at Cala, D' or which was a bit of a detour, as on the return transfer if took just under an hour! The entrance to the hotel is fantastic and we were over the moon with the central location. We were checked in immediately (into room 222) which we paid an extra 70 euros for the aircon - believe me your need it!! Again we were really pleased with our room as we had a seaview and looked out over the pool area. The room was small and very basic but VERY clean. The bathroom could do with some TLC but it was clean and the shower was good. Besides by the time we had unpacked our family of 4 didn't care bout luxurious bathrooms and bedrooms, we just wanted to jump in the very inviting pool!

The pool area is great, you do have to reserve sunbeds, you have to do that everywhere. The kids pool was the safetest i have seen, my 3 yr old could access it alone - obvisouly with us observng from our sunbeds! During the day i hardly saw my 9 yr old son, as he soon made lots of friends and was off enjoying all the sporty activities that was very well organised. My 3 yr old daughter was also involved in the kids club, bouncy castle or swimming in the pool - therefore enabling me to relax and sunbathe!

All Inc - oh my god its great, unlimited choice of everything, drinks, ice creams, etc. The restuarant again is extremely clean and amples of food and choice, its rubbish that there is no choice, people obvisously arnt looking!!!

The beach is just down the road and is beautiful. The actual resort is lovely and is like a maze, it is amazing with how many shops, bars and restuarants there are. Even mini kids fair!

All staff are very polite and friendly, especially the bar staff who seem to be there from beginning to end of day. Entertainers are brill, evening shows are a bit pants, but the kids love it, drink more and make the most of it!!!

Overall this was a fantastic resort and hotel for families, a week just wasnt enough, we will DEFINTLEY be going back to HOTEL SAMOA. If your going enjoy and ignore all these moaning people who only have negative things to report - they must lead very dull boring lifes!!!

Comments:  After reading the reviews I was very very nervous about staying at hotel samoa, and was wishing i had booked a different hotel, but all the worrying was for nothing!!

Me, hubby and 2 kids aged 7 and 6, have just come back from a great holiday

We had requested an air con room and that was what we got (extra 150 euros for the fortnight, but worth it), we had also (for the first time ever) booked a taxi transfer and this was well worth the extra money, getting from the airport to hotel in about 50mins.

The room was big enough, the kids were in bunk beds and it was kept nice and clean with clean towels every day for the bathroom.

I am a very fussy eater but I managed to eat well, and really enjoyed the lovely freshly made pancakes and fruit for breakfast or a full english or rolls and marmalade.
For lunch we mainly went to the snackbar, where there were salads, rolls or burgers / sausages and chips .
There was a different choice for foods each evening in the resaurant , which always included a plain pasta or potatoe based dish if you didn't fancy meat or fish and wonderful desserts or fresh melon and pineapple.

We never had a problem getting a sunbed , although i must say the beds directly beside the small pool were always reserved very early.
The beach is literally a 5 minute walk away, quite small and crowded , but we found that if we went a bit later in the afternoon, it was much more comfortable, and of course at the beach you have to pay for everything- so you may as well stay round the pool where it is all free

The entertainment was great - we hardly saw our kids all holiday as they soon made friends from the kids club, and all played together in the sandpit or games room - it felt very safe and as long as i knew where they were, i felt comfortable when they were all together. They all enjoyed themselves and loved having that bit of freedom.
Drinks , icepoles ,slush puppies and ice creams were all plentiful for the kids and teas and coffees were also on tap (i brought some tea bags from home, as their tea abroad is very weak with no flavour).

Entertainment was really aimed at the kids, one night the kids did a fashion show. They had all made tops out of black rubbish sacks at the kids club earlier in the day and loved showing their 'designs' off to everyone in the evening . and each night there was a mini disco. If you are a family you will enjoy the entertainment, but it really isn't the right hotel for singles or couples without kids.

We had a great holiday and would deffinatley go back .

If there was just one thing..... it was the kids club, parents had to sign the kids in but then it was up to the kids themselves when they left the club by just giving the lady running the club a 'high five'. I had always been used to collecting the kids on previous holidays, safe in the knowledge that they would be there for the whole session, so we ended up having the sunbeds near the club, so they could see us staight away if they came out. But it all worked out ok.

All in all a really great holiday. Don't worry about negetive reviews, some people moan about everything and at the end of the day you go on holiday to have a change from what you have at home !

Comments:  Myself, husband and 2 boys ages 10 and 6 enjoyed 2 weeks at this hotel, and we stayed in the annexe which is above ground level with a nice outlook of well kept gardens. Yes the room wasn't air conditioned which we knew about, but we bought a fan from a local shop and it was a lot better. You can hire fans from the hotel as well but not cheap though. The room was fine, clean and average for a 3 star hotel, . We were not aware of any break-ins.
The restaurant was fine, always got a table. The food was fine, yes chips on every day, but also lots of salad, pasta, fresh meat that was lovely, lots of choice and yes a few strange dishes, but the hotel has to cater for English, Spanish, French and German tastes so will not be all traditionally English! The bar staff were excellent always polite, drinks were served in plastic cups but they were fine - wouldn't even think of moaning about them! The only really negative comment I had were the use of sun beds around the pool. Obviously people were up early to reserve them, but people would put towels and chairs on them for most of the morning/early afternoon and then return to them, which we didn't think was fair. So we use to sit by the pool most of the time but it was okay still got a tan! The entertainment was fine, there if you wanted to get involved but not in your face all the time. The beach was a short walk down the road, and is small as in a bay, so could get a space but only a small one! Sea was lovely and clean but could get quite choppy! The resort itself was good, lots of bars and things for children to do, bouncy castles, crazy golf, a little fair with go carts etc. We did book this holiday last minute and we were very pleased with the hotel and resort for what we paid. We would go back to this hotel and resort again.

Comments:  Having read previous reviews about this hotel, I was open minded on what to expect. I thought rival hotels wrote the negative reviews, how wrong was I?
Our family arrived at 9pm we were told if we dump our bags in the room and then rush to the restaurant (I use this phrase loosely) we could go and get some food. When we arrived at the restaurant we discovered only scraps of food left. The hot food was cold and tasted disgusting. We settled for a bread bun each to stay on the safe side.
On being allocated our room on level 2 down the corridor and then pressing minus 2 on the lift. I knew we were going to the cellblocks below the swimming pool. We were not giving good directions to get to our room and even the lift was out of order. On opening the door to the room we were hit by the heat in the room. We had a quick look around the room before going to the restaurant. Our family (me, my wife and two girls 8 and 7) were staying in the room but the hotel did not have any beds made up for the children, instead I had to look in cupboards and make the beds up ourselves by using the sofa bed. On going to the bathroom I was horrified. The state of the bath was shocking, there was rust in the bath covered by white enamel. There were holes in the tiles where grout had fallen off. The toilet was very unclean, the soil pipe was breaking up and had never been cleaned. On the walls was the same Lino that was on the floor.
Before going to the restaurant on our first night we went to the reception and complained about the state of the room. We asked to be moved from the cellblock and be put in a room above ground level, as this part of the hotel looked newer. We were told, as we were a large family (2 adult 2 children?) we would have to stay below the swimming pool, as these were larger rooms. They said they might be able to move us to level minus 1 in the morning. We went to bed that night very unhappy.
In the morning I spoke to an English receptionist and explained that we were very unhappy, had a very poor night’s sleep, spending most of it on the balcony. We also told her that we were asked to return, so we could change rooms. The receptionist sniggered and said that the hotel was full. She basically said that we had a nerve asking for the room to be changed. We explained our youngest daughter has asthma and had found the heat very hard to breathe in. The receptionist said this didn’t matter and she wouldn’t change our room.
During the holiday we asked another 3 times to be moved, on each occasion we were refused, different excuses were made each time. The last excuse was that the newer rooms (which were the same size as ours do, with air conditioning) were for the tour operators and as we had booked independently didn’t warrant a suitable room to stay in.
During our stay 3 rooms below ours was broken into. On the guests reporting the break-ins the management of the hotel didn’t want to take any action. Eventually the Police were called.
The restaurant was more like a greasy spoon, offering burgers, sausage, chips and beans every day and every sitting, including breakfast. They also served sprouts and sweetcorn for breakfast. The food was of a very poor quality, not what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. If you were waiting for food from the grill, the chef presented the food half cooked.
The swimming pools were clean, but you had to avoid the empty plastic cups that children had been playing with.
The drinks were fine but served in small plastic cups, meaning you were at the bar quite a lot. I don’t mind the plastic cups but they could have been larger.
We left the hotel yesterday morning feeling as if we had been released for good behaviour. The best part of the holiday was travelling.
We will never return to this hotel, as this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. I urge you all to think twice before booking as like others I thought that fussy people wrote the negative reports. I can assure you all we are the easiest going family around and accept most things

Comments:  Great holiday! Just what you would expect from a 3* hotel.
On the plus side, great for the kids (mine are a boy aged 9 & girl aged 5). Kids club had loads for them to do when they weren't splashing around in the pool. Also lots of activities my husband joined in with although not so much that was directed at ladies. Water aerobics at 10:30 most mornings was good. Enjoyed family fun day.
Night time entertainment was average. Kids enjoyed mini disco. Later shows performed by animation staff were a little poor but entertaining non the less and the staff gave it their all. 10 out of 10 for effort. Professional dancers were on our last night which was enjoyed by all.
Great kids play area and small pool for babies. Main pool was a good size but for that time of year was packed and you found it hard to swim with people playing and jumping in all around. To be expected.
The rooms could have been cleaner - ours smelt awful of smoke when we arrived so we had to keep leaving the doors open and it took 4 days before the smell started to go! Fantastic view - 4th floor overlooking the sea. Best view we've ever had from our room. We could see the sea from our beds!
We had an air conditioning unit & tv but neither worked - we guessed you needed to hire the remotes (we got there at 3or4 in the morning and werent given any information) but we did ok without.
The beach is just a 2 min walk although busy as it is small we enjoyed it. Just across the road were the restaurants, shops and bars but our kids were happy to stay and play with the friends they made every night.
The hotel itself is kept very clean. All bins are emptied regularly so no wasps or flies around. The food.....my son and myself are vegetarian and were disapointed to find no veggie option at all. We dont eat fish so had to stick with salad and potatoes or bread. The pancakes most mornings were a welcome for protein! Lots of choice for meat eaters though and it's what I would honestly expect from a hotel of its rating.
Staff are quite friendly although my daughter left her doll somewhere (we think in the restaurant) and they werent too helpfull and it never did turn up even though it was only left for a couple of hours!
Two or three people had bandages on their ankles and as we were leaving a child was being taken to hospital with his arm in a sling. Dont know if the injuries occured at the hotel but the slope from the bar is quite steep and the football pitch is sand and full of rather large stones that gave my son several cuts on his toes, even through football trainers. Also 2 rooms had items stolen from them. They were not broken into and this is the first time at this hotel according to the police. The family of 3 (mom and 2 daughters) were very upset.....clothes, shoes, money & cards were taken.
Despite this, the holiday was everything we expected for the price we paid and great for a 3* hotel. We would certainly go back.

Comments:  all those negative reviews about hotel samoa are rubbish! i am 16 and stayed in this hotel with my brothers aged 13, 8 and 5 and my mother also came. it was EXCELLENT! the staff were fantastic! all of them! the recepionists, maids all of them! the entertainment was brilliant. the kids never got bored! the entertainers were always up getting adults and children to do activities( archery water polo etc) throughout the day and presented them with certificates in the evening.
The pool was great and the beach was about a 2 minute walk. depending on what room your in, the view was beautiful. i could see the sea, and at night times its the clearest most beautiful sky ive ever seen with the moon reflecting on the water!
the rooms were good. yes admittidly there was no air con. but it really didnt matter, it didnt bother us. none of my brothers complained (which was a change) the rooms were always clean..always! there was a tv, but we never switched it on (which was also a change for my brothers)
the entertainment in the evening was brilliant. some nights proffesionals came in such as spanish flamenco dancers, and magicians, and they were brilliant. but other nights they put shows together themselves addmitedly they were for the children, but my mother (42) and i were wetting oursleves along with so many other adults! they were brilliantly funny, and always got the kids envoled!
the drinks were fantastic! and they were there all day along with ice cream and ice lollies! i didnt go to the snack bar but my brothers were in there everyday and they loved it.
the food seems to be the main problem for most people, but i disagree. most people have gone away expecting english food. there in spain for christ sake!!! there was always something to eat! a couple of nights were themed, so there was a mexican night with fahijtas and chinese nights etc. there was pasta and chips for the picky eaters, and tons of fish, meat salad. im a vegetarian and its the first holiday i have ever managed to fill my plate up and leave feeling stuffed! some of wasnt great, but its just there way of cooking. the breakfasts were great! fry up or cereal or toast, or so many other things!fresh fruit! people need to stop moaning because it was great!

but i really do have to stress how great the entertainers were. they really did top off such a fantastic holiday!! hats off to Melanie, Neils, Lieke, Miguel and Lindsay, August 2008 entertainers! they really were fantastic, and i shall never forget this holiday! nothing i can say will do them justice!

as soon as i can go back, i will!!!

Comments:  Good points: Tons of sun loungers and good amounts of shade from a very fierce sun. Pool good temperature. Close to lovely beach, good sand and safe swimming. Staff and entertainers all very freindly and helpful (my daughter fell in love with Neils in particular in the mini club), all seemed fluent in several languages. Mini club good though probably not for about over-8s - however plenty of other activities laid on. Meal times good so plenty of time to choose when to go. Seemed to have a zero tolerance on anti-social behaviour (group of lads thrown out of hotel for being drunk and waking everyone up at 5.00 a.m. plus couple of families of Glaswegians likewise for being generally loud and obnoxious.) Extremely family and kids friendly, good layout round pool area. Mini club area in lots of shade as well with well-equipped playground. Lots of pool tables, air hockey, video games etc for kids.

Not so good points: Drinks plentiful but small so constantly going up for refills. Kids disco didn't start till 8.30 which seemed a bit late for some. Bathroom and room cleanish but floor never seemed to be swept and we had a bit of an ants invasion at one point. Maids also had tendency to leave all doors unlocked at once on one corridor while cleaning then disappearing somewhere to get sheets etc - big security risk. (Definitely get a security box from reception.) Dining room layout very odd so choosing stuff bit of a challenge as seemed to have lots of people walking all over the place in different directions. Snack bar okay but limited choice. Swimming pool a bit small given size of hotel and only one ladder in and out of shallower end which made for bottlenecks sometimes. Choice of drinks a little limited, very sugary generally. Also only found two machines selling bottled water and one of those was more often than not out of order. Never really got hang of where resort was in terms of town so limited to hotel and bazaar of tourist shops and restaurants.

Bad points: No air conditioning in room, big problem given heat and humidity, so had to hire a fan but only two power points in room (one in the toilet!) so therefore no chance of having a fan on and watching tv for instance. Food adequate but biggest down point was the menu, which was pretty limited unless you like chips, overcooked vegetables and suspicious looking variations of pork and veal for every meal. (Sprouts for breakfast was a particular turn-off.) Cheap streaky bacon for breakfast, grey chicken that tasted of nothing (except maybe rubber), tasteless boiled potatoes - savoury rice was good though which I had with turkey slices but in the whole week that was the only evening meal I could say I really enjoyed.

Hotel has potential to be nice but the menu desperately needs overhaul, and the rooms need refurbishing. Would imagine that if weather was bad you might be stuck for something to do though as most activities based outdoors. Would also not fancy being ill with no air conditioning and thin walls so can hear quite a bit of noise from next door (and above and below come to that). However staff were a big plus point and family-friendliness of the place made this just about an okay place for a shortish family sun/sea/pool holiday, providing weather holds.

Comments:  what a let down of a holiday went as a party of ten no air conditioning we all had to hire fans which cost 20 euros for the week.apparently air con in some parts of hotel rooms very basic only two power points in room 1 in toilet you had the choice of watching tv and no fan or no tv and fan hence to say tv not really a option as it was so hot.toilet smelt of sewerage and toilet had to be flushed at least 3 times.the food was varied but very bland and tasteless what put me off was seeing brussel sprouts for breakfast if u can live on salad all week u all ok we ate out nearly everyday and spent a lot on food.the snack bar waste of time and to top it off at night time we seen rats by there with little morsels of food in there mouths.the drinks were ok to be fair and the bar staff very good and chatty they were a credit to hotel.entertainment was average two nights there were good acts on to be fair not much for children over 12 though.at least wheather was good because i think we would of wanted to come home after 3 days no one really enjoyed hotel and i woudnt go back there if i was offered a free weeks holiday there you have been warned!!!

Comments:  What I thought was going to be the worst holiday ever turned out to be really good!
When we arrived, we were escorted to our first floor room. As I stepped inside, I observed the extremely basic room, which for a twin bedroom, was very small. I went over to the balcony, opened the stiff door, and looked out onto (what I hoped was going to be the pool) Doctor Artz. This disappointed me a lot, and I felt even more let-down when I discovered that my awful room had no air con in it. As we had arrived at lunch-time, after unpacking, I went down to the restaurant to have some lunch. I saw that there was not a lot of food variety in the hot meals section. The salad bar turned out to be excellent though. The meals at tea time were the worst though. There was no variety all week, most days; there was only pork and sausages. And the vegetables were unfortunately, the worst I had ever tasted! They were soggy, like they had been cooked to death! For anyone who is a vegetarian, unless you intend to live on salad for all your holiday, I recommend you do not stay here. The breakfast meals were not too bad, although the bacon was never cooked very well... My holiday seemed like it was going to be a disaster! However, I was soon chatting to the family on the sun beds next to us, who agreed about the awful food. After stating the negative points, my positive aspects of the holiday was that the staff at the hotel very exceedingly friendly! The bar staff were kind, as were the restaurant staff. The entertainers were the friendliest though! They made my holiday a very enjoyable one, throughout the day, as well as the entertainment shows they performed at night! They were kind to everyone-Young children, teenagers, young adults, and older adults too. Personally I think if the entertainers had not been so friendly, my holiday would not have been as good as it was. So thanks to Melanie, Neils, Lieke, Miguel and Lindsay, August 2008 entertainers!
Overall, a good holiday, however, unless the chef is changed, I shall not be staying here again.

Comments:  Very good Hotel food was good could be a bit to much oil used in the cooking though. I try to eat good and it was possible to do so here plenty fruit and veg and chicken and fish and pork. You dont have to eat the burgers. Staff were very nice. The entertainment staff are hard working but not the best best nights are when they bring in outside entertainers. The lager was the worst gave up on it after 2 days started drinking rum and coke and cocktails. all the local guff but thats what you pay for. Best bit was for kids and big kids you could get as much ice cream as you wanted all day at the bar and ice pole too. All in all the Samoa Hotel is not the Ritz but is good value for the money Fact. I might go back next year. Ps the price of everything in Spain is rediculous these days so best to go all inclusive anywhere you go. 4.50 euros for a Bottle of Magners in the local bars yer havin a laugh.

Comments:  When we arrived at the hotel after a transfer time of 4 hours from airport to hotel! we were told the hotel had overbooked and that we were to be taxiied to the a sister hotel, the Eurocalas for the first 2 days of our holiday. This is a regular occurance I understand. The hotel was fine and the food was great. Nice family hotel but the over-booking was a blow as we were only there for 7 days and 2 of those were spent settling in and out of these 2 hotels.

Comments:  We went to Hotel Samoa in July and were very pleased with the holiday. The food was a bit cold but with the number of guests they were feeding it was to be expected. The hotel and pool were very clean and the staff were polite and helpful, bar staff especially, although the entertainment was rubbish. The beach was a 5 minute walk away. We went to the water park and the coach arrived on time and the pack lunch provided was very good. All in all a good reasonably priced holiday that I would recommend.

Comments:  Great holiday, great hotel, food to cater for all types and nationalities ( if food not as hot as u wanted a working microwave was there for all to use !).couldn't fault food ( chef cooked fresh b/fast , lunch + ev meal foods on hot plate in dinning room every day). Only drawback if you book with cosmos, is there will be no air con in room. Rooms are like saunas especially in main hol times. Company (cosmos) policy accorging to reception, although other rooms do have units installed.
Great place for families.

Comments:  There ARE some positives but also negatives re the Samoa. Let's do the negatives first. If you are travelling with Cosmos, good luck. Their representatives are as useful as a chocolate fireguard. On arrival at Palma Airport we were messed around for nearly an hour with regards to our transfer coach, sent from one coach to a coach with no driver then from that one to a coach where we loaded our luggage only to find out off the driver that she was going north to Alcudia NOT east to Calas de Mallorca. Then eventually sent back to the first coach we went to.

If you ARE a Cosmos customer, if you book any excursions, please check their procedure regarding cancellation of bookings. Our party had booked a day out to one of the water parks with them. On the morning of the trip, two from our party came down with the sickness bug and were unable to make the trip. The Cosmos girl on the coach (when informed that two were unable to come) asked if there was a doctors note to back up the illness. They did not refund the money and their hotel rep Karen distanced herself even more whenever my brother in law questioned her reference any claims he could make. In a nutshell, there was no "personal" touch from Cosmos at all.

The hotel: in a nut shell the food was terrible. If you're going all inclusive, take extra money for eating out as, if like us, you'll probably end up eating out to avoid illness. We were a party of 11 (6 adults, 5 kids), during our 2 weeks, 8 of our party came down with sickness or other illnes. My wife was talking to another guest who said her little boy lived on bread rolls and water for four days as he came down with Gastroenteritis. A doctor said this could probably be down to the pool water or the hotel food. There were more stories of ill health during our stay. One night whilst eating out, an English waitress asked where we were staying. When we told her the Samoa, she said she had had loads of people telling her about the food and how she was amazed how they are still sticking with the same chef.

The sickness and Cosmos put a downer on our stay. However, the bar staff and reception staff were fantastic, very friendly and very helpful. 10/10 for them. Lovely beach just a couple of minutes stroll down the road. The kids loved the pool, playground and mini golf, they all enjoyed themselves (when they were not ill).

Was not a bad holiday, weather was great. But it wasn't the best holiday I've had.

Good luck with yours!!
