Stayed at Hotel Samoa early July 2011. 8 of us with ages ranging from 16 to 56. The hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and hardworking. We enjoyed the food most days but found that the teenagers with us were not quite as impressed - too fussy! The rooms very nice but... more

The Hotel is lovely and clean, the food is repetitive but there is soooo much to choose from, pool side cafe is open from 10-6 so if you miss meal times theres no worries. If you decide to go on an outing tell the staff the night before and they'll do you a packed lunch.... more

The Hotel itself has friendly staff, however the food is completely rubbish with no effort, just what is cheapest. The pool side is very dangerous, with no hand rails and very slippery stone flooring. We had no sleep throughout the weeks holiday, due to Adults not children... more

Did enjoy it
Came back from the samoa on the 28th May after a weeks holiday, weather was not that great. The hotel was fine, no ants and food was just OK, pool was freezing. The evening entertanment was very poor for teenagers and if you do not have kids between 0-6 you will not enjoy it but for little ones it was fine. The bars in the centre were fab but only if you enjoy a bit of a sing song, they also welcome kids. All in all I would go back. DMH1
Not that bad!!!!!!
Went to samoa absolutely dreading it after reading a few bad reviews but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is spotless! Definately no ants inside hotel although there were a few outside but no more than you would get back home. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment fantastic for small children but nothing for teenagers so i've just spent a fortnight with a carbon copy of kevin the teenager!!!!!!!!!!! The only downside was the food, it was ok for adults but there was no childrens section at night which was very unusual as the hotel was full of them so we had to go to burger king a few times with the smaller children in our group. If your going to samoa I'd recommend one week as two was far too long!
You get what you pay for....
Hotel situated in centre of resort, tourist shops/bars/cafes on doorstep. Beach few minutes walk. Very quiet area. Hotel communal areas clean. Rooms clean but very basic, cleaned daily. Food edible, not much variety, lots of chips. However, all meals outside hotel were served with chips unless you had pizza or chinese so we didn't bother eating out, as only there a week. Good selection of drinks (local brands) included in AI. Evening entertainment poor. Staff friendly and helpful. We NEVER saw any ants. Don't go to this hotel expecting 5 star food and accommodation, when you pay for 3 star, that is what you get. Standards in europe not as good as far away destinations for AI. I'd say, if you're booked go and make the most of it, but go with an open mind.
Use with great caution
This is a hard hotel to review as i would rate it in different ways. Hotel Apperance 3 star Rooms 1/2 star Food 1 star Entertainment 5 star Area 3 star This hotel is about an hours transport from the airport, but i you like going to trip ie. water parks, marineland, shopping in palma, then this is a good trek, it takes about 1 hour and 45 mins to get there can be a pain if you have kids with you, it gets boring for them especially if, like us, we went to western water park twice then marineland once, so with in 7 days spent not far of 12 hours on a bus between hotel and parks. Food - the food was terrible, we ended up going out alot, as we were there for 2 weeks, after day four of living of bread and chips had to go out for a decent meal, food was honestly that bad you would have to be really drunk to think that the food was ok. Area - Hotel area and surrounding was lovely a very safe place, never once felt scared or worried that kids were unsafe either. Entertainment - This i can honestly say was 1st class, all 4 entertainers were great, they well deserve a massive payrise cause if it wasnt for the entertainment being so good i think this hotel would be closed down. ROOMS - Very Basic and not very clean, had gatecrashers in rooms(ants) every person we spoke to had the same problem. Towels changes every day but room was left untouched most days bed were changed 2 in two weeks(they meant to be changed every 4 days) would never go back to hotel and would never recommend this to friends and family, although i must say i loved the area i was so peaceful
worse mistake
worse mistake of our life...spent two weeks there and hated it....on arrival it looked ok but once inside our room it was very basic...bathroom was filthy and covered in ants..had to go and buy cleaning stuff and clean bathroom myself....told we could upgrade for an extra 10euros a night .....food was disgusting and usually cold had to eat out most days....alot of people took ill i was one of them had to get doctor out at a cost of 90euros....would advise people not to go to this hotel as it is not worth the 1100pounds we paid for it......entertainment team were good.....not much to do for teenagers
Lovely Hotel but Food a Let Down
Just come back from a weeks stay at the hotel, overall we had an enjoyable stay. Hotel clean and modern from the inside but rooms were in poor condition and lacked in the basics. Like TV/AC double beds (all twin rooms). We upgraded to a room with TV/AC but had to pay 10 euros a night but worth it as was really hot. Pool was nice and big and had lots of sun loungers and chairs around. The beach was a short walk away (down hill) and shops/restaurants across the road. The only let down was the food. It was the same everynight with no variety beef, fish or pork with chips. Very borring. Luckly we took some spending money so was able to eat out every night across the road. Entertainment was excellent and there was always loads of activities for the kids and adults so apart from the food we would recommend this hotel mainly for young families. Would not go back again but like most things you get what you pay for.
Use With Caution
Well the first impression with the lobby was a good one and the reception staff were very nice.On entering the room thats when the problems start though as it led me to cast doubts if this was a 3 star hotel at all as I've been in loads of 3stars and this left a lot to be desired. Normally you would get a few things as standard such as a/c tv carpets and extra pillows all of which were missing.Upgrades were available for an extra 10 Euros per night. We spent one week with the first night on the sixth floor but the room was that hot we had to leave the door open this meant we heard the entertainment in the hotel and a Barry Sheene impersonator on his motorbike on the main street after midnight. After that we relocated to the restaurant side of the hotel and the second floor. This meant we were on the south side of the hotel and the rooms were unbearably hot at night so we had to hire a room fan several times which cost 2.50 euros per night. I'm sure this pleased the other guests we were sharing the room with which was a colony of ants(they were reported and the room was sprayed but they were back before the end of the week). I did talk to other guests about this and we were not the only one's to have this problem. What was a cause for concern is that the view from our room was down onto the restaurant roof so we were directly above it and we were getting them on the second floor. Overall there were some very nice people working at the hotel but that this hotel needs to be brought up to 21st century standards. as the rooms are from the 1970's.
Its cheap and cheerful...
We're just back after a second visit....as above, its a cheap and cheerful place, with the main downfall being the food. You get what you pay for, however, and remember, one man's meat etc. I ate healthy; salads, fish, daily soup, and was quite happy. So were all the people I saw eating there!!!!! Its a three star hotel and you want steak??? The staff on reception were smiling and helpful, and although the hotel was busy, we were given an alternative room, overlooking the pool, at no extra expense. Dining room staff were great and friendly, and responded well to a few words in Spanish. Staff on the bars were a wee bit 'uppity' but they work hard turning around the mass of customers who enjoy the drinks provided. Rooms were basic and showers pretty poor and contrasted with the 'public' face of the hotel....but, hey, don't they all??? The entertainment staff worked very hard; always helpful and smiling, and looked after the mass of weans running about!! A bit 'hi de hi' at times but if you had kids there, I'm sure you'd be delighted with them. I go to Mallorca for the weather firstly...and it was good. I've found the resort to be safe and friendly, with a variety of shops for browsing during the day or nights. The pool at the hotel was clean and well looked after, and the local beach, 5 mins down, 10 mins back, was very popular. I'd recommend the hotel to families, primarily, and people that aren't fussy with their food or drink...but its decent value for the money!!!
Dont Go There!
We booked this holiday thinking it would be a nice break away! WRONG! The hotel seems nice enough when you walk in and its got a great marble reception area but this about all that is nice about the hotel! The standard rooms which are bookable though most tour operators are at the front of the hotel over looking the shopping centre... they have no air conditioning or even ceiling fans so at night you have to leave your balcony door open and this means you will get no sleep at all a. as it is so incredibly hot b. it is very noisy until 2am! You can upgrade for 10euros a night for a superior room at the back of the hotel which have air conditioning! so if you were to stay in these rooms you may have a slightly nicer stay! as these will be quieter and have tv in them(only realised about these rooms upgrades on the last 2 days!) but even if you stay in the nicer rooms it wont make up for the disgusting food! there is only 5 different dishes every meal time, which from personal experienece i think is very very poor choice! The food is bland and not tasty at all, we ended up eating out most nights just because we could not eat the food! if that wasnt bad enough even the all inclusive drinks were undrinkable, and that was just a simple vodka and lemonade! how can that be messed up? it tasted awful! The evening entertainment was dreadful and completely unproffessional, when we have stayed in other hotels they have hired in proper acts and dancers. This was not the case at this hotel it looked like some of the drunken guests had got up on stage and were providing the evening entertainment! i have been to other 3 star all inclusive holidays in Majorca and they were fantastic! this was awful and i really would recommend no one to stay here!
What a relief!!!!!!
We stayed at the "Hotel Samoa", we booked about 5 weeks before we went, we had read some slightly dodgey reports and have to say we were pleasently surprized. Entrance to the Hotel is Marble , with large plush sofa's.The rooms are OK the only down side is they only have 2 power points and one is in the bathroom, we hired a fan because the weather was very humid (2.50 EURO PER DAY )So if you wanted to stay cool, dry your hair or charge your mobile you had to make your Choice!!!!!! . The pool was fine with plenty of tables, chairs and sunbeds. The food was typically foreign, but quite a lot of choice for everyone. we had a meal in the evening a few times in the commercial centre across the road at "Resturant Mallorca",i can recommend the t-bone steak and the paella. The Beach is about a 5-10 stroll down a hill, walking back up in the heat is a bit of a challenge. The entertainment was really very good, they have live entertainment every night around by the pool. If you have little kids there appeared to be lots going on for them with the entertainment team we booked with Travel city Direct, and they were awful, we had a 3 hour delay on our return, we were told lie after lie, and it is now monday evening and we still haven't had our luggage back yet, even though we were promised it would be delivered to our door on sunday afternoon.
