Jun 2008, Mrs G Hopkins

Just back from the Samoa on the 10th June, six adults in our party we were there for 10 days& we all had a great time. It was my husband and i's third visit to the Samoa and our friends thier second. For a three star hotel the reception is spectacular, there are two inside bars, which one opens 10.00am and is run very efficiantlly, the staff are always clearing up and keep the bar area running as smooth as possible, they ask anyone who goes to the front of the queue to move to the back if not supposedto be there, which is good when the bar gets very busy and people are not prepared to wait thier turn. the bar staff were always polite, they ring a bell if you put a tip in their bucket, the other bar just outside the dining room is only open in the evenings both bars shut at midnight. there is a small poolside bar which opens peak period, and when very hot. There is a television lounge on the first floor. Our room this time was on the8th floor, whaat a view, when had the bottle to look (loll) plenty of room for the two of us, we have had 3 in the room before, our towels were changed every day our bathroom and living area was kept spotlesslly clean , could not complain about anything in our room at the end of the day only in room to wash and sleep (bed was comfy enough )change then go out. Food not a problem, plenty of variety yes there were chips every day it was up to you if you ate them, differant types of pasta , jacket pots sometimes, the most delicious baby roasties ever. Scrummy salads, steaks, pork chops, turkey, fish, beautiful fresh mussels, spare ribs so yes is repetative if you only choose something and chips, i only had them 3or4 times. their coleslaw is yummmy. breakfast bacon, sausages, mushrooms, eggs (poached, scrambled, fried, boiled)if not done enough for you chef will turn egg for you. He also does tasty pancakes while you wait, there is also toast cheese , rolls , coissants what else oh yes cereals, nearlly forgot a must to try are the cakes and puddingsMMMMMMMM. We had a ball with the differant entertainment, it was great watching the kids having fun, although we never had any with us ( dont go to a family hotel if you dont want to be surrounded by children)the kids discos were brill to watch then enjoyin themselves, after that it was our turn Mr.Samoa, sister act , The flamenco show was brilliant, the illusionist were very good as well, my husband an myself even entered into the spirit of things and entered the ideal couple or mr&mrs show what a laugh we had so glad we went in it,the entertainment team work so hard, day and evening archery was fun,big thanks to Marcel,Rob,Merel xx,Luisa and nicole you are the best.Lastly the reception staff what areally good team of people, nothing was to much trouble special thanks to patrick for his help.think i've said enough now , hope it helps just relax have fun just remember your on holidays be happy xx Only reason 9 was weather not the Samoa

Jun 2008, Mr T Bool

Just arrived back from the samoa and have to say me and my fiancee thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The weather wasnt great but the entertainment made up for that, and rob should get a special mention as he was great with all the kids, on arrival the first impression was great as you are greeted by the spacious and stunning marbled reception, the pool is a great size with a good little one for children, plenty of activities to keep yourself entertained also(crazy golf, tennis, football, waterpolo).
The food is what you expect for a three star i'd say but one of the days there was sweet and sour offal! But apart from that plenty of choice and all edible.
The bathrooms i think must have been recently refurbished as they were beautiful and kept really clean by the maids.
If you like a bit of karaoke i recomend you go to D'alfils just down the road where they have very friendly barstaff who like to get involved in the singing aswell! The two boys who run the karaoke are Darren and Ross, or Rossco as he is also known, and they run an excellent sports bar/nightclub next door if you would like to continue your night, its called Papagayos and is easily the best bar in calas de mallorca!
All in all loved the place and shall be booking for next year!!!

Jun 2008, Mrs M Acuna Ocana

again after reading some of the reviews i was dubious about going to the hotel.
myself husband and 3 children arrived at the hotel at midnight after getting lost and the hotel staff were very friendly and they open the restaurant sdo late arrivals can get a snack and a drink which i thought was very hospitable, only cold salad stuff but anything was great at this time of the night!!
onto the room ...basic as mentioned but tatty but clean and the maids were in every day to make beds replace towels.. likewise i had concerns about the balcony single door and a lot of balcony doors slamming shut can be heard (it was windy when we were there).
the food...very similar to last reveiw good selection but like most all inclusive holidays does get a bit repetitive but there was always plenty of salads, soups, past, meats, deserts etc.. i used to ask the cook to turn the eggs over to make sure they were properly cooked!! with regards to highchairs i have a slight niggle their as they are litterally high chairs only one had a rein on it luckily my daughetr two and was able to neal at the table on a normal sized chair but if you had a baby not sure how you would manage as obviously they did not reclineand you could not strap them in. overall not the best all inclusive food i have had but not the worst ..i paid 500 pound for the room with 5 of us (2 infants) for two weeks so i certainly was not dissapointed.
now onto the important bit alcohol...there was an excellent selection of sppirits, cocktails, liquers, beers, fruit juices, fizzy pop and water and it was available from 10 - midnight. you only allowed 2 drinks at a time (half glass size) however they were not that strict on this rule i think its just to stop people abusing it and wasting drinks.
during the day there is the pool, playground, bouncy castle, tennis course, mini golf and there is an adult sports programme, archery, darts, shuffle board, water polo, table tennis. join in them they are fun and migel (adult animation guy) was great we met alot of nice people by joining in this.
there is a mini club for the kids although my boy of 9 obviously not that interested but they did sometimes do football etc,... generally he joined in with the adult games.
evening enteratinment had good points and bad...mini disco starts at 8.30pm for the kids which i thought was a little late and to get a seat you need to be in room by 7.30pm so little ones were getting tired and cranky. after mini disco there was another half hour break before entertainment which was done by the animation team (grease show, mr samoa, mrs samoa, back to the movies show). ten out of ten for the efforts and they really got the audience involved. some night they brought in outside entertainment (flamenco dancers, acrobat performers).
i dont make a habit of going back to the same place but i would go back again. great value for money especially due to the strength of the euro at the moment.

Jun 2008, Mr A Clayton

After reading alot of these reviews I have to say I was not looking forward to my stay at this hotel but trust me YOU WILL NOT HAVE A HOLIDAY FROM HELL!
On arrival my family and I were very impressed with the hotel lobby, and all the staff upon check-in were very friendly and welcoming.
We were shown to our room, which was not brilliant but was clean and had enough room for the 4 of us. the let downs in our room were that the bathroom, although clean, just seemed a bit tatty and like the rest of the room was a bit dated! the only real concern was the paper thin glass on balcony door and window, having a 2 year old with us we were very worried that the slightest bang might cause it to shatter!
The hotel has a meduim size pool, and a seperate baby pool. and has lots of room for everyone to relax on the supplied loungers, but in usual holiday style we had to get those towels out early to reserve our places!!
There is a small park just a few feet away from the pool to keep the little kids occupied.
The beach is a 3 min walk from the hotel, and there are steps leading from the pool down to the beach, but people with buggys and the elderly will have to take an alternative route, which is only a few extra mins as the amount of steps will probably be too much!
Ther are childrens and adults activities every day, which are a mixture of sports events, and there is also a mini kids club hut next to the park where the childern can take part in varoius activities.
In the evening they have a special kids disco followed by entertainment for adults which ranges from dancing shows to quizes etc.
There is an all inclusive bar with very friendly staff, and also a snack bar open all day, which have chips burgers salads etc to keep you going till the next meal time!!
The main restaurant is well laid out, with plenty of high chairs for the kids, and again very friendly and helpfull staff. My family all were very pleased with the meals, but after a few days the menu seemed to be very repetative, and I have to say there was a chef who cooked meats on a grill whilst you wait, but he struggled to cook fried eggs properly, and after seeing the pinky ckicken he was churning out we decded to give his delights a miss. Everything else was ok, there are lots of choices but we just got fed up with it very quickly, even my 8 year old said she was fed up with chips by the end!!
Th hotel is surrounded by lots of bars and places to eat, even a Burger King!!!
Overalll we all enjoyed our holiday, just thought the hotel rooms needed a re-vamp and the chef needed a few new cook books!

May 2008, Ms M Sinclair

Just home from the Samoa hotel in mallorca, it was brill, the staff were fab, the entertainment staff were great, all very friendly and welcoming, food was great, sometimes not very warm, but not always, you wouldnt starve anyway. The only downfall of the holiday was one guest staying (Mark), anyone that has been in the last 6 years, 1st week in May, will know who i am talking about, so i sugest you dont go same week as him, anyway, great time had by all. Recommend it to anyone.

I travelled with my mum and dad, my husband and 3 kids aged 2, 11, 5, whom on both occasions made lots of riends and the 11 year old loved all the day time entertainment to keep him buzy, the night time entertainment was just as good, my room was fine bit cramped but with 3 kids what do you expect... overall just go and enjoy rate this hotel for yourself......

Feb 2008, Miss K Merton

I went with 3 friends and there 2 small children in the first week of July.
I could only fault one thing about the whole holiday. When we arrived we didnt have a room and we got sent miles away to a different hotel where we were put on the 16th floor of a horrible room with a unsafe balcony with a small child. Luckily when we went back in the morning they had our room ready for us and we could meet up with our friends again.
There was a big variety of different foods and meats including salads and plain food for fussy eaters.
The entertainment for the kids was great there was something on every day apart from Saturday and evening entertainment for the kids and the adults.
The lifegaurd was really good making sure no one hogged the sunbeds and kept a very close eye on all the kids which was reassuring.
I am going back this year as I thought the atmosphere was great and had no complaints.
Must admit the walls are thin on some of the levels but I wouldnt expect anything else abroad as that is the way the buidings are built.

Nov 2007, Miss E Smith

Would put zero if I could. Was the worst holiday of my life. I and my new husband came here for our honeymoon.
It was swarming with children who made noise day and night.
The food was despicable! I am a vegetarian and there was nothing but lettuce and chips for me! My husband could not find anything he liked.
The rooms were tiny, filthy and had too much furniture. There was no air con, even though we were told the rooms did include it. We overlooked the car park!
The entertainment team were a joke. All entertainment was for children. Me and my new husband came here for a relaxing break! The shows were pathetic in the evening, with idiots prancing about on the stage like a bunch of fairies, including the men.
Although we knew it was a 3 star hotel, we have found, on all other trips that hotels have always been to a better standard. We were utterly disappointed. When we wanted to be alone and have special time, all we could hear were screaming babies in the next room.
The beds were like camp beds and not sturdy enough. On a lot of occasions the bed tipped up! My new husband, when stepping out of the shower, slipped on the tiled floor and hit his head on the sink. The reception staff refused to take notice and provide a mat. The next day, he wanted to sleep on a sun lounger, but we could not get one as we like to stick to the rules and did not get up early to reserve seats.
Overall I was disappointed and very upset that my honeymoon was ruined by chavs!
Hmm I will not be going back even if it was the last hotel on earth!

Well Hotel Samoa was 10/10!
The food was great! The entertainment was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful! The rooms were small but fitted everything in! The pool was big and cool =)
It was a good situation with the bars, shops, restaurants and the beach close by so in the daytime when it’s very hot! You didn’t have to walk miles!
The all inclusive was very good because you could have free drinks and ice-creams and ice-poles =)
Over all this is a very good holiday and a brilliant hotel! =)
So what use complaining about! They did there best!
Well were coming back next year! See you summer oh’8!!
Love from...... Emma & Chloe Chrystal xxxx =)

I think that this hotel was the best, there was not one bad thing about it!!! The pool was great, the lifeguard was always on watch and everything was in standard order! The rooms were great and the women that does the childrens hair was fantastic. The food was always up to standard and the drinks were very refreshing. The food bar upstairs was very good especially when the children (I have ages 15 and 13) got hungry! I think that this hotel was excellent and I will definitely be going back to this hotel in the near future!!

Oct 2007, Miss J Stevens

The reception was OK, but for a family room it was too smell for a family of four, the beds were very rubbish. The bathroom was OK, but needed a vent. You needed an extension because there were only two sockets in the whole hotel room.
The cutlery was very filthy and the plates was very oily and left over bits from last time. Self-services to get your own drinks, you can see a lot of flies flying around, all the glass cups are very dirty, so you better use the plastic cups.
Every time you go to the dining room you only eat the same food everyday, sometimes there will be a dish from left over’s to make a casserole. Food was sometimes cold, so I put the food in the microwave to heat it up. I read the comments from the past holiday makers about the food and the lack of sockets.
This time my experience from Majorca has been sad because it has been raining with thunder and lighting and the resort has been quiet because it was the end of season; we were one of the last three families to leave.
Every where was quiet and no life-guard to be seen on the beaches as they close down around mid October time.
I don't recommend people to go this time of the year because you could not swim in the sea and it was cold and windy!!!!!
I won't be coming back again!

Stayed with my husband, mother and...

Oct 2007, Mrs V Anderson

Stayed with my husband, mother and father in law and 2 children aged 13 and 10 at the Samoa hotel on the 12th October 2007 for 1 week. After 2 days I couldn't wait to get back home.
The food was only ever warm; we had to heat it up in the microwave that was if we found something we could eat in the first place! My husband cut into a bit of meat to find it still raw in the middle. There was hardly anything for vegetarians to eat and the milk they supplied for the tea and coffee was minging. It took about 8 attempts before I found a clean wine glass to drink from and ended up just using the usual plastic cups. Sometimes the cutlery wasn't cleaned properly as well. I have to say that I preferred the snack bar as this food was being made fresh throughout the day.
We ended up eating out most of the holiday to ensure we got something that we could eat.
The room was basic to say the least, with one plug in the room and one in the toilet, this is no use at all. Then having to allow your child to sleep on a camp bed is something else. The big portion of wood that they called a headboard kept falling off the wall showing the hidden wires behind it.
Not once in the week that we were there was the bedding changed and I am certain that the towels were folded and put back on the hook. The only thing that seemed to be done was the bins emptied.
Not a lot to do at the resort so if you’re looking for a quiet holiday this is the place to go.
There are a few bars across the road that provide entertainment and stuff, this is where we spent most of our nights.
Have to say though that the hotel staff were very friendly.
Wouldn’t go back to the Samoa hotel though even though it's only a 3 star standards could have been better, stayed in many 3 stars before and this is without a shadow the worst.
