What I thought was going to be the worst holiday ever turned out to be really good!
When we arrived, we were escorted to our first floor room. As I stepped inside, I observed the extremely basic room, which for a twin bedroom, was very small. I went over to the balcony, opened the stiff door, and looked out onto (what I hoped was going to be the pool) Doctor Artz. This disappointed me a lot, and I felt even more let-down when I discovered that my awful room had no air con in it. As we had arrived at lunch-time, after unpacking, I went down to the restaurant to have some lunch. I saw that there was not a lot of food variety in the hot meals section. The salad bar turned out to be excellent though. The meals at tea time were the worst though. There was no variety all week, most days; there was only pork and sausages. And the vegetables were unfortunately, the worst I had ever tasted! They were soggy, like they had been cooked to death! For anyone who is a vegetarian, unless you intend to live on salad for all your holiday, I recommend you do not stay here. The breakfast meals were not too bad, although the bacon was never cooked very well... My holiday seemed like it was going to be a disaster! However, I was soon chatting to the family on the sun beds next to us, who agreed about the awful food. After stating the negative points, my positive aspects of the holiday was that the staff at the hotel very exceedingly friendly! The bar staff were kind, as were the restaurant staff. The entertainers were the friendliest though! They made my holiday a very enjoyable one, throughout the day, as well as the entertainment shows they performed at night! They were kind to everyone-Young children, teenagers, young adults, and older adults too. Personally I think if the entertainers had not been so friendly, my holiday would not have been as good as it was. So thanks to Melanie, Neils, Lieke, Miguel and Lindsay, August 2008 entertainers!
Overall, a good holiday, however, unless the chef is changed, I shall not be staying here again.

Great holiday, great hotel, food to cater for all types and nationalities ( if food not as hot as u wanted a working microwave was there for all to use !).couldn't fault food ( chef cooked fresh b/fast , lunch + ev meal foods on hot plate in dinning room every day). Only drawback if you book with cosmos, is there will be no air con in room. Rooms are like saunas especially in main hol times. Company (cosmos) policy accorging to reception, although other rooms do have units installed.
Great place for families.

There ARE some positives but also negatives re the Samoa. Let's do the negatives first. If you are travelling with Cosmos, good luck. Their representatives are as useful as a chocolate fireguard. On arrival at Palma Airport we were messed around for nearly an hour with regards to our transfer coach, sent from one coach to a coach with no driver then from that one to a coach where we loaded our luggage only to find out off the driver that she was going north to Alcudia NOT east to Calas de Mallorca. Then eventually sent back to the first coach we went to.
If you ARE a Cosmos customer, if you book any excursions, please check their procedure regarding cancellation of bookings. Our party had booked a day out to one of the water parks with them. On the morning of the trip, two from our party came down with the sickness bug and were unable to make the trip. The Cosmos girl on the coach (when informed that two were unable to come) asked if there was a doctors note to back up the illness. They did not refund the money and their hotel rep Karen distanced herself even more whenever my brother in law questioned her reference any claims he could make. In a nutshell, there was no "personal" touch from Cosmos at all.
The hotel: in a nut shell the food was terrible. If you're going all inclusive, take extra money for eating out as, if like us, you'll probably end up eating out to avoid illness. We were a party of 11 (6 adults, 5 kids), during our 2 weeks, 8 of our party came down with sickness or other illnes. My wife was talking to another guest who said her little boy lived on bread rolls and water for four days as he came down with Gastroenteritis. A doctor said this could probably be down to the pool water or the hotel food. There were more stories of ill health during our stay. One night whilst eating out, an English waitress asked where we were staying. When we told her the Samoa, she said she had had loads of people telling her about the food and how she was amazed how they are still sticking with the same chef.
The sickness and Cosmos put a downer on our stay. However, the bar staff and reception staff were fantastic, very friendly and very helpful. 10/10 for them. Lovely beach just a couple of minutes stroll down the road. The kids loved the pool, playground and mini golf, they all enjoyed themselves (when they were not ill).
Was not a bad holiday, weather was great. But it wasn't the best holiday I've had.
Good luck with yours!!

Just got back from this hotel, there was 5 of us in our party and 3 of us came home with food poisioning, the hotel itself was clean, and the bar staff where friendly, but reception and cleaners where unfriendly, dont touch the food, it was cold, even if you wait for fresh food to be brought in, it was only luke warm, also its chips with everything, on complaining to our rep i was told to use the microwave to heat up food, which i replied i had not paid to come on holiday to heat up food, the microwave was dirty and in need of disifecting, The resort is very quiet and the beach gets packed, i would not come back to this resort and this hotel.

Arrived at the hotel with an open mind after reading reviews,
checked in and were told no family rooms,so my family of 5 had two rooms, both with air con(at a cost of 10 euros a day for each room) but we definately needed it as rooms very hot.
restuarant: quite a selection of food but repeated every day! Ate out quite a lot!
entertainment: my 5yr old enjoyed it,my 11 yr thought very boring as did the adults..the kids entertainers performed each night and (tried to) mime to songs which just made them look silly and at some times we found it unbearable to watch and often went to the karaoke bar opposite hotel..djs over there were fab.
the resort: loads of shops (but sell the same things in each one) but worth having a look round.
we hired a car for 3 days and went to the marine land park, dolphin and sealion shows were fantastic, also visited the caves in porto cristo..it was worth a look!
beach: cala domingoes beach is lovely with clear water, sea was quite rough and some days unsuitable for children to go in....cala millor beach is great with jet skis banana boat etc
overall hotel 3*,ok size rooms, poor entertainment, repeated choice of food, friendly staff...we wouldnt go back as 2 weeks is enough to last a life time but kids enjoyed them selves!!!!

Great holiday. Went with my wife and three boys aged 10, 8 and 2.Arrived at 6.30 am after a long journey and was delighted with the look and cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were polite and very helpfull. The breakfast was great and plenty of it. Those that are shocked that brussel sprouts are on the menu should consider that other guest from poland etc actually eat that. The snack bar kept the kids happy as did the endless supply of ice cream and drinks. Lunch was good too. The bar staff were friendly and switched on. They made sure there were minimum ques even at busy times. Entertainment was good especially for the kids. The staff worked hard at the kids club and at night.
Best to get your towels on your sunlounger before 8am as the ones with a shade are limited.
Dinner was good but I recommend you get there before 8.15 as it does get busy.
It is a very family holiday based hotel with kids pool and loads of room. There are pool tables, crazy golf, arcade and table tennis.
The beach is a 5 min walk but if you have a push chair then take the train or use the back enterance of the hotel as it's a bit of a hill.
Got the bus from right outside the hotel to puerto christo/caves and back again without any bother but being ten mins early is a good idea in case the bus is.
With the state of the pound, we only ate out twice and the resort has loads to choose from. I am well travelled and have stayed in 5* hotels as well as 1* and I think that this hotel is total value for money.
Thanks to all the staff.

Went to this hotel with an open mind as I work for a travel company and know that every hotel doesn't suit all. My family and I ( grandparents, my husband 2 children aged 7 & 9 and myself) arrived at the hotel and fell in love with the reception area, open spaces, nice couches and very friendly staff. We did request adjacent rooms, unfortunately we didn't get these as my parents had a twin3 and we had a twin4, these are on different floors but we were in the same block. The rooms were small and clean, not much hanging space for 4 of us, but my husband says I always take too many clothes. The cleaning ladies were fabulous, clean linen twice a week, clean towels everyday if you wanted them, and they kept the floors clean too. Our rooms were in annexe that had a few stairs but there is a lift, also it was nice and quiet as we were away from the pool area and night entertainment if you did want a quiet night in your room, that never happened with us as the kids wanted to be involved in the nightly entertainment.
Now, about the entertainment,,,, well the 'Animation' team were FANTASTIC, Miguel has so much energy, he organises and does all the day time activities, waterpolo, volleyball, football, darts, shuffleboard and more. He has such a great personality that everyone wants to join in ( watch out for his crazy dancing, very entertaining) my husband did it all and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It also helps to get to know other people and we met a great Spanish family, Lee, Jamie, Mike, Alisha, Rebecca,Sean and lots of others. (Thank you to you all for making our holiday so great).
Nicole and Louisa were the 'KIDS CLUB' entertainers, again they were FANTASTIC, they never stop because they start at 1000 and finish about 2200. Meryl was poorly while we were there so we didn't get to know her but what we did see of her she was great.
Rob was the team manager and he was FAB, with the adults and kids alike, he organised all the shows and team events, he has now left but I am sure his replacement will be just as good.
The pool is very clean and large enough to accommodate the people in the hotel, there is a small babies pool, again it was big enough for the time we were there. The only moan we had was getting a sunbed, if you weren't around the pool by 0830 then you'd be lucky to find a spare one. In the end we just had to do the same as others and put your towels on the beds before breakfast.
The food was fantastic, what people were moaning about I don't know. Most moaners wanted 'British food', someone even moaned that there was no pie and mash!!! Well if you want that then go to Margate not Mallorca. There was a full cooked breakfast every day with continental as well, fresh fruit, yogurts and cereal to suit all tastes.
Lunch consisted of fresh cold fish, salads, cold meats, then on the hot counter there were pastas, bolognaise, ravioli, freshly cooked steaks, pork, lamb and fish.
Dinner was much the same but you had so much choice you sometimes couldn't decide what to have first. Yes there was chips eveyday but you didn't have to have them as there were alternatives.
My mother has a stomach disorder and cant eat anything with fat in it or cooked in it!!! A problem we thought, well no actually, we spoke to the head waiter Miguel, who then spoke to the head chef and even the Hotel manager, they were Fantasitc, every meal time my mother went to them and said what she would like and they cooked it specially for her, they were so helpful and kind, thank you.
The snack bar by the pool served 'fast food' and salad, there was also lasagne. My kids loved this if they didn't want a large lunch, but we didn't allow them to eat there everyday as it was a bit fatty.
The drinks were fine, the soft drinks are a little watery but not too disgusting. The alcohol was good, you were allowed to get 2 drinks at a time which was fine as the kids got their own as and when they wanted them and us adults just went in twos. The bar staff were really friendly and helpful, my son stubbed his toe very badly and the bar staff couldn't have been more helpful aiding us with ice and plasters. His toe didn't get much better so we asked the lifeguard to have a look at it, well he was better than a doctor, cleaned it up very proffessionally and then strapped it up 'properly', again thank you.
All in all we had one of our best holidays yet and would definately go back. I would recommend this to all ages. Happy holidays to you if you have booked for this year and say Hi to Miguel and the gang xxxxx

On arrival, the hotel looked very nice. The receptionists were'nt very helpfull, they were ignorant!
Rooms: The rooms were Ok, they are what you expect in an 3* hotel. Except there were all ants in the bathroom, crawling around everywhere. But other than that, NICE. The maids cleaned the rooms everyday and changed towels everyday and they changed the bed sheets every few days.
Food:The food was horrible, it was the same all the time and it was horrible, there wasen't much of a choice, we ate out a few times at an English cafe across from the hotel and there was also an Burger King oppisite.
Pool Area: The pool area was lovely, it was really nice, there were 2 pools, a baby pool and a big pool. The entertainment around the pool area was great especially for the kids as they had a club called Mini Club which the kids went and played in, it was a club house.
There were seventeen of us and 15 of us caught a sickness bug! which was horrible, we went to the chemist to get some tablets and this juice thing and it cost 30euros! So this meant a few days we couldnt go out of the hotel room allday.
Otherwise a good holiday!
We will not return though.

i went away with my husband and two children one 3 and one 8 months.hotel overall was brilliant my son had loads to do what with the bouncey castle the crazy golf ,swimming pool and daily activities.the mini club leaders where fantastic and the staff where genreally very nice.the location of the hotel was really good close to all shops and a big play area for the children opposite where they can go on racing cars and a giant inflatable.the food was what you would expect but we did find that it got better towards the end of our two weeks (some food was very under cooked and at times still bleeding). i would recommend this holiday to people with children 3+ as i felt that there was'nt facilites for anyone under this age(no where to change nappys and the mattress did'nt fit the cot so my baby got wedge down the side the first night and refused to go back in). i would also recommend going with any company other than cosmos as they only manage the c**p rooms that have no air conditioning and the floor tiles in the room where quite dangerous.(all the cosmos rooms are allocated in the annex and are in need of a face lift, no ventalition what so ever so the room was always damp and we found that you tend to be forgotten about).we where on the ground floof and came back to found our balcony door left open by the cleaners on 5 different occasions.the rep that we had did'nt really seem bothered or interesed when approched by customers of cosmos she did'nt have very good people skills and was referred to by everyone as the moody bi**h.Please dont be put off this hotel as all the rooms from reception level up are great with air conditioning and are generally quite nice. And the kids have fantastic funn but dont go if you are expected 5* holiday on a 3* budget cause you wont get if

Just arrived back from Hotel Samoa for the 2nd year.... Once again had a brilliant holiday. Met up with friends who like us went last year and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The entertainment staff were fantastic.. Great shows and they all worked really hard entertaining both the kids and the adults. Kids club was brill, kept the children happy so we could relax and enjoy the sun.. Food was ok - as you'd expect for a 3 star hotel. We all ate well for the ten days we were there. Breakfast lovely, lots of choices with english food to choose from. Lunch and Dinner sometimes repetitive but we always found something we liked. Also a snack bar which opens from 10.30-6.30 which was brill!!! Cakes every afternoon yum yum. Good measures of alcohol, not like some all inclusives when they get watered down. Cocktails included, i'd recommend the sex on the beach VERY NICE... Rooms were basic but very clean, maids every day, clean sheets and towels. Bar Staff and Hotel staff very very friendly. Didn't think we'd beat the holiday we had last year, but we certainly did. Great time was had by all. Def be booking to come back to Samoa next year. Few people moaning about the standards of the hotel and the food but they were the ones first in the queue when the restaurant opened.. So don't listen to any bad reviews - some people just have to MOAN !!!!!! Well done Samoa

We went to Hotel Samoa in July and were very pleased with the holiday. The food was a bit cold but with the number of guests they were feeding it was to be expected. The hotel and pool were very clean and the staff were polite and helpful, bar staff especially, although the entertainment was rubbish. The beach was a 5 minute walk away. We went to the water park and the coach arrived on time and the pack lunch provided was very good. All in all a good reasonably priced holiday that I would recommend.
