" never again "

my partner booked this hotel as a birthday present and not to his fault its the worse present ive ever had,the holiday it self was ok food was edable, pool was nice and drinks flowed, but the room was spooky we were right down in the basement across from a main road with two children aged 9 and 7,beach was close by,all went well till last day we booked in to play tennis while the children were in kids club,u have to leave a deposit and 10euros that was fine untill we went bk to our room and noticed that are suit cases was forced open all my money camera mobile phone perfume shampoo etc was stolen and it was all my stuff,my partners was in the safe by reception u were only allowed one safe deposit box per family and were very very slim so i put mine in my suit case with 2 locks on,reception didnt want to know there was no forced entry we went on a hrs drive to the police station they did nothing then when we got bk we were told 5 other people were robbed too, we had no sympathy from the staff at all not even a sorry,i cant stop thinking that if we didnt go to play tennis it wldnt of happened because we had to put a deposit down with are room number so the cleaners who has keys knew the day before we booked in and thats the only day i left my belongings in the room locked up,we had insurance but because there was no forced entry we had no pay out. if yr booked into that hotel please dont go and book golf or tennis and dont stay down in the basement rooms.....

" very good "

just returned after a short 3 day break from the samoa. i would recommend this hotel and we hope to return next year. it will only be for a 3 day break as there not enough to do in the resort for a full week. the hotel was very clean, the staff were really friendly and the food was very good considering my husband and i are very fussy eaters. it was a cheap break so i didnt expect the Ritz but it worth every penny i paid.

" Comments about the hotel Samoa "

We have just returned from a weeks all inclusive holiday at the Samoa in Calas de Mallorca and were really disappointed, our bedroom was badly in need of decorating and furniture needed replacing, the bathroom was disgusting, stained bath, floor covering stained, tiles dirty, the dining room, food was always the same and not even warm, tables were not cleared and laid up again, we did this ourselves several times, food on the floor from the night before, no food left if we went in after the first hour, the staff didn't want to know, only two lifts and these were always full, overall we would not recommend this hotel and certainly would not come again.

" hotel samoa, calas de mallorca, majorca "

im writing this review on the hotel samoa after my stay in october, 4 adults, various ages. when i booke dthis hotel, i had read several reviews, some good and some bad but after xl went bust and i lost my other holiday, i wasnt bothered and thought least it would be a week away. i wasnt expected alot as its a 3 star hotel.
on arrival, the hotel was alot bigger than expected with a large clean reception area and was quickly booked in and given the keys to the room, it was on the 7th floor but had 2 lifts so i wasnt bothered, the room was clean and had a view over the centre and of the sea at the front of the hotel. the room was of a good size with alot of hanging space and draws to put everything in. 2 chairs and a table on the balacony. the bathroom had toliet, bday and a full sized bath with shower over.
the hotel is well thought out, where ever there are steps there is also a ramp or sloping walk way so ideal for people with walking problems or wheel chairs. the main restaraunt has lots of tables and was used for the breakfast, lunch and dinner. there was always a good choice of food every day. they catered for more english whilst i was there, even having cumberland sausage and bacon daily. sometimes of the food was not hot but i put this down to the fact that i would get breakfast and then go and get toast so the food would be getting cold. on the whole there was no problem with eating the food and im a very fussy eater. all the people that complained about the food in previous reviews must have nothing better to do. i stayed in 5 star hotels with worse food than this hotel had. the snack bar, had a good choice each day, hotdogs, burgers, fish, pasta, salad, fries ect. some days i would eat dinne rthere rather the main restaraunt.
the hotel is kept very clean, the staff work so hard clearing up all the time. the drinks are served in plastic glasses, this was no problem tho. the drinks were estrella, (spanish lager)martina, various snaps, vodka, gin, whisky, brandy, rum, bacardi, wine, tia maria, malibu ect also softs drinks, fruit choice, slush puppy and hot drinks you helped yourself to from the vending machines. this was served from 10am till 12pm, ofter going over this time. the staff were very polite and always helpful and you never waited long to get a drink.
the entertainment was also good, the staff work so hard to put on the shows and keep the kids entertained without hassling the adults to join in. the town centre is across the road from the hotel, this is a small resort but had all you needed there. the centre was also quite flat and also not alot of steps to get about it. the beach was a small coves and were nice sandy ones with lots of sunbeds.if you went from the hotel, you could walk down about 20 steps and then 2 mins down the road to the beach, or from the front of the hotel, turn left and its about 5 mins walk. on the whole the stay at this hotel was very enjoyable and i would reconmend this hotel to anyone, whether its somewhere to be with the kids or for the elderly. for young people after the nightlife, its not the bussiest lively resort of magaluff or palma, but there are some bars that stay open late and a couple of night clubs.

" Our trip to the samoa! "

Me and my boyfriend aged 18 went on our first holiday here. So imagine we were really excited. I had seen good reviews and some bad.. so i wasnt too botherd... i just wanted to get there. After a long journey from the aiport we arrived at hotel samoa! it looks great. lovely spot.. walked inside lovely marlbe floors spiral stair case.. great!! got our room key went to room basic but clean.. bathroom with bath and shower.. very basic could do with some tlc.. anyway we arrived at about 1.30pm so just in time for lunch.. we were very hungry aswell... we tryed most of the food... discusting... calf stew.... could have been dog meat for all we knew.. tasted vile!!! there were always a chef stood cooking something fresh most of the time it was fish.. well it was as chewy as anything and it didnt taste of anything.. and a couple of night he cooked chicken well that wasnt chicken!! there were always pasta which is my fave but after 2 weeks of just eating pasta i looked like a peice of pasta! not much to choose from.. about 5 dishes there were soupe but that was just like warm water. there were salad but that tasted sour! Anyway we thaught lets go to the snack bar.... oh no its the same food as the restaurant! except there were burgers with bread buns.. but the burgers were awful boiled not grilled and so soggy!! the lunch and dinner was the same! nothing changed! breakfast on the other hand was ok. bacon very fatty watery scrambled egg ( id give that a miss ) boiled eggs. carnt go wrong.. fried eggs.. good. beans tomatoes very strangly they were vegtables for breakfast.. alwats bread to toast with jams etc.. i filled up on breakfast beans on toast!!
Weather was rubbish while we were there.. we had 2 days of sunshine and came home as pale as we went!!! thunder storms and rain!! we stayed in the room all day and watched bargain hunt cash in the attic ready steady cook lol! you get bbc1 and 2 on the tele!! ( thank god ) we never got to go in the pool and we sunbathed twice but the pool area is lovely very clean.
plenty of shops to look round. burger king opposite hotel ( that came in handy ) good amusement area just down the road. gorgeous beach..
While we were there a man from our hotel actually died in the sea.. during the bad weather he went for a swim and got banged up against the rocks.. but apparantly in the good weather the sea is very strong as its in a little cove. so if youve got children be careful or stick to the pool. entertainment was fantastic great for children, hotel has bouncy castle although a little girl did break her pelvic on it.. shame..
we paid £350 each for the holiday and ended up spending over £500 in eating out.. shame when you all inclusive!! id of rather of stayed at home for 2 weeks and gone places!!!!
overall.. we were glad we werent working but we wanted to come home! i wouldnt recomment this hotel to any 1 unless it gets a better chef! if you like to eat very sloppy tasteless food youll have a fab time..
3 star rating hotel ???
food no stars
hotel itself 3 star
entertainment 4 star
if your looking to book i recomment you look some where else before you pick the samoa.

" Just returned from a great week at... "

Just returned from a great week at the Samoa Hotel.

Didnt really know what to expect but we pulled up outside and were pretty impressed with our overall first impression.

On checking in, we went to our room which wasn't disapointing, quite basic but very clean. Lovely view over the sea and spacious balcony!! half expected the shower to be cold (previous experiences at other hotels) but the shower was lovely and warm and very powerful!! it stayed like this all day long which was really nice after a swim on the beach (which again, was a lovely beach and not far from the hotel - worth a visit!!) its just behind the Hotel America down some steps.

The staff - hmm.. most of them would of cracked their faces if they had of smiled im sure!! but the room cleaning ladies were bright and cheery which helped loads and even tried to crack the odd English joke which made us chuckle as they were rubbish!!

The food: A lot of people where winging about the food but to be honest, it was really nice!! You could easily vary your meal every day. The fish served was lovely - be warned - the onion rings are not onion rings, they are squid!! I now find I like squid!! ha ha. They put on a chinese themed night one night that fell flat but hey, at least they tried!! couldnt of wanted much more to be honest (for what we paid)

Entertainment: Not much on really, this was the only thing that really let the complex down, couple of days were overcast and we could of done with "something extra" to do as the area outside the complex was quite quiet (although this could of been to do with the resort kina going out of season). They put on archery or shooting but that wasn't for me or my partner.

Me and my partner really did have a lovely time here, it's great for couples and families and we would go again. Im missing the sun already!! I would give this place an 8 out of 10.

" Booked with seguro - to say a bit... "

Booked with seguro - to say a bit worried regarding flights is an understatement. Everything went on time - flights - transfers etc.
Hotel was spotless around pool area and staff couldn't have been any nicer.
All inclusive food - drinks, food were plentifull. My wife, mother in law and 2 kids 14 + 9 had a fantastic time. Golf,t.v.,air conditioning, table tennis - 20 euro deposit each - given back when returning remotes or clubs etc.
5 mins walk slightly downhill to a packed beach - better off staying at pool.
Shops are limited - half an hour a night looking round them was plenty.
Rooms were cleaned everyday - fresh towels also when required.
I had my doubts about the all inclusive but would do again without hesitation.
Great time had by all - everyone we spoke to also had a great time.

" Went to this Hotel quite worried... "

Went to this Hotel quite worried after reading the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Booked the Hotel week before for 700.00 all inclusive for two adults and two children aged 13 and 8. Flights booked with Ryanair for 380.00 so I thought I had a great bargain. Transfer only took 50 minutes from airport but we were the only family on the mini bus. We were given a room on the seventh floor which was really nice, lovely views over the pool and beach and air conditioning. 10 euros deposit for tv and air conditioning. All staff very polite and lots of food to choose from so not quite sure why people were moaning as there was lots to choose from. Childrens entertainment very good which kept both my kids amused especially Neil and Maria. They worked hard all day and night. Did not venture out of the Hotel as there was loads going on and my two children had made friends so were happy to stay around the pool. Plenty of sunbeds but did have to go down early to get a bed by the pool to watch my 8 year old. We all enjoyed our week stay and would definitely consider this Hotel again. Did meet other people who had visited this Hotel on several occasions so dont listen to any of the bad reviews as my standards are quite high and would recommend this Hotel.

" We arrived at the Samoa Hotel after... "

We arrived at the Samoa Hotel after an hour and 20 min transfer, unfortunately we had to drop off at Cala, D' or which was a bit of a detour, as on the return transfer if took just under an hour! The entrance to the hotel is fantastic and we were over the moon with the central location. We were checked in immediately (into room 222) which we paid an extra 70 euros for the aircon - believe me your need it!! Again we were really pleased with our room as we had a seaview and looked out over the pool area. The room was small and very basic but VERY clean. The bathroom could do with some TLC but it was clean and the shower was good. Besides by the time we had unpacked our family of 4 didn't care bout luxurious bathrooms and bedrooms, we just wanted to jump in the very inviting pool!

The pool area is great, you do have to reserve sunbeds, you have to do that everywhere. The kids pool was the safetest i have seen, my 3 yr old could access it alone - obvisouly with us observng from our sunbeds! During the day i hardly saw my 9 yr old son, as he soon made lots of friends and was off enjoying all the sporty activities that was very well organised. My 3 yr old daughter was also involved in the kids club, bouncy castle or swimming in the pool - therefore enabling me to relax and sunbathe!

All Inc - oh my god its great, unlimited choice of everything, drinks, ice creams, etc. The restuarant again is extremely clean and amples of food and choice, its rubbish that there is no choice, people obvisously arnt looking!!!

The beach is just down the road and is beautiful. The actual resort is lovely and is like a maze, it is amazing with how many shops, bars and restuarants there are. Even mini kids fair!

All staff are very polite and friendly, especially the bar staff who seem to be there from beginning to end of day. Entertainers are brill, evening shows are a bit pants, but the kids love it, drink more and make the most of it!!!

Overall this was a fantastic resort and hotel for families, a week just wasnt enough, we will DEFINTLEY be going back to HOTEL SAMOA. If your going enjoy and ignore all these moaning people who only have negative things to report - they must lead very dull boring lifes!!!

" After reading the reviews I was very... "

After reading the reviews I was very very nervous about staying at hotel samoa, and was wishing i had booked a different hotel, but all the worrying was for nothing!!

Me, hubby and 2 kids aged 7 and 6, have just come back from a great holiday

We had requested an air con room and that was what we got (extra 150 euros for the fortnight, but worth it), we had also (for the first time ever) booked a taxi transfer and this was well worth the extra money, getting from the airport to hotel in about 50mins.

The room was big enough, the kids were in bunk beds and it was kept nice and clean with clean towels every day for the bathroom.

I am a very fussy eater but I managed to eat well, and really enjoyed the lovely freshly made pancakes and fruit for breakfast or a full english or rolls and marmalade.
For lunch we mainly went to the snackbar, where there were salads, rolls or burgers / sausages and chips .
There was a different choice for foods each evening in the resaurant , which always included a plain pasta or potatoe based dish if you didn't fancy meat or fish and wonderful desserts or fresh melon and pineapple.

We never had a problem getting a sunbed , although i must say the beds directly beside the small pool were always reserved very early.
The beach is literally a 5 minute walk away, quite small and crowded , but we found that if we went a bit later in the afternoon, it was much more comfortable, and of course at the beach you have to pay for everything- so you may as well stay round the pool where it is all free

The entertainment was great - we hardly saw our kids all holiday as they soon made friends from the kids club, and all played together in the sandpit or games room - it felt very safe and as long as i knew where they were, i felt comfortable when they were all together. They all enjoyed themselves and loved having that bit of freedom.
Drinks , icepoles ,slush puppies and ice creams were all plentiful for the kids and teas and coffees were also on tap (i brought some tea bags from home, as their tea abroad is very weak with no flavour).

Entertainment was really aimed at the kids, one night the kids did a fashion show. They had all made tops out of black rubbish sacks at the kids club earlier in the day and loved showing their 'designs' off to everyone in the evening . and each night there was a mini disco. If you are a family you will enjoy the entertainment, but it really isn't the right hotel for singles or couples without kids.

We had a great holiday and would deffinatley go back .

If there was just one thing..... it was the kids club, parents had to sign the kids in but then it was up to the kids themselves when they left the club by just giving the lady running the club a 'high five'. I had always been used to collecting the kids on previous holidays, safe in the knowledge that they would be there for the whole session, so we ended up having the sunbeds near the club, so they could see us staight away if they came out. But it all worked out ok.

All in all a really great holiday. Don't worry about negetive reviews, some people moan about everything and at the end of the day you go on holiday to have a change from what you have at home !

" Myself, husband and 2 boys ages 10... "

Myself, husband and 2 boys ages 10 and 6 enjoyed 2 weeks at this hotel, and we stayed in the annexe which is above ground level with a nice outlook of well kept gardens. Yes the room wasn't air conditioned which we knew about, but we bought a fan from a local shop and it was a lot better. You can hire fans from the hotel as well but not cheap though. The room was fine, clean and average for a 3 star hotel, . We were not aware of any break-ins.
The restaurant was fine, always got a table. The food was fine, yes chips on every day, but also lots of salad, pasta, fresh meat that was lovely, lots of choice and yes a few strange dishes, but the hotel has to cater for English, Spanish, French and German tastes so will not be all traditionally English! The bar staff were excellent always polite, drinks were served in plastic cups but they were fine - wouldn't even think of moaning about them! The only really negative comment I had were the use of sun beds around the pool. Obviously people were up early to reserve them, but people would put towels and chairs on them for most of the morning/early afternoon and then return to them, which we didn't think was fair. So we use to sit by the pool most of the time but it was okay still got a tan! The entertainment was fine, there if you wanted to get involved but not in your face all the time. The beach was a short walk down the road, and is small as in a bay, so could get a space but only a small one! Sea was lovely and clean but could get quite choppy! The resort itself was good, lots of bars and things for children to do, bouncy castles, crazy golf, a little fair with go carts etc. We did book this holiday last minute and we were very pleased with the hotel and resort for what we paid. We would go back to this hotel and resort again.

" Having read previous reviews about... "

Having read previous reviews about this hotel, I was open minded on what to expect. I thought rival hotels wrote the negative reviews, how wrong was I?
Our family arrived at 9pm we were told if we dump our bags in the room and then rush to the restaurant (I use this phrase loosely) we could go and get some food. When we arrived at the restaurant we discovered only scraps of food left. The hot food was cold and tasted disgusting. We settled for a bread bun each to stay on the safe side.
On being allocated our room on level 2 down the corridor and then pressing minus 2 on the lift. I knew we were going to the cellblocks below the swimming pool. We were not giving good directions to get to our room and even the lift was out of order. On opening the door to the room we were hit by the heat in the room. We had a quick look around the room before going to the restaurant. Our family (me, my wife and two girls 8 and 7) were staying in the room but the hotel did not have any beds made up for the children, instead I had to look in cupboards and make the beds up ourselves by using the sofa bed. On going to the bathroom I was horrified. The state of the bath was shocking, there was rust in the bath covered by white enamel. There were holes in the tiles where grout had fallen off. The toilet was very unclean, the soil pipe was breaking up and had never been cleaned. On the walls was the same Lino that was on the floor.
Before going to the restaurant on our first night we went to the reception and complained about the state of the room. We asked to be moved from the cellblock and be put in a room above ground level, as this part of the hotel looked newer. We were told, as we were a large family (2 adult 2 children?) we would have to stay below the swimming pool, as these were larger rooms. They said they might be able to move us to level minus 1 in the morning. We went to bed that night very unhappy.
In the morning I spoke to an English receptionist and explained that we were very unhappy, had a very poor night’s sleep, spending most of it on the balcony. We also told her that we were asked to return, so we could change rooms. The receptionist sniggered and said that the hotel was full. She basically said that we had a nerve asking for the room to be changed. We explained our youngest daughter has asthma and had found the heat very hard to breathe in. The receptionist said this didn’t matter and she wouldn’t change our room.
During the holiday we asked another 3 times to be moved, on each occasion we were refused, different excuses were made each time. The last excuse was that the newer rooms (which were the same size as ours do, with air conditioning) were for the tour operators and as we had booked independently didn’t warrant a suitable room to stay in.
During our stay 3 rooms below ours was broken into. On the guests reporting the break-ins the management of the hotel didn’t want to take any action. Eventually the Police were called.
The restaurant was more like a greasy spoon, offering burgers, sausage, chips and beans every day and every sitting, including breakfast. They also served sprouts and sweetcorn for breakfast. The food was of a very poor quality, not what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. If you were waiting for food from the grill, the chef presented the food half cooked.
The swimming pools were clean, but you had to avoid the empty plastic cups that children had been playing with.
The drinks were fine but served in small plastic cups, meaning you were at the bar quite a lot. I don’t mind the plastic cups but they could have been larger.
We left the hotel yesterday morning feeling as if we had been released for good behaviour. The best part of the holiday was travelling.
We will never return to this hotel, as this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. I urge you all to think twice before booking as like others I thought that fussy people wrote the negative reports. I can assure you all we are the easiest going family around and accept most things
