just had a week in the samoa, was a little unsure what to expect after reading mixed reviews,All i can say is i found the staff friendly the hotel clean good facilities, and a good range of food in the buffet resturant. the food is what you expect for a buffet inclusive resturant if you want top class resturant meals then pay top prices when deciding where to go on holiday ,the pool area is clean as is all the hotel.the area outside the hotel is a little run down due to the fall in numbers of tourists it is still nice to walk around the shops and the bars offer an alternative to the hotel bar some offering evening entertainment, which we enjoyed. and its good to help support the local bars and shops as all the hotels in the area are fully inclusive and it is having a knock on effect in the area.use the local buses to get about they stop outside the hotel and are the cheapest way to get around and give a good sevice......YES I WILL RETURN AGAIN...
- Advice: one of the best fully inclusives i have stayed in

Just got back from a relaxing holiday, the hotel including the room was clean. The food was good (and im a fussy eater), I didnt see any flies in the dining room!! The beach is only a few mins walk and is really nice. Lots of bars and shops around the hotel. Transfer took about an hour from the airport.
A great holiday I would go back!!

We stayed at the Hotel Samoa in September 2009, it was actually the first 2 weeks.4 adults and 1 child. FANTASTIC what a great hotel. I cant under stand reading reviews were people complain about the food and hotel? We were at the hotel at the time some people wrote some reviews and slated it, all i can say they must have been at a different hotel.Great food, great drinks, fantastic pool outside, splendid staff, plenty for the boy to do. Calas De Mallorca is a great little resort with nice sandy beaches. Our room over looked the front of the resort and it was great and clean and tidy. Room service came in every day.If you are only going to read one review, make sure its this one. I cant wait to go back again.

My wife and I spent a week at the Samoa in early Sept 2009 and we were disappointed, apart from the rooms which were ok ! the hotel was infested with flies, the snack bar area was especially dirty and most unhygenic, dirty floors and tables with discarded food not cleared up.the entertainment was purely for children and sadly I spent two days confined to bed with a stomach bug picked up from poorly cooked food. The meals were repetitive and not very good at all.
The resort is very good with a lovely bay but that is all.
I wrote to the hotel manager and the company head office after we returned home to put my views rather than put them in a public forum but i have had no reply whatsoever, I have now done what I should have done in the first place and wrote in this forum, won't be going back to the Samoa.

I suppose there are always going to be good and bad reviews of any holiday destination, but mine at least is good.
We booked a two week stay at the Samoa for the start of October 2009 which was aparrently lucky as the previous weeks had been dogged by heavy rainfall.
Upon arrival (arrived 2 hours late as my wifes case went missing at Palma airport) we were shown into the hotel restaurant where the cold buffet was opened for late arrivals (though the meat looked as though it had been there from dinnertime).
Our room was one of the ones underneath the outdoor area/patio and at once we noticed an odour of damp and a small patch of mildew on the wall. Well, we thought, it will be ok, and we thought that until the end of the first week when we asked for something to be done as the problem was only getting worse.
We were immediately moved to a room in the main block overlooking the road which was like having a new holiday all over again, and were told we should have said something about it before. The problem was blamed on the recent rainfall playing havoc with the drains which was a problem you could see at drain outlets all over the resort.
Good points? All inclusive beer etc (obviously) food was good and I challenge anybody to come up with a menu that caters for 4 or 5 nationalities for two weeks that won't get a little repetitive.
Bad points? As many people have stated the flies are more prevalent inside than out, which does somewhat put you off the cold buffet - I opted for hot food most of the time for that very reason.
All in all the holiday was good and relaxing, if you like reading take something with you and keep an eye on the table in the foyer; there appears to be an unspoken book exchange there that saves you paying a tenner each time for a reasonably limited amount of litereature in the resort shops.
Entertainment was excellent (especially for kids) the entertainment guys work very hard, very long hours and their patience and dedication cannot be too highly stated.
There is a bus stop outside the hotel but I did find having the exact change helped as they seem to forget their good English when it comes to that part!
I'm not sure about what people have said about the resort entertainment being loud at night, everything seems to stop at midnight and it's not exactly Ibiza nightlife but you can't please everybody and there is a late night Irish bar tucked away if you want to continue in a pub atmosphere. If you smoke there is only one tobacco shop and though they hold the monopoly on tobacco, it's still a lot cheaper than at home (stock up for Sundays, but here are one or two machines in the local bars).
So all in all, apart from the flies, and getting stung by a jellyfish in the sea I would recommend it for anybody after a (reasonably) quiet break and certainly for those with kids.
So for now 'Bye, bye Picolissimo!'

May I say we have returned fro the Hotel Samoa which we booked through Sunsaver.com The people both in the UK and Majorca were the most polite people I have ever met. We were most pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the Hotel given it was at the end of the season. From chambermaids to reception nothing was too much trouble. The same can be saqid for the staff of sunsave, they we very friendly, so much so we have just made another booking through this company to stay in the same hotel. It made a pleasent change to receive courtious service.

Hi, me and my fiance returned from the hotel samoa on 14th oct 2009. I cant really say too many bad things about the place. Apart from the repetition of food and the flys that seem to be everywhere, we had a great time. In particular, the beach was beautiful. Its only a 3 min walk and the sea is like a warm bath!! (its hotter than the pool!). The staff were very freindly and always willing to help. If you are looking for a quiet holiday i highly reccomend the samoa!!! I hope this has helped!!

Having just returned from a great weeks all inclusive holiday at the Samoa i find it hard to understand most of the negative reviews i read before we went.
The Hotel
older but well maintained, clean and functionable.
The Staff
all staff very friendly easy to comunicate with and helpfull.
The Room
Basic but a little on the small side but serviced daily, new bedding & towels as required.
The Food
Breakfast- cereals, fresh fruits, yogurts, breads, croissants & pastries, charcutery meats, cheeses, pancakes cooked in front of you, full english buffet with boiled, fried or scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon(the pancetta type),baked beans and more plus a vegetable like carrots, sprouts or sweetcorn that i found unusual.
Lunch/Dinner- breads,2 soups,charcutery meats,cheeses,compound salads & salad bar,fresh fruits,yogurts,desert counter,ice cream,hot buffet with wide selection of pasta,sauces,meat dishes,veg dishes,chips plus 1 other potato dish and something cooked fresh on the griddle while you wait(eg- pork steaks,swordfish steaks)
To Do
pool with massive terrace, great beach with aquatic life (take a mask & snorkle or fishing rod if thats your thing),bouncy castle, face painting, crazy golf, tennis, rifle shooting (all FREE subject to a deposit for equipement)walks/runs along the maintained clifftop coastle path that runs all the way to Sa Coma.
The Local Shops
touristy as i would expect for a holiday resort(seaside gear,fake stuff,booze,minimarkets ect)
There was flies (i get them to at home in summer) but the hotel had fly lights all over and you could see they took the problem seriously.
Try it you'll love it if you like the above!

Our weeks holiday was completely ruined when we both came down with the most virulent stomach bug we've ever had in our lives. The rep told us that this virus was an airborne virus which was all over the resort. I have my doubts about that as I spoke to people who were staying in the Hotel America nearby, and none of the guests there had been struck down with this illness. Only the Hotel Samoa had been affected.
We had intended hiring a car for three days but felt too washed out to sightsee.
This turned out to be the worst holiday we've ever had.
Many of the guests also experienced this sickness, we were fortunate that our children are grown up as it must have been dreadful dealing with youngsters suffering fron this bug.
I personally feel that the hotel should have been shut dowm whilst the source of the infection was investigated. There were some very young children there who may have become dangerously ill should they have contracted it.

We were a family of 4 on a two week all inclusive holiday. We found it to be brilliant until we had a problem..... The hotel manager(who was never there) was ignorant, they did not want to help us at all. All our white washing was ruined by the hotel washing machine.
The hotel staff tryed to tell us that the big brown splurges of grease were already on our clothes and it was our fault.
It wasnt until our holiday rep came in to speak to them that we actually got anywhere.
If you dont like flies then dont go, There must have been 10 fglies on every item of food in the restaurant, the snack bar needed condemning. It is a shame because the Entertainment team for the kids was fantastic, (even with no support from the hotel) They were as frustrated as us with the standards of the hotel, They seemed to think it was because it was the last two weeks of the season.
The food was of good quality.
The rooms were very small for a family of four a double bed right next to the kids bunkbeds.

This hotel could be fab, it has loads of space to sit and chill out, however we found the
biggest problem to be the food, there were more fly's in the dinning room then guests and it was a daily occurence that different families were complaining of being sick and ill after eating the food, there were a group of guest that complain about the fly's in the food and they wre escorted out of the dinning room.We will deffinately noy be visiting this hotel or area again
