Aug 2007, Mrs J Timperley

As the reviews were very mixed prior to this holiday my husband and I were a little nervous about going. What I can say is everyone is different and as a family we must have been missing something because we had a great time.
Yes, it was hot especially at night but what do people expect it’s the hottest time of year. The rooms are very spacious for 4 and cleaned every day to a good standard.
The hotel is very child friendly and you feel safe letting your kids out and about on their own. On one occasion a young child was lost and the evening entertainment was interrupted while an announcement was made. The child was found safe and sound.
We had no problem with the food and managed to eat very well during our ten day stay. The snack bar is great as you can eat when you want if the mealtimes don't suit.
We even ordered a packed lunch on a day out to the water park which was great it did us for breakfast and lunch as we had a very early start. My children loved being able to serve and choose for themselves each day. If you don't want a cooked meal there is plenty of salad and fresh fruit to eat.
The pool was great and the life guard always had a watchful eye out.
The lovely sandy beach was also only a 5 minute walk away and we had some lovely days out.
Overall a great holiday and value for money.

I am just back from the Hotel Samoa...
10 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss S Rodgers

I am just back from the Hotel Samoa in Mallorca with my friend, and for it being a 3 star hotel. We had the best 10 days of our lives!!
Not only was there a gorgeous heat wave while we were there (which was very welcome). There was a brilliant variety of sports, lovely relaxing pools and amusing entertainment every night without fail. Yes fair enough it was more for the kids. But the hard work which was put into it was amazing for only around 4 people hosting it!
The rooms were always spotless with cleaners turning up every morning; therefore we do not understand the complaints about dirty rooms.
The beach was only a 2 minute walk away from the hotel and it was nothing short of being amazing! With crystal clear water and golden sand we were in heaven!
The only complaint about the hotel really is the food, a little repetitive but it is edible!! We never found any chicken with blood in it. Or got food poisoning. But hey not everyone is Gordon Ramsey.
The drinks in the bar are not watered down-I don't think we could have gotten bigger measurements if we'd have tried!
And the bar staff are so friendly and helpful. Not to mention José and Santí being gorgeous!!
All in all an amazing holiday. We’re definitely going back next year, maybe even this year! Strongly recommended to everyone who wants good service, clean rooms and an eyeful of good looking, hard working barmen!
10 out of 10 from us!

This hotel is nowhere near as bad as...

Aug 2007, Mrs M Gray

This hotel is nowhere near as bad as other reviews make out! If you book a 3 star all inc hotels you should expect 3 star!
OK so bedrooms are basic and a little old fashioned but who wants to spend all day in their room. If you book with a tour operator and you ask for air con and don’t get it, it's their fault.
Food is basic but you don’t expect to get a la cart in a 3 star hotel.
As for staff, they are friendly if you are...and we found them to be very friendly.
If you have kids, small or large they will love it. hardly saw my 12 year old son for a fortnight. Caz, Laura, Tim and co kept him entertained from morning till bedtime. Well done entertainment team, I’m still singing and dancing to boom boom boom!
Only downfall there is that the entertainment finished a little early, but don’t worry, across the road is a few karaoke bars which will keep you entertained till midnight.

Worst holiday ever! Food was...

Aug 2007, Mr D Shirkie

Worst holiday ever! Food was disgusting and never properly cooked. Everyday was the same with a very limited choice. Cutlery and plates were filthy. Tables were never cleared away and staff were very unhelpful.
Every drink was served in plastic cups even in bar area at night. Entertainment staff never spoke to anyone when off duty and entertainment was very amateurish and repetitive.
The rooms or as my family called them "the dungeon" were very basic with only 1 socket outlet no air conditioning and bed covers only changed once in a week.
We had to hire a fan which only circulated hot air. Reception staff were very unhelpful and rude. Our rep was very unhelpful.
Certainly won’t be back to this hotel. The 1 rating I gave it was because my sons enjoyed the pool.

Aug 2007, Mrs K Helps

Just spent the worst two weeks of my life at this hotel. If you intend on going then I would strongly advise you change hotels now while you have the chance - the restaurant is filthy dirty plates, rude staff and cold food the reception staff are so rude and unhelpful.
The rooms are dirty and no air con even if you have booked it you wont get it, the bar staff yes they do work hard but your only allowed 2 drinks per person at a time a bit difficult if your are a family of four.
The staff are so rude to you not a bit helpful and make it quite plane they don’t like children one of the waiters actually pushed my 8yr old daughter out of the way - totally unacceptable.
We most certainly will not be returning, One more thing the 4 of us suffered with tummy upsets through the state of the food .
Also take plenty of money with you - you have to pay for a remote control, a fan etc.

Aug 2007, unclehunk

Firstly arrived in middle of the night and to our pleasure we were shown to the restaurant were we were given a cold meal. That is were our holiday went down hill. Information on the net said rooms can be upgraded to air condition, not so.
There was a heat weave while we were there and we had no air condition, as a result sleeping at night was very difficult. Turning the fan on every so often to circulate some air.
Every day except the first and last we requested a room change with air condition and always were refused with various answers.
Rooms were clean and always maintained by the maid service although our room was on the tidy side anyway throughout the 14 days. Only one plug so if you wanted to watch some TV then the fan had to be turned off. Phones etc had to charged while you were out of the room.
Can I also point out that company reps stressed at the welcome meetings the availability of rooms with air condition and the definite keeping on of your room on the day of departure, false information to sell the hotel.
I counted twice that there was potatoes on the menu the rest was chips. Always soup which was warm, salads were clean and there was plenty of fruit available.
Reception staff were non helpful when you had a complaint and I do realise that it was not their fault because things were not as they should have been, but they are the front line staff for this hotel.
Bar staff work hard and do give a smile and have stopped underage getting alcohol which I commend, pool area was clean entertainment was ok. Our flight home did leave an hour early and that was very welcome.
There was only two lifts for eight floors and children were allowed free range to run mad in them. This also applies to children being totally unsupervised in all area of the hotel making even relaxing in the lounges a no go area.
Perhaps if you employed security during the day to stop this, visitors with out unruly children could have a better holiday.

Excellent flight. Accommodation and facilities were good.
We did notice that standards did slip from the Saturday the school holidays began. The food was not as good, the linen napkins became paper ones.
However the holiday was good value for the money.

Jul 2007, Miss E Thersby

We had a fantastic holiday at this hotel, the resort was small and quiet but that is all you need when you go all inclusive anyway.
Food was excellent, cleanliness top notch and the staff were excellent friendly and helpful.
The only problem we had was the cot reserved for our 1 year old was a camp bed but the reception girl left her desk to change it over for us, none of that I will see what we can do nonsense you normally get.

We stayed in the hotel Samoa for...
9 / 10
Jul 2007, Mr Richard South

We stayed in the hotel Samoa for fourteen nights, 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 10.
The holiday was fantastic, hotel was very clean and staff very friendly. Daily entertainment throughout the day for the kids, evening shows daily for all the family also.
The hotel is perfectly situated, 300metres to a fabulous beech, across the road from loads of holiday shops, bars, restaurants, excellent mini golf, bouncy castles and go karts.
I would strongly advise this hotel for a family holiday, I would go back.
Negative points,
1. Rooms very basic.
2.Food a bit bland.
3.Hotel noisy until midnight.

Me and my partner just got back from...
1 / 10
Jul 2007, Miss S E Kerry

Me and my partner just got back from hotel Samoa yesterday afternoon, after a 14night holiday. We were very glad to be back, It was the worst holiday we have ever had!
The food was awful, both me and my partner suffered from food poisoning. The food was always cold and never cooked properly; we had chicken with blood in the middle. We complained about the raw chicken and the restaurant staff member just took the plate away and threw the food away, nothing was done.
All the cutlery and dishes were filthy, 1 out of 10 plates were clean, they all had food remains on them and sauces. We were stood in front of one of the chefs in the kitchen and he watched us go through 6 plates and every single one had dirt on, and my partner ended up getting all the dirt on his hands from picking the plates up, and the chef laughed. I strongly recommend nobody goes to this hotel, unless you like spending all your spending money on eating out after already paying for all inclusive, don’t go.
There was no air con, when we were told there would be, then we got offered air con for an extra 140 euros on top of the 1500 we had already paid.
The bar staff and bar area was the only good thing in the hotel. Even the rooms were of poor quality, our beds fell to pieces on the first day, all the slats fell out and the mattress fell through the entire bed. These beds are a danger to the elderly or young children.
The restaurant along with being absolute crap inside, didn’t even open on time, they were supposed to open at 18.30 for evening tea, and it always opened at 18.50 and even when the restaurant had first opened the food was still cold and undercooked and the plates were still filthy.
I am so angry with the service from the hotel, I will making a formal complaint to Thomas cook. As I had to get extra money out whilst there due to spending all our money on food, when we didn’t expect to. We ended up spending over 1000 pounds.
We will never return to this hotel, not even it was free!!! If we could give a lower rating than 1 out of 10 we would it was that bad.

This is one of the best holidays I've...
9 / 10
Jul 2007, Mr A Smith

This is one of the best holidays I've ever had!
This was our first holiday in a few years; we choose this hotel because it was cheap! My father had already visited the hotel 20 years ago and said it was terrible, so we were a bit anxious of what to expect.
We went for two weeks six of us with a further two party members joining us in the second week.
Firstly, after waiting 2 hours before we could get into our room (because it needed to be clean), we got to our room. We were on floor -2. The room was good for a 3 star hotel. There was a double sofa bed and two single beds to four people. It was clean and cleaned every day. The bathroom was also clean; the only real disadvantage was a limited number of plugs, only two if you took out the television.
I must also compliment on the maids, they cleaned the room every day, leaving not even a speck of dust, also because we were on the ground we had a infestation of ants. We reported it to the reception, and within 20 minutes or so a maid came and sprayed something down and soon after mopped the floor.
The pool area is brilliant for the kids. The main pool is the same as any other pool really and there is a nice toddlers pool, but it is only small for the amount of people. There was a limited amount of sun beds for the amount of people round the pool.
The was a basic mini golf, a small game arcade and a tennis court which you could use by putting a deposit at reception, they were basic but really good considering it was a 3 star hotel!
The food in the restaurant was basic with not a lot of choice for children, however the food was well-cooked and all cutlery was clean. Food was repetitive but the pudding and starter sections were always different. The snack bar was also good, but it was mainly fast food, but if you like fast food, then it's alright for you.
Overall our family really enjoyed this holiday and I would recommended this hotel, the resort and the island of Mallorca a great place to go for any family.

We have just come back from our...

Jul 2007,  L Spraggs

We have just come back from our honeymoon from there, and have to say that it was really lovely. The staff were polite and friendly, and extremely helpful.
The rooms were cleaned daily and to good standard. The food was basic but with plenty of choice and large selection on salad bar if you don’t want hot food. If you really don’t like the food then there is a snack bar available from 10 till 6:30 every day that serves pizzas, burgers, chips, great for the kids.
The beach is only 5 minutes walk always from the hotel or if you’re more of a pool person then there is 2 pools one large one and a small paddling pools for the little ones.
We had a lovely time and are already looking at going back again next year, with the children.
