" Having read some of the previous... "

Having read some of the previous reviews I was more than pleasantly surprised to find them totally inaccurate.

The receptionists couldn’t have been more helpful when we arrived at 22.45 to ensure we got something to eat as the snack bar was closing at 23.00. They completed our check in after we had had a snack.

The room was clean and tidy and the view upon waking the next morning was breath taking. OK the beach was on the smallish side but how much sand does one person need.

The pool and snack bar service provided around it was of a high standard, all areas cleaned at 7am and after closing each day in the evening.

The restaurant served a variety of typically Spanish European cuisine, no more than you would expect on a Spanish Costa holiday. There was always a choice so that you could use your imagination to make up a satisfying meal. The serveries were constantly being replenished.

Entertainers were of a good quality and they tried to create a family atmosphere where you could relax enjoy and join in if you wished to. Plenty of enthusiasm and fun for the younger one and teens if they wanted it. Us older ones could also join in as we wanted.

Overall a very enjoyable week and enough to do without breaking the bank, the local buses were cheap and on time when we used them.

" After reading these reviews myself my... "

After reading these reviews myself my partner and our one year old daughter (and another couple) went on this holiday with trepidation.

This was totally unfounded as it certainly rates among one of our best holidays. The hotel couldn’t have been more child friendly - even the balconies were totally child proof and we didn’t lose any of our daughter’s toys!

The food was always edible and some occasions very nice, we didn’t go and watch any of the evening entertainment because it was too loud for a sleeping one year old but people always seemed to be enjoying themselves!

The pool area was always kept clean and tidy as were our rooms (cleaned every day) and the staff were always happy to help. Especially reception.

We’d recommend the Samoa to anyone and we are going back next year.

" I went with a friend and 2 children.... "

I went with a friend and 2 children.

Good points:
The bar staff and entertainers were great.

Bad points:
50% of guests had ear infection from pool, apparently this had been going on since June and the hotel said it was due to wind, sun and water. So why were we the only hotel in the area to have it?

10% of guests had throat infection (me being one of them).

We had 5 room burglaries in one night (not us thankfully).

Safes are in reception and thieves also broke them in to - probably with safe key, but why didn’t they change locks!

I asked bar staff if this was a regular occurrence and they said no but was told by guests whose family had been in June that it had happened then. The burglaries were all on bottom floor so why have they not fitted security cameras instead of employing a useless security man?

We had armed security but all he did was check people had cards at dinner time and be very rude, he said he was glad my friend and me were leaving!

Entertainers can not get free drinks so they tend to latch onto guests; which is ok now and then but not every night.

Food was ok but little choice

Am happy to say that we had a great holiday as we met loads of good friends and was determined to have good time. I would not go back to The Samoa but we liked the area

" My partner and me went to the Samoa... "

My partner and me went to the Samoa with mixed feelings having read the reviews about this hotel. Having now stayed there I can put a few points right for those people who are having doubts about there holiday there.

We arrived at 1.30am and were greeted by two very nice gentlemen who helped us in every way they could and got us up to our room they also told us where we could get a drink at one of the local bars

we were there from the 20 July to the 27 and had a lovely holiday. found the meals to be ok and the staff I will give them 10 out of 10.

The rooms were very clean and cleaned every day.

the pool was very clean and once again cleaned every evening.

if there is one thing I was disappointed with is that there is not enough adult entertainment on an evening but we found some great entertainment 100 yards away across the road .

GREAT RESORT Have a nice time Alan Thompson (York)

" This hotel is the worst hotel I have... "

This hotel is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to book. The food was awful; we ate out several times, as there was no choice. It was on a take it or leave it basis. The entertainment was a joke. If it wasn’t the guests entertaining us it was the four clowns dressed in different outfits. The drink was watered down--including the orange juice at mealtimes?!? It was impossible to get a coffee in the hotel after breakfast and before 11am, as you were not allowed to bring it out of the restaurant.

I complained to the Travel City Direct rep on several occasions and she just was not interested. The family in the room next to me had children with stomach-ache disorders (possibly from the food). My own child came home with a similar disorder and we all felt ill at some time during the holiday. There were families who demanded to be moved as the class of hotel was below what was expected of a 3 star.

I thank my lucky stars I was there only one week. I will never repeat this hotel or the tour operator!! I scored this hotel 2 for the pool and the maid service.

" The Hotel Samoa was one of the best I... "

The Hotel Samoa was one of the best I have stayed in.

The food on occasions wasn’t all that great, (choice wise), but it was always edible.

The rooms were clean, a bit cramped for four sharing (bunk beds and 2 single beds) but for just sleeping there it didn’t really matter.

The disabled access was brilliant. Compared with some places I have been this shone above them! There are lifts able to fit wheelchairs in, there are ramps everywhere. You can easily get around the resort and the hotel. My friend had an electric buggy so she found it really easy to get around on her own. My mother has a manual wheelchair, which I pushed and it was easy to get to wherever you wanted to go. As long as you knew where the ramps up and down the pavements outside the hotel were you were fine.

The pool was fantastic. Cold, but in the heat of the day it was refreshing!

The entertainment staff were amazing. They had loads of activities for the youngsters and teenagers. There were numerous competitions and activities for all age groups including the adults. They spoke all the languages needed for the guests to understand what was going on. With some of the shows they get the guests to join in.

I think it is very much family based so maybe not for late teens or early 20s, although the nightlife is pretty decent. A good few of the bars around the resort are open until the early hours. There are no clubs, just pubs and cafes.

I didn’t venture down to the beach but it looked very picturesque.

The staff were very welcoming and always ready to help. The majority of them spoke English so it was easy to have a laugh with them.

The atmosphere was very relaxed and I would definitely go there again.

" Give this place and certainly the... "

Give this place and certainly the hotel a miss. When it was raining there is nothing at all to do. The hotel rooms were a mess the wallpaper was coming off the walls and the paint was coming off the wood doors on balcony.

The food was disgusting and there were no snack bars open like stated on the net, there was also no kids clubs for under the age of four or babysitting on request at all when it is stated on the net from the age of 2 upwards, we were not allowed to take the children to the party or in the kids room to get there face painted or for them to play even with parental supervision. we had to children aged 2 and 3 and they were expected to sleep in bunk beds which was not safe so they had to sleep in with us in 2 single beds. When we asked to change rooms as it wasn’t safe we were told to contact our rep which no one new who it was, the reception gave us a number to ring and they did not speak English, it took 8 hours to find out and he promised everyday to have our room changed by the following day and this never happened all the information he gave us about the room and the trips was incorrect.

We had a power cut the first night with a young girl stuck in the lift when the receptionist was informed she did nothing. Calas de Mallorca is in the middle of nowhere and u either had to rent a car or travel by bus for almost an hour to go anywhere, the town had about 15 shops, which sold the same things in almost all of them. The beach is tiny and has no water sports.
