Hotel Samoa Reviews
" Just back from Hotel Samoa in Calas... "
Submitted By: Mrs M MccabeThe food was good and varied but a bit like a transport cafe in the mornings but had table cloths at lunch and dinner. The Staff (only some) were cheery but very helpful.
The entertainment staff were great especially Kevin. If anyone out there has recently returned from the Samoa and know the tunes, and dances Kev and the girls performed just before lunchtime and at the end of the evening, I would like to get a copy as they had the whole place up dancing or indeed in the pool. The location of the Hotel was just perfect, a short stroll from the beach and a fantastic walk along the coast.

The hotel lies only about 5 minutes walk from the beach that is quite lovely. The downside is you encounter around 80 steps to get there. No problem for fit and healthy people like us but could be a little daunting for people with walking problems. The beach is small but lovely with soft sand making easy bathing as the sea is shallow for quite some distance out without pebbles. The beach has facilities such as a bar, pedalos and a lifeguard watch. Snorkelling is quite good as the colourful fish are in abundance all within your depth. If you want to scuba there are facilities to do this as well. The sea is crystal clear and warm on good days although we encountered several days of rough seas where the red flag was fighting and you simply could not swim at all.
Back to the hotel. Crazy Golf is free as is the table tennis and tennis courts. You simply leave a deposit for the equipment that is refunded upon return.
All in all this is a hotel where value for money afforded in abundance and although you have to pay extra for upgrades for TV and aircon in your room you simply don't need to in September. I would not go here in the very hot period of June July and August.
I would recommend this hotel to families on a budget but if you could afford a little more then don't hesitate to go elsewhere. However the Samoa is great value for money but don't expect to be pampered like you would in a 4 or 5 star. Like I said you get what you pay for.
Our digital camera together with some money went missing and the hotel staff gave us the number of the national police in Madrid as a means of support. The Police were useless informing us we had to go to Palma to file a police report for insurance purposes. We discovered our hotel door leading to the balcony had been compromised and it appeared we had been robed in our sleep but thankfully most of our cash was stored into the hotel safe deposit box you can hire for 31 euros for the 2 weeks or 20 euros for 1 week.
Well that’s it from me what more can I say except have a great Holiday at the Samoa but like I said don't expect to get pampered on this sort of money.

Submitted By: Miss J HenshawMe and my boyfriend would definitely go again. I didn’t want to come home. I’ve just got back. Food was very nice, rooms really clean and comfy, pool was gorgeous, the beach is fantastic but watch out for jelly fish lol.
Found some really good clubs, I loved it. Don’t know why people moan, for the money I paid it was well worth it. If anyone is going I’m sure you will like it there is no fault with it at all.

Submitted By: Mr J MillarNo air con, poor/dirty bathrooms. Dinning room is like being back at school, in fact that maybe too kind? It's like a sheep farm where your pend in to find a table and lead out as quickly as possible for the next flock to arrive.
Pool area is in a poor condition, including beds and they appear dirty. The dirtiest pool area I have ever witnessed. The entertainment is geared for Kids, in which I can't fault, but this Hotel is never 3 star.
All inclusive is a great idea, if you have never tried it before don't go here. I wouldn't recommend this Hotel to anyone. Then again this is only an opinion, but we can't all be wrong.

Submitted By: Miss L AlexanderThe entertainment team, Joel, Kevin, Marsha, Louise and Beckie made our holiday. The kids club, adult sports and evening entertainment were great. I tried rifle shooting and a Dutch board game I can't pronounce but had a go anyway!
My daughter wants to go back next year so that shows it was a good holiday. Lynn and Shannon, Scotland.

Submitted By: metermanMould in all corners of bathroom. The bath had been patched up with some thing that looked like dry rise pudding, no cover on one electric socket, electrical ties holding bunk beds together. Hairs all over the bathroom, dirty towels, dirty toilet, skirting board hanging off, broken patio glass hole in wall, draws that would not close, skirting board hanging off. Infested with ants. We informed the rep but she said there were no more rooms in hotel or on the island.
The food was shocking at lunch my wife and 2 kids had plate of wedges each I had a burger which I could not eat. I could go on for ever but I won’t. My advice is stay well away. Travel City Direct don’t want to know.

Submitted By: Miss D FreemanThey do not cater for children at all at mealtimes. There was a nice restaurant opposite where you see a lot of the Hotel Samoa guests eating. The lady said if it wasn't for the Samoa they probably would not be in business.
The staff were rude and never smiled and one night the security man was the rudest person I have ever met. At 12.05 he cleared everybody from the bar area taking anything on the table.
The rooms are very small, very hot and very dirty. Linen supposed to be changed daily but all they did was fold the dirty towels back up to make it look like they've been changed. Ants everywhere, reception not interested.
Pool too small for the amount of people. All drinks served in kiddie size cups so constantly waiting at the bar sometimes for 15 minutes. The last day we were being picked up at 7.50 am, breakfast opens at 8, when asked at the reception if we could get a drink the man rudely and with a smirk told us to go the shopping area if we wanted a drink knowing full well nothing was open until 9.
This meant we had not had a drink or food since the night before, not good when you have children with you. The only good part of this holiday was the beach which is lovely and the shopping centre was also good.
Would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

Submitted By: Mrs S BrailsfordEntertainment the worst if have ever seen. Ants, ants, ants but you have to deal with it all yourself. No air conditioning. No TV. well not if you don't pay extra and even then you are on a waiting list that last for 2 weeks so you have no chance. Bus to airport goes without you, leaves early, no one cares.
I could go on and on this really is a holiday from hell and in this day and age should not be allowed, not been touched since the 70's. Definitely not 3 star, which rep did actually confirm there is a different rating amongst 3 star this being the lowest.

Submitted By: Mrs A ThomasTransfer time from airport was about 1hr 30 mins.
Accommodation: rooms very basic with no air conditioning. Can rent fans which are 2 euros and 50 cents a day all they do is waft the hot air around the room. Heard from other guests can put your name on waiting list for air conditioned room which we did, waited 3 unbearable nights - cost us extra 10 euros a night on top of the cost of the holiday, but well worth the money. We had visitors to our room by the name of ants. They were everywhere in the wardrobe, drawers, bathroom and even on you in bed - lovely as the little buggers bite.
Staff: very rude, very arrogant, very ignorant. The only friendly staff was the cleaner. Others never smile, say please or thank you. Lights out in the dining room 10am sharp! Got mouthful of abuse to leave dining room as tables needed clearing, but as all the other tables needed to be cleared we couldn’t see what the fuss was about. Reception - one in particular was extremely rude, very abrupt and shouldn’t have a customer related job as I felt she didn’t have the appropriate manner to deal with holiday makers who are looking forward to be greeted with a smile.
Entertainers worked extremely hard both day and night, although entertainment wasn’t always appropriate for adults later on in the evenings - very childish. Kept kids amused most of the day.
Food: plenty of it, especially hake! Food in snack bar was always fried. Not a lot of variety of fresh fruit for breakfast. Lunch seemed to be better than evening meal, although you could usually find something to eat. Felt had to eat out several times as wanted something different to eat, food got repetitive.
Pool area: good size terrace. Pool far too small for amount of people using it. Lots of lilos, boats and water pistols to annoy you. Had to get up at 7am for sun bed and parasol – sun beds not unlocked until about 8.30am. If you didn’t get up, you didn’t get a sun bed. Children got thrown out of shallow end of pool twice daily for water polo, which meant they either had to get into the deep end - not good if they can’t swim or baby pool. Word of warning do not sit behind goals when they are playing water polo as 9 times out of 10 you will get a ball in the face. Lots of children going down with ear infections.
Children’s play area: was ok, but inflatable castle was never actually inflated whilst we was there. Kids need their sandals on, lots of pine needles, which never seemed to be cleaned up. They also have mini golf which kids enjoyed.
Beach: was lovely, only 10 min walk from hotel down a hill, but well worth the struggle back up the hill. Sun beds were 10 euros 50 cents for 2 beds and parasol for the day. Water was clearer than the pool and beach was extremely clean and well kept- recommend.
There was a private doctor who visited the hotel daily, if you needed to see him/her it was 80 euros plus the cost of medication. Would not accept credit card.
Final summary: although it was a small resort it was very pleasant, enough restaurants and shops to keep you going for a couple of weeks. Would go back to resort, but definitely not back to hotel Samoa - very disappointed.

Submitted By: Mrs M MarleyEntertainment at night cater for families not couples. So went to the centre every night lots of good entertainment there. Hotel would be perfect if it had air conditioning and more professional entertainment at night.
Would recommend this hotel especially if you have children.

Submitted By: Miss S BarkerThe food was nice, lunch time had the best choices of food in my opinion. All of the staff are very nice (and good looking).
The beach was literally 2 minutes away and its very clean and quite small and secluded. The water was also amazingly clear.
I really enjoyed this holiday and want to go back. There is definitely a large range of ages so everybody should meet people there. Go to hotel Samao its amazing.

Submitted By: Mr J WarburtonAll inclusive does not mean what it says. When you book into your room, you will find it has no Air conditioning. This is because the hotel will first of all rent you a fan for 2 euros 50 per day (it is cheaper to buy a new one from across the road.)
Yes the hotel does have air con but you must ask to be placed on a waiting list. We waited for two days in a room that never cooled down at all. We were then charged ten euros per day to be transferred into a room with air-conditioning. Keep all of your receipts or you will not get your deposits back either.
The dining room is basic and if you don't like ants whilst you are eating, I suggest you sit towards the middle of the dining room. The walls are infested with them. Don't bother complaining to the reception or even the holiday reps, because they are not interested.
If you are booking for two weeks good luck. I advise you to hire a car or take lots of money for the scandalous excursions.
If I sound a little bitter it is because I am. I read reviews from people who gave this hotel a 10/10 rating. I shudder to think what kind of lifestyles they lead in this country.

Submitted By: hoppoGot back to the room early evening to be greeted by ants, went to reception to complain, where I was given an ant spray. The bathroom was clean but still wallpaper coming away, clean towels but still dirty marks on them. Went for dinner again below average (good job burger king across from hotel).
The pool was full of inflatables and people throwing balls. Five days into the holiday we had enough, the food was below average, entertainment was below average all in all very disappointing holiday, would not recommend it and would not stay there again. The hotel has got a problem with ants.

Food in restaurant was disgusting and the snack bar was just the left over’s on hot plates to keep them warm the following day sat out so all the flies can have a field day no signs of fresh hot dogs, burgers etc made as ordered! Which is what I expected from a snack bar we spent a fortune on eating outside of the hotel for all inclusive this is out of order!
My son caught an ear infection from the pool water which cost me 80 euros for a doctor and 30 for the medicine.
All my other 4 children had severe sickness and diarrhea as so did the 4 adults in my party, and after speaking to many other guests so did they it was an outbreak but the rep claimed it was just a viral infection that a few had suffered with don’t be fooled it is the food, and drinks and poor hygiene if this had been in the UK it would have been shut down.
The actual resort itself is ok but very small not much to do! If you are considering going here don’t bother go somewhere else, I could go on and on but I guess you get the picture.
