10 / 10
Oct 2007, Not Specified

I booked this holiday with my mate as part of a last deal thing. We got what we paid for to be honest. The food was good, the hotel was good, the entertainment was good, Louise (the entertainer was great) I didn't find a problem with the hotel at all, it is situated very well.
Just a correction said about the over armed security guard, because he was actually very helpful. Me and my mate were two of the guys you may have seen getting attacked outside the hotel that night by a gang of other lads, my mobile was taken and another person was left in hospital in a completely unprovoked attack and if it wasn't for the "over armed security guard" I probably would have ended up there too. Nothing to do with beer on tap being available to us in the hotel.
But events like that happen and we didn't let it affect our stay and we had a great rest of the holiday.

Oct 2007, Mr N Delaney

I booked this holiday as a cheap & cheerful last minute break for myself & my girlfriend, it turned out neither cheap nor cheerful!
We booked a room with a sea view; the room we actually got was just off the 1st floor foyer and had a lovely view of Burger king. All I can say about the room is "very basic".
The food was disgusting, I’m not a snob but we had to eat out every night in restaurants. The place was full of chavs.
The staff were on the whole pretty friendly, when they could be bothered.
The pool was freezing cold & you could never get a sunbed.
Basically do not stay at the Samoa.

Oct 2007, Miss H Grainger

THE GOOD POINTS:
Our room was basic but very clean and the cleaning staff were very friendly.
THE BAD POINTS:
Room: The hotel was noisy with people screaming and shouting and banging on doors late at night. The walls are paper thin, we could hear next door talking.
Food: AWFUL, AWFUL, and AWFUL. It was cold and disgusting. There was a microwave in the restaurant to warm your food up. We heard plenty of other people complaining about the food saying they would never go back to this hotel.
Pool Area: This is another hotel were you have to get up at the crack of dawn to put your towel out. Most of the sunbeds had gone by 8.30. Then at 10.30am every morning the music started, this was played all day every day till 6pm and was like being in a nightclub. Absolutely no chance of relaxing by the pool.
The Resort: Dated, shabby and neglected with nothing going on. D'Alfil pub was the only highlight, nice food (where we ate most nights) and a funny DJ.
Overall: Avoid this place at all costs.

Hotel in need of re-furbishment, bar...
4 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr P Thornley

Hotel in need of re-furbishment, bar area very drab and depressing. All drinks served in plastic cups, I would expect this in pool bar area but not in main bar.
Food variety ok but there are chips almost every meal time and food not very hot- how ever if you find any meal time there is nothing you like, just ask the staff and they will always find you an alternative even if it be ham and cheese.
Rooms are clean and tidy (need new bath towels) beware you only get 1 day complimentary soap etc.
Most staff are very helpful and cheerful.
The Domingo beach is very tranquil and clean- but there are no toilets.
Bar called central meeting place is very comfortable and welcoming.
If you want to eat out we can recommend Casa Pila opposite the Samoa hotel for good hot reasonably priced food and a great mug of typhoo tea!
From beginning of September this are starts to close down.
Great night out to be had visiting shown Es Foguero (125 Euros for 2 incl) food great and wine included all night. Day trip to Palma worth a whirl. Palma airport a nightmare you require good walking shoes as you have a long trek when arriving.
Be careful with luggage weight on return, as they do not let you off with anything (18 Euros for 2k overweight- 1 k per person and no hand luggage).

Oct 2007, Mr D Phillips

My wife and I spent 11 nights in the Samoa hotel.
We enjoyed our holiday very much and feel the only down side of the holiday was the food which we found very repetitive. The upside of the holiday was the great weather.
We found the hotel very family friendly and are hoping to return next year with our children and grandchildren who we feel would have absolutely loved this hotel, what with the lovely pools and entertainment and activity programs
Our hotel room though basic was clean and comfortable. The room maid was friendly as were most of the staff. The exception being the really stern security guard.
We met some really nice people; Jayne and Steve especially.
Just one more point to add.
Get up early to be able to get a sun lounger.!!!!!!!!!

Just back from the Samoa!!! Have read...

Oct 2007, Mr G Taylor

Just back from the Samoa!!!
Have read all other reports and I can agree with bits from them all.
When you see the hotel at first the reception looks good and is very clean. The rooms on the other hand were like something from the 70's. I know it's only a 3* but the beds are shocking and only 1 socket in the room... they were clean and the maids done a good job.
Food was bad; It was cold all the time bar one day when the Rep had a go at the manager. We ended up eating across the road in the bars which were really good value for money.
If you are going with kids they'll have a good time; staff are really good with them. It was just me and my wife, but you could see the kids enjoying it.
All in all it wasn't a bad holiday as we met some great people and had a laugh outside the hotel.
But we won't be back!!!!

Oct 2007, Miss C Taylor

Don't listen to the bad reviews on this hotel, it was fantastic for a 3 star hotel. We've just got back from a weeks holiday in Samoa and had a brilliant time!
The hotel was clean; the rooms were a bit basic, but cleaned everyday. The pool area was excellent, a lot of people at Samoa for 2nd/3rd time! The staff were all very friendly, and the entertainment was really good day and night (sometimes better than others)
The resort is a lovely place for families with a few bars, lots of shops opposite the hotel. There's also a little train that runs around the resort.
Overall it is a brilliant 3 star and I would recommend it to any family.

Sep 2007, Mr J Tighe

10 out of 10, just got back from the hotel for a second year in a row and would say the bar staff were fantastic quick and polite. Entertainment staff were fantastic; very chatty and very friendly always wanted you to join in with the activities they had planed like football, water polo and volleyball
The food was ok for a 3 star hotel but it didn’t really bother me as I was in the pool or doing an activity with the entertainers.
The pool size is great for all ages and the room size is just perfect for 3 to 4 people. The entertainment over night was fantastic and I would definitely go back next year, they’re apparently doing the hotel up over the next 6 months while its closed.
Overall it was a fantastic hotel and I met some lovely people

My boyfriend and I booked this...
8 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss K Day

My boyfriend and I booked this holiday really last minute and as it was our first abroad together I was a bit concerned as to what we were going to get. However I needn't have worried.
We arrived in the morning and were told that they didn't have a room allocated but this was due to it being booked so late and not the hotels fault. They resolved the situation within 5 minutes and we were shown to our room which was basic but clean and had a lovely view over the garden.
We found the food of a good standard for a 3 star hotel and the bar was also absolutely fine - I found no evidence of the alcohol being watered down having seen the bar staff open new bottles of spirits etc which were sealed.
The entertainment was a bit dodgy on some nights but as mentioned in previous reviews there are some decent bars and clubs around the resort. Also we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
The resort itself was quiet, but that's what we had gone for, a bit of peace and relaxation! We were more than entertained by the bars and mini-golf in the centre!
Overall it was just what we expected for the price we paid. May not go back as we like to go somewhere different each time but would certainly recommend.

My husband and I have just returned...
2 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs B Field

My husband and I have just returned from 1 week at the Samoa hotel. The holiday got off to a very bad start. First my husband’s suitcase did not arrive at Palma airport. We spent 4 hours looking for it, filling in forms and being given the wrong info by different people. First of all there was no coach to meet us to take us to the hotel, after spending nearly an hour walking up & down the airport looking for the Fleetway Travel desk, we were finally told that Fleetway travel operate under the name of Arcanas 2012.
After speaking to someone at the 2012 desk we were told that transfers were not included in our booking and we would have to make our own arrangements to get to the hotel. Before making a firm booking I contacted Fleetway travel and was told that transfers were included in this all inclusive deal. I had to keep contacting them with regard to our insurance documents as they were not sent out to us when they should have been. They arrived the day we left so we did not have them in time.
After much deliberation, we were told 2012 would get us on a coach to take us to the hotel but it would cost 15 Euros each. We had no choice other than to do this. We finally arrived at the hotel around 2.30 in the afternoon instead of 10.30 as anticipated. We missed breakfast and lunch at the hotel as we arrived too late. After finally getting into our room all we wanted to do was relax but the people in the next room had other ideas as they were so noisy. In the week we were there, our bed linen was never changed. We had to ask for clean towels on the third day as these had not been changed either. The room was not cleaned for 3 days, we had to make the beds ourselves. When we asked the maid if the room was going to be cleaned she always said yes but for reasons known only to her it was not done. The room was not swept or washed out the whole week we were there. The smell from the bathroom was disgusting.
The food in the restaurant was always cold, chips & veal with everything. The cutlery and crockery were filthy. After 2 days at the hotel we decided to eat out as we both developed stomach problems. As we paid for all inclusive this was an added expense on top of everything else. The restaurant staff were very unfriendly, never smiled and if you asked them a question they would walk away from you and not answer.
The drinks at the bar were watered down and the food in the snack bar was disgusting. You could never get a sunbed. The only thing the hotel had going for it was the evening entertainment which was fine. No Fleetway travel - Arcanas 2012 rep was at the hotel. We had to make several telephone calls to try and get a transfer from the hotel back to the airport, this cost us another 15 Euros each.
All in all the hotel which was supposed to be a restful break was nothing short of a disaster. We would certainly not recommend this hotel or travel company to anyone and will certainly not be going back or using this travel firm again.

I have just arrived back from the...

Sep 2007, Miss M Smith

I have just arrived back from the Hotel Samoa and had a brilliant time.
This is my second visit to Hotel Samoa this year, and I think it gets better and better. This is my first time going abroad without my parents and the first time my friend had been abroad, and was very nice to go here as my first trip without parents.
The bar staff are brilliant. Always singing and dancing whilst serving you tour drinks. The entertainers were great. The shows in the evening were ok, but cut a little short I thought, other than that they were great.
The shops across the road were really good, and good night life as well. The karaoke bar was open till 3 in the morning but stopped the singing at 12 midnight. Then round the corner there were a couple of night clubs which were cool.
The food in the restaurant was ok, I’m quite fussy, but I could always find 1 thing I liked.
The rooms were cleaned every day, with clean sheets and towels. We did at one point have an ant infestation, which was reported to the reception and was cleared up extremely quickly.
Over all I had a brilliant holiday and will definitely be going back again one day.

Just got back from a 2 week stay in...

Sep 2007, Mr  Bantick

Just got back from a 2 week stay in the Samoa hotel. What a fantastic time we had! Me and my girlfriend went and we never had a bad day, meal or anything to complain about. The food was OK, which was expected as it’s only a 3 star. Some people were complaining but I’m not really sure what food they expected, if you want exotic and gourmet food go to a 4 or 5 star. There was only really poor choice for vegetarians but that didn’t affect us.
The pool bar and staff were great, very friendly people and not shy with the measures of alcohol.
The rooms were slightly basic and only had 2 plug sockets, one in the bathroom and one in bed area.
The location of the hotel is brilliant, just a 2 minute stroll down the road from the hotel and you’re on the beach. Whereas a 2 minute stroll the other direction and you’re in the resort centre.

Only one grumble and that there is a sign that says no reserving of sunbeds around the pool, yet people abused this something shocking with some people putting towels on a bed and not turning up after lunch. If you’re not up by 9am its very unlikely you will get a bed.
Overall a solid 3 star.
