Stayed in apartments just outside Isolino holiday village. Basic but clean. No oven only hob bit of a pain. All lake facing with lovely view. Shallow pool on site as well as small sandy beach-rare on lake-safe & surprisingly warm. Small supermarket on site, large supermarket in nearest town, Verbania.
English spoken or understood by most locals. Boat trips good value, timetabled but often late. Free parking, found Villa Taranto best to park.(also lovely gardens) Best trips, including above, are Borromeon Islands, Rocca di Angera & the Duomo in Milan. For something unusual for the slightly energetic climb up inside the statue of San Carlo Borromeo in Arona. Flights & car hire booked separately-didn't encounter any traffic jams or mad Italian drivers. Roads can get extremely narrow off the major roads. Fill up on motorway prior to returning car else get stung for refuelling charges
