I recently stayed at this hotel for a wedding. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are large and well kept and the food was lovely. However on arrival my room was not ready and had to wait in the bar for 30 minutes whilst it was finished. I was situated on the ground floor at the... more

Extremely disappointing. Stench and noise from refinery was overbearing, and view from hotel was of said oil refinery. Cooked breakfast very poor quality, room had not been cleaned properly and would not recommend this. Certainly not a 4* standard. Will not be staying at MacDonald hotels again. Rubbish.

Nice But Expensive
I had a one night stay here recently and found there are plenty of good and bad things about the hotel. The reception area, health club and bar areas are well decorated and clean. The majority of staff were friendly, but the older ones could be rude. The hotel lift is a bit of a menace, the button to call it is broken and jagged. The room was spacious and comfortable, but some of the wine bottles in the mini bar were empty when we arrived! We did not have dinner in the hotel as it is very over priced - there plenty of good places to eat in nearby Falkirk. The buffet breakfast was a huge dissappointment, advertised as Scottish, it is nothing of the sort. You will love the breakfast here if you like frying your own eggs, eating freezing cold bacon and tucking in to soggy scrambled eggs. The hotel seems to be geared towards catering for corporate functions and wedding receptions and as such I would not recommend it to tourists. At over £90 a room there are better and more resonably priced places to stay in the local area.
we had a good experience
I'm surprised at the other reviews, we had a pleasant experience. we enjoyed the food which was superb, the staff were a little slow, but it was worth it. the room was lovely, the staff friendly, no problems at all, the only thing i could complain about was the fact it's right next to a power station, which was disheartening, however it didn't spoil our stay and the countryside around it is just beautiful.
In need of TLC
We stayed here overnight in a superior room. The room itself was fine, but the communal areas were shabby and in need of redecoration. The meal we had was really good, but pretty expensive. In a strange location with a lot of industrial land just behind the hotel. Our room had a look onto the roof of the leisure complex. Overall it was fine, but we would not rush back.
No Bang for your Buck
Just spent a lot of US cash to stay at this HIGHLY overrated hotel. Lots of people walking around in their fancy dress acting like they were someplace special. Ordered room service just after the cooks bailed for the evening. Roast beef and butter sandwich. Lots of butter only it was supposed to be Roast beef with horseradish sauce. Called room service and they sent up the horseradish sauce, but I still had the butter sandwich. Came down for breakfast and they told me I could have what ever was left at the buffet. Looked at the buffet and decided I better find a real place to eat. I had to have the maid explain to me how to use the broken elevator just to get out of the hotel. Top notch hotel, NO WAY! The guests checking out before me had nothing but complaints as well.
Sorry, a bit of a rant!
During our recent stay over the May bank holiday so many simple things were executed with such incompetence and little regard for customer service I find it hard to choose which annoyed us the most. It probably wasn’t the surly check in receptionist, the non-existent steakhouse service, the dusty room, the bed that sagged in the middle or the dirty cutlery, although these were all noteworthy. No, it was definitely breakfast on the first morning. At the end of the 20 minute wait for a table we were informed that there was no hot food left because they had stopped serving, the time being just after 10am. We had to walk, plate in hand, to the other side of the hotel for our rashers, all in the darkness of a power cut. It would have been funny if we weren't paying 4 star prices!
Don't know what people have to complain about - It was excellent
No concerns whatsoever - staff friendly, room great- we had a superior which was in excellent condition, food excellent - I know people have said it was expensive but you get what you pay for. I requested flowers for my wife as it was our wedding anniversary and they were absolutely lovely - we stopped at another McDonald hotel for dinner whilst on the way home - Linden Hall, dinner there was as good, so I thoroughly recommend this hotel and other McDonald establishments.
Don't Bother!
I went there on the recommondation of a work colleague, I wish I had never listened to him now! On arrival the receptionist was abrupt and unhelpful. The older more senior staff were rude and left me unattended to when it was obvious I was waiting for help. The room was full of dust! The room service was late, cold and wrong. Shall I carry on.....! The only good thing was the younger staff who actually seemed to take a bit of pride in their work. I am in the forces and travel the world regularly and this has to be one of the worst places I have stayed.
very expensive and a let down
we found the hotel meals and drinks very expensive( nearly ?30 a head). the waiters and dinner staff except the younger staff were slow, unfriendly and very rude. they also favoured a customer who had been visiting the hotel for 30 years over us. the breakfast was not included in the room rate and it was very overpriced. the staff seem to be very lazy and unwelcoming with the exception of the spa staff. the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu was over ?15. we waited 20 minutes for a table for dinner when the restaraunt was completely empty. Overall it was a rip off and very disappointing and we will be making a complaint.
Great Hotel
The hotel, food and staff were all great, I have no hesitation in recommending the Inchyra.
Inchyra Grange, August'03
This hotel was excellent value. Rooms were very comfortable, only thing absent was the mini bar which was locked. The 2 restaurants, one a steakhouse and the other a la carte, gave good value for money. The leisure center has 2 gyms side by side, and these are much bigger than most hotel leisure club gyms. Also has a kindey shaped pool whcih was a bit to shallow for my likin, but there's alaways the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
