Macdonald Inchyra Grange Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel for a wedding. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are large and well kept and the food was lovely. However on arrival my room was not ready and had to wait in the bar for 30 minutes whilst it was finished. I was situated on the ground floor at the back of the building and there was a distinct smell which I have noticed that other reviewers have commented on. I had to spray my room daily as it strongly resembled that of waste matter.
The food that evening was beautiful and the chefs produced amazing food over the whole weekend.
The following morning the fire alarm went off during breakfast, there was no fire procedure put in place and the staff wondered around aimlessly. The hotel guests took it upon themselves to evacuate the hotel however management still did not point out the fire assembly points and no checks were done. God forbid it had been a real fire as they had no idea who was in or out of the hotel. We waited almost 40 minutes before we were allowed back into the building. No time was added onto the breakfast cut off point to allow for the fire alarm and some people were left sitting for over an hour waiting for breakfast that never came.
None of the card machines worked and you had to travel to the reception every time you wanted to make a transaction, the alternative was a 2 minute walk from the hotel (as directed by staff) which was more like half an hour!
On my final night there seemed to have been a problem between a hotel guest and a member of staff. I understand that the hotel did not want to put their staff into any confrontational situations; however their response to this was to shut all bars and stop room service. Considering that the hotel offers 24 hour room service I found it quite disgusting that a hotel full of guest would be refused service which they had paid for over the actions of one person. The manager on duty that night ‘Andrew’ was rude and totally disregarded several people’s requests for food and soft drinks.
