Neither one thing nor the other
My husband and I stayed here last weekend as a treat for my birthday. We stayed 2 nights on B & B and dinner on the first night, had champagne and chocolate in the room on arrival, paid £220 for all of that. The rooms are not in the main building they are Ski type lodges in a court yard, they are ok. Spacious and clean. However when you combine the rooms with the bistro bar the place does have a holiday camp feel to it. I cant actually complain about anything, infact the meal we had in the resturant was amazing. I think my... more
Great hotel providing you get a good deal!
We stayed here for one night in January as we had a party to go to nearby. Searched and found a great rate of only £80 per night including breakfast so my review is based on that price. The hotel is a mix of old and new and seems to work pretty well. The grounds out the back of the hotel are lovely and well worth a stroll. We ate in the bar as time was against us for the evening and the meal we had was pretty good and not badly priced. The restaurant is fine dining and dress code does apply so be warned. The room we had was... more
Very Disappointing
We wanted high quality accommodation for the weekend and booked directly with the hotel. Our experience was very disappointing. The website showed country mansion photos and we asked for an executive suite, were told there was a dress code for the dining room and were willing to pay £200+ per night for the expectations raised when booking. We arrived at 8.00pm after a 3 hour drive and were surprised to have the card swiped and the pin number taken for nearly £500 before even seeing the room. However being tired after the journey we... more
Gorgous setting , quiet - elegant.
Lymington Hampshire: Beuatifull hotel, great setting and so quiet Nov 2006 Business women travelling alone Such a lovely old building, loads of charecter, warm welcome . The actual rooms are part of a complex that offers time share - they are situated around a kind of court yard so you are not affected by an noise or coming and goings of the hotel. The rooms are very well equipped and comfortable. The leisure centre is only a few yards across the courtyard from your hotel door and the pool is very nice. I stayed in... more
Fabulous wedding venue!
My husband and I got married here on the 29th july. We loved the venue straight away so couldn't wait to get married there. The rooms were lovely - we were staying in a very lovely suite. From what I saw of the geusts rooms it was very hit and miss what kind of room you had. Some people had a kitchen area and some just had a fridge with tea and coffee making facilities. You may have to reuest what type of room you would like to ensure you get what you want. The rooms aren't quite 5* but the hotel overall has 5* facililites.<br... more
Not worth the price
I recently stayed at Elmers Court with my family for the weekend. We booked 5 rooms at £160 each per night and there is no way at all this hotel warrants this price. Our rooms were in the court yard development our the back of the main house, the rooms themselves were well below par, a good size but that's about all, they were in need of a good clean and the fact there was no aircon meant the room was an unbearable temperature on a summers day. Where the hotel seriously fell down though was the other amenities and service. The "Bistro" bar... more
Over Priced
Have just spent 3 nights at this hotel with my husband. We had a courtyard room which for the price was a disgrace. The bathroom was not clean and the furnishings were shabby. The food was certainly not up to standard. What spoke volumes to us was the fact that we had a dead flower on our table for 3 days, on our last morning there I requested that the flower be taken off the table as there is nothing more depressing than having to look at dead flowers whilst you are eating. Whilst in a lovely position this hotel is most certainly... more
Married here in July 2005
We got married here in July 2005 and can quite honestly say was the best day we have ever had. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived and the staff were excellent. Every one of our guests wer made to feel welcome, food was great, service was great and rooms were great. The help we were offered with the planning was fantastic and they really were experienced and had fantasti ideas. Would highly recommend for an unforgettable day and we plan to spend our wedding anniversaries here for years to come!
Dissapointed
Booked a double room for one night on a busy Saturday in February 2005. Room was in the outside courtyard and to be honest was pretty sub-standard for the price (one night was discounted to 160GBP!) Bathroom was not clean and mouldy. I'm sure this place is great for families that want to use the pool etc, but would not recommend this for a night of romantic luxury. I think the price point is too high and the standards too low. Wrote to the manager (admittedly after the event) to complain, but no luck. Would strongly consider upmarket B&B... more
great for children
We spent a long weekend at Elmers Court with children aged 6, 5 and 3. The children loved it as there are two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor, lovely big grounds for running around in and plenty to do in the surrounding area. The Isle of Wight ferry is very close (but not at all noisy or intrusive) so day trips there are easy and great fun. It's not luxury luxury but the rooms are good for families and the facilities are fine. Makes a good place to spend a few days.
