relax and calm in a luxury atmosphere
from jaumekarmele
My wife and I have just returned from 10 days at the Vincci la Plantación. The hotel is magnificent, plenty of space, and best for us (in our late 40), plenty of silence. We have never experienced such incredible calm and relaxing service before in a near beach and pools hotel. There were very few children or adolescents, so the atmosphere in the common areas is very relaxing. Except the weekends, were it seems the hotel offers discount packages for the tenerife residents, there are no problems finding a sun bed in the pool or a table in the pool restaurant or the dinner buffet. The personnel are very professional and very affectionate, always with a smile in her face. Listening to their commentaries, one perceives that the co-workers climate, including the directives, make them feel happy, so this is transfered to the clients, improving the service quality. The service in the restaurants and bars is fast, except the dinner buffet grill, where some days (Saturday nights), due to the necessary slowness in preparing some shellfish, we were queuing for more than 15 min. The menus are not repetitive and, in our opinion, excellentment chosen. During the dinner, there are some musical groups (one for each night) livening up the evening. Some other commentaries state that this hotel is in a hill, and it has nothing (restaurants, shopping centres, and inclusive the beach) near. The hill is very pronunciate and the Tenerife sun at some hours is very hot, so it could be an extenuating experience trying to walk it. The hotel has a free mini bus that brings you to the beach and near shopping centres (a 5 min excursion. but as we took it only 1 time, we are not sure its schedules). Better, more freedom, you can take a taxi (aprox 3 euros for trip), with no problems to find a free taxi in the hours we took them (9.00 am- 6.00 pm). Maybe at night could be more problematic, we don't know. But being in the hill has extraordinaire sea and town views, the hotel was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from it. The beach and shopping centres were so hot and busy there, we couldn't wait to get back to the peace and tranquillity of the hotel. The pools are lovely; not very big any of them, but with no problem to find a relaxing place in any of them at any time. People enters and leaves the pools for no more than 15 min, many for no more than few minutes, there is no one playing with balls, splashing, etc. It's relaxing and delicious. Only during 30 min one of the pools is reserved for the aerobic class, but if you don't want to participate in it, you have the other pools to be in. In the adult’s pools, the temperature in the water is 24-25 Celsius degrees, and its depths are constant from 1.25 to 1.40 m., except one that has depths from 0.5 meters to 1.4 m. The pool attendants were wonderful, laying out as many towels as you need, and helping you if you have any problem with the parasol (as all the things, it has its own trick). There are 6 sun beds (yes, king size beds with cushions and mattress). We really recommend being in one of them. The Spa they recommend is not as impressive as their web page states. The multifunction pool is outdoors (no problems with the always spring climate of the island), the water temperature is very warm (delicious), but, here comes our buts, its not for aquaphobics: its depth is more than the between navel- breast for a 1.78 m tall person and there are no one handless to grasp to feel one secure in the splashing pool. Finally, the room is super, plenty of space (terrace, living space, king size bed, dressing room, bathroom; the front door is as far of the living or resting room, that is almost impossible to hear the voices or footsteps of the other people in the corridors). There is sea and pools views, and a very efficient room service (changing towels and bathrobes, replacing shampoos, shaving machines, etc, every day; inclusive every night they place a card with the next day meteor prevision). In resume, excellent. Overall we would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday and I am extremely fussy! Recommended for couples who want to mix luxury with relax and calm.
A beautiful hotel , but........
from Staffsfamily
We have just returned from La Plantacion del Sur in Costa Adeje. Travelling as a family of 4 , with 2 teenage girls 14 and 18. We had decided on the 5* Grand Luxe hotel in Costa Adeje booked as a probable last family holiday before the eldest goes to Uni in September. Beautiful hotel, absolutely 5* in its decoration and ambience.. We were upgraded to two luxury suites on arrival with views over the Del Duque beach and the hotel pools , beautiful , looked like the best rooms in the hotel - fabulous. Surprisingly the hotel was very quiet and only half full, we were told that it had officially opened in March of this year and it became apparent that there were still a few things that need to be sorted out. We do like to dress for dinner and enjoy the whole dining experience each evening , especially on holiday... I had booked half board as we were expecting 5 star food /service......... unfortunately we felt overdressed for our first nights dinner and were dissapointed with the food and the restaurant service. We found that there were hardly any english /germans at the hotel , mainly French and Spanish , with what seemed like an influx of Spanish families with small children especially over the weekend periods.. It seemed that the dress code in the hotels information was ignored and shorts, flip flops and even jeans were worn to dinner. My daughters had bought their dressier stuff with them and we found that in our dining experience was not 5 star. There was no apparent Maitre D and the service was not good. Some Tables were in a beautiful terrace area outdoors, some indoors in the self service restaurant which was open from 7 til 11pm... most tables laid for 2 , but could easily be put together to provide tables for 4 . But , Guests including ourselves had to resort to moving tables together , themselves , as we were left standing there for ages ... not 5 star service and dishes remained on the tables between courses ..not 5 star. The food was plentiful , but sometimes had been standing for hours .There was a grill where 1 chef would cook steaks/ fish /pasta to order, but guests had to queue for up to 10 mins sometimes , not 5 star... my husband said it was like school dinners... There was a separate a la carte restaurant(empty) , but we had paid for our half board and were reluctant to pay extra for the service we had expected . The breakfast buffet was plentiful , but service was not good and we were often still awaiting our coffee/ tea at the end of our breakfast . Reception and maids service was certainly 5 star , but the food/ dining experience was poor. Entertainment was also poor, and nothing really to entertain our teenagers ie sports etc , they did use the gym , and the pools were nice , but very quiet , no one else around their ages. Would be super for a quiet , relaxed, holiday for two, if you are prefer to eat out and travel via taxi to Del Duque Beach area is approx 5 euros each way, approx 5 mins , but down hill . We ate out a couple of nights and found that it was much nicer and cheaper than in the hotel especially for cocktails / coffees etc.. Our room overlooked the Bahia Del Duque which was spectacular and seemed to have very professional entertainments and would be our choice for a family holiday in future, access direct to their own beach and very secure with access only for guests. We went to their restaurant most days for lunch which was excellent and reasonably priced. Rather dissapointed having paid 5 star prices . We had been looking forward to a 5 star hotel, in the Canaries, facilities to suit all of us, in a quieter more sophisticated area . (Costa Adeje) Del Duque Plaza and Del Duque Beach is certainly that, if rather quiet . Would give it a low 4 Star rating myself - based solely on the restaurant / service - needs some improvement. Sorry - La Plantacion , my comments to friends have been , gorgeous hotel and rooms, but food and service in restaurant were hopeless.
Amazing , GO now!

This hotel is the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed in. Upon arrival two men gathered our cases and took us into reception. At reception we were greetd with champagne and fruit juice was offered too. The receptionist had a problem finding our booking so called the manager. The manager apollogised for any inconvienence and upgraded us to junior suite! We only had to wait 5 minutes for the manager so this was a very nice form of apology. The junior suite was amazing with grat views. There were two LCD tv's. The rest of the holiday was fantastic. The food was great; there are a massive choice of toiletries with spa shower and bath. A free spa entry was also given. i would reccomend anyone to go here as it is true luxury.
noise
from vakantieman
We liked to garden and pool area but even the heated pool was to cold to swim in may. The service and the staf were very nice but where not listning to our complain about noise. If you book a nice hotel like this you dont want to know what is happening in the room next door(You could here people snoring or having sex) We complainet many times but the only thing they told that the knew about this problem. In the weekend they opended the nightclub/disco,it sounded like the band was paying next to our bed(after 1 oclock in the morning) The area is also borring so you need a taxi to get somewere(beach, shopping) We stayed in a junior suite witch was nice but basic for this level of hotel.

This brand-new 5* GL is worth the money: great relation price-quality. Been for a week with my partner in a double superior room with sea views and really enjoyed our stay (we asked for an upper floor room, but were given a ground fllor one, overlooking the beakfast an dining patio, but away from the noisy areas of the pool) Great modern and elegant common areas. Big sunny rooms with huge bathroom (really impressive) and terrace. Friendly and available service (reception, waiters, cleaners, pool side personal and spa). Great breakfast buffet with a big choice of cold and hot meals. An a wonderful pool area well stocked with sun beds and garden, with a great situation as you got sun from the very morning to the sun setting. The Mondariz Spa at the hotel is worth the visit, apart from the free thalasso circuit at the outsider jet pool, there are two other circuits available. We took a private Canary Circuit of 1 hour and ½ for 40 € each person (private for rooms OR groups of over 7 people) and it was a great experience. But the hotel have got other “black” points as well. The situation on a step hill provides with nice views overlooking the Playa del Duque and Playa Fañabe areas, but takes a short (but step) walk to get to the beach and seafront walk and shopping areas. The hotel provides with a shuttle service to get to the beach, but had not tried it as I do not like the beaches around the area (Tenerife is not know for quality beaches, anyway). The dinner buffet (chose bead and breakfast accommodation) was a good choice of cold and hot dishes but a bit expensive (42 euro/person), and the Jaima Restaurant by the pool area was a bit expensive too and with a short menu to choose. Around the area is worth the LA VIEJA restaurant in La Caleta, a 1 km walk from the hotel, for good fresh fish and seafood. In the seafront walk, there is a couple of restaurants La Terraza(worldwide cuisine) and La Casa del Lago, which belong to the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque, and an Italian restaurant close by, belongong to the Dreamplace Gran Tacande Hotel, with nice pizza and pasta. We took our last dinner at El Duque in the Bahia del Duque Hotel, and even tough it´s not cheap, we had a great dinner: well prepared and served courses in a really distinguished placed ( the hotel is worth the visit).
The hotel with the "WOW" factor
from Princess99
My hubby and myself stayed at this hotel to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and we were treated like royalty. We had a junior suite which was out of this world and the view from our balcony was one to die for. In our room on our arrival was a bottle of champagne, two bottles of wine and some fruit. We had booked an ordinary double room but were given a free upgrade. We cannot really say anything bad about this hotel. The staff were all polite and friendly and the service was excellent. We were on bed and breakfast and although I am a vegetarian there was never a problem with my meals - loved the champagne at breakfast every morning - suddenly acquired a liking for bucks fizz!!! We feel that this hotel is a superior five star. The hotel is very new and is within walking distance of other hotels. The hotel sits on top of a hill but close to all the amenities of Costa Adeje. There is a bus service that runs on the main road close to the hotel. We went to various parts of Tenerife during our stay and found the taxi prices to be very reasonable. If you want a holiday to die for, I suggest you holiday at this hotel.
great new hotel

Just back from a week of pretty much luxury, great new property finished to v. high standards. Upgraded to junior suite which was as good as any hotel room we have stayed in , including 5 times the price Madinat Jumeirah. Made all the better by some of the most friendly and personable staff, pool food ordinary though for all that. Fab shower and Hermes bathrooms goodies were beautiful, not the best position up the hill from the beach and just a bit remote but far enough away from Playa da las Americas thank goodness. For restaurants Limoncello in Old Adeje is a must with the fresh homemade pasta wonderful, Los Toritos is a great meat restaurant just 10 minutes walk down the hill, try the suckling pig, wow! La Vieja was another recommendation from the delightful ladies on reception and my induction into Canarian parrot fish. Stay well well clear of La Hacienda, one of the restaurant attached to Grand Hotel Bahia Del Duque, the worst service ever and when I complained they actually called the police!! I agree that the serice at the hotel is not up to some of the greats like Madinat, Raffles or Four Seasons but for the price simply fantastic and super to see so many locals employed, well done Vincci.
Beautiful new hotel

The hotel is immaculate. On arrival we received an immediate welcome drink of sparkling wine. The porter having taken us to our room expected a tip, and proceeded to cough until he got one! The room had a view of the pools and garden and beyond that the sea. Some rooms have balconies facing the road, but still have sea view. The bathroom and particularly the shower were very impressive. LCD TV in the room. Towels were replaced twice a day. We stayed for 3 nights, Wednesday to Saturday, and still received a complimentary ticket for a spa treatment. The buffet style breakfast had a lot of choice, and a chef preparing eggs, omletes, and fresh fruit juice. Choice of alfresco dinning with views of the sea was enjoyed. Good standard overall but not the best I have seen for a five star hotel. The only criticism is the location of the hotel, which is 10-15 mins walk down a steep hill to the sea. The promenade goes south towards playa de las Americas and north towards the more picturesque La Caleta. Here there were several fish restaurants by the sea, with very reasonable prices, fantastic food. and plenty of locals eating. Staff apart from one porter (see above), were extremely helpful and friendly. I think they could do with a pool attendant, to assist with umbrellas, etc. and the loungers by the pool were a touch uncomfortable and need matresses. Overall first rate hotel. Ideal for a short break.
Absolutely brilliant

The place - the hotel is situated up the hill from the resort and you are welcomed to a beautiful entrance. when we arrived we were treated to some nice cava and canapes whilst our luggage was removed to our room. The hotel is situated on several different levels and is gorgeous. There are a number of pools offering heated water, salt and a spa pool(complementary ticket included) The staff - Absolutely brilliant. Albeit they were not busy, they were endearing and made EVERY effort to ensure we were relaxed. Especially Daniel, the Romenian who was just a nice guy. That doesnt detract from the others who did their bit too. The food- buffet style meals, loads of variety and choice. We like seafood and were not disappointed. Smoked salmon, tuna, king prawns every night and if it wasnt there they went and made it especially. The only point was the lunch menu which was slightly limited. This was felt by others too some of whom went down town. Having said that, the quality was very good. Breakfasts for us were started with a wee glass of cava - well we were on hols. Loads of fresh fruit etc The room was superb. As you enter the hallway, wardrobes to right and bathroom to left. The bathroom is spacious with a twin bath and seperate shower room and wc with bidet. The shower is worth a mention as it has a overhead rose, 2 jets and a seperate shower head. the water it pumped out could not go down the drain fast enough! Some localised flooding on the tiled floor! His and hers sink and plentlyof fresh towels daily. Our room was cleaned by Angela and she did a superb job. No need for hairdryer, towels bathrobes. We got engaged on the way out and on learning this, the staff left a bottle of champers and some fruits dipped in chocolate in the room. This was very nice and much appreciated. The entertainment - jazz room closed cos it was so quiet. They did have live entertainment some of the nights - guitar, sax/clarinet, harp, very good standard but could have ben every night. This was a totally relaxing holiday spent in a gorgeous hotel ithlovely staff. I would recommend it and will return.
Nice and relaxing

We stayed at the Plantacion for 2 weeks over the easter period and had a lovely time. The hotel is away from the beach up a steep hill a good 10 mins walk away from the sea. The hotel itself is extremely well kept, gardeners out tending to the plants all day long, rooms attended to every day, towels changed twice a day and a turn back service (most nights!). The standard rooms are fantastic and I wouldn't suggest you need to pay the money for anything more. All overlook the sea (great views to La Gomera) and are massive. In fact the more expensive suites are right on the edge of the road and could be noisy. My top tip is when you book ask for a quiet room and you'll hopefully be away from the road. The bathrooms are fab too - plenty of lovely shampoos, conditioners, body lotions provided throughout your stay..... and girls, don't take a hiardryer as the one they provide is superb. I didn't unpack mine the whole 2 weeks. The food is the least favourable element of the hotel. Breakfast is fine and just what you would expect but the evening food option is poor for 5* standards. We stayed B&B and glad we hadn't wasted our money on half board - if you are thinking of doing so you'll be disappointed. Salmon or meat as your meal choice and that is basically that. Go B&B and try the following restaurants: Limencello (up in old Adeje, taxi 10 mins), La Vieja, El Mirador (great atmosphere with Ged the resident singer[bit cheesy but fun]), Hotel de Nivaria and La Raijissimo in Plaza Del Duque for a great panini at lunch time. The pool areas are really well kept, pools of all temperatures, we loved it. TRY THE SPA!!! The sunbeds were not so comfortable as the seat cushions hadn't arrived (!) but we got up and managed to get one of the super day beds each morning. There is hot competition but if you are up by 8.30am plonk your towel down with a couple of books and enjoy!! All in all I would say the hotel has all the makings of 5* hotel but if the owners are not careful it could easily drop to 4* due to some of the current food issues. The real test for me 3 weeks on is would I go back? - Yes. Would I recommend it to others? - Yes but if you are the sorts of people who don't like walking or have someone planning to travel with you who isn't able to walk up and down a steep hill to get anywhere then the location may prove disappointing.
