Grand Atlantis Bay Hotel

We just stay for three nights at the newly renovated Grand Hotel Atlantic Bay in Taormina Mare. The hotel has a beautiful view over the sea and all rooms have a sea view. The hotel and all rooms are built into the rock face (nice and large see water aquarium at the reception), but the tunnel for the train from Catania to Palermo is in the same rock face just few meters behind the hotel - you can here in the room every train passing the tunnel. lovely place in terrible hands

This hotel is beautiful, quiet and luxurious. The waiting staff are courteous and helpful. The breakfasts are outstanding, the rooms and views are breath taking. It doesn't have a beach - you have to use the sister hotel's beach 5 minutes down the road - this is not a problem but was an initial disappointment. Only gripe the cost of the lunchtime barbeque. At 40 Euros per head, even for children, it seemed a bit steep... and, as there were only ever a handful of customers eating there, I presume other guests felt the same and headed off for... more
