Wonderful jewel on the lake
We would certainly recommend staying at this wonderful hotel. The location is perfect - close proximity to the town and stunning views of the mountains and lake. The staff are extremley friendly and helpful and work very hard to ensure the guests are enjoying their stay. The food is superb - four courses all cooked to an exceptionally high standard. We are certain to return.
Fantastic Hotel and Staff
My husband, son (nearly 13) and I stayed at the Piccolo Mondo Hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of April. We were very warmly welcomed and had a lovely suite at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool with large corner balconies. Great to have the extra space with a teenager and the lounge area he slept in had a wide sofa bed and a door to our room which helped with privacy (needed with a young teenager in tow!). Also the suite came with robes, slippers, snacks, free minibar and use of a scooter (alhough we had a car so not necessary for us to use). Hotel bicycles are always avaiable too. The staff were really helpful, always anticipating our needs (we asked about a couple of things and were given leaflets in English, suggestions of please to visit, a translation of the beauty treatments etc etc). The wellness centre was lovely with indoor pool, steam, sauna and special 'showers'. We all had a massage each and this was of good quality. Breakfast was plentiful with wide choice of food - they will make anything you ask for too (scambled eggs was a real winner, son said best he'd ever tasted! Mmmm, not mine then!). We only 'ate in' one night but it was delicious, real italian cuisine and a 'proper' restaurant (having said that kids of all ages were very welcome I noticed, so don't worry, not too formal). My husband left some clothes in the hotel (!!) and I have emailed them, got an immediate response and they are in the post back to us in the UK - that's service! The location of the hotel is not on the lake but it was only a short amble across the road, however we had a lovely view of the mountains and we were staying at a 'lake view' hotel at Desenzano later in the week anyway. We visited the fanatstic waterfall near Torbole (must do) and also travelled round the north west side down to Limone for lunch one day (tunnels along the way and beautiful scenery). Also it is easy access to Rovereto from Torbole - a nice inland town with a shopping centre on the way in and an amazing museum MART - stunning shape (when we were there it was a car exhibition but this changes regularly). The theme park Gardaland was an easy drive to get to on the SE corner of the Lake with stunning views all the way. Not quite Disney but some good thrill rides and area for younger kids too. I noticed a comment on the 'noisiness' of the hotel from a previous reviewer but we found it really quiet (we were slightly out of season but there were other guests staying too). All in all a great Hotel and will definitely recommend Piccolo Mondo
The Unwanted
Visited this hotel on a Consort Travel coach holiday. An excellent hotel but it was very clear from the manner in which we were treated that whilst the hotel needed the income generated by coach visitors they regarded us as second class visitors. It was very noticeable that whilst private guests were greeted fulsomely by the owners us lesser mortals were ignored. We were lucky to share the buffet breakfast with the private guests but we were not allowed to sit anywhere near them. Dinner was another matter. It was served in a crash bang wallop style and was mediocre in content. Also it was made clear that our presence was not required for more than the minimum time it took to eat the little food provided. I contacted Consort Travel upon my return but received the Mark 1 response. However I notice that this hotel does not appear in their 2007 brochure. Are all coach holiday guests treated in this fashion by hotels? if so, it will be my last coach holiday.
Could have been better.
My partner and I stayed at the Piccolo Mondo Hotel at the beginning of September on a Consort coach holiday, which was particularly poor, We were refered to as not the private guests, given dirty and chipped crockery and cutlery. The staff didn't know how to serve at the table reaching right across you to serve people opposite, which I found very annoying. Some of the staff were on occasion very rude. The rooms were clean and tidy although we didn't know that a hair dryer should have been in the bathroom until one appeared on the Thursday before we left on the Friday. The food was ok but I felt it was a little inadequate at times. They did however come round at the end with more chips etc, which was to little to late. I managed to contract E. Coli, food poisoning whilst there, the strain I contracted can be contracted from badly prepared meat or dirty water. The only activity that we did seperately was I went in the pool for an hour and a half. Draw your own conclusions. I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels before and this one doesn't come up to standard by any means.
Sergio's heaven
I have just returned from my stay in Piccolo Mondo, Torbole. It was very enjoyable. The staff were very nice and if I had to single one for special mention it would have to be Mohammed. His sense of humour was second to none. The food was excellent. It is a four star hotel with all the ambience of a family run hotel, with Sergio very much in attendance. If I had the opportunity to change anything it would be the swimming pools. I found the indoor one too hot to swim in and the outdoor one too cold to swim in. On a positive note it was lovely to be in a pool chlorine free. The gardens were splendidly arranged. Bicycles for the use of the clients was a special touch. Torbole is a magnificent setting. The lake is breathtaking. I know I will be back to enjoy exploring and enjoying more of the scenery. One week is too short. I am glad that I found this hidden pearl
Just Loved it!
Travelled with Joe Walsh Tours and was based at this charming hotel. What a treat it was too. We had a very clean comfortable room at the front of the hotel overlooking the mountains. The hotel boasts beautiful gardens, great pool area inside and out, gym, beauty salon, fabulous food and wonderful service. It is a small family hotel and very well run by Sergio and his staff (forgive me Sergio I cannot remember your surname), the staff are excellent and nothing is too much bother for them. The hotel is child friendly too having play areas at the front and rear gardens. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Fabulous Hotel
A wonderful hotel. Large, modern and comfortable rooms. Peacful and relaxed location 5 minutes walk from lake and restaurants. Friendly family service. Great food even though it only served to hotel guests. Good facilities.
Piccolo Hotel "great place but such noise"
We have just arrived home from a great week in Lake Garda. We stayed in Garda Town, based at the Hotel Piccolo. Now this hotel is very sweet and authentically Italian. The food served as half board was superb (although you do like to enjoy Veal). The staff where as accomadating as possible, giving packed lunches for excurrsions etc.. The hotel is set right on the the lake front, where you take all your meals. The huge downside is the awful entertainment that is based in front of the some 5 or 6 cafe/restaurants that surround the Piccolo Hotel. To say that it is loud is out of the question. Even with our windows and shutters closed, the noise kept us awake to some small hours of the morning, and the word Siesta did not exist!!. Garda is a great place to visit but we had to pay to take a hotel suite in the near town of Lazise just to get a really good night sleep out of seven. I do not want to slag this charming little hotel off as they were fantastic hosts. But they too are oblivious to the noise and indeed create much of it themselves. If you are all nighters then stay here. The food is great the weather was amazing and the local towns and bus routes easy to follow. Enjoy.. But for us a sleep after a graet sunny day out is as important as enjoying Italian entertainers singing various bad versions of "New York New York". Stephen Lang RN London
Beautiful in every way
The Hotel Piccolo Mondo was superb. All of the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. When we go back to Lake Garda I hope we can go back to this hotel. It is in an ideal situation, within walking distance of Riva Del Garda. The views are incredible. We stayed in late September and the weather was just perfect.
As Close To Heaven As I Could Get
I just returned from Italy and I must say that Hotel Piccolo Mondo is just about as close to heaven (Or the Sound of Music) as I could possibly get. I had a balcony view of the Alps, the water was rushing below and I could see little houses nestled in the mountainside. I only stayed one night due to my tour, but the restaurant was elegant, the service was wonderful and I want to go back soon and spend a week!
