Grand Hotel Bristol

This Hotel is on the lake side . You just have to cross a small road to have a walk along a well kept and attractive lake side walk. The hotel is about a five minute walk to Stressa main centre. This Hotel is excellent in its fine decoration and is well maintained, clean and welcoming. Al the staff are very helpful and it is clear they care about your stay and enjoyment. Grand Hotel Bristol is a very majestic looking hotel in the classy area of Maggiore. It has two swimming pools, one in, one out. We were very satisfied with the evening meals.The salad buffet to start was really good. The service was impeccable. Breakfast was also good. All staff were extremely professional and would drop everything to help. For a stay in a big, grand hotel with good food and facilities, stay at the Bristol. It is a decent 4 star hotel.

Wonderful setting and the hotel has fantastic facilities only let down by the quality of the evening meals which, at a guess, were nearly all pre-cooked. Never eat the omelette as it must have been made earlier in the day and pre-heated. 4* hotel, 2* food. It rained most days while we were there. We did wonder when upon arrival we noticed the verdant lawns everywhere.

Too bad we only had 2 days at Stresa and Lake Maggiore. It was a wonderfully relaxing and sublime interlude in the middle of a two-week tour of Italy. The hotel is spotless and gorgeous in a location that is indescribably beautiful. I'd return in an instant. Enjoy!

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Bristol in May 2006 and it was the 3rd time we spent our holiday there! It is a very pleasant place, bedrooms are completely refurbished and very comfortable, in the restaurant we enjoyed a very good dinner (it was our 15th Anniversary!), and the staffs is always friendly. We recommend this Hotel and will come again hopefully in October!

The Grand Hotel Bristol is a lovely hotel. The facilities are excellent with both an indoor and outdoor pool. The room was lovely and kept immaculate by the maid. I could not fault the service offered by the staff, it was attentive without being overbearing. The one thing which let the hotel down very badly was the food. Thsi hotel has a very nice location on the lake only a short walk from town. Lobby and common areas are very nice. Food was pretty good. Service was good. Our room was a nice size with a balcony. Bed was like a rock. The floor would have been more comfortable. The shower had a poor sliding glass door that leaked water all over the floor and into the hall to the bed. We weren't the first to have that problem since the wood floor was warping outside the bathroom. Neat electronic light system and nice tv.

Don't let the luxurious lobby of the hotel fool you!!!- we had a room the size of a broom closet. It was so small that there was no floor space to put our suitcases so they had to be put in front of the door that exits our room- to open the door we had a zip up the suitcases and place them on their sides, and then squeeze through to exit the room. The other problem was the central heating. It was 20C and they had the heating on in the room????? We called and complained and they said to open our window- now that would seem logical-... more

Last September I was in Stresa and the hotel Bristol was the perfect place for people like me: demanding and attentive to the last detail. The service is excellent, the staff is nice and helpful and the room was perfect (fantastic view, spotless clean)…really the perfect place to stay if you want to relax and have the perfect holiday. I strongly recommend the hotel Bristol to all of you!!!

The Grand Hotel Bristol seemed promising as we arrived in the lobby. The rooms were clean, but very small. I found the staff, at all levels, to be very rude, surly and inhospitable. As I was speaking to one female desk clerk about a problem I was having with a room, another female desk clerk walked up and interrupted us by commenting to my clerk in Italian on how she thought Americans had no manners.
