Villa Paradiso Hotel

My wife and I have just returned from a week staying at the Villa Paradiso and had a wonderful time there. Perhaps it isn`t a 4 star hotel in some respects (the breakfast buffet was poor) but the staff were obliging and friendly, the room was clean and the chambermaids chatty and helpful. I notice that one guest criticised the towels saying they didn`t match! So what? They were good quality and changed as frequently as you wanted. We stayed in a junior suite. Because of the price and the fact that this was the best room they had, we expected a little more than what we got. They showed us one of the rooms and it was really small. It had a nice large balcony and was facing Etna as promised, but the room was barely larger than the double bed. We asked to see another suite if possible. They took us to a second "suite" which had a larger room at the expense of the balcony. We opted for the little larger room so that we could unpack our bags and have room to walk around... more

This is NOT a 4* hotel. Our room was ok but the electrics were dodgy, bedside light, phone, etc worked intermittently and the hairdryer was positively dangerous with a broken hose. We recommend you pack some gaffer tape!! Towels were very worn and the bathroom generally needed an upgrade. It wasn’t cleaned very well either. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was at times very noisy, as was the extremely inefficient air conditioning. We found most (not all) of the staff disdainful. What spectacular views. You must book a room with a balcony and sea/etna view on one of the higher floors. Junior suite was spacious and excellent value. The breakfast room on the top of the hotel has views to die for. Hotel has only 3 parking spaces and Taormina is extremely popular so parking/driving is not for the faint hearted!! We travelled off season so what the parking situation is like in the summer one can only imagine. Would certainly recommend this hotel - probably not 4 star but very good.

Perfect location if you don't want to go to the beach. The hotel is in excellent shape, full of mediocre original art which gives it an atmospheric feel. Great views from the upper floors, Etna and the sea. Good staff, friendly and attentive, all with some English, many with lots of it. Charlie gave us a great itinerary for a day trip that included Etna and the water front. Bath with big tub, bidet and towel warmer. We had a suite which had windows on 2 sides and was essentially 2 rooms without a door.

We just came back form a two night stay at the Villa Paradiso. The first night we stayed in a standard double room, it was terrible. If you have a chance pay the extra 30 euro and stay in a junior sweet with a sea view. The room was a lot bigger and had a balcony. The view was spectacular. The hotel itself is a bit old, but the people who work there are nice. If you will have your own car doesn’t go the beach which is managed by this hotel (Paradise Beach Club). We booked for our 25th Wedding Anniversary for 10 nights and were sorely disappointed with the hotel. Where it got 4 stars from we will never know. Our first room had no bedside tables or lamps and was dark and dingy. We were shown three more rooms but elected to pay an extra 20 Euros per night for an OK room with a nice terrace. Broken blinds, broken hairdryer hose, holes in sheets - not my idea of a 4 star hotel. No separate bar and pushchairs in the lobby. Sorry but no thanks.

A wonderful town and people. The hotel (Villa Paradiso) was excellent with wonderful views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and service was excellent and, if there was something on the fixed menu you did not like you were offered several choices. Stayed for 2 weeks commencing 19th June 2004. Will return. Remember the extra legs for walking the hills.

Taormina is awesome! We visited with our kids (11 and 8) for a few nights during Christmas and have only great things to report about Villa Paradiso. The staff could not be any nicer. The views are great ( we woke to Etna smoking!), so is the location. The hotel was under renovation and we got to peek in on a few rooms. Room 261 seems amazingly beautiful. If you want to eat out and close to the hotel, enjoy, but DON'T end up eatting at the Giotto Taverna Azzura. We were so embarrassed by our inability to eat their terrible food, that... more

We spent a week at the Villa Paradiso at the end of October. It's in a great position, very near good restaurants and shops and next door to the botanical gardens. The room had a terrific view of Etna and the food was good, especially the breakfast. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome.
