Can Planells Hotel

Once again, having used Tripadvisor to check out the place before visiting has paid off! Just returned fom a week spent at the finca. The only reason for the four stars on the value review is because of the poor Euro exchange rate that makes things expensiv at the moment for us Brits in continental Europe. Very rustic location ,overlooking a valley of fruit trees and landscapes. The main house has a colonial feel about it and is used as a reception area. The accommodation is located to the side of the house, in separate suites and buildings that stay loyal to its traditional farming character, but with a touch of style. Can Planells is an oasis of peace and relaxation and an ideal place to disconnect from the world. If you expect an activity holiday or upbeat atmosphere then don't go. Once you get here you wish you could stay forever... The building - surrounded by hundreds of lemon and orange trees - is beautiful, the location is superb and the service is excellent. Joan Planells, the charming and witty manager, is extremely helpful and serves each breakfast with a big, genuine smile. Most of the things he offers are from his own farm: the eggs, the fruit (great orange juice!), the avocados. We especially liked the home-made lemon cake and the toasted bread with tomatoes and anchovy. What a way to start the day....This... more

Implecably clean and maintained to an excellent standard. The setting is very tranquil, and it is as good as the photos in real life. The service is excellent (but remember that this is a bed and breakfast and not a 24 hr hotel). when we stayed, the hotel was full, but most of the guests spend the days away, so we had the pool to ourselves.
